The espresso is extremely burnt. Two 12oz iced lattes were completely priced out, you can go to any other coffee shop and pay less for 16/20oz cups. Ordered two different lattes and both had burnt espresso. Service was absolutely awful, the girl at the counter was too busy cutting a loose thread on her shirt to acknowledge us talking and even when I asked about a speciality coffee, she still did not look up once to talk to me. I have been going to Jersey Java since they were first opened. Great place, always pleasant and professional staff. The outside area is always a nice hang out spot, as well. I have enjoyed living walking distance from here, so when even after a snow storm they have been opened and it was somewhere nearby I could venture to, in order to get out of the house. I've tried this place 3 times now trying to give them the benefit of the doubt. Each time I'm sorely disappointed. Plus, the owner recently participated in a RACIST, HOMOPHOBIC stunt in town (more on that below). A few takeaways: - Getting inside with a stroller or wheelchair is hard. Their "ramp" is makeshift and REALLY inclined--not safe at all. And try opening their door while perching your baby's stroller on that ramp or being wheelchair-bound. It's nearly impossible. - Baristas are cold at best and rude at worst. No smiles or genuine friendliness. Everyone seems unhappy. - Lattes only come in one size, and a tiny size at that. For the price you pay it's not worth it. - I ordered an iced latte one day and was the only customer inside. I asked for a straw (because they don't have lids you can drink from) and the barista rudely pointed to a counter instead of maybe handing me a straw. She then went back to playing on her phone. - The owner is known for being rude. Scroll on Yelp to see how unprofessional she is when customers raise valid complaints. More shocking (but not really), the owner is responsible for the recent RACIST and HOMOPHOBIC lies she put in misleading flyers and distributed to the local schools. Read the phony document and the school's response to see the blatant, conservative misrepresentations. That alone means me and my wide circle of friends won't patronize this shop. It's a shame this isn't more well known because I see people patronizing this shop who I know would be appalled to know their money is supporting someone with those backwards values. read more

I love this place so much. The aesthetic is amazing. It's part novelty store, part wine seller, part coffee house. I got a classic latte there and it was pretty much what you expected. There's plenty of indoor and outdoor seating, so you can meet up with a friend for any occasion - whether it is midday coffee, or afternoon glass of wine. It also has an attached store that sells novelty products like soaps and cocktail bitters. I just loved the ambiance of this place and will be back to get some work done and spend time here. read more

Came by on a weekend to check out this coffee shop, which will be conveniently located just a few minute's walk from my new home in a few months. It's adorable! During winter, the place was warm and cozy with lots of seating, music was quiet and not too loud, they had a mix of both caffeinated and regular drinks as well as some foods. For 2 drinks and a slice of cake, it was about $10 or so. My sister hated her coffee and barely touched it. It definitely had a unique flavor to it - something lavenderish? I don't know, it was something different. I wonder had she returned it if they would have substituted something else. My hot chocolate was fine. The layout is very comfy and I could see myself plopping down here with a NY Times newspaper and a big old hot chocolate to while away a winter's lazy Sunday morning. read more

Came here yesterday with a friend to intentionally shop locally. Ordered 2 coffees and 2 quiches. Coffee was ok..potato and sausage quiche was very good. Took about 2 bites until my fork met the strand of blonde hair baked right into the quiche. So super disappointed. Although a refund was issued, still won't be returning or recommending. But will recommend that staff wear hair nets. As pictured in some of the pics, staff has long hair but being only pulled back isn't a viable solution. I love this place! I wish I lived closer to it so I could visit all the time. They are a little bit expensive, but I've never had a bad drink or meal there. The pastries are all delicious and I love their specialty drinks. This time of year the Fireside and the Sugar Plum Fairy are incredible. It's a cozy little cafe and I love how they decorate for the seasons. Everyone is always very friendly and helpful and they give great recommendations when I can't decide what I want. Y'all, I wanna like this place. It's the only coffee shop within miles of my house. They call themselves a specialty coffee shop, but with so much real attention to detail in the coffee industry right now, how are they getting away with this? First off, the baristas are nice, the space is nice. Beyond that, it's a time warp to the early 2000's "Friends" style coffee shop. They try to offer so many options food and drink wise that there's just not enough attention paid to the coffee itself. Had a cup this morning that tasted like it came from a gas station midnight snack bar. To me, it tastes like the beans were roasted 6 months ago, the brewing pots and equipment haven't been *deep* cleaned in years (?), and the brewing ratio is a little off...besides tasting old and dirty it was a little watery. I know this is a harsh review! And this place does meet the *minimum* requirements to call itself a "coffee shop," but how can they call it specialty with all the competition out there? Sourcing the right beans, if they're just gonna sit on the shelf for months before brewing through stained equipment, isn't enough. For those traveling, skip this spot and head into Philly for one of many shops and roasters who will blow your mind with the new industry standard in coffee. Locals have no other choice. This place has grown on me over the years. I find myself going here more and more, despite the (fantastic) proliferation of coffee places in the northern Camden County area. It's just a solid place to come back to again and again, and hopefully this'll give you some insight into why. Let's start with the seating. It's got a lot of different areas to hang out; aside from two large seating areas on either side of the counter, there's an awesome courtyard right on the corner of Haddon and Redman Avenues and plenty of sidewalk seating out front for the warmer months. Not enough places in the suburbs have outside areas for hanging out, so these spots for people - and puppy - watching is much appreciated. Their coffee's always been pretty good, and I think they keep switching up what beans they get. From what I can remember, I've seen Rival Brothers, Square One. They do pour overs, which I love, and they've got some more exotic things sometimes, like the Gibraltar (a variation on a cortado) and the "Americola", a fascinating mix of Mexican coke and a shot of espresso. To eat, there've got a variety of pastries like muffins and homemade pop tarts and quiches. Also, it's worth noting that this is one of the only coffee places open on a late Sunday afternoon/early evening worth going. There're a lot of coffee places around here, but they all seem to close between 1 and 3PM. For years now, Jersey Java's open open til 6PM on Sundays, which I really appreciate. I don't know if the other places think people just hide out at home on Sunday afternoons or what, but it's great this place stays open. read more

This place is my SPOT. I love studying here and the coffee in on point. They have outdoor seating which has been so essential for mixing up my studying lately- the only problem is they don't have outlets out there- but there is rarely a problem getting a seat inside to study. There are plenty of windows so it's a very bright study spot and it's pretty open so you don't feel like you're sitting right on top of other people. They have a mix of tables, comfy armchair- type spots with tables, and a counter. So whatever your study style is, you can find a spot here. The baristas really know their stuff when it comes to coffee and I'm really picky so I appreciate their recommendations. They also have some very cool iced teas- most recently I got one with chestnut and grapefruit. And I can't forget! They have this AMAZING new affogato that I am obsessed with and probably would bathe in. So there's that. There are also a bunch of pastries and quiches for sale but my gluten free and nut free self doesn't have any options. Luckily it's a short walk from a bunch of gluten free spots in Haddonfield so it's never too much of a big deal. But Jersey Java, if you're reading this, a couple of gluten free snacks would push this review from a 4 star to a 5 star and you would have a VERY grateful and loyal customer on your hands read more

This place frustrates me so much. The place itself is the best looking and comfy place in the area (both inside and out). The employees have always been super nice. I really enjoy the pastries but I just do not like their coffee. The coffee just seems really bland no matter what kind I get. I am not a stickler for one certain coffee at all times since I've recently rotated between preferring Revolution coffee to La Colombe to Crescent Moon so I'm always up for something new. When we do decide to drop in and sit outside during the summer we will usually stick to a tea and pastry since they seem to be consistently good. I'm certainly glad it always seems packed and have a loyal following but sadly I can't be one of them. read more

When you first step foot into the shop, you are greeted by a super friendly barista. He is kind and caring and willing to help you choose your order. I got an americano and a pie to eat. The coffee is not La Colombe - the local award winning roaster that produces terrific coffee. Instead it's PT's coffee from Kansas. Right I heard that. When asked the snarky 20 something hipster wannabe counter chick treated me to a look of scorn and derision and muttered "it's an award winning roast". I just went here for the first time about an hour ago. I heard good things from friends, so I thought I'd check it out. The parking situation is on the street. Luckily I went while dark and not busy, so no dreaded parallel parking was necessary. The set up is: when you first walk in, the counter is in front of you. To the left, seating is mostly with tables and bar style. The right is more comfy with couches. The atmosphere is definitely five stars. Not too bright or dark lighting. Fun but not harsh colors. Comfy seating. Fireplace. Pretty chandelier. Very contemporary and trendy. If you think starbucks is too expensive, this place is not for you! It's even pricer. My total was $10.40 for a slice of spinach quiche and a medium chai latte. At least starbucks would be under ten dollars. The food - there is an assortment of quiches: spinach, Lorraine (with bacon), red pepper, and breakfast. I got the spinach. It was okay, not worth the price. The egg and spinach layers were completely separated! A quiche is supposed to be cohesive. They also had assorted baked goods - bagels, biscuits, muffins, Danishes, and cake (peanut butter pound cake was there this night). My friend got a cheese Danish that should have been called a lemon Danish - super lemony taste, which she doesn't like, so it was a waste. The cheese was very hard as well, not soft like your typical Danish filling. I'm a chai snob and connoisseur, (lol). I ordered a medium chai latte and found it was super thin and pretty bland. By comparison of nearby coffee shops, starbucks in haddonfield and the tree house cafe in Audubon do theirs sooooo much better. My friend got the hot chocolate and said it was okay. They put lots of whipped cream on top, so that was a plus. I saw the menu and they seem to offer a lot of teas and some different coffees. I think I will go back and try the tea instead, no food. They have wifi and accept credit cards. I appreciate the compostable and recycled drink containers! Overall, I'd say this is a comfortable study spot to hang out and get a cup of tea. Very cool atmosphere but lacking in the sustenance department. Almost gave them another overall star for atmosphere, but the food memory and prices justify the two star rating. read more

Getting there can be a problem, especially weekday mornings or weekday lunchtime. Parking is limited, especially if you just want to get your coffee and go. I can see where Jersey Java would be popular with locals, who can walk there. Layout is a little awkward with register being so close to the door. Service was friendly but not overly so. There's a "$10 minimum" for credit charges posted on the register. I had cash, so no big deal. The old lady in front of me wanted the low down on the baked goods and the server said he makes them fresh every day. Looked good: macaroons, cookies, tea biscuits, quiche. I was just there for skim latte with sugar-free syrup. Tasty but not amazing. There are really two kinds of coffee moods: (1) I'm tired.
