I've been to Javi's 2 times, the first time was right after the opened so they were very busy but the food was good. I try to wait new places out until they have been open several weeks due to everything trying to go there. When I went the first time we had the guacamole for appetizer (which was perfect) and I got the carne asada tacos (very good) This 2nd time I went with some friends for lunch and we got the Dilemma and a Texas Martini ( these both were great) We also got the queso blanco and the fresh guacamole ( when you are seated you get two bowls of salsa ( one is a mix green and red and the other is a more spicy) for my meal I got the appetizer mini brisket tacos ( but seriously wow) they were delicious!!!!! THANK YOU Javi's for a wonderful meal. I will be back SOON!! read more

The service was very bad. No system in place to serve based on who got seated first. Waiter very inexperienced and not trained on customer service. Never got chips for our queso we ordered, had to ask twice. Water refills were non existent. Not the waiter's fault. This is a manager's fault. I believe the manager needs to be more hands on on waiter customer interaction. We will check on Yelp as to whether this problem has been addressed with your managers before we revisit. read more

Javi's - Mexican Near Me - Tyler, Texas

So my wife and I could not wait to try Javi's once we found out about it. We are new to Tyler. Before dinner even began, the waiter told my wife she was too drunk and that he could not serve her. My wife had not even finished one drink. She is just bubbly and nice and doesn't realize how loud she can be. This upset my wife to the point that she was in tears for being accused at dinner for being drunk. She was embarrassed in front of people by a server. We decided to order food and not long after, the waiter comes back to ask if my wife would like another drink and to apologize for the accusation, but if she was drunk, why would she be offered another drink. He said it happens a lot and it's company policy not to serve anyone who is drunk. Understandable, if she was actually drunk. Company policy to accuse a customer for something they obviously were not. Very unprofessional. We get our food and of course some of the items were good. Cheese enchilada was awesome. Queso ok. Taco was ok. Carne Asada was not worth the $17+ that I paid. Ordered it medium and it came very well done. We spent $90 for food and tip. (yes, we still tipped) Our night was completely ruined by the way Javi's waitstaff treated my wife. Hopefully, Javi's will make this right. Great atmosphere but won't be back if this is how they treat customers. read more

Great place. I had the Salmon with steamed cabbage veggie mixed and mashed potatoes It was awesome read more

This is by far one of the best Mexican restaurants in the Tyler area. They have meals to go, which heat up well. They also have indoor/outdoor areas. The patio is setup so quaint. Very inviting. The food and drinks are top notch. Definitely recommend. read more

We've been going to Javi's since it opened. Food is excellent and service is fast. Love the Sunrise Enchiladas and the Enchiladas Verde. Great indoor and outdoor space. Take out is timely as well. Highly recommend Javi's. read more

Ordered a meal here a couple months back and the meat portion was mostly gristle and fat -- inedible. They did take the charge off the ticket since I didn't eat it. My wife enjoyed her meal. read more

The food was great as always at Javi's. The service was not that great and it took way to long to get our food. We always waited 10 minutes to even get a waiter to our table. The manager/supervisor came over and offered a free appetizer for our wait which was very kind. The atmosphere was very positive as always and is happy and it's always clean. I overall was not as impressed with the service this time. read more

A perfect evening. It was our first visit. We sat on the porch next to the man-made pond and fountain. The food was outstanding. We both had vegetarian dishes (though we're not vegetarians); my wife had the veggie fajitas and I had the vegetarian tacos. The fajitas were good, but the tacos were outstanding. We capped it off by splitting a serving of hot apple pie. So delicious. We'll be back! read more

Wow! I am truly blown away. I had somehow, tragically, missed on going to Javi's for years even though I pass by this place multiple times a week. That's a shame. This place serves the best Tex-Mex I've been had. I hate typing on my phone, so I'll cut this short for now, but I'll be back - again and again. The Carne Asada fajitas are freakin' awesome! The shrimp cocktail...get it! I'm in awe of the service, love the atmosphere and decor, and can't wait to have a date night there so I can tap into the tequila tap! read more

One of our favorites in Tyler. Never disappoints. Kudos to our server Amy. Super friendly! Thanks!

I went to a new restaurant in Tyler while at a horse show. It was a beautiful place on a little lake on the south side of town. The atmosphere was sophisticated and elegant. The staff was top notch and the service was excellent. The owner even stopped by the table to make sure everything was up to his standards which was obviously very high. We started with a delicious shrimp cocktail and queso blanco. For dinner i had the carne asada which was also scrumptious. The entire experience and atmosphere was unsurpassed in any city. Being from Dallas, I did not expect such a sophisticated dining experience in a smaller town but was overwhelmed at the outstanding food, service and experience. A must see when in Tyler or East Texas. Well done! read more

My wife and I had dinner here last night and we were completely satisfied by the whole experience. Great drinks that came out quick from the bar, even on a packed Saturday night, excellent service from our waiter (Ramiro I think), and delicious food. The chile relleno and tomatillo enchiladas are great. The space has been tastefully remodeled into a modern Tex-Mex look since it was Jul's. We will definitely be back. read more

There are limited dining options in Chandler so I understand why this place is popular. Even though we did curbside, the ambiance looked fun! The food was just...mediocre. We're used to yummy Tex mex being in Dallas. Javi's, while having super nice staff and cute ambiance, just lacks in the food dept. it lacked flavor and was just sort of basic. Would not return. read more

The service here was amazing. I was skeptical at first because of some previous reviews I saw, but they did not disappoint. The size and environment was roomy. There was plenty of elbow room. The food was really great as well. We started with chips and salsa like everywhere else. They brought out 2 different salsas, one was a half green and half red salsa, and a fire roasted tomato salsa. The green salsa and the fire roasted was a amazing. The red salsa was similar to a lot around town. We got an order of the quest blanco and I must same I am quite the quest snob. It. Was. Amazing! One of the best queso I've had. We got two entrees. The combo fajitas with Carne Asada and Peruvian shrimp. The second was the Tex-Mex platter. Everything was so good. We plan to frequent this establishment and try the drinks and cocktails next time. read more

Was disappointed with the crunchy chicken enchiladas. Chips were too salty. No paper products in women's restroom, and husband stated that the men's was nasty. read more

I have been here five or six times now and the service has always been great. The food is usually very good but tonight was the exception. I ordered the Ernie's chicken and the menu should have read chicken jerky. It is very obvious that they cook the chicken yesterday or this morning and then warmed it this evening. This is not the way to cook or serve your customers. If you want to represent yourself as a good restaurant. I had to request some queso or sauce just to eat the cardboard chicken. The rice was also lukewarm at best. Stop cutting corners in their kitchen and get back to the fundamentals. read more

Came with group of ladies on a Sunday afternoon. The waiter was cool, but struggling at times. The salsas didn't have much flavor, and didn't continue eating. The guacamole was good, but needed a little salt. I ordered the chicken sunset enchiladas and they were fabulous, and the price was excellent!! The rice was good, but the beans needed a little more flavor. I will be back! read more

Visiting from Arizona. Daughter introduced us to Javi's and Chile relleno was amazing. We will be back for sure!

This was our first visit here and won't be our last. From the time we walked in the door until we left every staff member was attentive and genuinely friendly. Restaurant is beautiful, wonderful inside, and the best patio dining in Tyler. The food and drinks were beyond expectations. The prices are good for the quality of this place. Our server, Shaylee, was just the best. Highly recommend. read more

So last night we had dinner with family and, went and tried Javi's. To say the least it was not a great experience being a brand new restaurant I expected more.  When arriving the parking was the first thing we noticed to be bad but it can be over looked.   So we go in and have a party of 8 we finally got sat and, it took almost 30-45 mins to get drinks on the table.  By this time still no chips and salsa and a waiter who looked over worked and tired.  Thinking to myself man does my staff look like that and yes I'm a low volume store they shouldn't but at times do  because they don't make the money they could make at a higher volume store so they work way more then most.  But to say the least customer service should still be the first thing any store should have.  So then the waiter comes over another 20 mins later and we aren't looking at time but again we are noticing the long periods.  He looks at us and says oh they said you guys had already ordered well first and for most how did we do that with you being our waiter and all he could say is what can I get you.   We all placed our order by this time all the tables around us have stated to leave and food comes out one plate at a time and not all together which was odd to me.  Mind you my drink never stayed full not one time and the managers keep walking around never once greeting tables nor asking to see if we needed refills which was just strange to me.  She finally asked me if I needed a refill I said yes ma'am that would be great she rolled her eyes and said okay and then another sever comes by asking did I need a refill got it done and she came back and rudely told me did I get what I needed I replied yes ma'am.   That part wasn't the best part because you know we had just been discussing bathrooms and let me tell you I walked into the ladies room to finish the visit and, it was nasty pee on the seats in all stalls , toilet paper rolls empty in all stalls , and paper and trash every we're.  This visit was one that I was showed that customer service, bathroom etiquette, or just all around service wasn't their and makes me want to work harder as a restaurant manager myself to make sure I never give a review like I'm giving now. read more

Pretty impressed, arrived around 5:45 place was packed but we waited under 25 mins to be seated. My adult beverage was called Size 00, a must have if you prefer skinny alternative. It was light and refreshing. Our entrees were Robertos burritos, Javi's Tacos, Chicken fajitas and a child's taco plate. Everyone loved their selections and the green rice that came with Javi's Tacos was excellent. Did I mention the fresh hot complimentary chips and salsas. Fabulous!! Wonderful server Briana was on the ball and always smiling even though they were slammed with customers. We were also greeted by Manager Angie who was helping out with running food orders, filling water glasses and making sure everyone was enjoying their experience. Last but not least, Tres Leches cake was the icing on the cake. Wishing this new eatery best of luck and plan to return upon our next trip from New Orleans. read more

We were there for a party in the private room by patio. Ants everywhere on tables and in windows. The queso salsa and quacamole were really good. Chicken fajitas much better than beef. Great location great patio and great service. read more

Their food tastes great. The menu is limited. They take pride in their cocktails. The service is good. They are very attentive to the needs of the customers. The ambience of the restaurant is beautiful. There's a small pond next to the restaurant which make outdoor dining great in warm weather. The cost of the meals are appropriate for the size. read more

Fajitas had a weird taste , I did not like the taste. It wasn't a good experience for me

Such a wonderful addition to Tyler but especially this area of town. Such a warm and inviting atmosphere with a fantastic staff that cannot wait to serve you. It's newly opened. Many times people forget that the staff is still working out kinks and learning the ropes. In which case, if you've gone and experienced anything less than stellar believe me that will not be the case when you return again. We've been many times since they opened and the staff is already used to our preferences! Love a big city feel but with small town hospitality. Mico margarita is always on point, as is the jalapeño. Carne asada to die for and delicious queso Blanco is always a win! Can't wait to enjoy the patio on a warmer spring day! It's our new hang out! read more

Wow just wow! Best TEX/MEX in Tyler,TX. The El Mico Taxi is my new favorite drink! Sangria is made in house. Salsa and chips are perfect. Ordered a Chile relleno, and the steak that it's so beautifully topped with was SO tender and juicy. Yum! Flour tortillas are just like my MIL's! I took my hubby's last one lol (he wasn't too thrilled with me). The rice both green and traditional are the bomb.com. It's our new favorite spot! read more

Went there on a Saturday for lunch. Wanted outside seating and was told there was a wait. However, there were a few open tables and so we asked again and we were told due to Covid sociaL distancing we could not sit out there till a table came available. (The real story from the manager was they were short servers). So, next option because we were hungry was to sit in the bar area. Plenty of seats and we asked and again told no that they needed space between tables for social distancing. but we could sit right at bar. Of course no social distancing at bar, and within minutes we noticed all tables were filled. Ummm! What just happened. Service was horrible even at bar at first. We were first one's at the bar but received no acknowledgement till I spoke up after other people sat down and were served. I get it that times are tough and it is hard finding employees but management needs to step it up and be present and guiding your employees & making sure that service is up to par especially in a newer establishment like Javi's. I will say that the inside dining I had on a previous occasion the service was stellar. Hopefully the lobby greeters get better at staying consistent if they do have the "social distance going on between tables" & bar service learns to just acknowledge someone as soon as they sit down right in front of you at the bar. Your tips might be greater with better service. read more

I went to lunch with friends, and we were all impressed with the new look of the previously on restaurant. The staff was so friendly and our waitress was very attentive. We all ordered margaritas that were bland and seemed to have almost no tequila. Next time I will order a beer. The queso was very creamy and yummy. My enchilada was the same as most Mexican restaurants, and I would order it again. Both of my friend had the soft tortillas that they enjoyed. I was holding off on my review because Javi's has a large room for private parties that a group of 40 or so that my hubby and I are a part of booked it for the end of March. We had to cancel do to the Coronavirus. read more

Excellent food, service and Margaritas. Reservations are recommended on weekends. They get busy.

I don't understand the hype about Javi's. The consumer is definitely paying for the atmosphere. The food was moderate. The service was ok, but I would rather spend my money at Mercado's or Fuzzy's. read more

Wow! Busy for a Monday night. The service was simply excellent. The food was flavorful, serving was generous and it was reasonable pricing. Had Javier's tacos and the Javier's taxi drink. All of it was great, already planning a return visit and have a new favorite place to bring company. Ambiance was modern, clean. Again, service was friendly and efficient. read more
