Hmmm. I really wanted to like Javi's, but it was just ok. Arrived at 5:00 pm on a Friday evening because we heard it gets really crowded. We ordered queso blanco and a Patron margarita to start. The queso came out quickly but the margarita was not to be seen. Service was good and the sunset enchiladas were tasty. THEN the margarita came. Honestly-it was the absolute worst margarita I've ever had in my life. It was so nasty I couldn't drink it. Someone was playing with the speaker volume on the sound system which went from tolerable to blow your head off. When we left there was a wait about 6:00pm. There's better Mexican food in Tyler, but the atmosphere can't be beat. I'm willing to give it another try after they work out the kinks. read more

Ambience is gorgeous, if they don't have the music blaring. Hostesses are rarely where they need to be and surly at best if you happen to have a request for a dining area choice. I've heard them say they are understaffed numerous times since the Plandemic hit. Apparently that's their norm now. Many young , inexperienced, wait staff who don't know the menu. Train your people!!!! And don't share your staffing problems with the patrons. Their food is good, especially the Roasted Poblano Pepper and guacamole. Jalapeño margarita is delicious. I've been here 3 times and not by choice, always with a group. Every time, the food was lame and the service stunk. I honestly don't know how they stay in business. Definitely nothing to wait in line for but it's always crowded. I guess it's the location and atmosphere. I can cook better food at home. Been to Javi's a couple of prior times and always enjoyed it. But this Saturday before Mother's Day was an absolute disaster ! Service was horrible, food was way off from normal, and waitresses could not do anything right. Way under staffed could be part of the problem ?? Took over 45 minutes to get drinks. Waitress says bartender way behind, then maybe they lost our ticket. Meals showed up same time as drinks. Drinks were wrong ! Food was not even warm, probably sitting in window waiting for some one to bring out. Just a terrible experience ! Not sure if we will ever return. If we do, not anytime soon. Let's hope it was just an off weekend as this is a beautiful restaurant ! read more

I celebrated my 50th birthday with family at Javi's on 11/6/21. It was amazing! I was a little concerned when we arrived that the wait would be long--the parking lot was FULL! But, our party of 8 waited less than 15 minutes. We were seated (as requested) on the patio--a gorgeous view. Our server, whose name I'm sorry to say I can't remember, arrived promptly to take our drink orders, and she was fantastic the whole time we were there. I don't think it was ever more than 10 minutes before she was back to check on us. (We can be difficult...lots of chip and drink refills, but she never missed a beat!) The food was perfect! I had the beef fajita Javi's Tacos. The beef was tender and deliciously seasoned. The slaw and rice...well, I could make a meal out of just those sides. The salsas, queso, and guacamole were all excellent. This place has a fantastic atmosphere and terrific staff. I highly recommend it! read more

Yesterday, I hosted my sister's baby shower in the upstairs treehouse. The event was beautiful. The staff at Javi's went above and beyond basic service. They knew our intentions of having elaborate decorations and did anything they could to help us setup and for the event to run smoothly. The food was amazing as always. read more

Had the Carne Asada tacos. Usually a ribeye, but this tasted more like a tenderloin. Nice smoky beef, very tender and moist, topped with some fresh grilled corn, red pepper, micro greens and cotija. Had some nice crunchy slaw with a tart dressing. Good service at the bar. Nice to have a late night option for some good food and drink in Tyler. read more

This place did not disappoint! The atmosphere was trendy and upscale, but the prices were very reasonable. The food was all delicious and the queso was heavenly. I was worried with the affordable prices that the portion sizes would be smaller, but they were actually very generous. The outdoor patio seating is very nice. Food wasn't great. Carne Asada tasted weird and beans were bland. Chips were soggy, but cake was decent. Atmosphere was nice, but that's where it ended. The sunrise enchiladas and queso blanco are really good! The service is always great but there is usually a wait to be seated.

When they're on, they're ON! The menu has a great selection of different dishes and so far, I have never been turned down when I ask for something customized to my taste. The drinks are very good and there's a great selection. The place is loud and fun. If you're lucky enough to go on a warm day and sit outside, you'll have a great view. Javis was good. Service was excellent. Usually service lacks when a place opens up but this place was on point! Food was good but not great. Had the white Queso as an app and the carne asada. Carnde asade has a unique taste but def good. The side it came with wasn't my fav, wish it came with rice and beans instead. Had 3 dif types of margs and thought the jalapeo one was the better one in my opinion compared to the others I had. Restaurant was cool but the man dining room is LOUD. All hard ceilings so noise bouncing everywhere. Someone said that's the bar area was more dampened so will try that next time. read more

We've been driving by here since they opened but just now decided to get out of our comfort zone and try it.... Absolutely loved it! At first we were seated in the bar at a high top, not very comfortable because I'm short. But they gladly moved us. Margaritas took a while but they were well worth the wait....and we are very picky! Jalapeno Margarita was delicious! As everyone has mentioned, Queso Blanco - outstanding! And don't worry about the small amount of chips, they bring more. Javi's is a fun restaurant with a large menu. They can accommodate lots of people inside, outside, upstairs and at the bar. Lot's to choose from on the menu but taste and quality may chance from visit to visit. No dish seems to be really consistent but the good news is they are obviously making the food every day. This location has been a couple different restaurants, however this time the right people bought it, I'm thinking it will be around a long time. One star for this place. Food was ok. The staff was horrible!!! From the hostesses to the cooks! There were 4 hostesses that had no clue who to seat first very unorganized. We were a table of two, they sat people who had signed in after us. The waitress was flaky. We asked for napkins three times before she could remember. The bartender's took forever to make our drinks. We ordered vegetarian plate they put meat sauce on the enchiladas... took the food back came back with the plate and we get the plate back that is supposed to come with rice there was barely any rice on the plate. ....
