I mentioned it, I was given several slices of bacon on a parchment type paper. Several weeks ago I visited the Jersey Mike's at 22nd and Harrison. Ordered the club there as well. This was our first visit to a Jersey Mike's and frankly I can't tell their subs apart from any of the other sub places on the eastside. We frequently make our own subs and they are about the same. Tasty but not great. The service was fine and friendly even though our requested oil on the side was left out of our bag. We are probably spoiled after living on the east coast for a number of years. Roma's is the only location in Tucson we have found that is unique. read more

I attribute it being a "well oiled machine" , so to speak not only to the employees but the MANAGER ANNA.... I was having a problem placing a delivery order... I spoke with ANNA she handled it 123.... No problems at all. So pleasant in every way. She is living proof not all Superheroes wear a cape! There should be more Managers like Anna. I think she is more than qualified to be the General Manager....the powers that be... what are you waiting for? Good sandwiches, louse location. The bread is fresh. They slice up your meats right then and there. I had the Italian sandwich #13. Tasted great. The ham is really good ham. I enjoyed the sandwich and it hit the spot. The service was very friendly. The downside is their location. It is a bit awkward to get into if you are going southbound on Grant. And also can be a bit tough to turn back southbound from the parking lot. The parking is a bit awkward, too, as there are no spaces in front of any of the businesses here due to the shape of the lot, which is rectangular next to the river. But it isn't a big deal. You will just have to walk to the door. The closes spots are about 10 to 15 yards, so no biggie. 5* = A top favorite. Mind-blowing good. I will definitely return and I will go out of my way to go here. Worth every dime of my money. 4* = Outstanding. Tucson-top-tier. Some elements not quite as good as it gets, but it still is worthy of my regular business. 3* = Good experience. I might do repeat business if it is convenient, the only option, the only one in its category, or on a whim, but would not be among the first thing to come to mind. Flavor and freshness is good but holy cow, you better like a lot of lettuce on your sandwich if you let them do it "Mike's Way" which is with lettuce, tomato, onion, oil & vinegar and salt & pepper. I must be going on good days every time because even when the place is packed everyone is friendly and working as quickly as possible to get me out, all while smiling and being incredibly personable. The meat being cut right in front of me is something I've been missing in a sub place for a long time. The bread is never hard, the veggies always look and taste really fresh, and honestly the last time I was in a staff member remembered me from months before when I was in. It was nice to have that personal touch. This place is luckily right down the street from where I work so I will definitely be back. I'm from Jersey, but had never been to Jersey Mike's until they opened here in Tucson. I have to say, I'm really glad they're here now! This is the best sub shop chain in town, without a doubt! The bread is really good here. It's got a bit of chew to it, but it's still soft and flavorful. It holds up really well the the ridiculous amounts of oil and vinegar they put on every single sandwich. And while we're talking about oil and vinegar...YAY that a sub shop has it! It's no surprise that an east coast chain would, because a sub is not a sub with out O&V! I've been missing that here in Tucson. Italian dressing ISN'T THE SAME!!! The meats and cheeses are sliced fresh to order, and while they're not Boars Head quality, they are definitely leagues above the plastic-like material that Subway tries to call food. They also don't skimp on their sandwiches at all. You get a really big and filling sandwich at Jersey Mike's! I like to get the roast beef and turkey club without bacon (I'm not a bacon fan, please don't hurt me dear bacon-lovers of Yelp). It's just a tasty sub. It can get messy with the O&V, mayo, and huge pile of lettuce they put on their subs, but it's a satisfying sandwich! I also love their wraps. You can get a regular wrap that's kinda healthier, or you can make any of their sandwiches into a wrap. I like to get the turkey with honey mustard wrap when I'm trying to be good. The turkey has a good flavor and the honey mustard is a pretty good one, so it tastes awesome. Their tortillas are always really soft but a little chewy, just like they should be! Yum! My only complaint is that some employees don't know how to wrap them up well, and they can get a little messy. Not a huge deal. I really like the employees at this location a lot. They're always so friendly to us. I hate to say anything contrary, but I'm about being fair and 100% honest, so I must say that while I like them a ton, I wish the tables in the restaurant were cleaned more often. I've walked in while the restaurant was totally empty, yet every table was dirty. I don't want to eat in someone else's food. I am happy to say it was just as delicious as the commercial made it out to be. I had the regular size with mayo and it was a hefty, hardy sandwich with great flavor! While I really like the sandwiches at Jersey Mike's, they have the same problem subway has. They focus on making the sandwiches but don't stay on top of wiping down tables. I cleaned the table I'm sitting at and got rid of the crumbs but couldn't get rid of what ever else was on it. Yet out of all the tables not occupied it was the cleanest, while 5 employees are solely focused on filling orders. I shouldn't have to ask them to do their jobs and clean the tables. read more

i'd seen the commercial on tv where you watch them make your sub, so I decided to go there today to try it out. Immediately after I walked in, a young man (about college age) saw me and walked over to the register. I didn't think nothing of it; I just stood in line at the counter to order my sandwich. The guy stood at the register watching while I ordered. He asked the young, lady before she started making my sandwich what did I order, and started ringing me up before the sandwich was made. This is not the custom for 'Subway' type shops. Usually you watch them make your sandwich, tell them what you want on it, before they bring it up to the register where they ask if you want to add drinks and chips. No, this kid had me up at the register, and demanded that I paid before the lady even started making it. It felt strange. I protested by saying that I wanted to watch her make my sandwich like everyone els, but he insisted that I paid first. She stood watching him and didn't start making my sandwich until I had paid. I asked him if Jersey Mike's did this with all their customers, he had a smug smile on his face and disn't answer my question. Now I'm a 68 year old disabled veteran. I always wear my Army unit cap when I go out because I'm constantly being be profiled since I moved here to Tucson over a decade ago. Even though they make a great turkey and provolone, I will not be returning to that store again. I did not feel welcomed. I gave it three stars for the food, and zero for the service. Can you blame me. As a veteran I feel that I've earned the right to be treated because of the "content of my character," not the color of my skin. I feel sorry for those youngsters. read more

Online ordered my sandwich. Normally, not a bad experience. Today however the food was something I completely didn't order. Took the food home to discover this. Called the location was rudely put on hold for a manager. Someone had their small child there who picked up the phone and was playing with it. Then I heard someone ask what they were doing and hang up the phone. Called right back describing my previous call, rudely put back on hold for the manager again. Told her my situation. She seemed unfazed and not at all sympathetic to the issue. Horrible treatment to their customers. Small kids in the workplace I'm sure shouldn't be happening either. read more
