Great Gyro for the price. They are not stingy with the meat. I was satisfied with the Gyro. [[HIGHLIGHT]]I came during non peak hours so it was not busy.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] The menu was very easy to read. I will def come back.

This is the perfect post concert spot to grab a bit when you're feeling hungry. [[HIGHLIGHT]]It's located right in between the Fillmore and Ogden so it can get quite busy at night (but so are the other nearby restaurants).[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]Seating is limited and isn't always cleaned after a customer sits there but it's good when you're hungry.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] The food was delicious. The fries with the spice is just tasty on its own without any condiments. The gyro sandwich was very filling and every bite was even and very flavorful. The baklava ice cream was also super rich and creamy. Not overly sweet but just right.

Walking down the street, thought I'd stop in and try the place out. Immediately greeted with 'Welcome to Gyroz!' Guy behind the counter explained all the choices. Food was served piping hot! [[HIGHLIGHT]]I sat inside and enjoyed my meal.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] There's also a drive through that goes pretty quickly! I'll definitely be back!

We weren't expecting much, we were just drunk and hungry, but I was so blown away! The lamb gyro was perfectly tender and well seasoned, with a HUNK of meat for being $7 and some change. It even had a few fries on it, which felt very authentic. The guy running the counter was super patient with us and friendly, despite our obnoxious level of inebriation. He didn't bat an eye when I asked for extra tzaiki. This is definitely a quick service spot with not much in the way of ambiance, but it gets the job done!

This location has been here for a long time. I decided to check it out. I could not believe, the number of years this gem has been in plain view. The prices are moderate and the food is delicious. I have been here several times now, the service and food is consistent. I am not a fan of eating in the car but with the distance I live from here (about 13 mile drive) it's hard not to sneak a fry. The aroma in my car , had me tempted to pull over and people watch. I was sure I could drive this delicious(ness) beside me. The menu is easy to read and covers all of the bases, you are not overwhelmed by combos and specials that the process becomes to complex. Definitely, worth checking out

I had an amazing dining experience at Safta!…read more The wine list is well curated, both thw BTG and bottle list was impressive. We chose an Areni wine, the Yacobian Hobbs. I was excited to try after watching a documentary on the Somm channel about that specific winemaker. The wine was delicious. I was so happy to see small boutique wine from the Santa Barbara area like Amevive and A Tribute to Grace. Our server Yvonne guided our menu choices thoughtfully and enhanced our experience with excellent service. We started with watermelon feta salad with baby cilantro, walnuts, and harissa oil. The watermelon was cool, sweet, and crisp and the flavors balanced perfectly. If you are a pickle lover you must get the pickles. I think i will be dreaming of them. The pickled cabbage, okra, califlower and snap peas were just the best! The pitas were puffy but not hollow and warm. There was also an olive oil dipping sauce that complemented everything. Star of the show for me was the forgaged mushrooms and hummus. These were the most delicious mushrooms and snoothest hummus I have ever experienced, and i think there might be magicians in the kitchen. Our other dishes were cabbage and eggplant. Both taste explosions, done masterfully with a sauce, color and texture. This food is truly incredible, highly recommend. I am in Denver for work, anytime I travel back to Denver I will for sure return to Safta.

Great food, but the policies left a bad taste at the end…read more We came for brunch as a group of four and genuinely loved the food. Everything was flavorful and well prepared, the cocktails were excellent, and the atmosphere was great for catching up and having a conversation. From a food standpoint, Safta absolutely delivered. Unfortunately, the experience went downhill when the bill arrived. Our $282 subtotal included a mandatory 5% "Employee Benefits Charge" ($14.10), which the receipt specifically states is not gratuity and is used to support employee wages, benefits and paid leave. I would much rather restaurants simply price their menu to reflect the cost of compensating their employees than add another mandatory fee to the bill while guests are still expected to tip. More frustrating was the restaurant's unwillingness to split our check appropriately. There were four of us, only three drank alcohol, and we were told they would only split the bill in half. Of course four adults can do the math ourselves--and we did--but with modern POS systems, this feels like an unnecessarily customer-unfriendly policy, especially at this price point. Parking was another $16 with no validation, bringing the cost of the experience up even further. Finally, brunch is $50 per person and served buffet-style. The food was excellent, but I personally don't enjoy all-you-can-eat dining. I'd much rather order a fantastic entrée and perhaps share a couple of things and take home what we didn't finish. Bottom line: Excellent food, cocktails and atmosphere, but between the $50 buffet, 5% employee benefits fee, restrictive check-splitting policy and $16 unvalidated parking, the overall experience didn't match the hospitality I expect at this price point. We really enjoyed the meal, but unfortunately these policies are enough that we wouldn't return.

Many more had shown up here before we left, however. As it was happy hour, we tried three different appetizers: falafel with hummus, dolmas, and harissa carrots. All were delicious and ended up being rather filling. My wife and I both had the lamb gyros, while my daughter had the chicken shawarma. While the dishes didn't appear to be a huge amount of food, they ended up being plenty. Everything had really nice flavor. As it was my wife's birthday, she got the free baklava for dessert. My daughter and I both thought it was fantastic...maybe one of the better baklavas we've had in a long time. My wife thought it was fine but has had other versions she'd liked better. Service was quick and strong from the start. All food came out surprisingly fast. We'd come here again if on/near Tennyson Street and in the mood for a good Mediterranean experience.

The only reason this isn't 5 stars is because the price differential between these two items is about $5 and instead of itemizing our receipts, our waiter just split it in two, overcharging my friend and undercharging me. It seemed very incongruent to the rest of our otherwise excellent experience here.

I won't say which, but boy, was it a letdown. The falafel were like little hockey pucks and the pita were like cardboard, flat and stale-tasting. I didn't think you could screw up pita. Only the hummus was passable. All this to say that I have been SPOILED by moving within walking distance of the Byblos in Alamo Placita, which is where a little taco place used to be. It's in a sweet little spot with patio seating on the corner of 4th and Corona, but the draw is really the food. I can't vouch for the meat dishes as a vegan, but WOW is their pita soft, fresh and flavorful, and they replenish it readily. Their hummus is excellent, their baba ghanoush is the best I've had since leaving the greater Boston area (with its abundance of outstanding ethnic restaurants) and the eggplant moussaka is fantastic. Plus they put this fully vegan cream dressing on the garden salad that is out of this world. Byblos has completely ruined me for a lot of other restaurants. As I'm writing this I think I've talked myself into going there for lunch!
