Great walk down memory lane. I used to go here all the time 20 yrs ago when I still lived here. This is the place that introduced me to Sriracha. We used Doordash to deliver to our hotel room. The food was well packed, hot and smelled great when it arrived. The cucumber salad sent me back to my youth. Really smooth lentil soup with the right amount of seasoning. Fattoush is a fave spot of a foodie friend and he raves about it all the time. During my visit to Denver he brought me carryout from Fattoush my first night in town and I gobbled it up. It was just chicken and rice with a side of salad, but the flavors were amazing. The place is a small "hole in the wall", I say that lovingly because those are the places you'll often find to have the best food. They don't spend a bunch of money on fancy chairs and tables, they spend time cooking good food and I'll take that any day. One other plus is their hours of operation. Quick, big portions, and soooooo tasty! This past weekend, after we had heard from a friend to try this place out, we decided to give it a shot. We will be going back! We sat out on their patio, which is small, but wasn't crowded and I got the Falafel and Hommoss Combo and my boyfriend ordered the Combination, Super Dish. The food came out so fast, and we were more than satisfied with the taste of the food, and the authenticity of everything on the plate. You can tell these people know what they are doing when it comes to Middle Eastern Cuisine. Although I didn't have any dessert, I am still thinking about going back just for a sweet snack. Their dessert showcase looked amazing, and looked to be made in-house. The only thing that could give people trouble is the parking. Small lot, with maybe 10-15 spots, but even if you park a few blocks away, the food is worth it, and a nice walk after your meal will feel good, because you will be full! read more

I effing love this place. When I was a very poor grad student, I would come here and get the combo "super dish" and eat it for 3 days. It has the following: A combination of Sheesh Kabob , Kifta Kabob , Chicken Kabob , Hommoss , Falafel , Baba Ghanouj , Tabbouleh , Fatouch , Gyros and Grape Leaves. Oh, and don't forget the pita bread. I think the price has gone up a little since 2003, but seeing how that is almost 10 years ago (damn I'm gettin' old) it's still pretty cheap for as much food as you get! I just stopped by again while here for work (and am currently stuffing my face) and it did not disappoint. Everything is as flavorful as I remember. Been here a couple of times, but honestly mostly due to it being one of the few restaurants being open late at night (I think they may be open 24 hours)? However, that being said, I enjoyed the food and even got a free baklava for checking in with Yelp when I was there (how fun!). It is a pretty small place, but the decorations appear to be pretty authentic. It being near DU, you also see lots of college age kids there too. So if it is late at night and you are hungry and want to go eat somewhere, try out this restaurant. I don't think you will be disappointed. read more

I'd be giving Jerusalem another try on the strength of _some_ of their food and their pricing, except that on a small, straightforward order they managed to stiff me one side and deliver the wrong dessert. The items I did receive were a mixed bag: the falafel is very good, and so is the meat, but the sandwiches use dry, almost stale pita and contain almost nothing except the aforementioned falafel or meat. I had been excited to try this place for some time. There were so many options that I had a hard time choosing. I ended up having the vegetarian combination platter. The hummus and baba ganoush were flavorful and fresh. The pita was fluffy and chewy. The rice was a bit hard and didn't really do much for me. The tabouleh and fatoush salad were okay in general. I felt like the French fries were a by incongruous but went well with the hummus. I was sad to only get one stuffed grape leaf with my platter, but the one I did have was quite good. The two falafel balls were pretty decent but had very different textures with one being mushy and one being dry. The spices they used were however quite tasty. Jerusalem was pretty okay if you're in the area, but there are lots of other places that I like better in Denver. read more

Jerusalem was one of the first places I ate in Colorado while at a confrence at DU 15 or so years ago. I absolutely loved it! Coming from a small rural island I had never even heard of falafel before, it was delish. Fast forward to 20' i've lived in CO for 10 years and have tried to love it again and again but it seems subpar compared to even garbanzo. I order the king combo, the meats are bland and falafel is ok but nothing special. I think the hype of it continues to carry on but unfortunately the food doesn't live up to it. Such a Cute little restaurant, dont let the outside appearance fool you. The food is actually amazing and everything is really delicious! I went with a bunch of my friends, the inside seating area was a bit cramped but the food and desserts are what matters! We got lamb shanks and the big combo platter dish. We got rice and pita bread too. It was so good. Also the yogurt drink was salty and reminded me of sour cream, very interesting, but dont get it if youre expecting something sweet. Cannolis and baklava were fresh too! Definitely will bring more friends here next time read more

It started out as just a late night spot after the bars but T really loves this place and the past few years I've started going during 'normal' hours. I remember when it was just the small original space in the front. The patio is a nice add on and much more accessible through its' own door on the side. The beef shawarma has gotten a lot drier and less tasty than it used to be. I used to really like it but now it's just blah. I haven't tried anything else on their menu. It gets 4 stars because of all the great memories I've had here and for the staff being able to deal with the drunk masses until 5 in the morning. read more

I love me some Middle Eastern food. Jerusalem serves solid Middle Eastern fare in generous portions at decent prices. We ordered a couple of combo plates--one with meat, the other without. As is usual at places like this, the stuffed grape leaves were my favorite. Good bread, decent hummus and baba ganoush, tasty kibbeh. The only odd thing was the French fries on the veggie platter. I was confused, then remembered that "fried potatoes" were listed in the menu description. They were fine but probably could have been left off. But after eating the out-of-place fries, I had plenty of food left to finish. We put all the leftovers into one container for a hearty lunch the next day. In a city that apparently has limited Middle Eastern offerings, Jerusalem is indeed A-OK. read more

Soooo good! One of our favorite mid-eastern fooderies in Denver. Near Denver University, the location is an easy drive to - food is well worth the stop. Perfectly balanced garlic and eggplant in the baba ganoush, fresh pita, their meat dishes are lovely with fresh aromatic seasonings. Tasty and authentic. This place always seems to have customers, every time I've driven by. Throw in my craving for some good middle eastern flavors, and that fueled the fire for me to go and check it out. Nothing fancy, but it felt really welcoming and had charming decor. Those good-lookin' pastries didn't hurt my first impression either. My hubs and I got falafel to share, and then I ended up getting the vegetarian platter, which also came with falafel. You can say I was falafel'd out by the time dinner was over. Lucky for me, the platter came with hummus, baba ganoush, some pickled veg, rice, and some potatoes, so I had plenty of other food to eat. The rice was particularly lovely- well cooked, and was aromatic. I'm not a falafel expert by any means, but the exterior had a pretty good crunch and crisp exterior. It was spiced well, but not overly so. My only complaint is that it didn't come with enough tahini sauce. The hummus and baba ganoush were pretty much to die for. Velvety smooth, and yes, so much so that it will make you wonder if you should slather it on yourself. Last, we got some baklava of course! They looked amazing in the dessert case. I thought it was really quite good, but the extra honey they pour onto it to serve made it too sweet for me. I'd prefer to eat my baklava as it is. This is the go-to place for Middle Eastern food in Denver. We've been coming here for about 8 years now and we love it. The atmosphere is nice, makes you feel like you are sitting in some exotic place, but is pretty cramped and always packed. Prices are very good. Service is usually pretty good. We've had to wait a while for our server on a few occassions, but it's always when they are super busy. The food is delicious! The pinnacle of hole in the wall, family run, home-cooked goodness. The shack in which this restaurant runs has ample outdoor seating, which wasn't available during the winter time when I visited. The baked goods sit in a glass case tantalizing you as the smell of Arabic spices wafts from the small takeout window. Middle Eastern music echoes from the kitchen. The seating is padded metal chairs with Formica tables. The ambiance is a bit ramshackle, but the food is spot on. I got the sampling platter, containing rice, bread, tzatziki, babaganoush, hummus, tabbouleh, falafel, shawarma, and lamb. Everything was delicious. The falafel was perfectly crispy and crunchy on the outside; the meat was well-seasoned and perfectly cooked. You could combine flavors and sauces or consume eat individually. To top it all off, the entire meal was about $15. You have to try their food. read more

Awesome food. Lentil soup was fantastic, among the best I've eaten. Kibbeh was delish, as were the falafel balls - the "hush puppies of the Mediterranean". The Missus agrees, says it's top-caliber chow. We're not culinary geniuses, but we do recognize good food. It's a bit spendy, but that may be more due to the location. My youngest also insisted on ordering the "whole" chicken (stuffed Cornish game hen). Needless to say, he has a box for multiple meals now. The Vegetarian Combo is easily my favorite though I've had great experiences with the gyros there are well. Fellow night owls in Denver, you know what's up. There are only a few super late night/24 hour spots to grab a bite in this city, so you have to pick your poison: American diner food or Mediterranean food. We find ourselves eating out past the 2 am hour more than I'd like to admit, so we're basically on a steady rotation between Jerusalem and Pete's Kitchen. Jerusalem is tiny and tucked into the DU campus--you'll almost always see college kids here grabbing a late night dinner between studying (or less responsible things). I've never had to wait to long for a table despite the size of the restaurant, and the servers have always been quick and friendly. The menu is pretty long and has all of the Med/Middle Eastern favorites. I typically order the vegetarian combo with hummus, baba ghanouj, falafel, stuffed grape leaves, fatouch, tabbouleh, fries, and rice. It's super filling, pretty cheap, and the perfect thing to fill you up after a night of drinks and music. The restrooms are a little gross *and* you can only enter them from outside, which is less than ideal in the colder winter months. There's a parking lot, which is convenient! With limited late night options in the Mile High, I sure am glad Jerusalem exists. read more
