Visited September 22nd..see my receipt. TERRIBLE EXPERIENCE! I was the very first person in line ( they open at 11am). I ordered a cheeseburger and a medium shake to go. After 25 minutes I finally got my order AFTER a guy that came in after me ( he was friendly with the owner). The owner..Jeff...was rude and the staff isn't much better. The reason they look busy outside is because everyone is WAITING forever for their food. The burger was nothing special and it was sloppily put together. I paid for a medium milkshake but got a small with someone else's name on it! The milkshake was decent. 45 minute wait!.. should've just grabbed a bbq burger at the baseball field, but we drove by this place yesterday and it looked good, even if the place is busy you still gotta have a plan to drop burgers as soon as the order is in everybody knows that. I like everything on their menu just not the burgers. They're just not my style of fun but a lot of people like them. My favorite thing to get is the chili and they have very good ice cream. I really like the people that Jeff's hires. They're really nice ladies that make you feel welcome. My son really likes to go here to cool down with a nice drink or an ice cream. read more

Their burgers are solid (Yelp app will not let me uncheck food as something that needs improvement), but the service is inefficient and very slow for a supposed fast food restaurant, which is surprising given their staff of 5 behind the counter and the restaurant not being that busy. Unfortunately, despite eating at this restaurant for almost 40 years in drives between Chico and the Bay Area, I think my latest stop will be my last. My order was very simple and should not have taken so long. The long wait took away from the experience to the extent that I will not eat there again. They've lost another customer of 40 years, and, given other reviews here, that is on them. Do not eat here unless you can spare at least 45 minutes for a lunch stop at a burger joint. A shame. But if you can spare 45 mins, it is a classic Colusa burger joint with consistently good burgers. All of that being said: I really like their fries, shakes, and burgers, which are good. That earns them an extra star. My rare low rating is the result of now multiple times in the past few years when I've stopped and have had unacceptably slow service without any acknowledgement or apology for the inordinately long waits for a burger and fries (that are already fried), and a fountain drink. This is a pattern, not an aberration. read more

My husband took me here on a Wednesday afternoon after driving by it a few times during work so we took the long he drive to come try it out friendly workers, they did amazing! The terrible thing was the food, i ordered a double burger lettuce wrapped with a side of onion rings... the burger had a weird texture and didn't taste like beef i couldn't figure out what it was and the onion rings tasted like it had been fried in old oil the inside was doughy and the outside was golden brown. So much to do and so little time... Trying to make lasting memories, and to make someone happy (my ex with brain cancer) how can I say no??? It's been over 4 years... since our last visit.. I drove 2 and a half hours, picked up the ex.. and here we are!!! You know it must be good for the three of us to agree on wanting and craving a good simple burger! Had the hubby call it in (a good thing 25 min. Wait).. by the time I exit and arrive, just waited ten.minutes. We all got the same burger and fries.. We liked that the buns were toasted!..no sogginess and omg on the special sauce! My ex, devoured his burger along with the hubby! Very good burgers I've always had them fresh and it hits the spot. Good ice cream for a decent price just make sure to tell them at least 3 times if you're allergic to something because twice I've been served banana that I said I was allergic but luckily I could smell it. Stopped by for some fried mushroom and potato wedges! Cash only! There's a small parking lot that fills up, but there's plenty of street parking. We placed our order at the outdoor window and took seat at the outdoor tables while waiting. There is indoor seating also. There were many customers on this Sunday afternoon. When they called out our name, we picked up our food from the same window. The fried mushrooms were not hot and seemed to be cooled down, the breading seemed undercooked as it was mushy and falling apart. The potato wedges were fresh and absolutely delicious. I think they had fried the mushrooms first and the time it took for the wedges to be done caused the difference in temperature. It was unfortunate since I was looking forward to the mushrooms, but they just weren't that good. I would love to come back again tho and give it another try and try more items off their menu. read more

We've been eating at Jeff's since the 70s on our way from Southern California to Chico and we always have looked forward to the stop. Sometimes we take the burgers across the street and eat it on the grass of the high school. Sometimes we eat inside sometimes we eat outside, but the food was always good This time, The weather was unseasonably cool so we decided to eat outside only to realize that the trucks parking nearby must've had pigs or pig waste in them so there was a horrible odor. Jeff has no way to control that so no blame there but having to wait over a half an hour in that environment for a cheeseburger, onion rings and a chocolate milkshake seemed ridiculous . The onion rings were gooey inside and overcooked on the outside. The cheeseburger was an odd texture. My husband even thought it might be a veggie burger. We didn't finish any of our meal, including the chocolate milkshake. So sad to see another icon of our youth go by the wayside . read more

This is a great, simple burger and soft-serve joint in the small Sacramento Valley town of Colusa. It serves great fast-food type hamburgers, perfectly prepared with great sauce, onions, lettuce, etc. They have great soft-serve, shakes, and banana splits. Everything is excellent, with attention to detail, like a touch of lemon in the water. Service is great. The place is nice and clean, with attractive windows and nice seating under the shady trees outside as well. I don't usually write bad reviews and normally Jeff's is pretty good about everything really but my only complaint is that my order was given to someone else so I had to wait nearly an hour to get a simple cheeseburger fry's and a shake. Was in town visiting my parents & craving burgers. Decided to take my husband to Jeff's since I had loved the place growing up when it was Rick's. We placed our order & waited in the car because it was 110 degrees outside and the inside was packed. There was no one waiting outside but it took 45 minutes + to make 2 burgers & fries. Everyone inside had already been served which made it even weirder. I then watched 10 other people walk up, place orders & receive them before I received mine. Extraordinarily slow. Ordered a burger and fries. Took 40 minutes! We were sure they lost our order, so we asked to check on it, and they said they would and never heard a word back. We then overheard someone at the window ordering, and they told her "We're running about 45 minutes". Wow! This is in no way fast food. Fries were very good. We usually love this place but not so much today. We ordered zucchini and it was so hard I could not bite through the batter- the zucchini inside had dissolved so it was only some seeds- fiber- and peel. Ok - my attached photo is either gonna freak you out, or make you head directly for this place. This was my chili dog - which I should have known might be over the top because they deep fry the hot dogs. I like a dog you can pick up and eat - some people don't...that's where I'm coming from. Husband had a burger and fries, they were good. Almost didn't order, this is in a conservative area and we were shocked to see that staff don't wear masks. The outside seating is enough when it's not peak hours, plus there is an abundance of new covered tables across the street and down 1 block in front of the pool. Jeffs has some of the best French fries in Northern California. They don't skimp out either. 1 large fry is enough for 3-4 adults. There milk shakes are great! order banana, trust me. Try the chili cheese burger or chili dog. BOOM Now theres plenty of extra chili to smash with those fries. Your welcome. Jeff's is great for just you or the family. The prices are unbelievable for a locally owned restaurant that survived the COVID-19 restrictions era. $4.50 for a hamburger is unbeatable. The Classic hamburger was well put together with Jeff's secret sauce, lettuce, tomato, hamburger style pickles, chopped onions, and a freshly grilled beef patty. The service was fairly quick.
