I should've taken pictures but I really enjoyed the food. I had the oxtail tacos and jerk mac n cheese. There were a few small bones in the tacos but the flavors were very good and they had tons of meat in them. Also tried the jerk wings and oxtail nachos. The wings were so good and had a nice kick to them. They gave us complementary rum punch samples because it was our first visit, it was very good and I got a tiny buzz off the sample so that tells you how strong it was. I loved the vibe, the music was bumping and the service was great. It got loud and everyone danced when they sang happy birthday to everyone. It was a good time. Came here twice in the last month and a 1/2.. First time was for a walk thru for an upcoming event and second was for the actual event. Jerk at Nite could be hard to miss if walking downtown because the door is on the side, not at the main entrance but you smell the aroma of Caribbean cuisine a few feet away. The 1st time I came, our waitress was Maya and 2nd visit was Keke. They both provided great service. The manager Shon was cool, friendly, attentive and provided exceptional service. It became so busy on this beautiful 70 degree Saturday in Baltimore, he continuously checked on all tables even bringing out dishes and drinks himself. We ordered a variety of things both visits so I'll let the pics speak for themselves. All were excellent. My friends and I cleaned up our plates or took food to go because it was plentiful. Jerk at Nite will definitely see me again! It was a group of 6 of us and we didn't have a reservation. The host and the manager worked so diligently to find us a table. We were with a birthday girl who partied too hard at her day party so we were trying our best to get her some food. The bartenders were so helpful to get her some water and offer her some coco bread while we were waiting at the bar for the table. We waited no longer than 30 mins for a table to free up. Service from our waitress, Maya was great. The food was so good. I had the curry chicken which came with two sides (I chose rice and peas and plantain). FAMILY REVIEW: (3.5 stars if half points are considered) Took my littles (ages 4 and 6) for a night out to eat as a way to end the Winter break. The food was flavorful, the ambience was on point, and the service was genuinely stellar--attentive without hovering, which is always a win (shout-out to Kaya, or Caya, ??) Now... the oxtails. Flavor? Great. Portion? Tiny as hell. Blink-and-you-miss-it tiny, which was a little wild given the expectation that comes with ordering oxtail and especially as $39 dollar plate. The rice and peas was abundant and the plantains were delicious. Also worth noting: the menu goes all-in on jerk (respect), but there were very limited alternatives for anyone not in the mood for full heat. Adjustable spice levels--or a kid-friendly option--would make this spot much more approachable for families. Overall, strong execution where it counts, but a few tweaks on portion size and heat flexibility would push this into must-return territory. Literally the BEST Jamaican restaurant in the state of Maryland. I know because I'm tried them all and this is as close as you can get to the real thing. I've been here a handful of times, and I never leave disappointed. In fact I purposely stay away because they can easily become an addiction. Fitst, I needed to alter my reservation, and when I called this restaurant, no one answered, ever! Even during their business hours and I called for two or three days before my reservation and they make you leave a deposit for your reservation too . The parking is really bad because of the location. You are almost forced to almost park in a garage whether you want to or not especially if you go on a night where there's a show at the Hippodrome theater around the corner. The restaurant is beautifully decorated. The menu is extremely limited and everything's overpriced. Most things are à la carte, which was disappointing. The food here was amazingly delicious - it was the service that made this business lose a star. Us, and several other customers, waited for several minutes at the front of the restaurant before any one even acknowledged us. Then, when we let them know we wanted to place a to go order, the guy at the bar audibly complained about having to do to go orders. We went to the bar (as instructed) to place our order and we were told that we had to pay more and get an order for here and then we could box it to go. We wanted our food at that point, so we agreed, waited for our food, and boxed it on our own when they brought it out. While waiting, the bar tender continued to go on and on about being tired, complained about customers, we saw several orders sent back, and he just continued to talk trash about customers instead of trying to get things corrected. Second time going to jerk at night and it was phenomenal. I tired salmon nachos, the chicken and salmon tacos, the oxtails, the jerk chicken, the fried snapper, the Rasta pasta, the rum cake, and the bread, pudding, the lamb chops, and the mac & cheese. Everything was superb from the seasonings, presentation and the customer service was immaculate. Special shout out to my girl Maya, who was very attentive, very welcoming very warming. It was a phenomenal experience. I definitely will come back again. The ambience is very unique. It looks like something from a storybook with all of the low lighting the pictures on the wall and they have a lot of ethnic decor, which I totally appreciate. I decided this would be a good choice for date night dinner last Saturday because the last time I was there for their soft opening, it seemed very promising. They have a speakeasy upstairs that I was informed was open now and I had been excited about coming back to try it out since the initial walk through. Although they are not in the best part of the city, I still thought it would be a good idea for dinner. I was completely surprised to see there was no one sitting at the bar and a lot of empty tables in the restaurant. The vibe still seemed nice and people were there enjoying themselves. We opted for the window seat which we realized was an open door with an acrylic large window piece leaning against the door frames. This became evident after looking at it for some time and seeing broken glass at the bottom and trying to figure out where the breeze was coming from. Interesting. A smashed fly and its guts also remained on the piece. After placing drink orders and our entrees, I got up to wash my hands. This is when I realized the women's bathroom was all the way upstairs. I made my way up the stairs and into the bathroom which didn't have paper towels and was out of soap. The doors were falling off the hinged and there was no toilet paper on the actual rolls, they were just on top of some of the toilet paper holders. The bathroom was dirty. I was so embarrassed I had suggested coming here for dinner. I made my way back downstairs and dinner head arrived. I was torn between leaving and staying and also mentioning what I have seen in the bathroom. My date commented about how great the food looked and smelled and said they were good with staying. I sat down and he started to eat. The cabbage was really good and I enjoyed the escovitch vegetables. The snapper was warm and not piping hot like you'd expect from a freshly fried fish. Our server was polite but definitely over promised and wasn't too well informed. When we sat down and decided to order drinks, I asked if theirspeakeasy was open and was informed it was. She asked if we'd like to to eat up there but we declined and agreed to go up there after dinner. Well after dinner arrives and as we made our way upstairs we were informed it was closed when I asked if we could take the elevator up as a gentleman was about to go in. Our server was behind us and I turned to her and said I thought you said it was open and she acts a gentleman who I believe was one of the managers there if it was and he said no. So okay. This is one of the main reasons I decided to come. Although I wasn't surprised because there wasn't anyone sitting at the bar downstairs. I had hoped that upstairs was a little bit more busier. I'm not too sure what's going on but this was a Saturday night and the restaurant was pretty much dead. Later on in the evening, my stomach started feeling upset and instead of enjoying the rest of our evening on the town, I had to rush back. As we were heading back, I started replaying the night and what could have been wrong with my stomach and I realized it must have been the fish. It wasn't hot and steamy and they must have re-warmed it. My stomach is very sensitive, so I'm pretty sure that's what it was. It was less than an hour before my stomach started feeling awkward. Absolutely fantastic time both times I went. Went in December before the holidays and then again in early January. Both times, arrived around 7pm and got great seating in the booth areas near the hostess station. The food, both times, was top notch. Ox tails, jerk chicken, curry chicken and fish are delicioso!! I have to say that I am surprised that a Jamaican spot doesn't sell ginger beer. That was very strange and I hope they fix that soon. I also find that the beef patties price is inflated. But, everything is delicious and the presentation of the jerk chicken in the pot is gorgeous. If I had a complaint, it was that the music tended to be loud at times and the happy birthday song can be a bit overdone when it is back to back. I feel like they should do the birthday song celebrations at once to as many people as possible at the same time by having a staff person at each table singing the song and bringing the candled cake. But, in short, we will be back. We are looking forward to seeing what the speakeasy vibe is like. read more

I'm talking no water, no utensils, no napkins--nothing. And when asked about the drink choices or menu items, she had no idea what they entailed. Definitely not a good look. It took nearly 30 minutes to place our order, and the restaurant was not busy at all. Now I see why. The manager was trying her best, though, but they need to retrain their servers properly. My homegirl took me here in Dec for my birthday. This review is reflecting that visit. They are very warm here. I casually mentioned why we came and out of nowhere, they started blasting "Happy Birthday" by Busy Signal. Too cute lol.. my gf really enjoyed the Jammin' Salmon. I had the Choppa Dem (lamb chops) and tried some Kingston Kurry goat last time I came - very good as well. On both occasions, I chose the rice & peas and cabbage. Love the cabbage paired with all of their entrees tbh. It's cooked down and not that crunchy variety you sometimes see. Their plantain is on the sweeter side, if you're wondering. Perfect add-on with the sides. They prioritize flavor over spice here so don't be scared to add scotch bonnet if you need to. There's consistently a decent meat-to-rice ratio as well. The manager Shon knows his way around a cocktail. Definitely try the lemon drops or margarita over the rum punch (a bit too sweet imo). The only annoyance I have is that the women's restroom is up a winding staircase. It's clean, but a little ducked off. Oh & definitely uber if you can. Check this place out though. We were so disappointed and hesitated to eat here but we opted to stay since we wanted to try them out since opening. The food and service were great! We went on a Sunday afternoon, and it wasn't too busy, probably because they don't have a liquor license yet. The vibe and decor were on point, and the music was top-tier. Another stereotypical Jamaican establishment that doesn't have enough inventory of what they sell, and has rude staff to boot. They were truly jerks at nite (particularly the woman handling checkout, the man was nice). Glad to see the cuisine option at the arena but super disappointed by the experience. My boyfriend and I visited this establishment and had a great time. The food was amazing and I had a margarita that was tasty as well. My only complaint was the hostess forgot to add our names to the list when we arrived and it caused us to be overlooked twice before she realized it even after it was brought to her attention and it took forever to get our check. Note that this isn't great if you're in a rush -- it took a long time to get our food. I visit this restaurant on a Saturday night and had heard so much about the DC location that I had to try the Baltimore location. Walking in I was mesmerized by the interior decor. You can definitely tell that a lot of effort was put into the look of this restaurant and also keeping it authentic to Jamaican culture. I sat at the bar with my friends and we were greeted by the bartender. We started with waters and had to ask for ice. This is the story of how I almost missed out on my blessing. All week I had my eyes set on trying the jerk chicken here before watching the Lion King broadway show at the Hippodrome theatre. Walked into the Jamaican restaurant and from the aesthetics to the Honorable Marcus Mosiah Garvey mural, I was immersed into the picturesque atmosphere of the bushes of Negril with a Kingston yard flair. It was nostalgia for the empress and I to be seated next to vinyls I love like Survival, Til Shiloh, and an anthology of the Cool Ruler himself. Nuff respect! We ordered the beef patties (delicious with tasty sauce) and shareable Yaddie Jerk Chicken dinner. It came with rice, peas, cabbage and 7 pieces of chicken. We also added Mac n Cheese. Chicken was fall off the bone like Scar falling from Pride Rock. Presentation was king and jerk chicken exuded opulence in a steel pot presented to us as the chicken remained hot from the flames of the burner. Chicken was seasoned nice and you know I wouldn't be Trini or Caribbean for that matter, if I didn't ask for the pepper sauce. Pepper sauce is a must. The scotch bonnet provided was a nice treat. We went to Jerk at Nite prior to attending a show at Hippodrome. The location is convenient. We checked to see if they could accommodate gluten free and were told they could. We got seated. There were three other tables and two people at the bar. The were a couple of servers and someone behind the bar, even though we were told we couldn't order drinks from the bar. A server came over and dropped off a couple of waters. We continued to see that server make several trips to table one and a couple of trips to table two. After 20 minutes, we got up and found somewhere else to eat. I can appreciate not being rushed. But it's not like they were understaffed or slammed before the show. Waitress returned to tell us they did not have the ingredients for the drink. We ordered regular French 75. They arrived 15-20 minutes later and were missing the champagne, sent them back. Ordered the rum punch and didn't get them til 8:20. Food arrived at same time. They were out of ice. We literally saw a worker come in with bags of ice. This was not an anomaly, the waitress came over twice to apologize because the bar was backed up. The table next to us had the same backup with drinks and waited longer for their entrees. I'm sorry but there is no way this place can make any money if they are unable to get drinks out from the bar. Then, they turned up the music to an untenable volume about 8:45pm. We arrived around 11pm and waited nearly 40 minutes to be seated because every table was dirty. Staff kept assuring us we'd be seated once they cleaned a table, but it took far too long. After finally sitting down, our waitress took our order, and we waited over an hour and 15 minutes--our food never arrived. We eventually left without eating. The restaurant was extremely understaffed, the soda served was flat and warm, and when I mentioned this to the manager, her only solution was to suggest I order an alcoholic drink instead.
