STUNNING! Honestly, this place blew me away. I saw this restaurant while out walking around earlier in the day and decided to come back later after the kids were asleep with my husband. This was the perfect date night spot. We arrived around 9:30PM on a Saturday night (right after bed time) and walked down the steps to their basement restaurant. The air conditioner was pumping, which was perfect because it was super hot the whole day! A table was available immediately for us to sit and enjoy the Spanish-infused live jazz band. Our waiter arrived almost immediately and greeted us and helped us navigate the menu. The first thing he told us was that this wasn't a traditional tapas bar where you get two or three delicious bites of each dish. The dishes were actually appetizer sized - and HE WAS RIGHT! My husband and I split four delicious tapas: BBQ Saint Louis Ribs (these were so good and savory, the meat fell off the bone!), Filet Medallion Risotto (the meat was so tender and cooked perfectly), Lamb chops with garlic and rosemary (I would legit eat this as my last meal it was so tasty!) and the truffle fries (my husband doesn't even eat fries and he loved these!). We had never been to a tapas bar before, but I read really good reviews online, so we decided to try it before embarking on a ghost tour. It is underground and the ambiance is really neat! Our waitress was really sweet and knew the menu very well. She was very helpful when it came to deciding what we should order. She also gladly took a picture of the 3 of us when we asked. Ended up ordering some of their specials including tuna ceviche and a shrimp ceviche, along with the grilled salmon tapa and the fried calamari. Our food came out very quickly. The salmon was really flavorful and cooked perfectly! Paired really nicely with the peppery aioli it had on the side. It also came with broccolini. The tuna ceviche was really good too. I liked the wonton chips that came with it. The tuna was really fresh and had great flavor. The shrimp ceviche was also really fresh and light. Lastly, the calamari. Was debating on ordering it and we all agreed that we were glad we did! I do not like heavily breaded calamari that overpowers the taste of the fish. Although, this calamari was flash fried and had peppers and onions with it. It all blended together to create a really flavorful tapa! The calamari also wasn't too greasy. Everyone was welcoming and kind. I expected a stage for the band but they were in an awkward spot against a wall near the bar but we enjoyed the music. The gnocchi dish had wonderful flavor and I believe was just being served that night. The bread was pretty good too but would have preferred a different appetizer instead. No exaggeration everything we had was excellent except one and even then you can taste the quality. The jazz salad vinaigrette dressing is right the blend of sweet-and-sour. The crab stew is basically a chowder of crab goodness. Portobello mushroom with just a hint of oysters - perfect. My wife and I found ourselves in Historic Savannah and after shopping most of the day we messed to "fuel up" for our Ghost Tour that evening. Enter.....Jazz'd Tapas Bar. We entered the main restaurant area via a staircase from the sidewalk down into an area that can only be described as the entrance to "Flavortown". We were seated right away and almost as soon as we set down our server was there to make sure we got drinks as quickly as possible. The absolute STAR at Jazz'd for us was our server, Logan. She spent so much time with us explaining what each dish was and making sure the what we were thinking about ordering aligned with our taste. Logan hit a home run with us by recommending the special soup of the day which was a mushroom soup with coconut milk that was AMAZING!!! I was extremely nervous about coconut milk in my mushroom but let me tell you, if you haven't had it, run, don't walk, to Jazz'd and pray they haven't taken it off the daily specials. It's that good. This soup alone is worth a trip to Savannah GA from anywhere, so, I guess you could say that ,yes, I enjoyed it. After chatting with Logan for a bit, my wife and I decided on the tapas dinner for two. It consisted of a soup or salad, four tapas, two desserts, and soda or coffee for $90.00. It was a great choice! We ordered Lamb Chops with Garlic and Rosemary, Low Country Shrimp & Grits, Poutine, Citrus Shrimp Ceviche, and Filet Medallion Risotto for dinner, followed by Banana Bread Pudding and Vanilla Crème Brûlée. The Lamb Chops were perfectly cooked and well seasoned. There were a mouthwatering medium cook (my wife and I fought over the last one...) and are highly recommended. My wife is originally from Michigan and cannot stand even the thought of grits. Logan assured her that the Low Country Shrimp & Grits was worth the risk. The plating was picturesque and enhanced the overall feel of the dish. The grits were exceptionally creamy and, although they reminded me more of Polenta than grits, were the star of this dish. I have never seen my wife taste grits and react pleasantly but after she tasted this dish, she was in love!!! Seriously, I got two bites, that's it. I can give no higher praise for this dish than that it's Tracey approved. She is still talking about it today! The Citrus Shrimp Ceviche was light and fresh, not overly seasoned, and wonderfully balanced. The Filet Medallion Risotto was as close to a perfect dish as you can get. The well seasoned filet was a perfect medium rare and the Risotto, oh the Risotto. If you are a risotto fan, get here quickly and taste perfection. The Poutine was exactly as you would picture it. The cheese curds slowly melting over fresh, crispy fries, smothered in Brown Gravy. Amazing dish! By the time dessert was served, we were both entering that satiated feeling you only get after an awesome meal but we are warriors! No dessert would go to waste. The Vanilla Crème Brûlée was well executed and the torching of the sugar on top was exactly what you want. It was not so toasted as to give the dish an overpowering caramel flavor, rather, it gives a nice crunchy contrast to the creamy custard. I wouldn't be doing Jazz'd Justice if I didn't write a little about the drinks. My all time favorite is an Old Fashioned so when I asked Logan what drink she recommends and she said the Old Fashioned, I was in Heaven. This drink was exactly what an Old Fashioned should be. With dessert I enjoyed a glass of Rare Wine Co, Savannah Madeira and if you like a little dessert libation with your sweets, you absolutely must try this. The bottom line is that this restaurant should be on EVERYONES bucket list. I am certain my wife and I will travel back to Savannah from DFW just to eat in the restaurant. I cannot stress enough how good this place is. Great drinks, out of this world food, modern comfortable dining room, and the best staff I have had the pleasure of meeting. If you haven't visited Jazz'd Tapas Bar, get there. Lastly, whatever Jazz'd is paying Logan and her compatriot's, it's not enough. You can have a good meal in many different places but service, that's what makes it Great and what brings people back. Ask for Logan and experience what top notch service looks like. Loved this place! It was recommended to us from someone at our hotel. They had live music a nice eclectic assortment of drinks as well as your every day drinks. The music is constantly changing and the little plates are perfect for sampling. We got three small plates and it was enough food for both of us for dinner. One of the plates was a Cuban sandwich and it was cut in half and it was scrumptious. First night in Savannah and OMG I. Five stars across the board. Food, service, price, atmosphere and decor. This eclectic place is funky in the best way possible. We got the tapas for two. Two starters, four tapas, two desserts and tea or coffee for $80 bucks. Purchased separately it would cost about $120 before tax. Starters were crab stew and Caesar salad. OMG II. What a great start. I told my wife, if the rest is like this start, we are going to have an excellent meal. Next came the shrimp and grits and blackened salmon with broccolini. OMG III. Was my first time to have shrimp and grits. I'm a fan. Not a big fan of salmon but this was the best I've ever had. Last round of tapas were the ribs and lamb chops with their sauces and new potatoes. OMG IV. Juicy chops and fall off the bone ribs. We asked for bread so we could sop up every last drop of all the sauces. And finally OMG V, goes to Taylor, our waiter. He took great care of us. You can tell he really loves his job. He highly recommended the crab stew and chops. So happy we listened. He also recommended the bread pudding but it's such a heavy dessert we opted otherwise. We would return and highly recommend.
