This is a very good JCP, but I mostly come here for the salon. I live in northern Virginia but have family in McKinney. Whenever I visit them, I always make an appointment with Tutu to get my hair relaxed and cut. I haven't found anybody else who does as good a job as her, let alone at the price. read more

This store is always well-stocked, clean, organized, and the customer service is very good. I especially enjoy shopping here because the layout eases my shopping. The times I've had to pick up an order, I've been impressed with how quickly I am in and out of the store. The same goes for the speed and ease of checking out my purchases. read more

I felt like walking into a concept store rather than a run-of-the-mill JCP. This Fairview outpost of JCP is spit-shiny new...extra wide aisles, clean and organized clothes racks and small shops, and super-cheery bright lighting. Special shops like Big & Tall Men's and Ladies' Petites seem to have more sizes in stock than other JCPs I've visited. This is one department store that I wouldn't mind spending a few hours shopping in. read more

Portrait Studio at. JCPenney: i took my son for portraits and we waited more than 40 minutes past our scheduled appointment time. I do not recommend taking young children here who tend not to understand waiting that long. My son only had a few good photos because he was upset from waiting and of course the camera flash is never pleasing to little ones. read more

This is for the Sephora inside this JcPenny. The staff was horrible. Nobody asked to help us and we waited at the cash register for the longest time. When we were paying, the cashier was not paying attention at all. She did not know what she was doing and also signed us up for a card without even asking us if we wanted it. DO NOT GO TO SHANNON KELLY OR THIS SALON!!! Shannon kelly melted off all of my hair on the top of my head to an INCH LONG. I went in for a simple bleach retouch, nothing new as I have been bleaching my hair for over 7 years with no problem, Shannon Kelly slopped the bleach all over my hair instead of only putting it on the 1/2 inch of new growth. She did not check on my hair the entire time I was sitting with bleach on my hair, nervous I went to look at it, as I touched my hair it all came off in my hand. I told her she needed to wash it IMMEDIATELY Shannon Kelly tried to cover herself by throwing away the handfuls of hair that came out. It was not until another stylist rinsed my deep conditioner that she showed me an entire FIST FULL OF HAIR! Not only did Shannon not apologize she tried to cover herself by LYING to the claims department. JCP made me go through a claims and human resource NIGHTMARE that lasted OVER A MONTH only to say that they were not liable for what happened. I have lost %90 of the hair on the top of my head and been deeply emotionally scarred. JCP stands behind this stylist who will fry your hair off and leave you with nothing. DO NOT GO HERE SHANNON KELLY IS A HORRIBLE STYLIST AND DOWN RIGHT A BAD PERSON. read more

I have given the Sephora inside this store way too many chances. In total, I have been there 3 times and 2 of those times have been the worst experiences with customer service of my entire life. The first time I went I was returning a product purchased online. I stood in line for 40 minutes, (no, not an exaggeration) so I asked what was taking so long, not once, but twice, and the cashier acted like she didn't hear me (the cashier next to her made eye contact with me a few times as we exchanged confused looks). The biggest problem was that she WOULD NOT talk to me! When she finished the return she gave me a gift card and it said JCPenney on it, so I asked why it said that instead of Sephora. She said in an annoyed tone that I could only use it at this one specific store, not a real Sephora. I didn't understand why she was annoyed with me when she was the one who wouldn't respond to my question. Well okay, that's all fine and well, but she could have told me that instead of refusing to speak to me. I was very annoyed because it was a $50 item, not something little, and she didn't even have the decency to explain to me what she was doing. I got so tired of waiting I finally had to leave. I should have just asked to cancel the return and returned the item to a major Sephora, but at that point, I had lost all hope that she would fix it. The second time was good. A much more kind and down to earth employee helped me and gave me some free samples. I thought maybe I just had a freak experience before. But it wasn't. The third time was the worst. I popped back in to use the gift card that I never wanted in the first place to try to find a blush to suit my problematic skin. I asked if I could try on a specific blush to an employee and explained that I find it difficult to find a color that won't accentuate my redness in hopes that she might be able to help. Wrong! She tried on the color I was considering and piled it on. It looked awful, but I know that might not have been her fault. The fault she made was telling me that nothing that I put on my skin would look good if I didn't "exfoliate and moisturize." When I explained to her that I in fact do that as best as I can with my ingredient sensitivities and extremely sensitive/problematic skin, and have recently found the best working products for my skin in years, her response was, "Really? Are you sure? It doesn't look like you do. You really need to moisturize and exfoliate regularly. Maybe you should try taking care of your skin." She kept making more subtle insults like this. I have been in this situation before at a different Sephora, and while the other time was worse, I am never a fan of being insulted in this way. Yes, I have problematic skin, but no one gets to tell me what I do and don't do. If I say I do it, then I do it. Would I really lie to a random employee? This is exactly why I don't trust these employees to do my makeup anymore. If the employees can't handle problematic skin, then why do they work there and aspire to become makeup artists? Some people have real issues and major insecurities and the last thing they need is for their flaws to be pointed out and also be insulted. Anyone with problematic skin, especially rosacea, knows that there is only so much you can do. And if I'm in a makeup store, chances are, all I want to do is figure out how to cover what the hell I want to cover. Never going here again as long as I live. I'll just buy everything from Ulta. read more

Went here today for a haircut. My hair was butchered! It's so bad that I have hair one inch tall sticking up all over my head! The stylist razor cut it and did not know what she was doing apparently! Never again will I have my hair cut at a JCP salon. I was refunded my money, but I still have to walk around looking like a science project until this mess grows out and its very embarrassing! I'd put the stylists name on here, but I honestly don't know if I ever even got her name while I was there. read more

I used to love this store. Not quite sure about it now.. I was shopping in there on Sunday and after spending about an hour picking out clothes, trying them on and deciding which ones to get, I took my cart of clothes over to the jewelry dept to pick out some accessories. I was having a great time shopping until... I left my cart alone for literally 2 minutes while browsing in the costume jewelry dept looking at earrings. (You know how annoying it is to try and maneuver a cart through small areas). I heard some hustle and bustle about 2 ft away from me and decided to grab my cart out of the way. Well, where was my cart??? I searched high and low and couldn't find it. I spotted an "associate" nearby and asked her if she knew where my cart could be. Since it was only 1 pm and the store was not busy at all, I didn't think another customer took off with my cart. I was directed to another "associate" who was walking around looking rather important and I asked her if she knew where my cart was. Oh yes, she knew where it was. They took it to customer service to have my clothing put back out on the shelves. I was annoyed by the time I managed to get my stuff back that I went straight to check out and left. The most annoying part of the whole episode is that not one of the "associates" bothered to apologize to me. Even after I stated a few times that I was no more than a few feet from the cart and they could have asked me first. I probably would have spent a $100 bucks more on shoes and accessories but they lost that sale and I am not sure if I'll be back. So along with the ethical prices has gone customer service too... what a shame. read more

I was a little cautious about shopping here but my daughter went from kids to juniors and I was having a hard time finding anything that was modest/appropriate in her size and another Mom suggested that we try it out (I swore off the store during that weird period). The sections could be better organized but I have found everything that my daughter needs. With their credit card and coupons, I end up getting nice clothes at Target/Walmart prices too. You have to be selective (some shirts are translucent) but the AZ jeans in junior sizes come in short and plus and several cuts - great for adolescence and awkward growth spurts. I recently tried out the salon and I was very impressed. I didn't expect that quality from a salon in the JCPenney. Sephora is there, too. The selection is limited but it's good if you need to grab a couple of things in a hurry. All of it (hair, makeup and clothes) can be charged and that's convenient. read more
