I had a big order today for my daughters second birthday. How ordered one of those big giant donuts instead of buying a cake and a whole bunch of assorted ones that was custom With different toppings. They did an amazing job and on top of that everything taste delicious. On a sidenote their Caramel macchiato was one of the best I ever had. read more

When I tell you they have the best donuts, there is no lie! Also, DONUT CAKE....DONUT CAKE!!!!! We have ordered a donut cake for my daughter for about the last 4 birthdays and have NEVER BEEN disappointed. Had one this last weekend and it was moist, fluffy, dense with a small crispness outside. All guest were floored when they saw it and then ate it! Same reaction every time....DELICIOUS. Had a few dozen donuts on the side due to the large party and the donuts matched the cake in decoration and taste. Honestly never knew glazed donuts could taste so good. You never know what to expect when you go to Java Time Donuts. I have been there at ten in the morning and they were out of donuts. How can a donut place be out of donuts at ten in the morning? I have also been there when the display case was full at ten in the morning. I like that they have a large variety of healthy muffins as well as donuts (I wish they had bacon cheddar muffins). They have a large selection of different flavors of coffee and the place is clean and bright with a fair amount of seating for a donut shop. The doughnuts... oh yeah the doughnuts! They have a large variety and though they are not the best doughnuts I have ever had, but they are far from the worse. My co-worker, Lynne W. introduced me to their cream puff. They were to DIE for!!!!! They were 4 for $1. It's nice, soft, a lil chewy and just melt in your mouth. Plus the powder sugar gets all over your lips and the front of your shirt. Can't hide that from the kids or the hubby. Get it when it's fresh which is early in the morning. Have that w/their java and your day is set. No wonder I could never get rid of my pregnancy weight! I don't just eat 1 cream puff, I have to eat like 12 of them! Cheaper than a two dollar ho with no teeth and tastier than megan fox...this place gets the jedi master class five stars from me for their exceptional goodies. Bust this..we bought a cherry doughnut, a bacon maple doughnut, six jelly filled holes, and 12 regular holes..all for 6 bucks. Everyone talks about their blueberry goodies, but they were all out by the time we got there, around 11AM. The bacon maple doughnut was the best, you taste the saltiness of the bacon, and feel it making you fatter by the second. Then the sugary sweetness of the maple icing puts the nail in your fat coffin. This is not a place for dieters, mind you. So you all you fatties in your Zumba outfits better steer way clear of this place, or else you will be breaking your vows to look good for the beach in no time. read more

I live in Hawaii now and miss the donuts from the mainland, just simple sprinkled cake donuts. I saw this on yelp and told my mom to go here to pick me up some donuts and bring them back to Hawaii. She had told the employee she was bringing them back to Hawaii and they made fresh ones for me so it can be the freshest it can be for flying a day later. They tasted so good and will return to this place when I am back in Sac/Laguna. The sprinkled donut holes could have more sprinkles on it like how Winchel's did it. The oreo one is good but wish they did the toppings on the smaller cake version. I would still reorder these though. All in all, five stars for stellar customer service. read more

VERY DISAPPOINTING! So many people seemed to give such high ratings for this shop so I decided to check it out since I was in town. The donut was eh but service was even WORST! The two asian women (the chubby one and the loud, lemon-faced looking one) were very rude and a bit racist. I stood there waiting to be serviced and yet they acted like they didn't see me even though I was right in front of them. The funny thing is, a non-asian person walked in after I did and the lemon-faced looking one was like "Oh Hi there, how can I help you." They appear to be more attentive to NON-asians. I don't believe I would ever go back there again. read more

Not all donut shops are created equal and rightfully so.... Java time donuts is the best donut shop I have ever been too, not only because they have a bacon donut or a fruit loop donut but because the quality of their customer service and dedication to making the world's best donuts. Don't just take my word for it... Just ask the 15 people that ordered after me in a 10 minute span. Voodoo doughnut in Portland OR has set my standard for donuts so high its not even fair to other donut shops. That being said I did my best to lower my standard and got a maple bacon bar and a kebab of different donut holes. The maple bacon bar was okay, the bacon wasn't that crispy and cut up in pieces instead of a whole slice which is not cool JTD, to be perfectly honest their maple bacon bar was not even top 5 in Sac. The donut holes were just average donut holes. I'm not sure where all the hype came from, both times i've came they have had limited amount of donuts which almost makes me want to give them 1 star. What kind of donut shop makes one batch and stops? A true disappointment. read more

Really bad customer service. This place used to care about their customers. I called in a custom order 5 days in advance and the person who took the order said it will be ready at 6 am. When I got to their store to pick up my order, they said they didn't do the customized donuts because they are busy. No oneneven bothered to call me to give me a heads-up. It was for a birthday so I insisted they do it. I ended up waiting 45 mins. No apologies or anything. Really disappointed.!!!! read more

I came here because my mom wanted "those donuts from that donut shop." This was my first time here and when I walked in I was instantly greeted. The girl who helped me was very patient while I snapped photos to send to my mom and confirmed and re-confirmed what she wanted again. I got a dozen sugar donut holes, half a dozen Oreo donut holes, and two regular glazed donuts. All that for only $3.85!! They ask for a minimum of $4 for a debit/credit card use so I threw in another donut hole for 15 cents! The girl was really nice and kept up a conversation with me the whole time I was there. She even helped me again when I had to come BACK in because my mom realized she told me to get the wrong ones. I got a dozen cream puffs with whipped cream. I believe they were about 7 or 8 dollars or not. Not too sure. The Oreo donut holes are amaaaazing. Really soft and fluffy on the inside with Oreo cookie crumbles on the outside. It wasn't overly sweet and I ate about half of it in the car ride home. My sister enjoyed the glazed donuts and I'm more than positive my mom loved the cream puffs because she has had them here before. read more

There are a lot of interesting donuts in this shop, but I've never tried them. They also have a giant donut that you can order which looks pretty cool. I usually come here to get cream puffs. They are so light and airy with the right amount of sweetness and custard. It's always a hit at work and school potlucks. The first time I bought a dozen, they were gone within five minutes. I had to increase my order to three dozen since everyone liked them so much. It's super messy to eat (the powdered sugar gets everywhere) but it's totally worth it. read more

Called Java time about their hard and dry donut holes I purchased. They said they make them daily at 4:30am. She said she could heat them up, thanked me for my feedback and that was it. No offering of a new batch to replace the bad ones. Wow. Never going back to this spot. Too many other places to spend my money. It may have 4 stars but they get a 1 for this situation. read more

Came here around 10am and the place already had a line. The shop is very narrow so it can get a little awkward trying to figure out who is actually ahead of you. I ordered a dozen of mixed donuts and a dozen of glazed donut holes. The donut holes were amazing and will keep me coming back. The other donuts have a thicker consistency than other donut shops I've been to but they aren't too bad. The one thing that was a little annoying was that the line was being held up because someone was ordering donuts over the phone and the guy ahead of me couldn't pay yet because their credit card line used the same line as the phone so everyone had to wait until the phone order was complete. read more

Amazing birthday donut for my lil girl for her big day! I ordered a huge heart shape glaze pink donut with sprinkles with donut holes plus 3 dozen donuts, customer service was wonderful the young gal was helpful and very sweet, I highly recommend ordering donuts from here. Their maple bar with bacon on top in sinfully delicious. Sweet and salty, it hits the spot. Their raspberry puff is a delight as well. My favorite spot for donuts in the Elk Grove area, I always end up getting way more than I can possibly finish. Check out their party size donut, it is ridiculously ginormous. I went in to Java Time on a whim, no expectations really as I love most donuts. But I was not expecting the huge selection from an otherwise inconspicuous corner donut shop! After getting over my awe for the giant, specialty donuts I picked out a few regular sized (but still really good looking) donuts. A maple bacon bar, one whipped cream puff, one custard puff, an Oreo bar, a pink glaze sprinkled, and a good ol' chocolate glazed. The ladies working were beyond nice and after telling them how much I loved donuts and how it was my first time there despite constantly passing the place, she even threw in an extra red velvet donut "just to try it!" I have been here a few times now, mostly to pick up donut holes for an event the next day. They have always been super helpful and easy to work with. I called on a Monday morning to order 12 dozen donut holes to pick up that same day, and it was no problem for them and she did everything above and beyond. Absolutely love coming to my favorite local donut shop weekly (oftentimes more than that)! The staff, especially Sarah, are always pleasant and very friendly. The donuts are always stocked full and the environment is clean and tidy as well. My favorite order consists of hot French toast coffee with an add shot of espresso along with Oreo donut holes or the occasional chocolate chip muffin. Never am disappointed here! It's really not that hard to deliver a simple request but they don't care about their returning, long-time customers. There are plenty of donut shops around that would treat their customers better. I won't be coming back. Thank you for making my daughters' morning experience the worst yet & showing them how not to serve customers. I've been in the service/restaurant industry for 20+ years, there is definitely a lack of service here. Prices have gone up as well. Hope they know there are a lot of choices to get donuts, we chose to go there, well not anymore.

I wanted to write a review simply for the fact that you really don't find customer service like this anymore. I needed a donut cake for a gender reveal party and Cindy was the best! She helped me plan out how to make it possible and what designs would work, etc. in the end we decided on a bottle filled with the custard color matching the gender of my niece or nephew to be. Unfortunately, the baby did not want to cooperate at the time of the appointments, etc, so we ended up utilizing the credits for another donut cake. Once again, Cindy was completely understanding and worked with me. I would highly recommend this shop to anyone looking for a sweet treat, whether it be a donut or a donut cake. This is the best donut shop in the Elk Grove Area. I like to get the white frosting sprinkle donut. The holes are only ok. I also like that they have special donuts like the fruit loop donut. Good location too. Easy to park and walk across the stone pathway to enter the place. The service is pretty good. Never have to wait more than a minute. Donuts are fresh which is hard to find. I only wish they sold bagels because no one sells bagels, real toasted bagels in the whole Elk Grove area! Donuts and Bagels would probably put their biz over the edge. read more
