It's where I get my smoked fish, fish salads(try the whitefish) and great Nova. The staff are friendly and efficient. It's a GREAT place and a pleasant experience. read more

OK, first off, this place is WAY too small to be such a clusterfuck. It's like "well, what are we? Deli? Ice cream parlour? Pharmacy? Oh hell, just ram it all in there - it'll fit!" And judging by the schizophrenic signage out front, I'd say that's a pretty good guess of how it all went down. The BLT I ordered came on hamburger buns that are the same as the ones you can buy at the Jewel across the street, one slice of tomato, a heaping helping of shredded iceberg lettuce, and 3 microwaved slices of bacon (yep, saw them microwaving it!) - all this and a 1/4 cup of coleslaw for $6. Oh and a pickle. But really - where are these other reviewers getting the idea that these sandwiches are huge? Pre-packaged buns and too much lettuce do not a large sandwich make, my friend. I guess I was just irritated by the whole set up and how there was too, too much stuff in that joint. Oh, that, and the guy that kept interrupting my purchase of the sandwich by continually asking the girl for "potato pan-cockys. Could I get a pancocky? Come on, just one pancocky." I've been wanting to try JB's for awhile & today was the day! I got it delivered & it arrived sooner than the estimated time. I got the "i like it hot" minus the mustard & i got my guy the "my cardiologist needs a new car", both with pasta salad sides. My guy's eyes bugged out when he saw the sandwich & he rejoiced at the 4 big deli pickles on the side. Both of us could only eat half of our sammies, but the leftovers will be amazing! My brisket/turkey combo was juicy & delicious. His brisket/pastrami/corned beef combo was great-all i could get from him were grunts & mmm's as he tackled it. He really enjoyed the pasta salad & the sandwich. As you can see in the pics, he had already taken several bites and it was still gargantuan! Round 2 on the other halves of our food later. My husband and I came in here today and were greeting immediately by who I believe was one of the owners. She offered us some free coffee cake to try and ran through the menu on her best recommendations. The guy behind the counter, probably an owner as well made our sandwiches. A lot of Yelp reviews have said he is "rude"- he's not. He's sarcastic which apparently goes over a lot of people's heads sadly. Very nice people, cute deli and the food was great. Definitely disappointed. Ordered a club, picked out some chips, asked for fruit. Waited. Started to pay, got talked out of the chips because "standard ruffles come with the sandwich". Got home, opened it up to a club sandwich made poorly pounds of turkey, at least an inch and a half of turkey and barely anything else. Way too big to even begin to bite into (had to fork it). This review is based solely for delivery on a severely hungover starving afternoon. My expectations were fairly low. I needed sustenance. It's a deli. How can they screw anything up?! Well it's like they just don't care. The food tastes like it. I ordered a rueben, BLT and potato pancakes. The rueben was the best of all the items but it was never heated thoroughly. The cheese wasn't melted ever. It was still in a slice form. It had nothing to do with the delivery. It was the person cooking and creating it. The BLT was blah. It was oddly smoky and all the bacon was on one half of the sandwich. Again, it's about how the sandwich was created and you can tell they don't care. Potato pancakes were cold. Not even room temperature, they were cold, tasted old or stale with possibly a freezer burn taste to them. They desperately needed salt and were almost gummy texture. Pickles and the potato chips were the best part of the meal. I'll skip this place in the future. read more

Attrocious service. I placed an order through their website for delivery. It gave an estimate of 1.5 hours which i was ok with. At 1.5 hour i called them to check on the order and they indicated it still has not gone out and that the driver is delivering 3 orders so they dont know when he will be back. I replied politely that id like to cancel the order and the mn said "you have to go through grubhub". I said "i cant as i placed the order directly from JBs website. At that point he hung up on me. I called back and was immediately hung up on. I called again and was out on hold. I now need to dispute the chatges for this order as im sure they sre not cancelling it. So I ordered for delivery, BAD BAD CHOICE. part of my order was missing and when I called to let them know, a worker said the driver probably left it in the car and that he was going to call and see if he could "catch the driver before they got too far." After waiting 5 minutes without any response I called the restaurant and ALL my calls were ignored. AWFUL!!!! My family and I have been going here for at least 15+ years. We go in and eat, get carry out and order in through Grubhub. Just got my delivery today (over a 50 dollar order), and amongst my order was a 32 ounce soup. They always include a few pieces of challah bread with their soups... when we go in, get carry out or delivery. This is fairly customary for a Jewish deli. Today no challah. So I call the store to let them know and they were fully of excuses and didn't even apologize once or try to smooth things over. Both ladies I spoke to were quite rude and one of them was the manager. She insisted they "never" do that which is a total lie. They lost a long time customer today. There is a way to handle things and they obviously have no clue about customer service or care about keeping their customers read more

I don't know how this only has 3 stars. They have great sandwiches, a huge selection of soft drinks, and amazing soups! This place is also a pharmacy which sets a really unique Oldschool vibe. I've never used the pharmacy, but their chicken soups have nursed me and my family back to health many times! read more

I placed an order @ 5pm and was told food would arrive by 6:45pm, the time came and left so I called and got a lady on the phone who told me the food was just bagged and leaving out and said sorry because they were down one driver, so 8pm came and I drove over to the location to only find them closed for the day and my CC charged and no food to be eaten. It is a real Jewish Deli. The sandwiches are huge even the ones that say they aren't. My only beef would be that it appears that they don't have a flattop grill. So the bread is toasted in a toaster the sandwich is constructed then heated in a microwave to melt the cheese on the reuben or the specialty sandwiches. For this time of covid and not being able to eat it in house and first time I ordered I got ordered pick up and was told 20 minutes....I arrived maybe 15 minutes was told they were behind and to walk around the block..... the second time I also ordered pick up and it was ready when I came in. This afternoon our family thoroughly enjoyed the Salad Sampler, a Pastrami on eye, some chicken noodle soup and cinnamon knish . Oy vay!- what a scrumptious spread that was! A sweetie named Monica corralled our items, mustering her co-workers to pitch in and get our order out with all due speed, all the while wearing a beautiful smile! The cheerful banter she engaged in with me did not slow her down one little bit. Chatting later (with a gentleman I will assume is J.B. himself), was entertaining, warm and welcoming, as well as informative! Will we be back!? Just try and stop us! This place is a real gem - and they deliver farther than one might believe for such a small shop. (Caveat: watch for the occasional bone in the whitefish salad. Otherwise, savor it's smoky goodness!) This is one of the more interesting Chicago spots. It's a Jewish deli located inside a pharmacy. It's not the kind of place you would go with friends, but for to go food I find it's excellent. It's hard to find a REAL bagel in Chicago. So I'm glad this place is so close to me! I've had good sandwiches from here, too, nothing really fancy but good quality and fresh. Legit old school Jewish deli with an extensive menu featuring all the classics - corned beef, matzoh ball soup, bagels and those orangish sprinkled cookies. And some obscure faves from my grandparents generation like kreplach, kugel, and halvah. The sandwiches are huge and delicious. Super small old shop. Just a couple tables. I don't do reviews but this place DESERVES to be praised. We were grocery shopping at edgewater produce and of course got hungry doing so. Saw this deli as we walked away and when I noticed it was also a pharmacy, I immediately knew it was going to be amazing. JB's DID NOT DISAPPOINT!! I got a pastrami Reuben and ended up taking the second half apart just to eat the pastrami. I've never had any pastrami so good in my life. The staff were all masked up and beyond friendly. My fiancée and I laughed and chatted while we waited on the sandwich and that just meant so much in these more isolated times. We ended up trying a candy bar we had never heard of and my fiancée loved it. If I could give more stars I would. They deliver too so the snow this season won't be keeping us away! EXCELLENT. Been driving by this place for a while now and today I decided to check it out. I was very disappointed not only with the way I was treated, but when I got my order home it was wrong!!! I ordered a corned beef and pastrami sandwich and all I got was pastrami. And on top of it after paying over $14 for the sandwich it's was pathetically small. I have ordered from Manny's and for $15 there you get a sandwich made for two. This place and the older gentleman who helped me and made the sandwich insulted me when I said I already have chips at home and wanted pasta salad for my side. He called me a big shot with his smug attitude and jerkish behavior. Oh by the way the pastrami was horrible. This place should get zero stars if I could.
