Let me tell you! I've actually been wanting to visit this restaurant for quite some time. An…read moreopportunity came up and I was able to get to the restaurant with a few friends. At first glance , I thought the restaurant was absolutely adorable, i love that they repurposed an old home , and they kept a lot of really neat vintage pieces and a look as far as atmosphere goes. I felt it was very welcoming. I also love the fact that you could see the cooks in the kitchen. The service was really great.I don't believe we had an empty glass or ever had to ask for a refill on our drinks. Now for the food! When I tell you it is probably one of the best meals I've had in a while.I am not lying. My chicken was cooked to perfection. The flavor of my dish was absolutely delicious and comforting. The vegetables were cooked to perfection, i don't remember the last time I wanted more cooked carrots on my plate! My friends that join me , really had nothing but great things to say about it. Everybody agreed I picked well! We ordered seared scallops wrapped in bacon for the table, my scallop was so good.I almost didn't want to share. One of my friends also got their crusted fish (not pictured) and the brazed beef dish, ( also not pictured) I would one 100% go again as well as refer this restaurant to anybody who really wanted delicious food.

I easily counted at least 10 flies that we were having to swat away from our food, we were seated inside. S&P on the table was needed and should have been provided without asking. Cornbread should have been offered complimentary. We ordered the cornbread but did not finish it as it had an off taste and some cross contamination in the butter dish. Grilled Shrimp skewer was overcooked and unexpectedly had something like chili powder. Roasted vegetables were bland and needed some seasoning or at least salt. Husband enjoyed the pork chops but side of fries were lacking in crispness and flavor. Pork chops increased the review from one star to two. I had hopes for the bread pudding and it did have good flavor BUT was lacking the key ingredient of rum, burboun, or whiskey. I'm not sure how the reviews are as good as they are or how they stay in business. Do not recommend! The one saving grace was that we came here to use our AMEX Resy benefits, so not much out of pocket.

The moment you step inside, the noise outside fades into something warmer -- replaced by the hum of conversation, bursts of laughter, and the comforting rhythm of a place full of life. The room buzzes with stories from long days, friends catching up over coffee, and the familiar clatter of plates and silverware. From the kitchen comes the constant symphony of sizzling grills, clanging pans, and ice tumbling into glasses, all blending together into the kind of atmosphere that feels alive rather than loud. It's the sound of comfort. And then there's the smell -- sweet maple syrup drifting through the air, butter melting slowly over stacks of golden flapjacks, fresh coffee brewing somewhere nearby. Every detail makes the diner feel less like a restaurant and more like a memory you didn't realize you missed. It's cozy, genuine, and full of warmth -- the kind of place that makes you want to stay a little longer after the meal is over.

Their customer service is amazing. Our waitress knew customer's name like they have been friends forever. Reasonable prices for the meal. I had their Abel's breakfast and it was better than average and it came out fast too. From the time we put our name on the waiting list till the time I had my meal was about 30 minutes. Not bad. It was pretty packed inside and had a country home feel with their decor. So if you're looking for a quick, decent meal that won't hurt the wallet. Look for this corner diner in the shopping center in Schertz.

One morning we decided to take him and walk around Gruene and eat lunch. There wasn't much going on there, so we got back in the car and headed elsewhere to eat. I had never been to Buttermilk Cafe, but my wife has been several times with the grandson and his parents. I got a little nervous when we went inside. It was a bustling place, and I was concerned that the wait might be too much for the baby. Fortunately, the wait was about five minutes. This place smells like heaven. The food that we ordered was wonderful. I had the house smoked salmon with toast points and a poached egg. My wife had a slice of quiche, an orange muffin, and some fruit. The baby had a turkey sausage patty, one of my toast points, and some of my wife's fruit. Everyone was super friendly. The staff were wearing football jerseys to celebrate the Super Bowl. Our server was terrific. The patrons were all happy and sociable.

Driving into their large parking lot, and seeing it completely full, let us know that it was going to be packed. Walking inside, we saw it was packed, but they got us seated rather quickly. After getting to our seats, the waitress arrived with menus very quickly and asked if she could start us off with coffee. We took her up on the coffee, and before she came back, we decided what we wanted. We all ordered something completely different, and mine was one of their famous waffles. I also got a side of bacon. The food came pretty quickly considering how packed they were. All orders were just as ordered. My waffle came with syrup and butter on the side so that I could use as much/little as I wanted. Everything was very good, and our waitress never let our coffee mugs get even half empty. She was really good at her job and was also a very good conversationalist. Will I return? Definitely!

The good: The beer selection was solid, and the cucumber margarita was genuinely delicious. The not-so-good: * Wedge Salad: The salad itself was fine, but the highlight--bacon--was extremely sparse. Six tiny squares were placed on the edge of the plate, which felt oddly rationed and not nearly enough to enjoy throughout the salad. * Mussels: This was the most concerning dish. We expected mussels in a white wine and garlic sauce, but instead received them in a buttery yellow-orange sauce with a very unpleasant odor. The smell was not "fishy" but something far more off-putting--honestly resembling manure. I've worked in the restaurant industry for years and don't send food back lightly, but this was not normal. The server said the smell was typical, suggesting vinegar may have made it "pungent." Ultimately, the manager told us we still needed to pay for the dish, which we did without argument, though the experience was disappointing. * Shrimp Appetizer: It was fine, but nothing memorable or worth raving about. * Burger: The patty was overcooked, the bun was dry, and the fries ended up being the best part--crispy and greasy. Overall, we were hoping for a much better experience. While the drinks were enjoyable, the food quality and response to legitimate concerns left a lot to be desired.

The flavors were on point, well-seasoned, and cooked with care. I especially enjoyed the fried chicken, the cabbage, and those black-eyed peas--pure comfort food done right. I do want to share one note for transparency. The catfish entrée came with one piece of fish. It was a nice size (unfortunately I didn't grab a picture), but I'm used to receiving two fillets with a catfish entrée, so that part was a little disappointing for the price. We also ordered a catfish sandwich to go, and while this didn't take away from the overall experience, an additional piece of fish would better match expectations. Now let me give credit where it is absolutely due. The young woman working the front--Ariel (I believe it's spelled A-R-I-E-L, and I apologize if I missed that)--was phenomenal. She was cashier, to-go coordinator, and full-on mama energy, handling everything with grace, patience, and a great attitude. Even as it started getting busy (you know how folks roll in after church), she still made space for friendly chit-chat while keeping everything moving. Another thing I truly appreciated: the place was clean. And for me, that matters. Spotless, inviting, and the only thing in the air was the smell of that delicious food--no distractions, no off-putting odors, just good cooking doing what it's supposed to do. The food is served in to-go containers and everything is cooked to order, so expect a little bit of a wait--but honestly, who would mind waiting for food prepared this fresh? Overall, this was a great experience with great food and excellent service. I'll definitely be back--and hopefully next time there's just a little more catfish on the plate.

I ordered the pulled pork combo with Mac and cheese on the side. My husband ordered the brisket plate with a side of Mac and cheese and potato salad and a Sweet tea. We also ordered and pulled pork combo to go for our son. To me the pulled pork was okay. I think it needed more bbq sauce maybe. It was hard to tell what it was missing. You do have to pay extra for extra bbq sauce. We got the sweet bbq sauce an it was okay. I wasn't a fan of the Mac and cheese, I felt it needed some seasoning. The potato salad was good. My husband got the brisket and said it was a little chewy. He didn't like sweet tea, and said it had a weird taste. The food wasn't bad, it's just I had high expectations because of the what I have heard about how good it was. However, I did go when it was about an hour to closing so maybe that had something to do with it. I might try it again.
