The focal point of the amusement park is the historic Flushing Meadows Carousel. It contains four rows of figures, including 64 jumping horses, 7 standing horses, a lion, and 2 chariots. It was created to serve patrons of the 1964 New York World's Fair by combining two earlier carousels, both of which were carved in Coney Island in the first decade of the twentieth century by renowned carver Marcus Illions. The two historic carousels used for its construction were the Feltman's Carousel (1903) and the Stubbman Carousel (1908). While the 1964 World's Fair was going on, the carousel was located in the Lake Amusement Area. In 1968, the carousel was moved to its current spot which is adjacent to the Queens Zoo. In 2012, NY Carousel Entertainment was awarded the contract to operate the Flushing Meadows Carousel. The company made cosmetic repairs to the machine, repainting it, sanding and staining the historic wooden floor, and adding new fencing to the entire area. The following year, Fantasy Forest Amusement Park opened. The carousel was joined by additional rides which include the Corona Choo Choo, the Twirling Teacups, the Bouncy Baja Buggies, the Corona Cobra Coaster, and the Queens Motor Speedway. My family and I recently visited Fantasy Forest Amusement Park while we were spending the day at Flushing Meadows-Corona Park. We spent the morning at the Queens Zoo and the small amusement park is conveniently located next to it. Although there aren't many rides at Fantasy Forest, the ones that they do have are very fun. We told our sons that they could pick any two rides to go on. First, they both accompanied me on the Queens Motor Speedway. My sons liked how the cars quickly zip around the corner during each course rotation. Afterwards they both accompanied my wife on the beautiful carousel. Overall we had a fun visit the Fantasy Forest and we hope to stop again on a future visit to Flushing Meadows-Corona Park!

The restroom is located toward the back of the facility, about halfway through, but it's not a far walk at all. I have heart failure, and even I had no trouble getting there. The café is reasonably priced with lots of kid friendly options, including muffins, grilled cheese, personal pizzas, chips, ice cream, juice boxes, and other common snacks children enjoy. One of the best parts is the unlimited play. Once you've checked in, you can leave and return as many times as you'd like until they close at 8:00 p.m. I'm visiting on a weekday in July, and while there are a lot of families here, it doesn't feel overcrowded because the space is so large. Everyone has plenty of room to play. I do want to add that they allowed a camp in and those kids came in pushing and shoving so many children including mine. Staff aren't attentive to any needs of the children at all. I think when a large group comes in like that, staff needs to keep a close eye. On Thursdays mid July, they're offering a $1 personal pizza with each paid child admission. I'm not sure how long the promotion will last, but it's a great deal. You're also welcome to bring your own water and ask about dietary restrictions if your child has any. They say no food allowed but many people have Tupperware and their own foods. It's not enforced. My only suggestion would be to include one free adult admission with each paid child ticket, as many indoor play places do. Here, each accompanying adult pays $7.99. Overall, this has been a fantastic experience, and my kids absolutely love it. We'll definitely be coming back!

Activities like arts and crafts never happened, and "swim instruction" was just free play. The bus service was chaotic, with extreme delays, poor communication, and at one point my son's bag (with his AirTag) was left on another bus, causing me to panic thinking he was lost. He also spent hours in wet clothes after a rainstorm. This camp is unsafe, misleading in its advertising, and not equipped for young children or attentive parents. I cannot recommend it to anyone.

When school isn't in session, there are also tennis courts, squash courts, basketball court, a baseball diamond (on cement)... they are all not in the best shape, but they're certainly usable. I've seen kids and adult groups using them all. There are also some benches and tables if you want to rest, play a chess (chess boards embedded within the table tops), or eat. Down a level are some very overgrown bocce ball courts - they almost feel like relics and aren't quite usable. But there are also more places to walk or sit. And bathrooms!
