JCPenney sells cotton clothing! So many of my favorite clothing retailers have closed in the past few years. I was looking for a pair of white Chino pants and white Chino shorts in cotton, which is a necessity for the summer heat. I checked so many retailers and couldn't find the product nor the size nor the fabric that I wanted. So many retailers have limited inventory right now. I found what I needed at JCPenney online, and I was surprised at the large selection of cotton clothes. I ordered online and picked up in-store with no shipping fee. The price was amazing, the quality was okay, and the cotton clothes were very comfortable. Of course, JCPenney is not the height of designer clothes, but I will definitely be back for basics like summer shorts and t-shirts. I also purchased a pair of Liz Claiborne pillows, about a year ago, with which I have been very satisfied. They're very comfortable, they wash up great, and after a year they are still fluffy and comfortable. I prefer this store for basic clothing items over retailers such as Kohl's and Target. read more

Edited a day after the original post... new first paragraph added. After attempting to call three more times I finally got through and spoke with the store manager, Monica, who was wonderful. She took my info, looked into my complaint, and called me back within the hour with a resolution. I changed my initial 1 star to 3 after speaking with her the second time. I typically love JCP and often shop at my local store (Ahwatukee) but decided to stop by the Tempe location since I was in the area. Big mistake. First, it was 2:30 on a Wednesday and the store was very slow, but I couldn't find an employee anywhere. I was looking for the boys section but all of the signs said either infant/toddler sizes or sizes 8-20. (We were looking for 5-7.) We finally located the slim selection they had right under a large sign stating "Boys 8-20", but at least we found the right area, because throughout our search there wasn't an employee to be found (not for lack of trying!). We finished up our shopping (still didn't see any employees) and headed to the checkout. I told my kids that all of the workers must be up front, so at least checkout should be speedy. Wrong again! We stood in line for over 20 minutes, and when we finally reached the front of the line I was frustrated not only with the wait time, but with the fact that I couldn't open either my email or the JCP app. I informed the guy who was checking me out that I'm a Rewards Member and I knew there was a coupon, but I didn't know the code or the specifics of the coupon (their coupons have A LOT of exclusions). I also told him I had a text for 25% off, which I'd use if it was the best deal. His response was "oh I know, the cell reception is terrible in here!", so I asked if he could tell from my rewards which coupon or discount I'd be eligible for. He took my phone number and said I hadn't accumulated enough points for another reward yet, and I asked again about my coupons and text code and he nodded and said "gotcha", which I took to mean he'd apply whatever discount I was eligible for. My purchase included several items and with 2 little kids who had been waiting pretty patiently throughout our long time in line I turned my focus to them, setting my phone with the text code on the counter in front of him. By the time he handed me my bags we all just wanted to get out of there, and the line behind us had grown to nearly twice as long as it was when we got in it, so I left, admittedly without checking my receipt. I did so when I got home, and no coupons, discounts or codes were applied. I tried calling the store several times prior to writing this review (11am on a Thursday), but when the phone rang and rang with no answer until finally I was disconnected every time, I decided it was time to share my frustration on Yelp. My advice if you plan on visiting this store would be: make sure you've got PLENTY of time to stand in line, have a good idea of what you're looking for and where to find it on your own, have any coupons or codes downloaded and ready prior to entering the store, and closely check your receipt to be sure all proper discounts have been applied. read more

Do not trust their online sales department. especially the Appliance department. The corporate offices offer sales flyers but the Appliance department does not abide by these advertised SALES. In my case I bout a Washer & Dryer in October 2017 online but I was assisted by the appliance department to answer questions about the delivery and installation. Can you believe they charged me for a CORD to get electricity to the Dryer? So the online page said they were discounted UP TO 40% off and Free Shipping & Installation. The offer was : Original Price was reduced to the current (10/10/17) sale price *$ 437 each which should have been $ 874 plus tax Around $ 943 but when it came in on my Statement it was over $ 1400, I have called them 10 time and emailed them 3 times even on Facebook but they refused to correct it! read more

When I first got there I had to ask for help from an associate just standing by. After that, I was left to figure it out. Definitely not trying to make sales here. I actually helped my mom find new products and colors and gave her make up tips. They were also out of stock on a couple items. One of the girls kept talking about how hungry she was. I have to admit, I'm not usually a JCPenney shopper. Today, however, I needed to purchase an outfit for an interview and felt I would have the most luck here. I was correct. I found a nice blouse for $14, tights for $7, and killer pumps for $30 (my splurge of the day) for the occasion. Besides finishing my interview attire, I found a cute zebra-print romper for $4 dollars. Yes you heard me correctly, FOUR DOLLARS. I also found an adorable tank top for another outrageous $2. Head in there this weekend, they are having a killer Labor Day sale and it's totally worth it. Oh and on top of that the employees were super friendly AND there is a Sephora inside. Always loved this store. Bought a pair of basketballs socks a few months ago. They forgot to remove the alarm thing. Took them back to have the alarm thing removed. Didn't have the receipt because it was a few months ago and obviously at the time I didn't know they had left the alarm on them. The guy acted like I had stole them. Yes I know how it looks but what am I supposed to do. He took the thing off, then rolled his eyes when I said thank you like I was a liar. RUDE CUSTOMER SERVICE. I will go to Macy's from now on. Had our family portraits taken here last night. 2 adults, a cat and a puppy. The photographer knew exactly what she had to do to get their attention. Hands down, this is the CLEANEST JCP I've gone to. The people are generally nice. I usually shop online and have the clothes delivered to this store. If you haven't used that service, I recommend it. This JCpennys is on a strong decline in customer service. I came to this location to get a ring my parents purchased for me back in 2009 repaired for the 5 or 6th time. This ring was sold to my parents by co worker named Peggy Sanderson who worked in this jewelry department for many years, she then transferred to superstation springs and died working for this company. I was lucky enough to work very closely with Peggy when I worked at the Sephora opening the store, from the ground up. The ring that was returned was chocolate diamonds in a dark pewter setting and what i had was a white gold setting with champagne diamonds inside. After telling us she was going to start an investigation and talking to other Coworkers she eventually said that she needed to clean the ring and that the ring needed to be cleaned. Are Perez stated that she clean the ring and that it was ready for pick up my parents and I return to the store to pick up my ring where it was extremely tarnished and and not in any condition I'm familiar with after having have done this with JCPennys soooo many times. Not only does the ring look totally different than expected because i doubt it is my ring, it also is a totally different size. So now after waiting several weeks and getting a ring that isn't mine, I'm now having to send it bacccck to be " professionally " cleaned and sized, is ubsurd. It's total dishonesty and I'm completely uncomfortable with how they're handling diamonds, customers and the return of peoples personal jewelry. It's really sad that this location doesn't value their products or the customers that have been loyal to them for years. My parents commuted from buckeye Arizona to tempe arizona just to have JCPennys have zero empathy care and or concern for the situation. read more

My experience with this location's portrait studio has been the WORST. At a Mall Event, the studio had a prize wheel, which included the Portrait Perks Membership Card. I won. I was told she was out of them and she took my name and email address and would email me the info. After several weeks, I called to follow up. NO ONE would return my calls. I left messages on voice mail and messages with a warm body that answered the phone. After contacting JCPenny Corporate, and Life Touch Photography, I FINALLY got a return call. I scheduled an appointment for my 19 month old. There was only ONE person in the studio- the "photographer". She was very unskilled. She sat about waiting for an active toddler to pose. She missed several shots because her camera wasn't ready and she wasn't in position. After nearly an hour, we gave up and rescheduled. I called and asked for a different photographer. That session went much better, as she was skilled and experienced in working with toddlers. Again, I was told that the membership perks card would be in the envelope with the portraits at pick-up. A few weeks later, I run it to the store figuring I would just pick them up and go, leaving the family out waiting in the car, including a busy now 20 month old. There is NO ONE in the studio. The inept photographer from the first session was taking photos and NEVER acknowledged my presence. After the photo session was done, they walked out of the room to the waiting area. It took another 5 minutes and me speaking out that I was waiting. A few more minutes pass by, and she finally comes out photo area, now there are two more customers lined up behind me, and the photo session people waiting to see their pictures. She pulls my envelope and starts the up sell spiel, and I ask about the membership card. Nope. Not there. She gets on the phone and speaks to someone, another 5 minutes goes by. While she is on the phone, I look at the prints. They cut off the top of her head and her shoes in the picture, and it was blurry. A high school photography class could do a better job. She never apologized, and never said a word. Absolutely NO CUSTOMER SERVICE skills to go with her lack of photography skills. After 30 minutes, I leave without the membership card and with crap photo prints with a promise that new ones will be in store in 10 days. I really dread going back into that store to pick them up. read more

Let me tell you....I usually loving going to JCP but not this time and not this location. At 8pm the staff begin announcing the store will close and continue to do so every 5 minutes. This spoiled my visit. I usually leave JCP feeling so good and excited about my buys. I spoke with Jenna the manager and she said this is a directive from the GM. I understand announcing closing time but Not every 5 minutes for a solid hour. Come on guys! If u don't want a working woman's money who typically can only shop in the evening just say so. As for Jenna...she was super pleasant and professional. She was working at the check out counter and busting her butt. Maybe she should be the GM. From here on out my business will stay at the Superstition Spring store. Unless I find out the GM manages that store as well. If so, this long time weekly JCP shopper will take her business elsewhere. read more

You're better off going to another location on ray rd or even paradise valley. The only reason to go is for the portrait studio. No one will EVER pick up the phone except for portrait. I started going to JCP a few years ago and was very pleased with the prices and selection. I especially like the salon which is very professional and offers men's cuts at a good price but give a much better haircut than any of the cost cutter types of places. Additionally I never feel like they are in a hurry or trying to just get me in and out. They never have anything in stock though, and sometimes I feel like the sales girls follow me like I'm going to steal something. I can't say much for JCPenney itself, but I constantly get compliments for a shirt I purchased there. A t-shirt that has the pictures and names of all of the characters from the Super Mario Bros. I love the conversations with my stylist and the hot towel massage too. Man this place is overpriced. They send out coupons almost weekly. Usually for $10 off $25 and some online coupons. Really nothing that special, and it still doesn't knock the prices down to what you can get at Kohl's. Also, since their fall from grace a few years ago, their big and tall section royally sucks. They stopped carrying St. John's Bay standard colored pocket t-shirts and instead sell their own crappy JCP line which only feature SUPER bright colors. This may seem like a trivial compliant, but the $10 big and tall shirts in earthy tones (and some brighter ones) is what really drew us here for a long time. Now there's either JCP bright colors, or the option to dress like a gangster if you are a male over 6'4 and shopping here. Also, I hate the "boutique" layout for women. It takes forever to shop and match clothes between brands. Smart strategy, I get it. But when your clothes are not that cute and overpriced, it doesn't entice me. Also I signed up for their JCP rewards. If you spend $100 in one month you get a $10 off coupon for the following month. Even though I will NEVER hit that mark, it still irritated me that an employee could not find my reward account in their system so a hefty purchase (a nice pillow) would count toward it. Yet she could still find some of my information. Not sure if it was her incompetence, or that she kept saying the system was messed up and freezes on them a lot. Either way its something they need to fix. When I went to pick up the pillow, another associate that helped me gave me the number of the rewards program to call so I can sort it out with them. Their system couldn't see how close I was to earning the coupon. Seems like a crappy set up to me for the nice make over the place has. read more

Was in town and was leaving for a vacation and needed to have my hair dyed. Went to the salon at JC Penny's as the place I wanted to go was to busy and I needed it done as I was leaving the next day. Bad mistake....!!!! I left the salon with my forehead dyed and stained. They don't use a color blocker and I was left stained and horrified. Of course NO manager to talk to! They gave me a solution to rub on to get off by myself! Really!! I spoke to the girl at sephora and she tried to help me cover it up with makeup but no luck! As much as I was horrified she was too! She helped called another manager down who said she was new and would leave a message for the other manager and would make sure she contacted me. Guess what, no contact was made to me! I came here to take business pictures and what a complete waste of time and money. I spent $110 and that was with the 40% of coupon I found. It wasn't worth $40. The person that took my photos was a very young girl that was brand new and completely inexperienced. You think it's best to have someone that is experienced to take photos for someone that will be using the photos for business purposes? I was expecting to give some input on the types of poses And pics. I ended up giving about 95% of input. The 5% she gave was suggesting full body pics which I stated I did not want at all yet she still felt the need to take them. They do no editing to the pics as far as touching them up and they have limited filters. It's very amateurish. Then I receive my pics in email and didn't get some of the pics I chose but I received all of the pics I didn't want. Essentially, I spent $110 for two photos. It is almost comical looking back at it. I strongly suggest no one come here if you're looking for business quality pictures. I would give negative stars if I could. read more

Was told it was invalid. After several re-enters, I left the clothes at the cashier and said, then I'm not buying anything and left. This review is for the salon in JcPenney. I scheduled an appointment for a root touch up and a bang trim, my stylist Jessica was very very patient and was very friendly and interesting to talk to. For being my first time at a JcPenney salon ever, it was a great experience. Jessica had to stay very late until close just to finish my hair. She had a smile on her face the whole time. The salon was immaculate. The stylist was wonderful. My only problem was that maybe I should have tipped her more! Thank you Jessica!! read more

The Sephora inside of this JcPenney's has excellent customer service! The computer froze up a bit and took me longer to check out than expected. The sales attendant made sure I was given free minis to compensate for my time waiting. I wasn't even upset about the wait, but now I am extra pleased with the customer care. There is a pretty large selection of make up and body goods. I will be going back for my makeup needs. The Jcpenney store is always clean they are helpful too. I spent over a hour there trying to buy socks boxers and undershirts. Everything is in the wrong place. Packages torn open. No tags. You find the right thing and not the right size. After all that time I got socks. The lady who kept pestering me to get their credit card I am sure was wondering why I looked pissed I wasn't overly friendly. Not rude just done.
