Redeemed a Birthday Pizza at Sidewall this afternoon. I had a root beer float, the vanilla ice cream was unique and quite good. The Protein Pizza had a lot of meat on it, salty prosciutto and big pepperoni. Nice chew to the crust, it was a well made delicious pizza. We walked in the front door and saw an open table, grabbed it, and went to the bar area to order. Not knowing how things worked (it was our first time there), we didn't realize one had to see the host first who was stationed at the side entry. It would've helped a LOT if there'd been a sign at the front entry, like, "Please see the host in order to be seated." As it was, the host was not happy with us for grabbing the open table (as it turned out, not open table, since one can text ahead of time to get on a waiting list, which we did not know). We were a bit put off by the impatience of the host, so we changed our minds and made the order a takeout order. The resultant pizza was not good. The crust was pretty okay, but the pesto was flavorless. The caramelized onions weren't caramelized, but maybe steamed (?). The result was that they were flavorless. And the restaurant didn't add the arugula we'd ordered. A disappointing experience. We won't be back. read more

Mushroom was average, it was lacking a bit of flavor, it needed maybe a drizzle of pesto. Good cook on the crust, but the bottom of the pizza could have used a longer cook to crisp it up. We LOVE Sidewall and whenever we are in the area, we try to stop by! Normally salads are an afterthought in a pizza place but not here. But the pizzas are delicious- as good as we remember from the last time we were here. So to solve the problem, we had pizza for lunch and got salad and breadsticks (did I mention the breadsticks are addictive?) to go for dinner. Don't forget to save room for the ice cream. Always chocolate and vanilla and a handful of creative rotating special flavors (hubby had chocolate Sunday and I had the vegan Mexican chocolate). Ashlyn, our server was great - personable and good service. The four star rating has nothing to do with the food but rather the "ambiance". It is a small restaurant and it is located on a busy street (we ate outside so the road noise was constant) and the parking lot was small and tight. We ended up parking in the lot behind the restaurant. This restaurant is TINY so we either do takeout or eat lunch here right when they open. The service has always been good but we have been one of the only ones in the restaurant haha. I love getting the protein pizza or just the little pepperonis. Their ranch dressing is delicious but a little pricey for $1 for a teeny ramekin of it. I work in the food service industry, I love a good wedge salad, which they have. However, when I place an online order for a salad (that had no protein that needs to be cooked - aka prosciutto) and still have to wait when I get there is ridiculous. I placed the order at 2:48, expected time to be ready 3:18. I show up at 3:35, and still had to wait 10 minutes for said salad. When the lady finally came back out of the kitchen, no prosciutto on my salad, she had to go back and spend another 3 or so minutes making me wait for a salad I had now ordered almost an hour ago. I don't like to complain, but this isn't the first time I have had to wait over 45 minutes for a salad that literally takes no longer than 10 minutes to make. I order a 14" Protein Pizza for takeout. I picked it up right at the time I was told it was going to be ready which was also when they texted me that it was ready. Then I drove about 10 minutes home. By the time I got home the pizza was cold and looked like it had sat a little while. It definitely did not look like it came out of the oven 10 minutes before. Compared to other pictures of Protein Pizzas amount of toppings I received look to be less than others and similar to some of those with less toppings. The crust is very thin and so you can easy fold the crust in half in order to eat it. The toppings seem to be quality ingredients. Lots of great flavors. The crust flavor really good. It was a soft, chewy crust with no crisp to it at all. Unfortunately because the crust is so thin that when I heated the pizza in my oven (because it was cold when it got to my house) at 325 degrees it got burnt very quickly all the way to the edge. (I was house sitting for a family and they told me that they heat their pizza at this temperature. I typically heat my over at 210-220 to keep it warm). The quality of the dough and ingredients seem excellent but I'm not a fan of this very thin crust especially at this price. read more

But the main reason for the review...is the crazy cluster of confusion when you are entering and or attempting to either pick up an order, put your name on the list or pay your bill and exit. It's just too small of an area and the flow is horrendous.... They probably could use another computer to assist with payments. I've heard of Sidewall, several of our friends have been to it, but I finally came here last Friday, late lunch date with my son. I've driven by it on Pelham Road and thought it must have been small and dark. Quite the contrary, a very light, bright feeling though it helped that it was sunny. Nice decor and looked like the walls on one side could open up like garage doors which would give an even more open feeling. You'll see in one of the photos I posted how the counter is open between the outdoor and indoor . . What I picture downtown and in Asheville. I had carefully taken pictures without the customers sitting down so there was another section that had them at tables. And though my son & I were there at 3 pm, it was surprising how many people came to eat. Not a very big parking lot near the place though you can easily find more parking adjacent but walk. Our waitress was great! We were away from everyone else and hidden yet she checked on us, refilled drinks, and since one pizza is gigantic, and we ordered two, brought take home box. My pizza, the Roasted Vegetable was absolutely delicious. And even reheated, very good. My son's Meatball was good though he wasn't as wowed by it so it would have been a bit hard to stomach the price, pun intended. Overall, I was quite pleased with the experience. I don't normally eat pizza since my husband can't have gluten nor dairy so naturally this would not be a place we would frequent. Yet, great vibe especially if hanging out with friends. I always try to support family owned businesses, especially if they go above and beyond when it comes to ingredients. Just ordered a bacon bliss pizza and a large breadstick. Got the text it was ready and went in. We live less than 2 miles away (we could walk). We got home and the breadsticks were piping hot, but a tad under done. The pizza was literally room temperature and significantly smaller than past orders. You can tell by the photo that the cheese doesn't even try to run where it's cut. The last time we ordered we got the wrong pizza. I didn't complain, but this is the last time for us. Really I've never had a less than awesome pizza here. The salads are wonderful, I love the pear one its great to share. The ice cream is house made daily with lots of unique flavors so always ask what they have for the day, it normally sells out by early dinner. They offer one of my favorite beers, Golden Monkey for just $4 which normally is overpriced at other places due to its high gravity. The atmosphere is open and clean, modern feeling with awesome art on the walls. The pizza tasted good. I went to the Firewall Pizza in Travelers Rest. Service was excellent , but the atmosphere was nothing to brag about. The pizza c, about a 12-13 inch one meat pizza that cost me almost $20.00 that is about $8.00 more that I think is worth it for a single item pizza, I do not count the sauce and cheese. I have not gone back to this location nor have I visited the location on Pelham Road. While I can't give the place a 5 star rating it does der serve more than a two. The BEST pizza I've ever had since leaving New York. The dough is flavorful and fluffy. I don't usually eat the crust but I devoured the crust before I ate the rest of the pizza. I have tried their pepperoni, sausage, cheese and peppers. Every single one was 10/10. Their blue cheese sauce is to die for. It doesn't taste like the run of the mill blue cheese funky sauce. Guys, this is one of my favorite pizza joints in Greenville! I absolutely love the pizza here. It is thinner crust than other pizzas but they have great topping choices and are able to get pizzas half and half. The pizzas are quite large too compared to some other pizza places in the area. One thing I love is that you get a discounted pizza for your birthday when you sign up, which is amazing! I absolutely love that they use the good mozzarella and pile on the toppings. I also loooove the mini pepperonis they use. So good. Buffalo chicken one is good. They also have an arugula and prosciutto one as well as an Italian sausage one. Honestly all the pizzas there are great and have never disappointed. I will say that the ranch does taste like tzaziki sauce because of the addition of dill. So if you don't like dill, you have been warned! Their ice cream is made fresh and they switch the flavors often! This one time, I believe it was a white chocolate blackberry or some type of fruity flavor. The ice cream is probably some of the creamiest in the upstate. Their sodas are also craft and pretty delicious too! I love their bread sticks- they're perfectly seasoned and fluffy and come with a nice marinara sauce that's not too thick or thin. Just the right consistency and perfectly pairs with the bread sticks. The main attraction, though, is the baked goat cheese appetizer. I could eat the whole thing by myself it is so good! Everytime we come, we demolish it in less than 5 minutes. The warm, mildly tangy goat cheese has a crushed walnut exterior to give it some extra crunch and texture and is topped with a lovely peppadew pepper spread on top to give it a nice earthy flavor. It's paired with lovely crostini's and arugula drizzled with olive oil, salt and pepper. THE BEST APPETIZER!! Typing this makes me drool and want to get some soon lol.
