After PDQ in Farmingdale closed, we were looking for another place with extraordinary chicken tenders on Long Island. My son saw Dave's Hot Chicken on social media. I love the story of how it started out of a garage in Hollywood and has now expanded across the U.S. I love a good entrepreneur success story. On this rainy December day after Christmas we were heading to Roosevelt Field Mall and decided to detour to Dave's. The parking lot was crazy and the place was pretty crowded but we managed to find a table quickly. The staff was nice and friendly. The decor was interesting .. hip without trying too hard. The big "Strong Island" sign emphasized local ties even though the chain started in LA. We first balked at the prices. But then we saw the serving sizes!! First, the chicken "tenders" are the size of chicken cutlets. The meals look expensive ($12 for 1 tender, pickles and fries) but a single tender is a full meal for most people! It's served on a slice of white bread, which is probably the only aspect of the entire meal that's not impressive! We ordered the large loaded fries ($17), a tender meal ($12) and 2 single tenders ($5+ each.) Again, keep in mind the tenders are huge. I'd rather have a single tender than two McDonald's snack wraps. So now, what you're probably wondering: How did it taste? Amazing!!! We got mild and no spice. The mild was just spicy enough but even the plain tenders were excellent -- crispy and clearly made with high quality, juicy chicken. The fries came fully loaded with Kale slaw, cheese, pickles, sauce, and 10 chicken bites plus Dave's sauce. The fries stayed crispy and delicious. I'm not a big fry person but these were fantastic. If you're in the area, definitely splurge on this fast food experience. I just hope they open a few closer to western Suffolk.

Fun atmosphere inside and out…read more I came here for some take out and the two guys at the register were super helpful as it was my first time. The menu was a little confusing at first. I ordered three varieties of nuggets: original, medium, and reaper. The reaper seasoning requires the recipient to sign a waiver in the event that the "heat" causes damage. The place looked pretty clean and well maintained overall. The kitchen was visible from the ordering station and the supervisors and packers were super attentive to who was waiting for their order and when it would be ready. They also had a separate huge screen with people's delivery orders organized by provider like Uber Eats, GrubHub, etc. The nuggets kept warm in their containers until I reached home. My s.o. and I tried them all and everything was perfect. The reaper was fire but also extremely hot, similar to when we tried the spiciest chicken sandwich challenge, but not nearly as bad, in a good way. The original is bomb. No flames just simple breaded chicken. And the medium was like a little kick of spicy. We enjoyed all of them. One star removed for cold french fries that came with the orders. It tasted like they were cold and waiting for someone to place the order so they could be served. Happy eats !

Although the service was friendly & the food was ready when I arrived, everything tasted blah. The wings were very hard & dry as well as the tenders. Mango habanero flavor was good but too bad I only got 5. The garlic parmesan flavor was underwhelming & bland- I had to add my own sea salt, was struggling to eat them. Tenders were were not crispy and fries were inconsistent & didn't have enough seasoning. I'm going back to the Levittown location...

Cuisine: 6 Service: 7…read moreDecor: 6 Value: 10 Overall: 7 This is the second location of Kennington Pies and Antonio's Pizzeria. Opened not long ago, this new store is huge. It is not just a takeout spot like the original in East Meadows, but more of a one-stop shop for locals. Other than all the great savory and sweet British pot pies and other English products in the freezers, they have a steam table of Latin cuisine once you walk in, and a large pizza oven in the back. Looking at the menu, you will be shocked at the prices because everything looks pre-pandemic. The weekday specials were simply insane. I posted a picture, but listed the specials below for your convenience. Monday - 2 pastas for $12 Tuesday - 2 sandwiches for $12 Wednesday - 2 pot pies for $12 Thursday - 2 salad/wrap for $12 Friday - Sicilian/Grandma pie for $15 We were there on a Monday, so I had to try the pasta special. The pastas were decent portions and each came with two bread rolls. Pasta Carbonara was cheesy and full of bacon bits. It's clearly not using traditional ingredients or top quality, but still relatively tasty. Unfortunately, Lasagna was a bit too mushy and not as enjoyable. Regardless, if you are on a budget, then you can't beat the $12 price tag. We also tried the Fish Burger, which was $4.50 for a substantial sized sandwich. Once again, the price is amazing, but the product was just okay. I wish the breading was more like an airy beer batter. Anyway, I plan to come by on a Wednesday soon and take advantage of the Wednesday special and stock up my freezer with British pot pies.

All the locals line up for this delicious food, and it's so worth it! Delicious food, great prices, generous portion sizes, large variety of menu options, great customer service! They have a HUGE menu! (See my menu photos). Most items (not all) are premade, and kept in hot steamer tables, ready for your order. There are a few items that are made to order. Our mofongo took about 15 min for them to make, but we didn't mind. The entire staff is so friendly and accommodating. They took such great care in packaging our food. I was so impressed! Each item is overflowing the containers since the portions are very generous. They make sure to wrap each item individually, in plastic wrap, to avoid any kind of spillage. Don't waste any of the delicious juices and gravy! I really appreciated that the food didn't get spilled in the car before I got home! Kudos to the staff! We tried: -- Sancocho Soup ($11/Large): comes with a pint of white rice. Comfort food at it's best. Very good! -- Mofongo w.Pork ($10): comes with a small container of gravy. The Mofongo itself was a bit dry but good after you include some gravy. Very good and worth the wait! This was a great first experience and I can't wait to go back to try their goat stew, roast pork and other goodies. This restaurant is very busy, so the fast turnover for the food kept the dishes fresh and tasty. Rincon Dominicano is more of a takeout place but if you'd like to eat in, they do have about 10 stool seatings by the counter looking out of the window. Restaurant is very clean. So glad I finally made it here, and we shall be back to try other menu items!

Can't compare this with fast food locations like Popeyes, but can draw similarities to say an old school Boston Market that no longer really exists on L.I. You get an option of a side or a few but more homey to the Latin cultural roots of this chain. Therefore instead of ordering say mashed potatoes you can order Yuca Fries :) which are a healthier version believe or not, with just a slightly starcher root vegetable texture. On this outing to try the new location we opted for the 2 piece Drum Thigh with one side (slaw) drink and dinner roll, and added two Breasts and the Yuca Fries. All were made hot and fresh and served to our table by a friendly counter server, family style in large festive plate (w/side plates, disposable utensils). The flavorful chicken was great, yuca fries yummy and the slaw was definitely worth trying since their recipe tastes different than others. Pricing was more than fair for what we ordered, and I would consider definitely going back to try more of their menu items, as well as recommending others to give them a try. If you're not in this area to give them a try, I believe you can spot them at Penn Station. ;)

The meal includes 8 pieces of leg and thigh, 4 rolls, and 2 sides--we chose yucca fries and mac & cheese. I had takeout from a previous Yelp event, so I didn't expect dine-in service, but they gave us a table number and brought the food out to us. They also provided melamine plates, which was a nice surprise and made the meal feel more dine-in than fast-casual. When I the staff member about takeout containers, she misunderstood and immediately brought them over with a bag--honestly, super helpful. Service was outstanding. The food was hot, fresh, and delicious. The chicken was crispy and full of flavor. My son loved the yucca fries and rolls. I especially enjoyed the mac & cheese and chicken. We also tried the jamaica and horchata drinks (not included in the meal), and both were excellent. I wish I had a Pollo Campero near me--but maybe it's for the best, or I'd be here all the time!
