I noticed a water spot on my ceiling, and it seemed to be right where my A/C drainage line should be. I am too fat to get up into my attic to check out the situation myself, so I decided to call for some help lol. Nobody had been up there since the unit was installed about 8 years ago. Figured it was due for a tune-up, or a closer look, regardless. I called Jaycox up, and they said they would have someone out today! Steve arrived and I told him my concern. He went up into the attic (God bless his soul...hot as hell today, and everyday here in the Summer) and discovered a couple little things. Thankfully, my drip pans and condenser lines were not blocked, so that was good. He did notice that one of my drip pans was off centered and not directly under the unit. So he went up there, added some more PVC pipe to direct any water to the drip pan, tightened up some loose ends and flushed out the drain lines just in case. Was in and out of here within about an hour or so. Couldn't imagine being in an attic any more time than he already was! Price was extremely fair! $99.00 for the service visit and then he charged me for 30 minutes of labor. Total was about $168.00 which I thought was more than fair for the work that was done! This was my first time using this company and it won't be my last. They are local here in Surprise! I will call them up going forward if I ever need any HVAC work done. We've used Jaycox over the last 7 years to do a twice a year tune up, but our A/C which was 23 years old was failing. Today we had a new Carrier A/C & furnace put in by Jaycox Air Conditioning and Heating. The installers were polite, conscientious and very knowledgeable as they have been at all our tune ups. Because we bought a larger unit our attic access needed to be larger so they increased the opening, cleaned up the mess and then put a nice trim around the edges to finish it off, looks great! TREMENDOUS RESPONSIVE SERVICE!! We have been w/Jaycox since 2016 & their periodic check ups (Fall & Spring) have helped us avoid breakdown. On Sun Jul 2 our small A/C (purchased and installed by Jaycox) broke down. We called Jaycox at 7 AM Jul 3 and a tech was here at 8 AM on Jul 3! Jamie made it a point to come to us first since we were leaving. He diagnosed a bad capacitor which prevented the compressor from coming on and the motor to run continuously. He replaced the capacitor and ordered a new motor under warranty. We were leaving Jul 4 for a 1 week trip so Jamie arranged for us to pay in advance so that the repair could be made while we were gone. I'm writing this review on behalf of my parents - Our AC unit went out and we had another well-known company in the area come out to give us an estimate on fixing what was wrong, which happened to be the compressor. They gave us an astronomical price, so we called Jaycox, whom we had service our unit in the past. We were thankful that Patrick was able to help us over the phone and quoted us a much more reasonable price (less than half of what the other company had quoted us). Shane, the technician who came out to replace our compressor and complete the job, was very knowledgeable and helpful. Fabulous service! Jaycox installed our Carrier AC GasPack 15 years ago. Friday it started to make noise. We called JayCox late Friday morning; they sent a service rep (Kyle) out within an hour. He diagnosed the problem, took the part with him, found the part at a Carrier location in the valley; drove across the valley to pick up the part and had it installed by end of day. Our AC unit, attic coils and heater were original from 1996. We decided it was time to get a new one installed before this one gave out on one of our extreme hot days of summer. Jaycox had been doing seasonal checkups on our AZ and heater since we bought this house in 2018. They never tried to tell us to get a new unit or upsell anything for the units. This weighed heavily on our decision to use Jaycox. In addition their sales man was very nice, knowledgeable and always answered my questions, which were many. The work crew came in and had to go through the access in the master bedroom closet, they sealed plastic all around our clothes and we could not tell they had been in there, other than the hole was bigger which they put up framing and it looks better than I had envisioned. The crew were professional, courteous and had a general concern for my satisfaction that far exceeded my expectations. We have been using Jaycox for several years and every time we call they are responsive and professional. That probably is expected with any vendor but these folks are above and beyond. We have a poor attic layout that requires scaling (on your belly -- think CRAWL SPACE IN 110+ DEGREES on a good day) more than fifty feet across the attic to get to our air handler. I can no longer recommend Jaycox. Most recently, I had them out as my air conditioning wasn't working. It turned out to be my thermostat (a Honeywell from 2004 that allowed four intervals of programming on each day of the week). In less than 10 minutes, the technician installed a Honeywell FocusPro 5000. I was surprised to learn the new thermostat only allowed one setting. He said they used a one-setting thermostat as a more complex thermostat was often too confusing for their Sun City customers. I noted I would not be able to super cool; he said that I could super-cool by changing it manually. I noted I would have to be home and awake at all the times I want the temperature to change. He said he had an Ecobee programmable thermostat at home and liked it a lot. Then came the bill: $69 for the service call, $180 for the one-setting simple thermostat and its installation = $249. Later, I started investigating prices and was shocked at how low one-setting non-programmable thermostats are. I called other HVAC vendors and also checked out sites like CostOwl that described what one should pay for various thermostats and their installation. Interestingly, I found the FocusPro 5000 on Alpine Home Air for a retail price of $57.72...I also found it lower on Mercari, but that is not a dedicated AC site. I noticed that the box the thermostat came in was dated 2013. I called Jaycox and inquired about the cost of labor: $110/hour. I asked what the breakdown of labor and materials was for the thermostat installation and was told there was none; it was a flat fee for the item and the install. I twice talked to the service manager who said I could pay more to cover the cost of having an Ecobee or whatever thermostat I wanted installed. After thinking about it, I told him I didn't want an Ecobee, rather something like I had before. I told him I felt taken advantage of in terms of pricing, and that I felt Jaycox has changed. He suggested I talk to the owner, Patrick, so I left a message. Patrick called me just after 7 a.m. when I was dead asleep. I asked if we might talk later when I was alert. I called again and left a message, but didn't hear back from him, so I tried calling again another day in the 0700 hour. I was told he would be paged (that surprised me). I never heard back. Additional Notes: I also asked the tech that put in the thermostat for an air-conditioning bid. He asked me the square footage of my house. On looking at the unit, he was surprised it was a 5-ton and asked if I had cathedral ceilings; I noted I have 9-foot ceilings. He said that was why a 5-ton was there and needed. I asked about a comprehensive exam, and he said there was no need as it had previously been done by the builder and their engineers. I had indicated a comprehensive exam was important to me in bidder selection. I specifically asked about an energy efficiency exam and he said it could be done after the AC install and they would often throw it in. He didn't look at any other items, and quickly gave me a bid. I think I would prefer a comprehensive exam and efficiency upgrades *prior* to installing a new system as this could impact system size. Additionally, if the initial installers chose a system that was too large, it would be good to detect this. I asked the technician if APS offered rebates on AC installations. He said no, that they said "they were too poor." I later contacted APS and found that they do offer a rebate on qualified AC installations. --I also learned that APS offers a $30 rebate on certain "smart" thermostats, including Ecobee, but not the FocusPro 5000 (as it is a basic non-programmable thermostat). It also bothered me that on another recent visit this year, the same tech told me that the price of R22 was going up and this would make maintaining my system more difficult and he suggested getting a new one sooner than later. I told him that per news reports, the price of R22 had actually been falling. He said I seemed well-informed. Overall, it's my fault for not being diligent in vendor selection. In the past, I found Jaycox to be an economical choice. I know ownership has shifted to the kids from the parent in recent years. I have appreciated that Jaycox responds quickly to service calls. --On the other hand, as is clear from the above, I feel price-gouged on the overly basic thermostat that I have. --I understood the service manager to say that they usually carry two types of thermostats on the trucks (not sure what the other is). I got stuck with an overly basic one (one temperature only) at a high price. I guess I am glad I learned a lesson on a smaller priced job. read more

My 5-ton York went out on my home. After basic troubleshooting could not solve the problem, I called Jaycox. They had helped me some years ago at another home. Their diagnostic fee is more reasonable then another company I compared. They came same day at the promised time, found a seized motor and offered me some options. They were in and out in two hours. Peppered the technician with questions and he handled me well. I am not an engineer or tech but having lived in the desert for awhile am relatively knowleageable in HVAC and always looking to gain more technical knowledge. Felt the technician was completely straight with me. I like the motto on their service reciept "Bitterness of poor quality remains long after the sweetness of low price has gone". I attempted to change a thermostat and somehow lost power to the ac. Being a novice I decided to stop while I was ahead. It is a Sunday and I thought I would be out of luck but called Jaycox as a friend recommended them. A wonderful lady answered and advised the could get someone out today. She advised of the service fee for Sunday's up front so there would be no surprises. As promised a kind, knowledgeable man arrived by the name of Scott. I explained the situation. He checked some wiring and found a blown fuse. He explained I had crossed a wire. He changed the fuse and wired the thermostat CORRECTLY and I had ac again. Great service! I can't say enough good things about Jaycox!! Last year I explained the problems we were having with different air conditioning problems in our home I.e some vents not getting much air and air conditioner running all day in the summer. What first impressed me was Mr Perini. He came out and went over things that could be done to check to see what the problem might be but there was absolutely no pressure to buy anything or choose anything immediately but to review it and if we wanted anything just let him know. We decided to have the complete check to see where we might be losing air. They did much more. The duct work was fine but took us up to show insulation issues and solutions but again no pressure. We reviewed what they gave us and had them insulate as they suggested (one area that was not even insulted but the Jaycox inspector put his phone in and showed no insulation in a area we were having problems with). It took them a day to finish all the insulation and we noticed improvements immediately. We where told our air conditioner was on the border for sq footage of house. A couple of weeks later Bob Perini came out again ( we asked) and we discussed new air conditioners and again no pressure!! ( so refreshing). We chose a larger unit since ours was getting old and chose our seer. The unit was installed without incident and they checked all vents. We had a wonderful summer (2017) !! Cool rooms $150.00 per month lower electric bill and relaxing. We had our fall and spring check ( free) with the same professional attitude as through our entire process. Our home stays warm in the winter and cool in the summer thanks to added insulation and a new air conditioner and the confidence we have in Jaycox.
