Yesterday, I hosted my sister's baby shower in the upstairs treehouse. The event was beautiful. The staff at Javi's went above and beyond basic service. They knew our intentions of having elaborate decorations and did anything they could to help us setup and for the event to run smoothly. The food was amazing as always. read more

Hmmm. I really wanted to like Javi's, but it was just ok. Arrived at 5:00 pm on a Friday evening because we heard it gets really crowded. We ordered queso blanco and a Patron margarita to start. The queso came out quickly but the margarita was not to be seen. Service was good and the sunset enchiladas were tasty. THEN the margarita came. Honestly-it was the absolute worst margarita I've ever had in my life. It was so nasty I couldn't drink it. Someone was playing with the speaker volume on the sound system which went from tolerable to blow your head off. When we left there was a wait about 6:00pm. There's better Mexican food in Tyler, but the atmosphere can't be beat. I'm willing to give it another try after they work out the kinks. read more

DO NOT COME HERE! The "service"if you can call it that is abysmal. Our server James came around every 30 minute and then paid someone lady's bill with my card claiming it was the same amount(which it wasn't) and caused "confusion". Incompetency runs this joint. read more

I celebrated my 50th birthday with family at Javi's on 11/6/21. It was amazing! I was a little concerned when we arrived that the wait would be long--the parking lot was FULL! But, our party of 8 waited less than 15 minutes. We were seated (as requested) on the patio--a gorgeous view. Our server, whose name I'm sorry to say I can't remember, arrived promptly to take our drink orders, and she was fantastic the whole time we were there. I don't think it was ever more than 10 minutes before she was back to check on us. (We can be difficult...lots of chip and drink refills, but she never missed a beat!) The food was perfect! I had the beef fajita Javi's Tacos. The beef was tender and deliciously seasoned. The slaw and rice...well, I could make a meal out of just those sides. The salsas, queso, and guacamole were all excellent. This place has a fantastic atmosphere and terrific staff. I highly recommend it! read more

I was not a fan of Javis - I heard a lot of great things about this restaurant, so I did have high hopes. I ordered the crunchy chicken enchiladas with Mexican rice. The rice was dry and had a strange taste. The only thing I liked was the salsa. I will most likely not be eating here again. The food is consistently delicious and service is always good. We've been to Javi's probably 15 times and enjoyed it every time.

When they're on, they're ON! The menu has a great selection of different dishes and so far, I have never been turned down when I ask for something customized to my taste. The drinks are very good and there's a great selection. The place is loud and fun. If you're lucky enough to go on a warm day and sit outside, you'll have a great view. It gets very crowded very fast on the weekends so go early. read more

Had the Carne Asada tacos. Usually a ribeye, but this tasted more like a tenderloin. Nice smoky beef, very tender and moist, topped with some fresh grilled corn, red pepper, micro greens and cotija. This place did not disappoint! The atmosphere was trendy and upscale, but the prices were very reasonable. The food was all delicious and the queso was heavenly. I was worried with the affordable prices that the portion sizes would be smaller, but they were actually very generous. The outdoor patio seating is very nice. I had the jalepeno margarita and chicken sunrise enchiladas and they came smothered in queso! Would definitely go again! read more

Food wasn't great. Carne Asada tasted weird and beans were bland. Chips were soggy, but cake was decent. Atmosphere was nice, but that's where it ended. Our go to for Mexican food. Fajitas are fantastic. Served with fresh made tortillas. You won't be disappointed.

Javis was good. Service was excellent. Usually service lacks when a place opens up but this place was on point! Food was good but not great. Had the white Queso as an app and the carne asada. Carnde asade has a unique taste but def good. The side it came with wasn't my fav, wish it came with rice and beans instead. Had 3 dif types of margs and thought the jalapeo one was the better one in my opinion compared to the others I had. Restaurant was cool but the man dining room is LOUD. All hard ceilings so noise bouncing everywhere. Someone said that's the bar area was more dampened so will try that next time. read more

One star for this place. Food was ok. The staff was horrible!!! From the hostesses to the cooks! There were 4 hostesses that had no clue who to seat first very unorganized. We were a table of two, they sat people who had signed in after us. The waitress was flaky. We asked for napkins three times before she could remember. The bartender's took forever to make our drinks. We ordered vegetarian plate they put meat sauce on the enchiladas... took the food back came back with the plate and we get the plate back that is supposed to come with rice there was barely any rice on the plate. .... We've been driving by here since they opened but just now decided to get out of our comfort zone and try it.... Absolutely loved it! At first we were seated in the bar at a high top, not very comfortable because I'm short. But they gladly moved us. Margaritas took a while but they were well worth the wait....and we are very picky! Jalapeno Margarita was delicious! As everyone has mentioned, Queso Blanco - outstanding! And don't worry about the small amount of chips, they bring more. Food was amazing and prices were way better than you would expect for such a "nice" place! Can't wait for warmer weather so we can sit outside on deck! Javi's is a fun restaurant with a large menu. They can accommodate lots of people inside, outside, upstairs and at the bar. Lot's to choose from on the menu but taste and quality may chance from visit to visit. No dish seems to be really consistent but the good news is they are obviously making the food every day. Drinks are good and we have experienced very good to very average service depending on the luck of the draw. read more

Our favorite Mexican food place! While the service might be a little slow at times, the food is wonderful and the staff is friendly. The guacamole is the best we've ever had at a restaurant. The Sunrise Enchiladas have just a touch of heat and is all I ever order; so good! The patio by the water is a nice place to eat, especially on a pretty day. Wow, close to home, great service, excellent food, not TexMex but what I think of as authentic Mexican food. This location has been a couple different restaurants, however this time the right people bought it, I'm thinking it will be around a long time. We're usually pretty happy with Javi's but today was just not their day. After we were sat, it took almost 10 minutes before another server acknowledged that we had been sat and not greeted or served yet. He eventually told us "I'm sorry, I'll go see who your server is". After approximately another 5 minutes our server, Ismenia, finally showed up and took our drink order. My drink was brought out in a decent time but my husband's was not. Ismenia even came back to the table to ask if he'd ordered a drink ??? We kindly reminded her he had ordered a beer and it was then brought out quickly. It took a while for her to come back and take our order for food, but she eventually did. When our food came out everything was correct but the poor food runner didn't see the step up by our table and he tripped, spilling the hot queso from my meal into my lap. As a reflex, I tried to catch the falling kid and plate. We managed to save my food except for the bowl of hot queso which I was now wearing on my bare legs and hands. The poor food runner obviously felt bad and apologized, while holding his side. Another employee in a blue shirt showed up out of no where and asked if it was just the queso that spilled. We said yes while attempting to get hot queso off of my skin. He said he'd be back with more queso. I went to the bathroom to clean up the mess that was now wearing. It was on my shirt, legs, hands, feet, and sandals. When I came back to the table, more queso and napkins had been provided. However, we never saw a manager or anything to address the fact that hot queso had been spilled in my lap and on my legs. The poor food runner did come back towards the end of our meal to apologize but no one else said anything. We never spoke to anyone about what happened. I'm positive our server didn't even know anything occurred as even she never checked to see if I was ok or even burned. We completely understand accidents happen (and this was definitely an accident), but for management to not even check to make sure we were ok was not ok. Tonight was not an enjoyable experience. read more
