If you do not have clotted cream simply don't serve clotted cream. Don't give me a ramekin of whipped cream and tell me it's clotted cream like I'm stupid There are plenty of etiquette rules and standards to attending an afternoon tea service but there are as many to serving one. Management and ownership have never attended a tea service or researched how to host one Each table is limited to two selections and two pots of tea. Don't agree? Oh well. Refills? Extra charge. But wait you actually receive three pots of tea because upon seating a pot of the "seasonal" herbal tea is served whether you like it or not.m Additionally serving milk with black tea selections is apparently not standard practice here and needs to be specifically requested. The Earl Grey tea is excellent First course: salad. Hopefully no one in your party has severe nut allergies because before even taking tea selections a plate of spring mix buried under a pile of walnuts is dropped in front of you. Those in our party able to eat the salad did not enjoy it Second course: savouries. Finger sandwiches were fresh. Chicken salad was excellent. Egg salad on croissant was good I personally disagree with quiche being served as it's non-traditional but it is accepted in many circles and the quiche was also good However I have absolutely no doubt that the chicken salad and egg salad were scooped out of premade tubs from Sysco or Restaurant Depot judging by the sweets Scones: underbaked. Disappointing given reviews raving about them. Maybe we received a bad batch maybe the local population has never had a decent scone. Will not be returning to find out Presumably since the savoury scone (an abomination in my opinion) was served in the same course as a sweet scone the only butter served was a savoury herb butter. As a result there was no butter available for the "butterscotch" scone and there would not have been enough anyway considering we received about a tablespoon of butter and two tablespoons of both other toppings between five people The "clotted cream" has been addressed as it was the most offensive part of enduring this experience. Rather than a traditional jam or marmalade none of which we were served we were given a "mango compote." How someone decided mango and butterscotch are complementary I have no idea. Anyone in this industry would recognize Reàl purée squeezed out of a plastic bottle Sweets: thaw and serve La Boulangerie des Gourmets frozen macarons (which include a pistachio flavor and are packaged in one tray so again watch for nut allergies if you think you're safe eating a lemon macaron as this obviously isn't disclosed). I see these are being sold separately outside of the tea service 6/$14. They are 57¢ ea Chocolate mousse mix piped into a plastic cup with a processed whipped topping. The most edible dessert Menu lists lemon cheesecake server identified small tarts as key lime pie. Not sure which we received but can note the filling at least (probably not the tart shell) is made in house because we received more than one batch with one having not even a hint of citrus Saving the worst for last the "strawberry" cupcake. First and foremost cupcakes chocolate mousse and macarons (and most egregious cannolis listed on the children's menu) are not standard sweets served with afternoon tea. But this cupcake? The cupcakes we were served here were the driest cake I have ever seen in my life completely inedible. The frosting was some sort of processed palm oil goo and neither cake nor frosting had any strawberry flavor Atmosphere and service: service was friendly albeit casual slow and not attentive. Server was not very knowledgeable. Not her fault Space was fine if gaudy. Table was crowded. I share another reviewer's sentiment but the table cloth was about a foot longer than the table was high which made sitting movement or pushing a chair in difficult. It felt like wearing a heavy blanket that was pulled taut the entire experience Paper napkins and plastic dishes. At over $40 per person you would expect more As a side note standard afternoon tea practice is being offered or asking for additional items the guests like. However the menu had prices listed for additional sides of all items served on the tea service. Given the quality vs cost this felt particularly gauche It's hard to comprehend why the owners or management here can't get the tea service right. The hardest part is finger sandwiches and freshness which they seem to have managed. Good quality premade desserts are available and scones are not difficult to make. It honestly seems like a lack of effort on their part or a lack of respect for their customers which is frustrating All in all a very expensive abysmal experience. I'm sure there are decent afternoon teas available in this area at a similar price. Jane's is adorable. It's a large space where walk inside are welcome and you can also just stop in for a cup of tea. I'd probably all it a tea shop rather than a tea room. For me tea room evokes a certain air of elegance, quiet and privacy. This was not quite that. It's a beautifully decorated space, there is a photo booth room with props (the photo booth has a crazy lag though). Plenty of seating is available. My friend and I booked the Holiday Tea and it was holiday themed food but not really much holiday decor. The courses were delicious for the most part, however, I feel like the chicken salad lacked flavor and the pumpkin pie tart barely had any pumpkin. The tea flavors were exquisite. I very much enjoyed the themed tea and the cream Earl Grey. Service was a little slow and we were kind of left for a while. We had to ask for to go boxes and "what next?" My friend hosted her baby shower here. The location is very cute and on the corner near some other local shops. There is a small parking lot across the street, as well as street parking or other back lots behind other shops. The day of the baby shower, there unfortunately was a festival which required the entire street to be shut down. Thankfully I received a ride to the teahouse from my husband, but parking was a little difficult for patrons who arrived after me. The inside of the restaurant is super cute, and they have three different rooms. Her party was separated into two rooms, and in the middle room is where the favors, cake, and gifts were stored. The china was beautiful and perfectly matched each set. Our waitress was really friendly and helpful when we were asking for recommendations on teas to choose from. We were given a house blend tea, and able to choose from two other tea flavors for the table. We ended up picking the Apple Spice and Lorie Valley Peach. My favorite out of those two were the Lorie Valley Peach. Apple Spice was good, but felt heavier (like Christmas). We then had a tray filled with tea sandwiches, scones, and desserts. The chocolate chip scone was absolutely delicious! I wish I could have eaten it all, but we were so full! When it was time for our friend to open gifts, since everyone was spread out, we all had to stand up from where we were seated and walk into the next room (with everyone standing around). It got a little crowded, but it was still nice. We also appreciated that the restaurant allowed champagne and juice to be brought in, so we had "Mom-osas"! The bathroom is cute and is one person only. They also have a small alcove with a photobooth (including props) which is super cute! You are even able to send the pictures to your phone. Was a guest at a baby shower here and it was delightful. Even as a non tea drinker I enjoyed the intimate, bright space while we showered the mom to be. There are two rooms, one larger (30 guests) the other smaller (15 guests). The only negative was there is one bathroom located in the larger party space so we ended up feeling like we were infringing on the other party to get to the bathroom. Other than that it's a nice space with a lot of decor potential. We had a choice of 3 teas for the table. We leaned towards fruit forward teas and they were delicious! Everyone also chose a scone of their choice. Do yourself a favor and choose the savory garlic, herb scone, it was perfection. The tea sandwiches were good but not great. The dessert was very surprising! Everything was so yummy and the perfect contrast to the sandwiches with the tea. The chocolate mousse was a favorite, the whipped cream is YUMMMM. I ordered a bistro box according to the specifications directly from the website and did not receive what I paid for. I tried a bite of what looked like cut up strawberries and feta on hard bread, and it was awful. Then when we called to let them know, we were simply told, "Sorry, the bistro box is seasonal, and those things you asked for shouldn't be there available to order." (And yet, they are.) Feels like bait and switch to me, which is very irritating. It wouldn't have been the biggest deal in the world, if the food that I received were not things that I don't love, and the scone, which has been very good in the past, is cold and hard, as opposed to being recently baked. I had received a gift card to Jane's last year for Christmas and wanted to try it. I was very frustrated when I arrived as parking is very minimal, the city is tearing up the streets and the police had two spaces blocked out front. I actually called from the car, but the staff at Jane's weren't much help. I was also surprised when walking in that there was a lunch card coffee from Dunkin sitting on the counter, clearly one of the staff members. We had the High Tea. The sandwiches were good, but very small and the sweets were so sweet that could not be eaten. The decor was done poorly, and not attractive at all. You get a salad, it has blue cheese crumbles with a raspberry vinaigrette dressing. Then they bring out the food tower. It had savory and sweet scones with clotted cream, herb butter and mango chutney . The sandwitches were small two bite sandwiches, and they were just okay. PRO TIP: Do not come hungry, do not come expecting a full meal. You are basically paying for an "experience." A pricey choice for our book club - 9 of us, and with tip, we each shelled out $43. Don't bother walking in - you need a reservation, especially on weekends. I get it, you're paying for the experience of a tea house, but I guess it just wasn't my cup of tea. Don't come hungry - the miniscule tea sandwiches are not going to fill you up unless you eat like a bird. The tea that was served to us automatically was reminiscent of English breakfast tea - you'd think for a tea house, we'd get something a little more exotic. It was LOUD in there - good for them, they had a full house, but we could hardly hear each other. Bummer - It took forever to be served, and then we had to be told to leave because they had a reservation coming in 10 minutes and they needed our tables. Compared to other tea houses serving afternoon tea the price is slightly higher but not significant just enough to mention. One suggestion to help customers tea to remain hot provide some type of heating element; a teapot warmer base with a tea light candle, wrap the pot in a 'cozy' or offer more hot water. I recently attended a Sunday afternoon tea at Jane's Tea House with my Mother, Sisters and Daughter. We absolutely loved it. We easily made a reservation online as seating is currently limited with state Covid restrictions. We did the afternoon tea menu, which was a set price and included unlimited hot tea in the flavor of your choice, a tea cookie, a sandwich platter (pre-selected), a scone of your choice (sweet or savory available) and a dessert platter (also pre-selected). All of the food was delicious. I opted for the bacon scone and ordered the chocolate chip scone for my daughter - both were served warm and tasted amazing. I'd go back for the scones alone! I also loved the chicken salad, and of course the desserts. The staff was amazing. Our waitress in particular was excellent. She was attentive, friendly and totally accommodating of my toddler. New business alert & 5 star on many levels. For one, this is a tea house that really makes a teatime delicious and makes for enjoyment with special company. The scone I chose was Parmesan Rosemary. It was flakey, soft and I really enjoyed it the most. My tea sandwiches were pre-selected and each petite small bite was enjoyable. The dessert plate was rich and because I was full I took it to go. The full teapot of Vanilla Chai that I chose was a delight. Our service was good from our waiter and one of the co-owners came to each table to hear about of experiences. My teen daughter and I enjoyed a wonderful lunch here today. We were welcomed as soon as we entered this gorgeous restaurant and were directed to our reserved table. We sat down to our beautifully set table where 2 menus were waiting for us. The selection of teas are impressive. Our server, Emma, was friendly and genuine. We placed our orders and within minutes, our delicious tea was served. We had plenty of time to sip on our tea before our tea sandwiches and desserts came out on a 2-tiered serving platter. Best scones I have ever eaten AND..... I have been there about 10 times. I've resisted writing this review because they are a small business and the scones are great....if and when I can get them. Of the 10 visits, I've only walked away with scones 1/2 the time. Many times I'm told that they don't have any for take out, only for the tea parties coming in. I have also showed up 2 time to find out they are not open and/or serving without their posted hours of operation. Like this morning I went at 10:15am to get scones to go, on the window it clearly says to go counter is open at 10am but the guy there rudely would not help me. For the most part service has been rude or just off, not welcoming or approachable. The 50% of the time I have gotten scones, it is a minimum 15 min wait. I have asked "do you have scones baked and ready for take out" with a yes answer to again wait 15 mins to get them. I even say "don't heat them up" I only keep going back to my own frustration because they are so good. My husband even jokes, "Will the scone gods be in your favor today" as I never know when I will score or walk away empty handed. read more

When we arrived they didn't have our reservation on their list--claiming that they probably printed the list before we booked. We booked on their website almost exactly 24 hours in advance. Not sure why they were still taking reservations if they weren't going to look at them. Since we weren't on their list-- they asked if it was okay to be seated outside. It was chilly, but we didn't have a choice. I at least thought they would put a nice material table cloth on the table, like inside. But no. Plastic with stains on it. We ended up walking back to the car to get jackets and a blanket since it was cold. Inside they were making rose napkins at the counter which were at the pretty table settings inside. Outside, we had to ask for napkins since we weren't given any-- and then she just threw a few on the table. No pretty rose napkins for us. And no plates-- so we used the tea cup saucers. The food was good-- but portions small. I expected a little more for the price. The cookie was actually sad. Almost paper thin. The tea was good-- but got cold quite quickly outside. Overall, I feel like we were treated like 2nd class citizens outside and we didn't get the full experience at all-- even though we paid the same amount. When we went inside to pay-- we saw a little photo booth. We thought were ending our lunch on a high note posing for a few cute pics--- but the link that was sent to me to see the photos doesn't work! Lovely. Equally annoying-- then you pay inside-- they get your waitress to check you out, who stands there while you add the tip to the chip reader-- and your options start at 20% and go up from there. Huh? This was my second time going to Jane's Tea house and we had a party of six. We chose Jane's based on my recommendation from my first visit. This time, it was not a five star experience. Firstly, they sit my friend at the wrong table, in the other room so she was waiting by herself, while I was seated at the correct table. Part of our party was late, so I will disclose that but we were all seated within 15 minutes of our reserved time. When the waters were delivered, there were shards of glass on my friend's water glass. She pointed out to the waitress and it took at least 20 minutes to get the new water. The first tea my friend ordered was not available. They were 'out' which was surprising since we were the first seating of the day. Secondly, a friend asked about the soup of the day, the waitress didn't know so she said she would find out and never told us what the soup was. My tea was fantastic, I got the Mango Mist again, but a few of my friends said their tea was cold. Food took a long time to come out, but that may have been a back up in the kitchen. The finger sandwiches and scones were delicious! Our desserts weren't coming out until after our reservation was over, so I asked for them to go and our waitress boxed them up for us who needed to head out. I'm not sure if the waitress we had today was new, but if so, they should not have had her serving a large party of six adults and one baby. Another complaint was the bridal shower happening in front of the one restroom. They were opening gifts and no one wanted to use the restroom at that time, so I would recommend the tea house have events in the front room, rather than the back room in front of the only bathroom. I would go back again, but I'm not sure any of my friends would after this 'okay' experience. read more
