I will get the one bump out of the way that has nothing to do with Merrell's and everything to do with those persons lacking situational awareness. Remember mother teaching inside voice versus outside voice esp on cell phones with LOUD speakers. We all have a right to enjoy our meal within a reasonable sound decibel. I said, let's move. He said no, we'll wait for our food and eat right here. That was until the first deafening shriek emanating from the cell and then he snapped to attention like he was back in the war. Oh, yes. We moved far enough to another table and Abbey didn't judge us. She did comment but you guys were there first. Peace matters. I'll take peace, final answer. We ate a light lunch today. Let's get serious tho! You cannot go wrong with the six (6) mini Calzones and Stromboli Appetizer! Impeccable! The restaurant is small and with a standard theme, but it was neat and clean. The food was hot and fresh too. Right off the bat, I was excited to try the pizza. I'm tired of all the chain pizza places in the area, and Anthony's did not disappoint. The flavor was interesting, maybe an acquired taste with whatever ingredients they use, but I still enjoyed it! Especially the thin & crunchy crust, not doughy! The mozzarella sticks were also as expected. I have no complaints and would like to try an entree sometime.

The pizza was good, but asides being slightly bigger, I felt it was not much different than your typical local pizza restaurants in the update. More specifically, the quality is not what several reviews are calling NY pizza. Single slices are available, but I felt that they were underwhelming. I ate my Sicilian slice not long after I received my order, but whether it was out there all day or not, it just tasted ok. Service is pretty good! It was a full house inside with multiple families with a lot of young children and the staff did a good job attending to everyone. My order took 20-25 minutes to felt, but I thought that was fine considering how busy it was. Overall, it's good pizza, just not "New York" pizza. I'd try it again in hopes that I'm wrong.

Especially with their website advertising "NY style pizza" which is always my favorite to find. We got the Margherita pizza, which was made well, tasty, and had thin crust, though definitely not considered "Italian," as the pizza had no sauce. It was practically a white pizza with toppings, not an authentic Margherita. With a side of some marinara though, it definitely added some of that missing flavor! Service was also quick, despite it being a busy night, and there was a large selection of drinks. The atmosphere was full of energy and loud music too, which wasn't a problem. I'd definitely go back to try other pizzas!

Henry gets the mini corn dogs, has for years, though we've now heard whispers that once they're out, they're gone for the rest of time, no substitutions, which has turned his order into something closer to a small bet. I get the same thing every time: the 10 inch personal pizza, pepperoni and onions, and two PBR liters. I've never once considered another combination. This is not indecision. This is a system that works, refined over years of Fridays, and I see no reason to disturb something that's already won. -- UPDATE: Wild Ace responded directly to address Henry's corn dog anxiety, confirming the mini corn dogs are staying and new kids' meal options are coming soon. Henry has not yet been informed of this development, mostly because I want to see how many more Fridays I can get out of him worrying about it.

My husband thought it was amazing, I liked it fine but having cheese like that wasn't my favorite, I'm more of a melted cheese type person. My wife and I made our fourth or fifth brunch trip to Southern Grown in Greer, SC. (If you're…read moredriving down Wade Hampton, pass the Home Depot and Lowe's, and get to the QT-Walgreens-Spinx-Taco Bell intersection, turn north and you're nearly there.) The original location, further south behind the Hibachi Cafe, was "cozy" (real estate agent-speak for "small"), but this new venue is large, wide open, and has both a covered patio and outdoor seating. Laminated menus are available at the door, but you'll need to walk toward the back, get in line, and order at the bar. The staff is pretty quick, and the menu is succinct enough that the line usually moves fast. After ordering, you're given a coaster-pager and can find a picnic-table-like place to sit. I usually get a burger, but this time I went with the Classic Chicken Sandwich, $12.50. It's a generous panko-encrusted breast with lettuce, tomato, and some fine dill pickles. Tender and juicy with a good crunch. My wife got the Classic Burger, $15. This big ol' burger is a thick Angus patty with American AND mozzarella cheese and dill pickles. I got the really good, hand-cut, crispy fries; my wife opted for the house potato chips. Either side is a great choice, so we shared. Our lunch guests shared their House Pretzel with us. Each comes with a side of beer cheese and maple dark mustard, $9. The pretzel alone is worth the ride out there. Warm and soft on the inside, with a hard--almost tough--authentic German-style crust. The two sauces are equally great, and both were also very good with my fries after we fought over the last bits of the pretzel. Our two Diet Cokes were remarkably cheap for these days: $1.85 each. I suddenly thought it was 1994 again! JUST BECAUSE it was October, we got the pumpkin cheesecake. My wife made a very wise decision. It was more like a whipped pumpkin pie than a cheesecake in consistency, with an oat crust and a sprinkle of brown sugar and whipped cream on top. I could have eaten two more slices of this sweet, light dessert, but at $7 a slice, I held back. With Greer's hospitality tax and SC sales tax, our bill came to $45.33. We've only gone to the new location for after-church brunch, so I'm not sure if the menu changes radically from week to week. The menus have limited dates at the top, so I'm guessing there's some item rotation. I've heard the dinner menu includes a bratwurst, which I'd love to try. Overall, it's an easy place to drop in and grab a higher-end sandwich. Side note: Years ago, we tried the place when it was behind the Hibachi Cafe. The server was annoyed with me because I didn't understand a question, and that spoiled any thought of trying the place again. I recall a soup being rather nice, but I felt like I was a mere annoyance. It's sad, but it doesn't take much to turn customers away. I'm glad my wife wanted to try it again at this new location. She is far wiser than I am

After we had placed our entree orders, the two of our group who ordered side salads got theirs quite quickly. Both said they were delicious, but our expectation was that a side salad is delivered with the entree, not as a separate course while the other two had nothing yet. All four entrees came out together. My Chicken Parmigiana was delicious and I would definitely have it again. There was enough to take home. My wife had Chicken Piccata and she liked hers too.
