I wasn't as enamored with this spot as all the reviews. I went on a quieter Sunday morning, yet the wait was still long for an avocado toast. I'm assuming limited cooks back in the kitchen. My avocado toast while not super pricey was pretty underwhelming. Granted, it was to-go, but the bread was average, and maybe not as quite toasted as it should have been. The avocado was more a salty guac. It was topped with an egg and came with potatoes or side greens. I sadly didn't finish it as overall, just was a miss. There is something about this place that is so comforting. The lattes are so delicious and when you sit here and sip on one, it's satisfying. Wonderful quaint Mexican cafe serving up delicious brunch staples, cute conchas, and GARGANTUAN lattes. The latte was MASSIVE. Holy mother **** this thing was the size of a newborn child and only $7 (unlike a newborn child). Just for the value of this drink alone makes the trip out worth it. Exiting the 99 on Elk Grove blvd, this place is easy find in a small plaza just off of the freeway for a quick stop and a light lunch. The staff is nice and quick. They took my order for a Cuban sandwich with salad and my dulce de leche latte. The sandwich was as expect for a traditional Cuban sandwich. The bread soft and the meat was tender. The mustard wasn't heavy so it missed that acidic note, but still delicious. The salad however, simple, but the dressing was to die for! I honestly enjoyed the salad more than I did the sandwich lol. Came here and tried the chai and dulce de leche waffle. The chai was different than traditional chai but it still was good. It actually came hot and stayed hot as I chatted with my friend. I really enjoy Xulo Coffee Bar's Mojito latte (Xulo Mojito). If you like mint, this drink is delicious. The layer of cream on the top is such a nice addition to the drink too. (This drink is sweet, but I don't think it's overly so in my opinion.) This business has been in Elk Grove for a while, but I just never stopped by since their specialty drinks never called out to me....I'm not sure it previously missed this menu item or if they recently added it, but this has become my top place for coffee in EG (solely because of the Xula Mojito). We love coming here! The breakfast sandwich and the breakfast burrito have our hearts. Definitely get the potatoes on the side. I don't even know what the spring greens look like, because the potatoes have us fully obsessed. My husband loves the Mexican mocha! I went here on July 11th to get a little morning pick me up after I had finished my workout class. I wanted a little something small and luckily they had a good amount of their small conchas still available. This was my second time going to Xulo Coffee bar, and the quality of the coffee beverages and food was just as good. The little Concha, which I got heated up, was so soft on the parts that did not have the sugar on top. The bread was slightly sweet and the flavor of the horchata on top was perfect. I called that out because it paired really well with the cold brew coffee that I got that had Mexican chocolate in it. The two flavors really complemented each other and I was happy with the combination. The individual that took my order was really awesome I told him I was torn between two of the drinks and he let me know that the cold brew is definitely a favorite regarding the patrons that typically come in. Really happy that I went with that suggestion. Also why I was there the space is very welcoming. There was different age levels of folks in there having conversations, doing work, playing games on their phones together. Also there was some music being played in the background that was just light enough to hear but was not interrupting anyone's conversations. I opted for a cookies n crème tortuga, because it was so dang cute. Their menu had breakfast burritos and tacos, a breaky sando, chilaquiles, avocado toast, an açaí bowl, a few different waffles, pancakes, French toast, and a couple panini and sandwich choices. A good blend of breakfast and lunch options. Plus, all the coffee and a few pastry offerings too. THEY HAVE SOY MILK! I snagged a soy iced latte to help wash down my Turkey Sando: Turkey, White Cheddar, Greens, Tomato, Bacon, & Avocado. Spicy Mustard on the side, which was not spicy at all. Seemed more like honey mustard. It also came with a side of "crazy" chips...I thinks that's what they called them. It was all okay, nothing amazing and nothing bad. Just average, but I'm grateful to have been able to order a drink with soy milk! There was a decent amount of seating for how small the coffee shop is. The staff working were really kind and helpful too. There was a wide range of patrons, from families to friends hanging out. One of my fav coffee spots in Elk Grove. The mini concha's and tortuga breads are so so cute and eye catching. The flavor too is really good. They are light and crumbly just how they should be. Love that they have a variety of flavors for them too and sometimes have seasonal ones. The latte was good, surprisingly not too sweet despite being dulce de leche flavored. I've had their food before too and it's also so solid. Great variety of options for lunch menu too. Highly recommend checking out if you're going through town. It's pretty much right off the highway. Seen this spot a couple times passing by and decided to finally try it today! Thought it was just a little cafe but you can also eat here and they also have food other than drinks. I just got the dulce de leche latte iced and it was very good, even had condensed milk around the cup I believe which is always good. Also got a tortgua concha and my nephew enjoyed that. They have many colors of it you can choose from. They have many drinks too and I seen they do redbull infusions but only see it after I ordered. Very nice service and friendly and quick here. The turtle concha's they sell here are ADORABLE! It's a little small inside the restaurant and there are not many tables unfortunately. But it has a cute set up. The owner always has a good attitude, so that always makes my experience much better. I came here to meet a friend over coffee. I might have ordered the wrong thing, but I wasn't amazed with the flavor of my drink. I got the Dulce de Leche latte, half sweet and it didn't impress me. I could not really taste the actual espresso, but that could be from the condensed milk in the drink. I sat outside, where there is plenty of seating. Their menu is also on the larger side, and they have food options. Overall, if I had to compare it to other local EG coffee spots, I'd rather go to Tule coffee house just a few miles down the road over Xulo. read more
