Not friendly nor accommodating to children with special needs. I am a parent of a child on the Autism spectrum. Today I accompanied my child's class on a school trip to Jib Lanes Bowling Alley. Once we arrived at 10:00 AM. Management refused to open the lanes until every single child was seated. Our school was one of multiple schools in attendance so needless to say that the establishment did not even have enough seating available for the amount of students in attendance. After waiting for over 20 minutes with excited and anxious children, management finally decided to start the machines and open the lanes. After the children were finally allowed to start playing one of the children walked onto one of the lanes and was quickly retrieved and safely escorted back to their seat by school staff. Jib Lanes Management immediately began to scream and shout in a loud and aggressive voice over the public announcement speakers, scaring the children. He began threatening the children, stating that if one more child walks into a lane he would shut down all of the machines and all of the lanes and kick all of the classes out of his establishment. read more

Jib Lanes has fallen so badly. I used to love coming here now the management has gone to the dogs. I'm bowling in two leagues in this house and every week something is wrong with lanes. They have cosmetically improved the look but the mechanics beneath their ook speak for themselves. The second worse is the ATM machine for some reason it does not take chase Visa cards this has been going on for several months with no action taken by anyone. I spoke to the manager today and he said nobody told him. I went and gave him a demo and he said it was my card and bank yet I used three different cards to demonstrate and only one stayed in the machine. If my card didn't work or was locked how could I use it to buy food from the kitchen? In short avoid this place if you can if they don't want to give you good service dont give them your hard earned money. read more

This is usually a fun place to go bowling--unfortunately, not this time. I went at 3 pm on Saturday; the place was empty. I was in lane number 2, where the balls just kept getting stuck. This happened throughout the hour, which cost $75. I called for help several times, but no one came. After going to the front desk, the worker had such an attitude. This is an affordable family bowling place. Been here several times, but only after today's events that I would feel the urge to write a review, somebody bowling in the lane next to us through the ball into our game and somehow it's screwed up our scoring system completely so the owners gave us a whole new game for all three players for free, not just a few frames but a whole new game. That was very kind, especially considering how the kids got a little bit upset that they couldn't figure out who was winning or losing. read more

Overall a decent bowling alley compared to the other options. I looked at Hillside, Whitestone, and Jibs. Due to the holidays, I called ahead to all of them before deciding to go back to Jibs, which I used to go to a few years back. It was always not too crowded and they had a deal if you go earlier in the day on weekends. You can purchase by game or time spent. We went with the 2 hour rent-a-lane package for $95, which covered shoe rental for all 5 of us. Only 3 of us needed shoes, but it was already included anyways. We were able to complete 3 full games in the two hours while not feeling too rushed in the end. There was only one person behind the counter for F&B so service was on the slower side considering there were a few other groups in the area all ordering food. Pro-tip: Keep the game going if you are bought the timed package. Whether it be using the bathroom or buying food, make sure you are stepping away right after you play so as not to delay the game. I grew up in bowling alleys because my mom & dad bowled every weekend BUT I haven't been bowling in decades ( except for one time for a grandchild's birthday party) We came here for my youngest sons bday after we had dinner, it was a great idea. We had coupons from one of my daughters restaurant, we only had to rent the shoes (6.00 each) and the first game was free. We bowled a second game and that was only 24.00 for all of us. There were numerous racks with different size/weight bowling balls to choose from. There's also a few arcade machines in the front as you walk in to play. There's a cafe or snack shop but we didn't investigate that.....yet The place is large and very clean, completely different from the bowling from the bowling alleys that we went to decades ago. They have lockers in the restrooms to store your shoes & personal items. The bathrooms were very clean also We were horrible at bowling, I surprisingly won the first game and my oldest daughter won the second game..... we decided to create a bowling team so we will definitely be coming back to this lovely hidden gem read more

Do yourself a favor and book a lane way ahead of time. We went to several bowling alleys and the waits were four hours or two hours long -- on a Saturday afternoon in the middle of winter. When I called Jib Lanes, they said it was one hour and I asked to put our names down (since we were driving there and it was going to take us 35 mins to get there anyway), but we still waited awhile before we got a lane. When we did get a lane? We got it for exactly 30 mins. That was the only spot they could squeeze us into, and several lanes were broken. The staff behind the front desk also seemed extremely stressed out that day. Shoutout to the bartender. I didn't get her name but she was absolutely wonderful. My partner wanted coffee and she made him a coffee, and gave him a shot of baileys to put in it and some cinnamon to sprinkle on top. I took a sip and had drink envy lol. The balls are....not the cleanest. The lanes are....very slippery (I kept feeling like I was going to fall). BUT, they were able to slide us in for a game, and despite only having 30 mins, we enjoyed ourselves. Next time, I'll plan in advance to avoid the wait, and to have more time to bowl. read more

First time here today, Honestly did not like Jib Lanes. The bowling balls were so greasy , and nasty/old/dirty. I understand that bowling balls won't be clean/new at a public place but the ones at Jib lanes were just disgusting and felt like I immediately needed to use hand sanitizer (which by the way their sanitizer dispensers were all empty) near the food aisle. I was thinking of maybe getting a snack like chicken tenders or nachos but I saw the menu and was very shocked to see the prices. I understand places like these are normally more pricey but the prices were more expensive than Times Square lol..... 12 dollars for tenders??? 10 dollars for a hot dog? was extremely thirsty so I got a drink in the vending machine. it was 2.75 . I never paid that much for a AQUAFINA bottle... usually it is 1.50 or 1.75. In addition to all this, the bowling pins were very glitchy in a sense that often times the scoreboard malfunctioned / froze or the pin / ball was not going smoothly and was stuck. Jib lanes, the alley is located in an almost "Subterranean cave" surrounded by apartment buildings. Look for the bowling alley sign or you will miss it. The bowling alley boasts a pro shop, Snack bar and vending machines. The lanes are maintained nicely and the equipment is decent, bowling ball selection is sufficient. Now the ball return area is shared with the other lane next to you. I wish other bowlers would have the courtesy to free up some space. Do you really need 8 bowling balls for 2 players?? Pricing during Holidays are a little steep. I recommend going during non holidays and early before the league bowlers come. They cater birthday parties as well. So if You want some Peace and quiet, ask to be placed away from the party area. Finding parking is a nightmare since all the spaces are already taken by tenants in the nearby apartment buildings. A good place to hang out with friends and family. There is also a food cafeteria area where you can order pizza, fries, hot dogs, soda, etc. 2 hour bowling for $48 to rent the whole lane, prices are definitely better than others bowling alleys. Of course, I wouldn't recommend a small group for 2 hours because that would be too tiring and also very expensive. Ideally it'll be good for 4-6 people if you plan to bowl for 2 hours. I enjoy bowling a lot, so I have my own ball and shoes. I'd recommend everyone to get their own shoes because bowling alley shoes are always worn out and smells of other peoples feet, disgusting. But if that doesn't bother you, it does cost $4.50 to rent shoes. A pair of shoes cost you $20-50 on average, and just think about how many times you would probably go in your lifetime. Overall, good experience at Jib, will definitely come back. I recommend calling ahead and making reservations as it can get very crowded at night. read more

Wound up here for the 1st time thanks to a groupon. Would never pay full price to come...was impossible to find a bowling bowl that was the right size for me. And it's just musty and dingy inside. The biggest fail was the concessions. Who doesn't like some greasy junk food when they go bowling? Our pizza took 15 mins to order and another 25 minutes to make and was not worth the price. The one bartender was so apathetic when I walked in to order a few beers I had to wait for her to finish a conversation before she'd take my order. Bowling alley is pretty decent. Its a slight bit dated, its due for a modern upgrade! The café has pretty solid food for cheap prices. a concern for most would be that the person behind the counter is "allergic" to all types of gloves and hair nets so he makes your sandwich without gloves.... I have found a hair or 2 in the past, but I cant complain for the price. During the school year, they serve different types of hot lunch which are pretty good! I am partial to the meatloaf which he tells everyone is his ex wifes recipe and is dying to give out her number for some reason. I am also a fan of his chicken parm, as well as his other chicken dishes. Breakfast is ok, I cant complain because it is so cheap... but he can put a little more butter on the rolls... Not a fan of the eggs in bottle, so I usually get egg whites. Bowling is expensive anywhere I think. They have good Groupons if you're interested. Place is clean and safe. They recently put security at the entrance which I'd say is a good thing. Food is good. Drinks are good at the bar. My go to bowling place. Also, over the summer you can sign your kids up to play 2 free games everyday which I think is awesome and gives kids a safe place to do something productive. read more

I would not recommend this bowling alley unless you would like to have frequent problems with your lane! We went here on a Thursday afternoon and all the other reviews are pretty accurate about the place being old and basically a rundown. I had a Groupon (luckily) because I would have regretted paying the "normal" rate for a place like this. Our lane froze on us maybe around 5 times in a span of 2 hours there and every time we pressed the "call service" no one showed up so we had to walk over to the front desk to ask them to fix it. It was annoying. I would go to the Whitestone alley over this one, that one almost never gave me problem. The food is decent, I tried their cheese and regular fries and it's freshly fried right there which is much better than cold stale food at some places. read more

Jib Lanes is very kids friendly! Celebrated my nephew's 8th birthday with 12 of his friends from school at Jib Lanes on a Saturday. The place is very modern and organized. We can keep our own shoes while renting the bowling shoes. There is a cafe to buy food and drinks and a mini arcade area. The bathroom is clean. The staff are friendly and helpful. The scoring machine is very easy to use. I heard there was a major renovation here which they did a pretty good job on. Jib Lanes is perfect in holding kids' birthdays because they offer a pretty decent package which is hard to beat elsewhere. The package includes a couple of bowling games, food, and attentive service. In the end, each kid will leave happily with a complementary party favor. The only and I really mean only downside is that you get little or no reception here because Jib Lanes is located in the basement. Other than that, bowl on! read more

No parking lot, nearly impossible to find street parking. Our lane stopped operating while we were in the middle of a game but it was quickly fixed. I went bowling on a Groupon deal. We went Friday evening around 6:30pm and they had a tournament going on so when we arrived the guy at the front said we have to come back at 9:30pm when the lanes will be clear. We came back got our bowling shoes and went to lane 7. The reason I took a star away was because the food was horrible. We ordered the pizza and it taste really bad. If you're driving here you likely won't find parking. I didn't care for the fact that you have to go to a booth person to get a bowling ball, for one the person came across as lazy when it came to getting the balls and answering the questions. Secondly I didn't know the size and weight of the ball I needed right off the top of my head. Usually you'd need to pick the ball up and bowl to know if it's the right fit or not. Also you only get one ball and I always bowl with two because with one you have to wait for the ball to return to you after you roll. Lastly the music is very low, you can barely hear it. This place has been around forever. It's not one of the new NYC glitzy bowling alleys you'd use for a corporate event, but it's great to pop in with kids/ throw a kids bday party. Their prices vary, e.g. the rates were hiked up the day after thanksgiving, so check in advance. Was here most recently for a 10th bday party celebration. The group had lanes to themselves and the bowling alley did a nice job separating the multiple events going on at the same time. We did pizza and fries for the kids as well as brought a cake. Walk ins not welcome on busier nights. My party of 4 tried to get a lane with a recommended wait of 30 minutes. After waiting 30 minutes and checked, the wait changed to an additional 1 hr 15 minutes. I recommend making an online reservation, otherwise you'll be pushed to the back of the line. Worst experience ever! I've called yesterday to ensure they don't need reservation. I was being told no reservation needed and that they open at 9 am on Saturday's. I've arrived with my family at 10:33am, and was informed by the staff that We have to wait for 30 mins. we waited patiently for 37 mins and then went back to ask the staff how long more. He said another 15 mins because there's a league going on. Another 15 mins went by, and I've asked the same staff again. This time he said We had to wait for longer (people are finishing up, 2 more games). We left right after he said that. It was very unprofessional that he kept us waiting. I recently had the opportunity to bowl at Jib Lanes and I was pleasantly surprised. It was a Saturday evening and it was busy, but I did not have to wait too long for a lane. Parking was not bad, there is a huge lot across the street. The people behind the desk were very helpful and friendly. Andrew kept me informed about how long a wait to get a lane. He was helpful suggesting which bowling balls would be best to use. Denise was checking any issues that came up with the lanes and was on top of things. The both were making sure my group was having a good time. I ordered food from the snack bar and it was nice and hot and the lady working at the snack bar even brought the food to our lane. We went on a Sunday evening and there was about a 20 minute wait. They had a variety of balls available so finding the correct weight was easy! We had no technical issues with the lane we used. The staff members were helpful and accommodated our needs. Lanes offer guard rails and they have ball rollers available for children. Very disappointing experience , I went on a field trip here with a special needs class and the staff was very rude and gave my class a very hard time . Not only did the staff start off by yelling at several classes for simply walking around ; but when asked for a ramp for a child who had a physical disability the staff questioned us asking specifically which child needed it and made a huge deal singling the child out in front of others . Our class was bowling and enjoying the time and after a few rounds she came over stopped us and essentially scolded us for bowling too fast and complained of us walking around . I'm very unsatisfied and will NOT be returning to this business again especially for a field trip . If you are a school please consider using another bowling alley. read more

I am not much of a bowler and quite frankly haven't been to a bowling alley in probably over a decade so I don't have much to compare this place to. This bowling alley does not having a parking lot, but we did not have trouble finding street parking two blocks over. The neighborhood seems a little shady to me and it didn't help that when we walked into the bowling alley we were greeted by a security guard who waved us down with a metal detector. Hm, stuff must've gone down often here! I suppose I should feel safe knowing no one bowling that night had a weapon. Anyhow, we came here on a Saturday night around 10pm with no reservations and there were plenty of lanes available - awesome. We got two lanes for two hours for $140, this includes shoe rentals. (Note: I just found out they have a current Groupon promotion going on so definitely be sure to check Groupon before coming here for better prices! Fail on our half because we didn't.) FYI, with 4-6 players per lane, two hours can probably get you about three games. The employees here are so friendly and lighthearted, nice to see people who don't hate their jobs. The facility is very clean and has plenty of bowling balls of different weights, they even have a special dragon bowling ramp so toddlers can bowl as well. They serve drinks including beer as well as your typical bowling alley finger foods. We didn't try anything except the fries and had some beers because we came here immediately after dinner.
