This has been one of my favorite donut shops ever since I was little, the mom is super nice to me whenever I come in with the kiddos and they get so happy! I haven't been here in a couple months and saw that they had new freeze dried candies which the kids went CRAY CRAY for! All the sales go to a local highschool which is super neat! Today I got my usual half dozen with half sugar and half glazed, yall KNOW that these are the best. The skittles were super interesting because I've never seen these candies in a bakery shop before. The place looks the same since I was in junior high (c/o 2019!!). If you're in the area or on a road trip trying places, I would highly recommend this place as it truly is one of a kind. Ohhhhh my god, this is the second donut shop I've been to this morning that says it's open at 5 but when I pull up, the closed sign is still up. This is getting so frustrating. Donut shops, update your hours on google!!!!!!!!!!! Came back when they were actually open - sign still says closed, and they only serve you through a window like we're criminals. I'm sorry, I know what neighborhood we're in, but no other donut shops (or shops in general) around here are doing that nonsense. I was worried when I ordered my too good to go and saw the yelp reviews. At the end, who cares? Give it a try. Definitely worth the try, our donuts came in a medium sized box with many assorted donuts. They were dipped very nicely, not too sweet, and not too oily compared to other places. If you are into super sweet donuts, superior donuts may not be sweet enough for you. But if you want your sweetness just right, they really get the job done. It is however not in the best part of the town, but I grew up here and I'm used to areas like these. Not only that, there's a police station 2 minutes away. I love the variety of donuts they have here! Their prices are very fair. I went and bought a dozen donuts for just above $12 dollars so pretty cheap for the quality of donut in my opinion. They always throw in an extra donut too when I've gone! The neighborhood may be kinda sketch but it's worth it if you're craving a nice fresh donut. They do accept card as well but for a small fee. I'm currently compiling a list. My personal donut list. Rolling around on two wheels has never made our adventures more fun. Sure, we get a lot of exercise and whatever I eat for the rest of the day cross cancels the calories burnt all more morning. But what I do enjoy, are the little nooks and crannies housing little gems known to some as the savior of working men. Apparently, this use to be an old Winchell's, as so indicated by the fading yellow and brown plastic swinging furniture inside and old donut posters hanging off the walls. The rest, however, has gone local. A group of local laborers sat, facing the windows, speaking Spanish, over cups of coffee and donuts. I purchased a cake donut with vanilla glaze and rainbow sprinkles. My brother had his usual apple fritter, which I found slightly oil ridden. We also ordered coffee each, my bill settling itself under $2. There is something pleasantly calming about munching on a donut with the foreign chatter continued to grow and wrap around us. I prefer it anyways. It makes for an enhanced morning. Donuts galore. Donut holes. Fruit filled donuts. Bear claws. Cinnamon puffs. Cake donuts. Old Fashioned. Buttermilk. You name it, they have it here. On top of the list, they also have an acceptable toilet on premise. I would advise utilizing the paper towels when opening the doors and operating the levers. Along the walls are handmade signs notifying the public that alcoholic beverages are not allowed, especially a certain type of wine and Bud. My brother made fun of me since I had never ever heard of T Bird Wine. What the hell is T Bird Wine? And who the hell brings liquor into a donut shop? This place has amazing donuts! As a grown man, I usually don't pull out my phone to take a piture of my food, but as I waited, and looked at these fresh beautiful donuts, I had to. They don't just make good donuts, but they were in there at 4am making these pieces of art. If you like good fresh donuts, make sure to get there early, because they go quick. It looked to me like they are family owned, so they actually put care in to their product. You won't get that from Dunkin' or Krispy. All I have to say about this donut spot is EWWWW!! It's not in the best location, however that isn't its biggest downfall. Their donuts are Old and Hard. I was excited to find a 24 hour donut spot & was willing to drive out to a not so good area but I should have just waited another hour to go to my local donut bakery. They only accept cash after 9 or 10 pm. Which you would think it would be the other way around. They're open 24 hours but the shelf's aren't even fully stocked. They have very limited selection. Superior Donuts really lives up to its name! I went to grab a dozen doughnuts and stopped by two other shops before coming here. The other places barely had any doughnuts or pastries left since it was almost noon. Luckily for me, I decided to stop by Superior and was pleasantly surprised by the large selection of doughnuts and pasties of all varieties. Not only that, they were fresh too! They accept larger bills (but they aren't necessary because the prices are lower than most doughnut shops nowadays). They even threw in a few jelly filled doughnut holes for free! They have the same, standard selection, and a really sweet family operation (I think the younger daughter helped me out last time). The fritter (my standard bearer) was a little on the soggy side, though I'm not sure if it was from being out for longer than if I'd come earlier or if it was just soggier. The donuts here always taste fresher than any other donut shops I go to, which is sadly way more than most. The place is usually moderately busy but you get greeted warmly and served within minutes if not seconds. They also have a drive thru/walk up window, which is fantastic. My only problem is that they are cash only. I understand that donuts are a quick in-and-out type thing, but c'mon. It's the 21st century and people carry less and less cash every day. I've found myself having to stop at the ATM just to get cash to stop here on the way to work. Pretty inconvenient. Went out of the way to get to Superior Donuts since it was one of the few that were open late that Friday night. Not sure what I was thinking but I imagined a cleaner, more modern joint. Pulled up to this little rickety shop in a poorly lit parking lot. No biggie; I'll let the donuts speak for themselves. They didn't really speak. It was more of a whisper. They weren't horrible, and maybe if I were to come here when they were fresh, I'd have a more enjoyable experience. The dough in the middle was soft but the outside and frosting wasn't very fresh. Great selection, considering I'm an all-chocolate kind of guy. My only problem is that sometimes they close, in the evening, and are open after ten, other nights. I can't figure it out; I go by there most days and have found there's no telling if they'll be open. They are right down the street from the local Yum-Yum, where the prices are nearly double (95 cents versus a dollar ninety-nine.), at 12th Avenue.
