It was so wonderful we went back to celebrate with his friends at Laser Bounce on July 10 which was even better. Couldn't believe it but we stayed for 6-7 hours straight. Kids had a blast in the ball pit, in the bouncy house and laser tag. 5 Kids & 3 adults enjoyed a large pizza cut into 16 slices, 4 orders of buffalo wings, an order of loaded nachos, and 2 large lemonades (no ice). Almost forgot, kids had mini melts and they were so good, we reordered 2 more near the end of the night. The park stretches for almost 3 miles from Main St to Frances Lewis Blvd with its widest part between its namesake Kissena Blvd and 164th St to its narrowest part at Utopia Pkwy. Most of the park is accessible, but there are some wild parts with dense foliage, fallen trees and marshland, better suited for wildlife. The park also encompasses the Kissena Park Golf Course, which is fenced off. If you want to hike the entire length of the park, you can hike along the northern perimeter of the golf course. The golf course is public with greens fees around $30. You'll see golfers there in all types of weather except when it's snow covered. The course entrance is on Booth Memorial, east of 164th St. There are many playgrounds sprinkled along the whole stretch with jungle gyms, monkey bars & slides, along with tennis, basketball & handball courts and softball, baseball & cricket fields. You can generally play sports in the fields if nobody is there, but if you're an organized team, it's best to get a scheduled permit from NYC Parks & Recreation. Also hidden inside the park are many memorials along paved and unpaved walking trails and a surprise velodrome and a lake with plenty of waterfowl.

It is in pretty good condition, and while it is geared toward a younger audience, there's something for everyone. The equipment includes some ladders, slides, and monkey bars. There are some swings, mostly geared toward younger kids. There's a water pad that's in decent condition. When school isn't in session, there are also tennis courts, squash courts, basketball court, a baseball diamond (on cement)... they are all not in the best shape, but they're certainly usable. I've seen kids and adult groups using them all. There are also some benches and tables if you want to rest, play a chess (chess boards embedded within the table tops), or eat. Down a level are some very overgrown bocce ball courts - they almost feel like relics and aren't quite usable. But there are also more places to walk or sit. And bathrooms!

Today I accompanied my child's class on a school trip to Jib Lanes Bowling Alley. Once we arrived at 10:00 AM. Management refused to open the lanes until every single child was seated. Our school was one of multiple schools in attendance so needless to say that the establishment did not even have enough seating available for the amount of students in attendance. After waiting for over 20 minutes with excited and anxious children, management finally decided to start the machines and open the lanes. After the children were finally allowed to start playing one of the children walked onto one of the lanes and was quickly retrieved and safely escorted back to their seat by school staff. Jib Lanes Management immediately began to scream and shout in a loud and aggressive voice over the public announcement speakers, scaring the children. He began threatening the children, stating that if one more child walks into a lane he would shut down all of the machines and all of the lanes and kick all of the classes out of his establishment.

The gym area is "kid heaven"! All of the kids LOVED it.
