Some of the best Chinese in the DFW area. Always a fan of the soup dumplings, but easily our go to favorite is the pork with bamboo. Staff is friendly, and if you're looking for a sweet eat, their offerings of cakes and baked goods is fantastic. read more

Great dumplings and Chinese food. Pot stickers are always perfect. The dumplings are all great. This place has been a strong performer for years. read more

We haven't visited in a few years and wow have they upgraded! Everything looks great and I'm glad they kept up their food standard. Everything we ordered was delicious. Definitely ordered the dumplings. Small steamed juicy dumplings, lobster dumplings, lamb cumin dumplings, and pork and napa boiled dumplings, all so yummy! The small steamed were perfectly juicy so we were pleasantly surprised. The pork chop rice was good even though for some reason I was expecting grilled pork, it is actually fried. Overall, delicious food with great menu options, a bar at the front, and yummy desserts and buns that we'll have to come back and try for next time! read more

Really disappointed at here. It's my first time eating here, and also will be the last time. 1. The food is very small in size and not fresh at all, looks like they sevre us some food that's left by other customers. My gf and i ordered 4 dishes and that's just barely enough for two people. 2. It takes extremely long for them to serve dishes, we waited for like 20-30 minutes to get our orders and there are only several guests. 3. The price is high, not matching the quality of the food. read more

We have ordered garlic shrimp we love it and we order every time, last weekend and the dish served us was sweet and sour shrimp. We do not like sweet taste of the shrimp. We have asked the server to change to garlic shrimp and a manager came to us instead of the server and started talking very offensively. She insisted our dish is always same taste and this is the garlic shrimp. We explained again this taste is different from the previous taste with showing some past pictures. Some years ago my boss's family and my family had the dinner and ordered the garlic shrimp and then we lover it for some years. While our argument one of owner family showed up and she poured oil on the flame and the argument was so terrible. And this owner family changes the main point from the taste to shrimp style if it had a head or not. We were so tired of the argument and stop eating, and the I asked the check. Then the bill charges the shrimp 2 times... I know this restaurant is popular, but it forgets the basic manner how to treat the customer. It was most terrible trouble at a restaurant. If you will ask the taste at this restaurant, you will be talked back with harsh wording. We will never return. read more

I had been wanting some good Chinese food so I looked up places near me and Jeng Chi was one of the first places to pop up. I went around dinner time and It wasn't too crowded, me and my friend got seated right away. The service was great, our waiter was very prompt and helpful. I ordered the juicy beef dumplings and the chicken fried rice. The chicken fried rice was pretty good, nothing outstanding but definitely not bad, also I feel like it's hard to mess that up. As for the dumplings, I have to say they weren't my favorite. The beef had a plain flavor, I expected a little more. I've had better dumplings just to put it like that. read more

Had been coming to this place for years. Will not be returning. Obvious they are now catering to a different crowd as this place has turned into a glorified Panda Express. Looking around at the customers, it was less than 10% asians on a Saturday night. I guess we were the last asians to find out not to come to this place. The egg drop soup tasted like water. The fried shrimp dish consisted of 10 pieces of shrimp for $25. The Mongolian beef was a giant plate of onions with a few slivers of beef thrown in for $15. The server literally asked us 10 times if we wanted to order more alcohol. It was clear she was instructed to push the higher profit margin items. My family of six spent $200 and we were still hungry. If you decide to go here, don't say you weren't warned. read more

Excellent place and food! Place looks really clean and presentation was nice. We got the regular soup dumplings, lamb soup dumplings, pork and cabbage boiled dumplings, and stir fry eggplant. Soup dumplings were great. Lamb was surprisingly good since they didn't use ground lamb. Boiled dumplings uses a different wrapper that is thicker and wasn't really to my taste. Fillings were good though. Eggplant was very oily but really good was well. Overall, would come by back to try other dishes. read more

Delicious. Fresh. Great service. Taste great there or delivered. The dumplings are the absolute best.

We ordered to go tonight. This was the worst experience. The chicken was dry, over cooked and tasted like it had been sitting out all day. The pepper beef came and there was maybe 5-6 pieces of beef and the rest was all onions. The taste of both was not even edible! I used to frequent Jenn chi but would highly recommend not going to this place! read more

Favorite Chinese restaurant in DFW! Been coming here for 10+ years. Make sure to order the veggie dumplings.

I tried to like this place but it was absolutely the worst Chinese food. I ordered the tiger shrimp $20 and it definitely was not tiger shrimp. Soup dumpling was sub par at best. Dan Dan noodle's sauce was dry like toothpaste. Avoid this place at all cost. read more

We ordered the pan fried veggie dumplings which were good and a good value. I thought the sweet and sour soup was meh-not enough flavor. The pork belly and egg special was a pleasant surprise. Great value. The white rice was meh-day old? The biggest disappointment was the lotus leaf sticky rice special. It was mostly rice with a few pieces of dark meat chicken, 2 mushrooms and 1 chestnut. We asked the waitress if they had any pork buns. She said no. Then we saw pork buns for sale in the bakery. read more

My wife and I with our 3 children went for dinner last night 2019-08-25 (Sunday evening) and had not the best experience. We ordered the dark broth beef soup, stir-fried string beans with pork, green onion pancake, pork chop, combo fried rice, and fried chicken (tiny nugget popcorn style sized). Dinner started out great actually the beef soup came out first and was hot and fresh - this is important to note... We enjoyed it and waited for the rest of the dishes to arrive. The green onion pancake came out and the pork chop with it. They were warm but not hot and fresh. None the less, we went ahead and ate them though because we were hungry and the soup was great. Next came the combo fried rice and stirfried string beans - these are some of our favorite Chinese dishes (we order this a lot at all the local Chinese restaurants). They came out room temperature/cold and soggy (for the string beans). A little disappointed - I asked the waitress to please give us fresh dishes. She took them and returned a couple of minutes later. They were the same dishes/ plates but just microwaved and the string beans were even soggier than before (usually they are crispy and hold shape still). So I asked if they had microwaved it... She said "Yes (unsure face/ I slipped up)! Well no they cooked new dishes..." So I kindly asked her to please request new dishes to be made. They again came out, same plates - just microwaved. This time I asked to speak with a manager. The manager came promptly, and she asked me what the problem was, I explained all of the above and then she looks at me as if I was crazy and asked: "What do you expect us to do?" I said, "Please just give us freshly cooked food. We're paying for the food, that's the expectation." She says "okay" takes the dishes and comes back 10-15 minutes later with the new dishes (it was night and day different texture and taste). So great, that was kind of resolved and everything was good right? Nope. We still hadn't received the crispy fried chicken. It comes out a little later - an hour into the meal at this point. It's room temperature and you can tell they mixed old pieces of chicken that were sitting out with new pieces. Some of the pieces were too hard to chew and some were discolored from sitting out from earlier prep. At this point, my wife and I had lost our appetite and decided to pay and leave - no tip and no reason to complain or make a scene. I think this review will help folks decide whether or not they want to eat at an establishment that operates like this. read more

I gave three star because I am a Chinese. It's still good food but I say it's not authentic. I ordered leek turnover but it has no leek flavor; the garlic pork belly has very little garlic flavor; the Chinese cabbage dumplings tastes like pork meet ball you buy from supper market. I heated that the owner of the restaurant is Taiwanese. I've never been to Taiwan so I can't tell it's good Taiwan food or not. Overall, I wouldn't recommend to Chinese or people who want to taste authentic Chinese food and I will not revisit this place. read more

We LOVED Jeng Chi.. we had discovered them off of Yelp and both love Chinese food. For 2, on a Saturday around 6, we waited a little under 10 minutes. Gigi, our server, was super helpful as we were clearly first timers. She even showed us how to eat the juicy dumplings, our new favorite restaurant! We got sooo much food and had a ton of leftovers & didn't break the bank. Must get potstickers, dumplings, egg drop soup & orange chicken! But here, I don't think you can go wrong! :) read more

I don't know what the rave is all about. Our server barely spoke English and was a bit rough and scatter minded. Ordered the spicy wontons and those were pretty good. Everything else such as the beef noodle soup, fried rice, and duck were beyond bland. read more

Man, I'm happy that they expanded but feel its really gone downhill since then. The last few times I went the food took forever to come out, dishes were lukewarm and the taste has declined. What we ordered: - Beef noodle soup: 3/5...there was a weird tomato aftertaste to it. - Spicy wontons: 4/5 they were delicious but...lukewarm and less spicy than other times. - String beans w/ground pork: first dish to come out and rice followed TEN MINUTES after, String beans were cooked perfectly - Mapo tofu: it is better at sichuan king but still flavorful. I probably won't be coming back here with other establishments in close proximity. read more

The vestibule's kind of pedestrian but the counter area's nice. I really can't tell you much beyond that because that was as far as I got. At 1:00PM my daughter ordered carry out for pickup at 5:00PM on Jeng Chi's website. I arrived at 4:55 and was directed to the carryout line. I told the counter lady the name on the order. As she was explaining that it wouldn't be ready until 5:30 another lady said "I just canceled the order. The kitchen's backed up. It's third party so I can't uncancel. I can put in a new order but it will take an hour and a half. Sorry" In that moment I knew exactly how George Costanza felt when he heard the famous line "No soup for YOU". I had a 45 minute anxious drive there followed by 30 minute dreary drive to my daughter's place. I've heard that their food's good, but I really can't say. read more

Party details: group of 8, had a reservation for 8pm. We all ordered 1-2 items per person. Our water was never refilled. Needed to flag down a separate waitress atleast twice to get our own waitress to give us a little more attention. 4 people ordered items that were to be served with rice. We got one rice bowl. Cool, I understand its family style but atleast then check on us. The food came out very staggered even though our FIRST round of food was ordered at the same time. When others ordered a second round, the food came out 30 minutes later. I asked the waitress to get a box for one of the items because it came out late. I did not blame her nor ask for the meal to be free. She then gave me and the rest of the table attitude saying that we ordered the food late. Yes but why does 1 sesame chicken dish take 30-35 minutes to be out? She then blamed the kitchen for being backed up. Again, that's all fine but next time could you make the table aware that the food is being produced at a slow rate? I am giving them atleast 2 stars because it seemed like the table next to us which also had about 8 people get regular service with water and being checked on. I will most likely NEVER go there again or recommend this place to others. read more

Almost 20 years ago we started coming to this place as (quite frequently) the only Westerners in the dining room of about 18 tiny tables, placing our orders by pointing at a plate on the neighboring table, and having our waitress Shao-Ru (spelling?) write our choices in Chinese script on a piece of paper to order them again next time. Although over the years a lot of the waitstaff has moved on, the ownership (both still very hands-on in the kitchen) and soul of the restaurant (and the bakery, oh what a bakery!) has stayed the same. I could tell you what is good (crispy Green Onion Pancake, comforting Pork & Mustard Tuber soup, slurpy Juicy Dumplings, spicy Dan-Dan...) but honestly? Just politely ask your server what their favorites are and TRY ONE. There is nothing on this menu you won't like. Except for maybe the boiled peanuts if they still have them. read more

Jeng Chi - Bring cash. Buy extra. - Bakeries Near Me - Richardson, Texas

Best place for XLB in Dallas! We normally order at least 2 orders whenever we go. They're juicy, and the skin is not too thick and the best part is that they usually aren't super sticky so won't rip. I've only had better XLB in NYC and have been looking for a good place and these are definitely the best in the area. Some of my other favorites are the eggplant with pork in garlic sauce, crispy spicy chicken and the green beans but everything we've tried have been good! The pickled noodle soup was also good. I've never tried their bakery but the breads look yummy too and they sell frozen dumplings so you can take some home and steam them yourself! Service is usually good and not too slow. There's also a 85C right next door for dessert/drinks afterwards which is convenient. We come here at least once whenever we're in town and always have a great meal. read more

One of the best Asian restaurants in the DFW area. Love the Green Onion Pancakes. The dumplings are fabulous as well as everything else.

Small juicy dumplings are the way to go here. Take-out is easy enough. They do have a small bar so mixed drinks are possible.

A friend of my sister-in-law heard this restaurant has the most authentic Chinese food like Shanghai, and they were correct! I have been dreaming of soup dumplings like the ones they call juicy dumplings here for the last 8 years since we last visited Shanghai, and it is so exciting to have found them here in Richardson, Texas. We also ordered several other dishes that were excellent but they could not compare to the dumplings. The egg drop soup was probably the best I've ever had. We also had several orders of green onion pancakes, which were delicious as well. No question we will be back here, this is an amazing restaurant not to be missed. read more

Jeng chi is the real deal. Definitely recommend the dumplings or egg rolls to start off. The egg roll was nice and crispy and quite large. And I loved that I was able to order the crispy chicken and it was actually crispy, sauces on chicken weren't too heavy and If you dine-in, you can request extra rice for free. Will definitely be coming back! Prices were about 10/person for poulty and closer to 15/person for fish and beef dishes. If you're looking for high quality chinese I'd definitely recommend this place, but if your palate is looking for greasy cheap chinese, this may not be your best destination. Inside Jeng Chi is very clean, and the wait staff was incredibly friendly. They were understaffed, but they more than made up for it by being pleasant. read more

Two stars AUTOMATICALLY off for having a nonfunctioning air conditioner on a busy Saturday night when it was 102 degrees outside. The poor guy sitting at the table next to us had sweat dripping down his face! How this isn't a serious health code violation is beyond us. Scallion pancake: very good, but not much scallion. Steamed veggie dumplings: delicious and our favorite dish of the meal. Our 11 month old daughter especially loved ripping them apart and shoving the filling in her mouth. Pork soup dumplings: unimpressive, with little soup or flavor. Sautéed garlic spinach: just OK. Dan dan noodles: without a doubt, the worst we've ever had. Even the bottomless-appetited baby turned her little nose up at them. Service was chaotic and inefficient. We went to Jeng Chi to switch it up from Genroku, but that was a mistake. The A/C thing probably affected our judgment of the food, but that's not on us. What a waste of a "let's get some awesome Asian food in Richardson" dining experience. read more
