Today they juggled their schedule to come quickly to fix a heat problem at my home in Roseland, which I solved literally as they were pulling into the driveway. I had an experience with K Cooling and Heating which was not very pleasant. One of the A/C units in…read moremy house stopped working and I called K Cooling & Heating to get it fixed. They showed up promptly on time. They technician (seemed like a trainee) spent around 2 hours checking the A/C system and told me that a coil was damaged and it will cost around $230 to fix it. I said ok and the coil was replaced, but the A/C unit didn't work. He did more investigation and told me that a panel need to replaced he didn't know the cost. He wanted to charge $230 right away and I insisted payment can be made only after fixing. Later the same day, supervisor/ manager from K cooling and Heating showed up to verify the finding and confirmed it. They gave me a quote for $870 to replace the panel. It looked so fishy and I told them - let me do little more research and get a second opinion. To my relief I was able to find another company to fix the panel for $350. The A/C unit is fixed by the second company. Now I have an invoice for $231 from K cooling and heating, which I am going to pay - not a good customer experience.

What a rip-off! Stay away at all cost! I knew what my 1st…read morefloor AC unit needed, which was a refill of freon R-22. I also knew it would be expensive because it has been discontinued due to government regulations. Ron Jon charged me $400/lb!!! That sounded extravagantly high, so I decided to check. Most HVAC contractors (I called 3) would not give a price for the freon over the phone. They ALL wanted to send a technician out, for a fee, and the technician would then tell me the cost. What a racket! At last, I found a nice lady at Air Group in Hanover to tell me the 1st LB would be $400, and then each pound after that would be $200/lb. So, for 4 lbs of freon R-22, Ron Jon ripped me off the $600!

They came, promptly on the next scheduled date after confirming multiple times. The installers who came were terrific. Two were trainees but the rest of them had been with the company for many years and all were very happy employees. They worked efficiently and expertly, leaving a working beautifully. The gentleman who came out gave me a fairly high…read morequote.... but i thought, if I never have to deal with this stupid sump pump again, it will be worth it. They quoted me 1600 dollars... that was only to remove the old sump (pumps, plural) and replace it with a new one. I wasnt sure if the electrical was to blame or the sump pump so I just contracted with them...thinking they will take care of it. They originally said how it would take probably 8 hours. The day the gentleman showed up to do the work, he was timely and polite. Everything started out great. But then he was done in about 2 hours... (????) so i figured, no problem, at least I wont have to worry about it again... (queue up the foreshadowing...as this was NOT the last time I would have to deal with it). Within a month or 2 I went down to the basement/crawlspace area to add salt to the water softener, and sure enough, there was standing water...(What the heck??) So I called All Clear.... They promptly showed up.. it was even the same guy! He stuck his hand in the mucky/murky water and stirred it around and got it working again.. and told me ..."anytime this happens you can just do this" (UHHH NO THANK YOU SIR, I WILL NOT BE STICKING MY HAND IN GROSS WATER TO FEEL FOR SOMETHING TO TRIGGER THE SUMP PUMP) I told him im not sticking my hand in that so ...what do i just ...poke it with a stick? He said, yeah just do that. So I ultimately paid 1600 dollars for a sump pump replacement that took 2 hours that I have to go and poke with a stick on occasion. How do I feel about this..? Not good, to be honest. I have never paid that much per hour for plumbing work..(well, honestly I paid less for plumbing work from another company that just ended up getting ripped out and to have them text and threaten me)... so I guess at least the plumbing work stayed put and works...90% of the time... but I cannot say it was a good value. I kind of figured that for that amount of money (per hour) I would have gotten a better, more lasting outcome.
