    Seasonal Drink - Arnold Palmer
    Kat V.

The Mini doughnuts were so good and just melted in your mouth! This place is a bit small, but the desserts come out quick. I will say that their Arnold Palmer wasn't the best, but the doughnuts are addictive!

10/10!! Visited at 10pm on a Friday evening and was serviced by the owner. He was very polite and welcoming. Explained his menu and told us a little background of his store. The doughnuts were so fresh, soft and comforting. Will definitely be back and would recommend!

After some savory lunch, I needed something Sweet. At that moment, I locked eyes with the words, "Mad Hatter" (mind you I'm a huge Alice in Wonderland fan). Reached the window/opening of the establishment and was greeted with wonderful service, with smiles, happiness and ready to assist. A+++ The smell and ambiance of the joint was deliciously delightful. Clean, clear menu and well organized and informed. Now onto the food item: I had the Mini cute size doughnuts! OG style. Freshly baked, warm, crispy outer with such an airy fluffy inside. The glaze was just sweet enough and the right amount to not over soak them in sugar. My Oh My, now this hit the sweet spot. I am definitely recommending this unique tasty dough'nuts! AND if I return to Sacramento, I will definitely be back to try the rest of the items on the menu. Overall Experience: A++++

Great little place to cure your ice cream and donut cravings. Bing cherry ice cream on a waffle cone was awesome, and donuts are hot and made to order. Yum!

A little ice cream, donut, and drinks shop next to the railroad museum in old town. They serve Gunther's ice cream! They have a ton of flavors and I got the Taro, which was pretty good! Rich ube flavor but didn't taste overly sweet. I also got a fresh lemonade for $5, which wasn't bad too, hits the spot on a hot day!

Umami!! Hot, crisp, soft and light. These mini donuts are umami in a bite!!! This is the third time I've been here and it's my go to snack when I'm walking around old sac. Not only is the donuts delicious , but the ice cream is silky smooth and packed with flavor. This quaint on-the-go dessert shop is worth the wait. Don't be discouraged if there is a long line, there's a reason :) -numerous ice cream flavors -plenty of donut options with different flavors I.e cinnamon, glazed, regular etc -they also sale hot dogs Other: -$$ -takes almost any card and has tap to pay -drinks (water, soda, etc) -no bathrooms -parking limited in old sac - park in parking lots

Decided to try the doughnuts and the doughnuts that me and my mom got were really good. Will be coming back again. The owner was really nice.

Cool little drop in ice cream place after a day chasing the little guy around the railroad museum. Very friendly staff, and the lemon freeze was amazing. Definitely a place to cool off when it's hot out!

I've stopped by this donut shop on a few occasions and noticed they no longer sell "donut holes" but instead they are called "knots". Basically fried dough in the shape of a knot avail in different flavors. The OG glaze and powdered flavors were very sweet but so good! The knots are fried to a crisp, with a chewy texture. There is a cashier that sits at the open window that will take your order and answer any questions you have about their donuts, she's helpful and greeted us with a smile. The ambiance is a fast food vibe as it's just an order window for food to go with a bench out front offering limited seating. There is no inside seating. Good place to stop by for tasty donut knots if you're strolling old sac.

Junior scoop is big and only $3. Lovely treat on a hot day. Right next to the Railroad Museum. Rocky Road was excellent and my son's strawberry had real chunks. They serve Gunther's.

Responded to your comment you did not run out of validations. I got my validation. I just had to spend $20 to get it. All the other shops in the area you only have to spend $5 to get a validation

I received a full refund for my order and paid in cash.

Excellent home made donuts. When I arrived; I was surprised that she didn't have my order. Please be advised. This location is not able to get web orders. The sad part is that I was able to place the order online. However when I got there they didn't have any record of the order or payment. I found out the resturant is not set up to receive the online orders. I showed her my order on my phone. She made a fresh order for me. They were delicious. Wonderful space on the board walk to sit and watch people walk by.

Mini donuts (32) doesn't look like it though

Yes it was - Danny apparently "retired" and the new owner seems very friendly. We were able to get new types of donuts (I really liked them) and the former kind (my wife loves these).

The moment you walk in, the retro 1950s diner ambience immediately transports you back to classic Americana dessert culture. They've apparently been serving Sacramento for over 37 years! - Hot Fudge Sundae -- made with Gunther's vanilla & chocolate ice cream, topped with whipped cream, pralines, and a candied cherry; beautifully presented with warm hot fudge drizzled all over - Lemon Raspberry Cake -- moist sponge cake layered with lemon, raspberry, and whipped cream; balanced sweetness with buttercream-coated sides The red booth seating and vintage Americana decor really complete the nostalgic vibe. Service was friendly and quick, and the overall ambience was cozy, retro, and diner-themed. Rick's Dessert Diner definitely feels one-of-a-kind, I'll have to stop by again next time I'm passing through Sacramento.

Rick's was the only place open late that had actual desserts. I mainly ate their cakes. They looked amazing. But I really did not enjoy them. Too dry. Just not good, compared to other bakeries in town. Over the years, Rick's remained a Sacramento staple, and when they opened up their new location in Midtown, the dessert community welcomed them back and embraced their sweet offerings, bigger space, and late night hours. I never went til just a couple weeks ago. Around 9pm on a Friday night I was craving banana cream pie and the husband wanted cherry pie. On Yelp search, Rick's came up as the top choice that was open. So we went and stood in the long line. The place was crowded and loud. Lively and busy vibe. Line moved at a good pace and the staff helping were nice but hurried. So we took our lil pies to go. We both liked our chosen pies. Now I know what to order if I go back to Rick's. Pies over cakes. Every time.

They have a great selection of Gunther's ice cream so you really can't go wrong with a flavor. The warm donut paired perfectly with the cold, creamy ice cream, and the coffee flavor worked so well with it all together. It's a small dessert ice cream parlor who is known for their ice cream donut which you can customize. We visited on a Saturday afternoon and it wasn't busy. The guy behind the counter was very helpful and explained everything about their menu and what they are known for. They do have a pretty limited ice cream flavor but given they are a small ice cream parlor I guess this is understandable. Anyways, me and my cousin got the salted caramel and cookies and cream donut and vanilla. So they actually put the ice cream in the donut then they bake it and then put powder sugar on top of it. You have an option between regular donut and glazed and we chose the regular since we didn't want it to be sweet. It's a good take on dessert but can be a little messy because of all the powdered sugar. The ice cream is good but nothing out of the ordinary. It was a good stop for a quick dessert.
