Empty bar
Deanna A.

Good ole' bait and switch. There are literally 3 signs announcing happy hour all night. Then the downstairs bar tell you the upstairs bar has happy hour and Vice versa. When you finally ask for the manager they say ok you can have the special that has multiple signs you have to stay at the empty bar. So I decided to be a Karen and torture the empty bar.

Go with a big party!!!! we had a great time and the food portions are huge and they do not disappoint. They don't do pictures of beer, so prepare yourself if you choose to take on a tower!!! There's a bunch of other fun stuff to do here like pool and ping pong. A great second date!!

Amazing chicken!

I had a pretty wonderful time! For 45 bucks you get 90 mins of bowling, shoes, two drinks, pizza, and some of the best chicken tenders I've ever had! We had a blast and the servers were all very kind and attentive. We inquired about their karaoke room but that was an insane price of $300 mins for an hour. So after we bowled we just hung out and had some drinks in the lounge. Not a bad way to spend an evening!

Went for the first time and I have to say was a good time the bartenders were great the food was great and tasty . It's a good place to go and have fun.

Came here for a work event and this place was super spacious. You can pick up your shoes and then start bowling at an aisle. The service here is great and everyone has a fun time here. The music that was being played will also get you in your best bowling mindset

This was my first time coming to this bowling lounge and I honestly wish they had one of these locations everywhere because it was so much fun! Tickets came with 1 Hr 55 Min Bowling, Shoes, 2 Standard Beer, Wine, Well, or Soda Drink Tickets per guest and 1 Half Platter of Margherita Pizza & Chicken Tenders per Lane for $39.95 pr. guest; and let me tell you those chicken tenders were so bomb I would pass on the pizza and just get the tenders. Staff were super nice, they have karaoke area, and game area as well (you do have to pay extra to be in the gaming area) but it's definitely a nice vibe especially with the live DJ playing some bangers! The game area has the huge Jena game, connect 4, ping-pong, and tvs to watch the games. It is 21 and over so you definitely got to bring your ID! They will NOT let you in if you do not have your ID. If I'm in the area again I would definitely be back!

Philly cheesesteak & Burger

We came here on a Saturday night to celebrate a friend's birthday. It was a nice crowd and they had a DJ so the music was very lively. Between the Philly cheesesteak and the burger, the Philly cheesesteak was the better choice. One of the things I didn't like about their policy is they begin your "2 hour" time at the time you requested, regardless if you are late. The person who put their card has to be there before they can give you the lane.

Bowling birthday parties are only for kids? Nope, we're doing bowling for my birthday! I haven't bowled in a few years, so it was time to dust off the ball & shoes and shake off the rusty joints. My wife set up the party reservation with Laura. We were expecting 30+ people, so we were placed on 6 lanes for 2 hrs of bowling with food & drinks served at each pair of lanes. We arrived just before opening at 11am on a Sunday and rode the elevator up to the 2nd floor. They let us in a few minutes early to get set up with shoes & ball selection. I remember the lanes here in Port Authority from the old days (80's) and they have really modernized the place. With electronic scoring system, you don't have to do math with pencil & paper anymore. Soon platters of party food & pitchers of soda arrived. The Chicken Fingers are crispy & HuGe! They came with a variety of dipping sauces. Next were the Buffalo Wings, which were pretty mild as was the Blue Cheese dipping sauce. We also had a platter of crispy fries and another of Hamburger Sliders, which were really good. Everybody was enjoying the food and throwing strikes & spares with high fives all around. It had been close to 10 years since I've touched a bowling ball and it showed with my erratic throws, but the old muscle memory came back at the end when I threw a XXX "turkey" in the 10th frame. It was a welcome birthday gift to myself knowing I still got it ;)

I ended up going to Frames Bowling Lounge for a evening work function. My colleagues and I took the subway to get to Frames Bowling Lounge. It's located near Time Square. When you first walk in, you'll notice a bar area to your left. It was completely empty at the time we had entered. The bar had plenty of seating available. The Frames Bowling Lounge is located on the second floor. You have to take an elevator up to the second floor. Just to note, the elevator's max capacity is 5 people only. When my colleagues and I got to the second floor, there was a long line waiting to go down the elevator. Once you walk in though, you're presented with a lot of bowling lanes and TV screens. The shoes are off to your right, within individual cubby spots that light up. Shoe sizes are labeled on the bowling shoes. Bowling balls are provided complimentary from Frames Bowling Lounge. We had some food catered through Frames Bowling Lounge. Some of the offerings included the following Flatbread Spicy Pizza Mini Meatball Sliders Chips and Guacamole Chicken Empanada The food was decent. The Chips and Guacamole were my favorite though. There was seasonings on the chips that really enhanced the Guacamole dip! Bowling was fun. It was easy to setup our user names in the system. Our team didn't have any issues with the lane or the pins. Service was slow at the bar though. I only had requested soda, a sprite. Each time I went to the bar area, all of the team members were extremely busy. I would have to wait over 15 minutes each time. There is also an arcade, ping pong, and pool tables in the Frames Bowling Lounge area where you can hang out. Frames Bowling lounge is modernized and I had a lot of fun! The bowling lanes were really oily though. My bowling ball hook so much! This is a great location to host events at. If you're looking to practice bowling, I'd recommend a different location.

Fries, Chips, and Guacamole.

The boyfriend planned a date night here and he made reservations ahead of time. For two hours of bowling for two people, it was almost $140, which is very pricey. Since you're reserving by lanes, it's definitely more worth it if you come with 4-6 people instead of 2. The shoe rental is included as well, where you can grab yourself along their wall of shoes once we checked in. The space is modern and fun with a clubbing vibe. They have screen playing music videos and the place goes into dark mode after 6pm too. While we were bowling, we got some fries to snack on, which also came with guacamole and chips. The servers were also great about refilling our drinks as well. Overall, fun experience but it's pricey, especially being located in the middle of Times Square.

Has anyone done karaoke with the VIP lounge & if so how was your experience & was it worth adding on?

Yes we got the karaoke room. It's beautiful in there and you can add food to your package. Not sure how much because my friend handled all that but she got the package with bowling, food and karaoke room. Only thing I will mention is they are… Read more

Do you guys have a dress code or we can come in sweatpants?

No dress code!

How do i reserve the VIP Bowling Alley? Are there any requirements for that?

You have to send them a message & someone will get back to you. I did that because I'm interested too in the VIP lounge & they got back within 24hrs.

Do the VIP Bowling Lounges fill up quickly? I'm planning to book it a little over three weeks in advance but I'm not sure if I should book it earlier. Any advice?

Book as soon as you can; lanes do fill up quickly - and the VIP suite is fantastic. We look forward to having you.

Hi, we (couple from the Netherlands) want to come bowling on Friday the 27th while visiting New York. We want to book an hour bowling, afterwards enjoy the dj from 11. I tried to reserve but there is a minimum of 4 guests, can we book for 2 as well?

I believe you can reserve a lane but I would try to book it earlier in that day if it's not allowing you to book online. So try to call them maybe?

Are sneakers ok?

Sneakers are fine.

Do they offer hookah here?

No just drinks and other activities

If not everyone in my party wants to bowl can they still order at the bar and sit with us at the bowling area?

Yeah. You're basically paying for the hour. So 10 people is like 10 hrs so if someone else started bowling y'all would lose the last frame or whatever that works out to be

What's the lastest time for a mix group with teens and adults to come on Saturday night?

I believe its until 8pm on Friday and Saturdays. Then its 21+ after

Do they have hookah?

My apologies, we do not offer hookah. We do have group rates and party packages available to host that perfect night out! See: www.framesnyc.com / event packages for more details. Looking forward to hosting you soon.

What are the prices?

The prices vary depending on how many people and what menu you select. If you call , they will email you all the info you need. Also - if you go at night be sure everyone is 21. They will ask for ID.

Are the kids 6 years old and 8 years old allowed to play bowling?

I think the only age restrictions are after 8pm, when the 21 yr age restriction is strictly enforced.

Is bowling 21+ or can a 19 year old come?

After 8pm we are 21+. Everyone must have a valid ID to enter the venue.

How is the music? Is there an option to play music from an iPhone if I book a birthday party here?

At night it's a mixture of today's top hits, hip hop, pop, and throw backs. At night there is DJ. I don't think there is an area for iPhone plug in, maybe in the karaoke room.

Is there duck pin bowling?

As far as I know they only have regular bowling but they also have billiards, ping pong, and karaoke.

I'm interested in reserving 2 lanes? Can I change or cancel My reservation?

Lanes can easily be reserved online at framesnyc.com but cannot be modified or refunded after completing payment for your booking. Please call with any additional questions: 212.268.6909 or email: sales@framesnyc.com

We were each given Arcade Game Cards-like a plastic credit card-and could play the Arcade games for free, by simply swiping our card. I don't know the amount on the card, but I felt like I got to play a lot of games. All in all, this team building event was very nice, and a lot of fun. I appreciated the fact that it was a non-alcoholic event so nobody became stupid. A definite five star time. I'm sorry I don't have any photos to show you.

Luckily we arrived early, but it was a bit upsetting that they couldn't provide an estimate of how long the wait might be, only a list of how long some other groups have currently waited, ranging up to 3 hours, which is a long time to spend wandering around Times Square waiting for a text. I also had some arcade credit from another Groupon, which we used to keep ourselves entertained for about 45 minutes during our wait. We were so happy when we finally got the text that it was our turn to bowl. It was a bit cramped at our area, not having quite enough space for everyone to sit comfortably or easily get from the seats to the bowling area without needing others to shift around.

Hidden in the basement of a hotel, but not quite so hidden, the street sign says "$5 Beers and Free Games - Thursdays & Fridays starting at 5pm and Saturdays at 8pm". Awesome deal for the area. Inside it's pretty spectacular. A huge circular fish tank, fun colorful lights and decor. Of course, the games. They have what I think was pac man or some arcade games on the tables. Ski ball in one corner and mini bowling in the other corner. The bowling system sometimes had issues and would shut down but workers fixed that stuff up fast in between rounds. Drinks were pretty tasty. You can be wild and crazy and order a gigantic fishbowl. They're a bit exorbitantly priced. Or just go with a traditional cocktail or their $5 beer specials. My favorite drink I tried was the Marble Queen: Milagro Silver, Coconut, Lime, and a chili salt rim. It tasted like a tequila pina colada. The Stout Old Fashioned was another great choice being both smoky and sweet. Food options. . . . nothing really totally stood out to me. A few appetizers were set up for a large group of us. The cheese with the pretzel nuggets was kind of good. The raw tuna poke in a jar was cute but also. . . . its just poke. I can eat poke not in a jar for way cheaper at so many places nearby. But I really liked some of the accompanying sauces that had like spicy mayo and a cilantro mayo kind of cream sauce. Sliders and nachos were just a-okay. Spinach artichoke cheese dip was a really small portion for a huge group to share. I think I ate like one spoonful but it tasted good. This spot is good for drinks and games more than food. But it's definitely worth checking out especially since the games are free!

We would play so much back at home, it became economical to buy my own shoes and bowling ball (and also clearly great props for picking up the ladies...) It is not normally something worth doing in NY, due to high prices and low availability, but when I first heard of Better Off Bowling (BOB), I got really excited. In total, there are 40+ teams sized between 6-10 people. The league is pegged as recreational, though don't be amazed if you see players scoring 180+. Each week (total of 6) you are paired against another team, using your team's top 4 scores to battle it out. At the end of the season, each team is put against a team of similar record in the playoffs, but there isn't really like a single-elimination tournament at the end to crown an overall champion. The current season is finishing up, but there will be a new season starting at the end of Feb with a Sunday league and possibly a Wednesday league as well. (I'll update this post once more information comes out) Regardless, it is another opportunity to do something unique in a city full of new and random activities, spending time with friends and drinking (half price) beer. There is also a great post-game bar with loads of flip cup and beer pong a happening. So far, the people I have met during competition and afterwards have been awesome and ready to party (especially "Table Man", if any of you are lucky enough to meet him). Don't let lack of bowling skill stop you from having some fun a normally boring Sunday afternoon. I highly recommend getting a group of friends together and joining up. After all, dodge ball was only cool when the movie came out, so you should pick a different sport anyways.

I ended up at Lucky Strike in Chelsea with a few friends after work, kind of a "why not, let's just…read morebowl" situation, and honestly, it did the job. The whole vibe is very "planned fun," but in a way that works. You walk in and it's loud, lights everywhere, music going, lanes on one side, arcade stuff on the other. There's that mix of corporate outings, birthday groups, and random people just hanging out. It's not trying to be some cool underground spot, it's more like, here's a lane, here's a drink, go have fun with your people. Once we got into our game and started trash-talking each other, it felt relaxed and easy. Service was pretty decent. Our lane server was around enough where we didn't have to flag anyone down, which I appreciate because I hate chasing someone for a drink. Things slowed a little once it got busy, but nothing crazy. Drinks showed up, food showed up, orders were right, no one got forgotten. Nobody was over-the-top friendly or anything, but everyone we dealt with was nice and kept things moving. For a big, kinda chaotic place, that's honestly fine. On value, yeah, this is where you remember you're in Manhattan. By the time you pay for the lane, shoes, a couple rounds of drinks, and some food to share, the bill is... not small. It's definitely not a cheap little casual night out. But if you think of it as paying for the whole "bowling + arcade + bar" package, it doesn't feel outrageous. It makes more sense for a group thing, team event, or birthday than just popping in for one quick game. Fun vibe once you lean into it, service that gets the job done, and prices that are a bit high but kind of expected for where it is. I wouldn't make it a weekly ritual, but if someone suggested going back, I'd probably be like, "yeah sure, I'm down."
