Came in on a Wednesday evening around 6pm and they had cooked food for grab and go - adobo (freshly made), pork menudo, ginataang munggo, and pinkbet. Also grabbed some pork siopao since I've had a craving for Ma Mon Luk (iykyk), in which I asked for siopao sauce, but kuya manong said it's not needed. He was not wrong! It was an asado (pulled pork) siopao and it was moist, well seasoned, saucy, and tender after resteaming in the microwave. I ordered a box of 16 spanish roll, which came out fast and fresh. It took me a while to finally visit Ginelle's Bakery after moving to Elk Grove, but I've been here a few times over the past year, and every visit has been a great experience. It's a small, Filipino family-owned bakery best known for their Spanish rolls, along with a variety of other Filipino pastries and a small section of Filipino goods. I once requested a large order of ube jam, and Noel was kind enough to accommodate my order. I didn't realize the price was on the higher end ($17 each) until pickup, which I should have asked about beforehand. That said, the quality and freshness were evident. I used it for baking and was satisfied, though others may find the price a bit high. I recently ordered a dozen Spanish rolls, and they were fresh and hot. Personally, I would have preferred them to be slightly sweeter, but they were still warm, flaky, and airy and my kids really enjoyed them. Stopped by Ginelle's bakery today for the first time and I was pleasantly surprised. I got a snickerdoodle cookie, pork adobo roll, ham & cheese croissant, and strawberry cream cheese croissant and the total was only $11. I have been coming here for several years now for my Filipino food catering and Filipino pastry needs. If you didn't know they can do catering trays of Filipino food, now you do! I always get trays of their pancit bihon and lumpia, and you get fresh homemade quality for an affordable price (I definitely prefer it to the other Filipino place off Franklin and Laguna. Ginelle's lumpia in particular is bigger and better). On the pastry side, I've tried a little bit of everything - Spanish bread, ensaymada, siopao, pandesal, cookies, ube roll, macarons, empanadas - and they are all yummy homemade quality as well. small family owned bakery. first time coming here and i got the ube roll and the hotdog bun thing. honestly i thought these were both just alright. ube roll just had a really subtle flavor and wish it was slightly more sweet tbh. bread of it was really soft tho. the hotdog thing was alright too. i liked how the sweet bread complemented the savory glizz. but ive def had better hotdog buns before. the interior is def very small and cozy which is pretty cool. they even have an open microwave for yall to heat up ur pastries. the man who took care of me at the register was very nice too. but i think the pastries are just meh read more

When you walk in, there's an odor that smells like gas. This little store seems to have a variety of bakery items and hot foods. I went in to purchase some Spanish bread. There's a difference between senorita bread and Spanish bread. Spanish bread has a dry crust. It used to taste good but the last few times, it doesn't taste the same. It's bigger and longer than seniorita bread. Not sure if I would return again. read more

We came for the BBQ pork bun and Seniorita bread. There's a sign that says they call seniorita bread something else but it's similar. It was a little too buttery for me. We called ahead to see if they had the baked BBq buns. They were super nice on the phone and asked if I wanted them to put 4 aside to pick up since there was only 6 left. We got them home and warmed them up. It was disappointing to find there was very little meat and sauce. There are many other pastries we will try in the future. read more

This place is awesome!! Just driving past and decided to stop in to give them a try. I got a vanilla cream roll, some purple cookies that I can't think of the name and a coconut roll. All were tasty! My favorite was the coconut roll. It had butter and sugar on top of it but wasn't overly sweet at all. The vanilla cream roll didn't have cream on the inside like I thought it would, but it was still very good, just not sweet. The cookies were soft on the inside and just a little crispy on the outside, just how I like them! They put powder sugar on top of them. Everything was very good and not to sweet. I like how everything was individually wrapped. When driving back that way, I will for sure stop and try something new from here. read more

I usually prefer the bakery on Mack road for señorita bread, but this bakery was closer to me. Maybe I've been spoiled by the other bakery due to their super sweet, freshly baked, moist señorita bread, because the one they have here sucked. It's dry, bland, and hardly any sweetness on the bottom. The stuff inside the halo halo like beans and jello, was extremely soft, like it's been sitting out for a while or it's too old to be eaten. I've had my fair share of halo halo, and the one I got here tasted odd. I couldn't even finish it. All the other bakery goods and fridge-rated pre-cooked meals were okay. Had a few items that were too dry. I suggest you going beginning of the week, that's when the items seem to be fresh. read more

Ginelle's Bakery is a great option for a Filipino bakery in Elk Grove if you don't want to drive out to South Sac. They have a variety of freshly baked breads and pastries, drinks, and desserts. We mainly come here whenever we want to get some senorita bread for a potluck or event because it's a short drive from home. It's different than the popular Starbread bakery but still equally delicious to me! They also have filled breads here that make for a yummy quick bite like their adobo pandesal. The leche flan is pretty good here too and has plenty of syrup in it, unlike some places where it can be a little dry. It's a tiny little shop but they've got a ton of options inside - check it out and support so we don't lose our only Filipino bakery in Elk Grove! read more

OMG...what a hidden gem! Just around the corner from my neighborhood is a tiny unassuming strip mall...that has an equally tiny Filipino Bakery. But don't be fooled...they bake some amazing delicacies...like Spanish Rolls (which they declare are not Seniorita Bread, but equally as amazingly soft, buttery and creamy as what you would expect!). They also have Ube baked goods - like Crinkle cookies, bread, and even a morning roll (not sure what it's called but I had it w/coffee in the morning). They have guava bread, bibingka, and more! Walk in and you will immediately be greeted by the heavenly scent of their Spanish Rolls...and I dare you to resist not getting some! Minimum order of Spanish Rolls is 4 pieces (but you can order more - and typically people order by the dozen(s). I'd have posted a pic but I ate mine so fast! I've been here many times, but for some reason always forget to take a picture. Ginelle's is home of the Spanish bread. It is much larger than the rival senorita bread. This is definitely a mom & pop bakery. It's not big at all, but they have found a way to make use of all the space to sell other pastries and dry goods. 3.5 stars for now. Eating at the ramen place next door and decided to check out this bakery. I asked the owner what's the most popular and he said the Spanish bread. Since I was still full from lunch, I decided to buy 6 of these to take home. They are very greasy. I had to use another brown paper bag plus paper towel to soak up the grease which I assume is butter?? All in all, hubby really liked it and he ate most of them and wanted to get more :) Will try other pastries next time we are in the area. read more

It's a small store but with amazing food! The pulled pork buns are amazing! The food is fresh and tasty. There are two TV up on the walls, one playing music and the other playing movies, or at least when I was there. They even sell macaroons either in a box or individual. The individual macaroons are big. They also have smoothies and frappes you can get, if you don't mind waiting a few minutes for them to be made. The frappes are pretty good. Consistently good Spanish rolls :) the rolls are perfect to bring as a snack or gift to family and friends. They are perfect to enjoy together over coffee or tea. I've started coming here on a regular basis especially because it is also so convenient for us - minutes from home. Everyone loves these Spanish rolls. The ube buns are pretty good too. I really wanted to like this place for their Spanish rolls bc I read all the reviews and people rave about it. Starbread bakery is definitely further (south sac) so why not come here and try it out! The first time I came, it was about 3pm on a Wednesday and the Spanish rolls were all sold out. No prob, I understand fresh baked items will do that. Came back a few days later and around 1pm and was able to buy 2 dozen. I don't know what I was expecting but it was nothing out of the ordinary. I do agree with others that these Spanish rolls were much larger and more consistent but they were super greasy and tasted greasy as well. Not impressed. The guy (I'm assuming the owner) was the only one there running the register and the kitchen wasn't very nice. And it almost seemed as if I was a burden to be there ordering baked goods. The shop is fairly small and cluttered. Did not feel dirty but it didn't feel clean either. And LOTS of signs all over the place. I'm going to pass on this place. This review is based solely on the señorita bread. The bread is so soft, fluffy, and perfectly sweetened. Since finding this place my daughter has requested to come in every Saturday. At her request we order 20 rolls. We enjoy the bread over the weekend and still have left over to eat on Monday and Tuesday. Gone are the days of visiting donut houses. This place has THE BEST Spanish bread in Sacramento. Maybe even the Bay Area. I grew up in Manila and this Spanish bread rivals that which I munched on in bliss during my childhood. So good! Relatively speaking Ginelle's pastries aren't bad, but they are not as good as others I've had from other Filipino bakeries, especially from the Bay Area. I'm a pastry fiend so I was so happy to find Ginelle's so close to home. I tried them a few times when I first moved here and was not impressed. I'd rather drive farther to South Sac to get better quality pastries. I came back again recently and they've really cleaned up the inside of their store. It seemed like it was really cluttered in the past. This time it was more organized and items were tagged. They also offered more baked pastry options, which made me so happy. I got the chicken empanada, cream bread loaf and hot dog. I got home and was pretty disappointed. The empanada crust was not flaky or tasty. The filling seemed a bit dry also. The cream bread seemed like it was placed in the packaging before it had properly cooled or maybe it was not stored correctly because the bottom of the loaf seemed soggy. I even toasted it a bit, but it didn't help. Once again, the bread was not very flavorful. I gave the hot dog to my friend and she said it was ok. I'm really disappointed because I would go there everyday if they only had quality baked goods. read more
