They came and assessed the situation and then e-mail two written estimates the next day ( one with an anode package which extends the life and warranty of the Rheem water heater, which we took . ) An appointment was set for a week or so later and the installation was completed. After a few days I took a very close look at the crimp type compression connections ( I dislike these immensely but it now seems to be standard in plumbing) and noticed a tiny drip from one side. Nothing major ( a drip formed every few hours ) but we notified Lesco and a tech came over a few days later and cut out and replaced the connection. He apologized for the inconvenience and I'm very happy with the repair. Professional conduct from start to finish, can't say enough good things about Lesco Plumbing Heating and Cooling.

The technician also gave me separate quotes for other things he noticed that could use some work, and I was able to pick and choose which ones I wanted done right then and there, and I have the quotes in my email to reference if I want to go ahead with additional service later on. I can't speak on the price, since I got no responses from other places to compare with, but I appreciate WaterMac being responsive and communicative. The technician Justin was also right on time and very professional. One thing to note is that they charge $60 to come out and quote, but if you go with them for the service too, they will put that $60 towards the bill.

Smith water heater (sold by Sears as a PowerMiser 9). The A.O. Smith does not make that size water heater anymore, so I am trying to stretch the life of the current water heater by replacing the anode every 3-5 years. For those unfamiliar with water heaters, the anode rod is a sacrificial piece of metal (usually magnesium or a zinc-aluminum alloy) that hangs in your water heater and prevents the tank from rusting. It takes the hit and oxidizes (ie: rusts) instead of the metal in the tank. I contacted about 7 different plumbers, but only 2 plumbers were willing to come and replace water heater anodes. Of those two plumbers, the other plumber replaces only large commercial water heaters anode rods at nearly double the cost, so the choice was easy. Joe came the next week with plumbing crew, figured out how to remove a 4 foot long anode rod with less than 16" head-room above the water heater, and managed to squeeze in a new anode rod. The total cost was $250, which seemed fair the actual cost of replacing the water heater in about 5 more years if I did not replace the anode rod.
