I must be entering the painfully nostalgic era of my life because I had the best time here. Dark and loud (good music, too!). We played Tetris and pinball. I played a car racing game with my husband and beat him (the highlight of the night). We drank beer and spilled beer. So fun and not very crowded, but not very friendly or welcoming. Unfortunately we had a bartender that wasn't so great, honestly he was rude and didn't take our correct food order. Food was good when the correct items came. On another note, we wanted to cut a cake and they charged us 5$ per plate to cut the cake. Ridiculous honestly. This is a drag if you want to bring a group of people with you. Tried to reach out for a private event and there were so many rules including minimum of 10 people, we had 8... so it's not very friendly for bigger groups and if you want to cut a cake at the establishment, they make it too complicated when you just want to hang out with friends, play games, eat and celebrate. They gave us bar tables next to each other with papers saying it was reserved taped to the sides which eventually got covered. Once the food came out random people kept coming up to the table and grabbing it. Came here to enjoy my lunch break with a friend. I've heard of this place a couple years back and wanted to try them out. This year was that year. Now I'm not sure if it was just that night but left a bit disappointed. First: they will I.D you at the door, don't let the arcade fool you. Which that part was fine we had our I.D'S just letting ya know. Second: The bartenders attitude was Peeved. Almost like we were bothering him at his Job. We asked him for our food and for some drinks. We put two orders of fries, wings and popcorn shrimps, with a water and a soda. Nobody finds you a seat, you gotta go pick that out yourself. Nobody brings you forks and napkins you gotta go get that yourself. Maybe if the energy of people were to be more lively, they wouldn't mind informing you on how things work. It was a figure it out yourself kinda place. As we're waiting for our food we played a little game or two. When the food came we noticed that the popcorn shrimps were burnt and one of the fries were missing. No drinks were brought either, which at that point we were unsure if we had to get it ourselves too. When we went to approach him about the drinks and fries, he gave us that look like we messed up. As he then had to put in the order for the other fries that he never put in. The bbq wings i would rate it a 7.5 out of 10 The shrimps were barely even eaten the person didn't enjoy it. Fries were also a 7.5 once the fresh ones came. First batch came a bit cold and greasy. Bathroom gives H.S bathrooms. Writings all over the wall and what not. Our company sponsored a happy hour for those who were within the NY area. They chose Barcade as the venue. The place was nice and neat. It was a little bit cramped, but you could still walk around without bumping into too many people. There was a good number of games, and a number of them were very nostalgic. I wish they had Punch Out, Outrun, Gyrus and Karate Champ. Two of the five pinball machines were not working, unfortunately. There was no "Out of order" sign, though. So, you will lose tokens if you try to play them. The bar food was good. We had a lot of sliders, chicken tenders, shrimp tacos (these were really good), tater tots and french fries. There also some veggies with hummus for those who didn't want any meat. As the pig that I am, I had all of them. Their bartenders did make some good drinks. I had a dirty gin martini, two gim sodas, a gin-based kamikaze and a gin sour. Yeah, it was a gin night for me for some odd-ball reason. LOL. All-in-all, it is a spot worth going to. You know what H*LL YES!! I was invited by my siblings to hang out at the Arcade last week and had a freaking awesome time!! I think I spent around $60 on games and drinks and an order of fries. I was killing it beat they tails in group Pac-Man and applauded myself like a legend. I had totally forgotten that this place existed and would highly recommend and return. It was busy but not too crazy, mixed crowd and decent internal temperature. The bar having food was clutch bc I was starving and they had a decent amount of mixed cocktails which I thought were a little pricey. The beer was decently priced but I wasn't drinking beer that night. Fried pickles are now allowed to come up to me and put me in a headlock if we ever meet again because the way I disrespected the thought of them before the magnificent moment where someone popped one in my mouth and I realized that they taste like mini Big Macs. Came here many times before in the past. Probably one of the few bars in the area that's a good spot for young people. The arcade machines here are hit and miss. Some great classics mixed in with a lot duds. If you came here to just play games you'll probably get bored after a short while. As I said, there's a lot of duds. Regular tots cooked to perfection. The burger was big and didn't feel like a smash burger at all, which is a good thing. The cheese was well melted and barely hanging on to the side. The pork rolls were a nice touch but didn't add much to it, I still enjoyed them though. It all came out to $18.50. Not expensive at all, at least compared to other burger spots in the area. The Margheritas here are so amazing, I ordered two. I didn't taste the alcohol in them at all. I also liked the other cocktail I ordered -- the Wrong Way. It didn't have a strong alcohol taste either. I tried a few foods here because I was here for an event: chicken tenders, buffalo wings, fried cauliflower (and I'm typically not a cauliflower fan), and I think a pulled pork slider. All the food was great. I had to keep going back for more chicken tenders -- I probably ate four. For a Thursday night, it was pretty packed and busy, but there were still plenty of games open. Went here on a weekday early-afternoon. They open at 2pm but I was there early. The doors were open but when I went in was told they were not open and to come back. I understand if the bar itself was not available yet but it would have been nice to at least let us play the games while we waited. Nonetheless, I had to go to another place first while waiting. They check 100% IDs with a device when you go in. Pretty big selection of draft beer and decent cocktail list. The bartender was super cool, knowledgeable about drinks. The games are paid for by tokens. They have token machines in the corner which costs .25 cents for one token (not bad!). They have nice selection of retro games to choose from. Some of the games ate a few tokens before working, but it is to be expected on those games. They have little tables near all the games so you can place your drinks down right next to you while playing which is great. Not the most incredible bar in the planet, but definitely a fun way to kill some time and have fun transporting back to older times. You also have to remember it is more of an arcade that serves drinks rather than a bar that has games. They had one other mocktail choice and juice/soda They have a ton of beers though to pick from around $8/each for a pint They've got a bunch of retro games in some sort of working order. Some games were broken which was a bummer so we lost a dollar or two on those but most of the games worked. Wished there was more space between the aisles as it was rough to move around people They do a security check on entry and don't allow any outside food/drinks so they make you leave it all up front. There not many tables or space by the games to put the food/drinks you order inside either so you'll spend most of your time shuffling your drink around while you play unless you get the little table space by each game. Prefer this location over downtown. Bigger, more open space, and better-maintained in my opinion. We went earlier in the day shortly after they opened, so everything was very clean and in order (including the bathroom). Most arcades token operated...taking 1-2 tokens for most games. Tokens can be purchased from machines throughout the space at 0.25 cents each.. (4/$1, 20/$5...). Service both at the bar and at the arcade area were great. Nice to see staff testing out the machines throughout the space. All machines we tried were working as expected. Beer prices were fair (for NYC) at about $8. Pints for the more common weaker stuff (under 6% or so) and 10oz. pours for the stronger stuff. Very easy to get to in the midtown area...lots of major stations and transportation hubs closeby. Given the average prices for beer and food, you'd definitely want to go there for the games...think of it is an arcade that serves beer and food...not a bar/restaurant with an arcade. read more

This was my first time at an arcade bar and I had a lot of fun! I came here for a work outing and wasn't sure what to expect but there were a lot of retro games and delicious food. It's a great place for a casual outing but it gets crowded quite quickly after 4pm. I am not well versed in arcade games but many of my coworkers are and they were pretty happy with the options here. AMAZING GAMES! One rude bartender (maybe owner? He's been here for a while). This bartender used to give me shit for ordering hard seltzer in cans. Not in a playful way, but in a "shame on you, get outta here" way. Last time I visited I noticed they have Truly on tap! Thankfully he didn't give me a hard time but filled my glass with ice without asking. Next few rounds I got another bartender who graciously let me order it without ice. Then I end up getting the dude again and he gave me my Truly in a whiskey glass (short tumbler) saying "you got some free Truly if you've been getting it in a pint without ice". Mind you, Truly here is $9 which is NOT cheap! Was at barcade around midnight on a Friday night and the place wasn't packed but it's a very nice and cozy relaxed bar. There's a decent amount of arcade games, some that I've seen and some that I've never seen before which was pretty cool. They had a good selection of drinks , got a taste of the mead they had and a drink of an apple cider drink they had. Prices were good and very nice service. The part that brings the review down for me personally was the selection of games they had. I know most arcade games are 1-2 players but this location only had about 3 games that were 3 players or more. Just makes it a bit hard for people in larger groups to sort of play together. My only complaint is that about an HOUR before they close, employees start coming up to you and saying 'just wanted to let you know, we're closing in 15 minutes', just standing real close to you and hovering even after you respond, intentionally distracting you from whatever game you're playing, which wastes your token. After hearing about Barcade and with the means to check it out, Barcade spontaneously came into our itinerary one day. The place was packed on a weekend night. You buy tokens by a machine, and each game costs about 2 tokens per person, with some games being multiplayer. There's also a couple table seating by the windows. I didn't feel the energy at first, but after playing 4 Player Pacman, the thrill of using up the tokens got to me! I didn't get to look closely at all the games offered, but there looked to be a decent range of shooting, fighting, tapping, and driving games. I wish there was a bit more structure like sign up lists for each arcade just for fairness sake and getting to explore other games, but I guess that defeats the tradition and fun of crowding around a game. Some of the games were busted though, with controls that don't work. I can see this as a fun date night idea. My friend and I were staying next door at the Hyatt and passed this place coming in. I looked them up and the menu looked interesting so we walked over. The bouncer asked for ID and covid vaccination card so I pulled out my phoneto get the vaccination. Before I could even show him my vaccination card he interpreted to say "only physical ID" like... Duh? I'm trying to give you all that you asked for which you would know if you were patient and or would bother to look Bothering to look seems to be an issue though since the bartender didn't look at us or the girl in front of us for about five minutes. He passed us multiple times, just refused to look up, didn't make any eye contact with anyone that I could see, and so we gave up and got hotel restaurant food. I and a group of friends came here after bowling, to play some arcade games and get some drinks. I'd been here once in the past and had a great time. Drinks, snacks, and nostalgic arcade games? What's not to love? However, on this particular day, a couple of friends decided to wear "ugly Christmas sweaters" as they were headed to a party afterwards. Unfortunately, we came on a day that Santacon was happening, and a staff member doubled down and told our friends that they couldn't wear their ugly Christmas sweaters and made them take it off. They kindly obliged. When they were ready to leave, they put them back on, but were told they had to leave the premises immediately. Mind you, this rule was enforced by one bartender AFTER drinks and tokens were purchased. The only place this rule was posted was Instagram (which we discovered after the fact), not physically posted anywhere in the bar and not enforced by a bouncer. To really make matters worse, a bartender walked past me at least three times, and a kind individual next to me had to get their attention so I could talk to them. This experience left a bitter taste in my mouth and I probably won't be frequenting this establishment again in the near future. read more
