I live in S.Fla. with an elderly Mom in Livingston. She called me in Fla. telling of no hot water and some water in a pan under the water heater. Called Davidson at 4:53 P:M, Rich Davidson was at her apt at 5:30 P:M (40 minutes later). He indicated the water heater (18 yrs old) should be replaced. Rich had his crew on the job at 8:30 the next morning installing a new water heater and removing the old one. The incredible response time followed by having a crew on site as fast as physically possible was truly amazing. The constant communication every step of the way with the quickest possible action taken was really helpful and appreciated. Rich says he is certified as an ac designer by the State of NJ. There is no such certification. He previously installed a new system. The system is oversized and the ductwork is undersized. Of course, now we have problems. He is overpriced, lacks competence in what he is doing and will tell you anything. read more

Davidson is one of those companies that talk a lot but do a little. Three voicemails to set an appointment left unanswered. On the fourth, Rich was late for the appointment exactly 1 hour late. He went to different town he said(!). The estimate appointment went well - they sounded knowledgeable and attentive. But ... most of the points we covered were not covered in the proposal. It was the hottest day of the year, July 1, 2018, and the beginning of a heatwave. I woke up to find that my air conditioning had broken overnight, so I called PSE&G and they said they'd be here between 8 & 12. They arrive and tell me that I need a new condenser, which can't be ordered on a Sunday, will be installed on Tuesday at the earliest, and charged me $211.50 for this diagnosis!! Based on a friend's recommendation, I called Rich Davidson of Davidson Heating and Cooling. Rich arrived in 30 minutes and diagnosed the problem. I needed 2 other parts besides the condenser, which they went to Kenilworth to obtain and the problem was fixed within a few hours instead of a few days as PSE&G felt was acceptable during a heatwave. Overcharged me $5K for replacing just the hvac furnace. I didnt know any better at the time as a new homeowner. Most quotes I got afterwards for my second furnace replacement were around the $2K range. Davidson owner had the audacity to laugh and say he smells burnt cash. I woke up this morning to no heat (not a good thing with a snowstorm on the way). After getting no response from the emergency line of my usual service, I found Davidson online. Not only did a wonderful representative answer the phone, but she spoke to the technician and confirmed I would get a call in the next 15 minutes. That call came through as promised, and we discussed my issue. A technician was confirmed to arrive within the next 90 minutes. My doorbell rang within the expected timeframe and I'm warm and cozy now. Bottom line: Excellent service, great communication throughout and problem resolved within 2 hours of my first call. I just had Davidson Heating and Cooling install a full heating and air-conditioning system in our home. This is the second home over the past 8 years we have had them install a full system. I wish I could give more than 5 Stars for their outstanding all around work in our home. Each day no matter what complications our old house gave them-they were professional and respectful. After spending several days working hard in the cold outside and in the cold attic. They pushed through to give us a great system. The unique layout of our home definitely made the process difficult. We had a custom split system installed with furnace and full AC. The sunroom gets hot in the summer and very cold in the winter. Not anymore. Totally cozy. I need to mention something really important here. The owner Rich Davidson had to put our project on hold due to staff/team getting Covid 19. I can not imagine the overwhelming pressure Rich and his staff had on them because they had to shut down for two+ weeks. Rich stayed in touch with us and kept us informed as they had to push the install date forward and take care of customers with projects that were already underway. Rich, Michael, Mark and Miller went above and beyond. I am a career home inspector. I see HVAC installations everyday in my job. The work they did here is unmatched. 1. A full install including ducts, registers, baffles, thermostats, furnace, two split system units, electrical work and piping/insulation. 2. As they were cutting through the attic into our living space they secured a box around the ceiling and walls so that Zero dust and debris came into our home. 3. They didn't have to say anything but each day they would tell us they were running out for lunch or supplies which kept us in the loop. 4. Some areas needed our personal belongings or storage moved around. They did it without hesitation and they were careful with our stuff. 5. We trusted them in our home because they gave us that comfort which normally I'm not an easy going person in that regard. I felt like I had friends or family working on our home. Never any concern. 6. Cleaned up everyday. Not once did I have to ask for anything to be done. This was a big project with a lot of materials and work. Immaculate each day. 7. I read some poor reviews here on Google-I can tell you that our two experiences with full raw HVAC installations deserve better than 5 stars. DO NOT LET the few poor reviews hinder your decision here. Even more so when a review is left because they didn't hear back and didn't actually have work done. When a company is outstanding and they are in demand it is difficult to get back to everyone. When a company is very busy there will be times that errors happen. Not purposely -just out of high demand which is totally understandable. Read the vast amount of positive reviews. That's where you can see past the few other reviews. Our experience with Rich Davidson showed clearly that he and his staff greatly care about their customers and he truly takes it to heart if someone is unsatisfied for any reason. I understand this because my business gets overwhelmed at times throughout the year and it does get tough to get back to everyone. 8. We had to plan and rearrange to be able to book Davidson HVAC for our install. It is absolutely worth the wait to have Davidson HVAC do your project. Nothing is perfect as a project goes on there will be something that gets in the way. Rich, Michael, Mike, Mark and the others were in full communication with us and handled everything beyond my expectations. 9. I am very critical as I'm a licensed home inspector. I have ZERO complaints and HUGE respect for Davidson Heating & Cooling. 10. Excellent service. We came late Saturday night to no heat and when my when my wife called them Sunday morning, they returned my her call right away and someone was at our house within 2 hours. Rich was great! I called on Father's Day when our AC froze. Rich was here within 2 hours (only because the pipe had to defrost) and addressed the issue. Rich then texted me that evening to make sure everything was working well. The next day, another issue arose and I texted Rich. He responds almost immediately. He came in the morning and when the issue did not show itself, he told me to text him when it acted up. I did and he had 2 of his guys here within 30 minutes. Rich Davidson and his crew were excellent! Showed up at my house at 9 pm on a Saturday night (30 minutes after I called) for an emergency no heat situation on the coldest day of the year. My furnace was shot (I knew I was biding time it was 24 years old) and needed to be replaced. Rich offered me space heaters and would call me the next day with all of my options. There was no pressure to sell me the most expensive one (and his price was cheaper than three other quotes I received) and he is his crew came first thing Monday morning to install.
