Strawberry Waffles
Nevaeh S.

Was looking to try a new brunch spot and came across this one! We stopped by around 11AM and were greeted and seated immediately. The aesthetic seems to be a modern country diner. Had lots of cute illustrations on the walls too! They have such a large menu so it took us awhile to decide but we ended up getting 1 California Benedict w/ English Muffin and no tomatoes - still came with tomatoes though ($17.99) and 1 Strawberry Waffle w/o Walnuts ($16). We thought the waffle would be bigger or come with 2 for the price but it still tasted very good. The strawberries were quite sour though. The benedict was super delicious, I really enjoyed the flavor and texture compared to others I've tried before. I also really enjoyed the potatoes as well as they had a nice crunch to them. Our food did take quite a bit to come out, we waited for about 40 minutes but it was worth the wait. The only thing we were a bit sad about was that they were out of alcohol so we didn't have a chance to try the mimosas but we'll definitely be back again to try more of the menu! They also offer 4% off if you pay in cash, took about $5 off our total.

It's been a while since I've been here. And have forgotten how good their food is . Stopped in for breakfast, and I never knew they had outdoor seating towards the back. It wasn't too busy & was quickly seated. I opted to sit in the back. It was shady & was a beautiful morning, despite it being in the 90s, but in the shade, it's really nice. I ordered the OUR CHICKEN 'N' WAFFLE. It's Hand Breaded Chicken, topped with Apple Slaw, Arugula, Bacon Bits, Ricotta And Orange Mermelade Served on Herb Waffle chicken waffle with salad. Omg! Their pesto dressing is so good!!! I even dipped my chicken and waffles in the dressing. I wanted to ask for extra dressing cause it's just really good. You can see the basil in the dressing. I love sweet and salty so the chicken and the waffle was a perfect mix and I love that it had arugula and the apple slices were perfect. Staff were super friendly. Definitely give this place a try.

We decided to celebrate Mother's Day with brunch at the Waffle Experience on Elk Grove Blvd. It's my first time dining here. The menu had quite a variety of waffle dishes, breakfast, and lunch items. I chose the Joe scramble served with scrambled 3 eggs with hamburger, spinach, mushrooms, and grilled onions with a side of potatoes, and a small slice of toast. It was different from what I expected, and the ingredients didn't seem to blend well. The potatoes tasted old and was hard, and i couldn't seem to get more than one cube at a time to stay on the fork for a decent bite. The hamburger wasn't cooked with the eggs and veggies, but instead, was a broken up hamburger patty tossed with the other ingredients, and it just didn't taste fresh. The others had the waffle combo with eggs and bacon. They enjoyed the waffles. The server was very nice, and we sat outdoors which was a nice open space with plenty of tables. I'm willing to give it a try again, but will definitely try something different.

They have so many options. Service and food was great! I'd definitely come back to try the other waffle dishes.

If you're in for a soggy Waffle Experience, this is the place! I have been here few years ago and remembered it being great, however on my most recent visit, the quality is total opposite of what i remember.

Service was a little slow but food came out pretty quickly. Sac downtown brunch quality so no need to drive down there to have brunch with your friends when you can have that here! Not too much seating as we thought it would be more spacious but it's nice. Worth a try

Came early Sunday morning. Got seated. One server, a few tables. Not even that many to be considered busy or anything because server just standing around. Service was very slow. Food to get to the table was very slow. Server never checked up on us, had empty cups most of the time. Really basic inside. Food itself wasn't bad, but it wasn't anything amazing. I thought I was going to enjoy this place more but I wasn't impressed. Probably won't come back again.

What we had: Sausage and waffles California Benedict Chicken fried steak and eggs They were all yummy and a generous portion than I remember, nothing special in comparison to other brunch place. The gravy on the chicken fried steak had a nice texture (not too thick) and tasty This place has an indoor and outdoor space. We came in on a Saturday at 1130 and the crowd was already dying down and was seated right away. We were greeted and sat by a really sweet host with pink eye lashes. She had this spunk to her that was engaging. I would have just rated this place a 3 and the extra star is for her. Will definitely come again. Must support local!

I cannot believe I have not written a review for here!! The Waffle Experience is near our home. We have had many different menu options from here over the years. Depending on your taste buds, their waffle can be on the sweet dessert side or more on the regular meal scale. We've enjoyed their salads, BLT sandwiches, fruits, pork belly, chicken fried steak and eggs, and much more!! The service has always been awesome!! The owner comes around from time to time. Matter of fact, I ran into him at Costco while shopping, he was very cheerful and said hello!! Overall, it has always been a nice treat for us!!

Angus Burger - Side dish

Everybody loved their food! Mine was the angus burger, I ordered it medium rare but it came out a little more rare than I wanted to. But I was still able to finish it. Seasoned potatoes were really good, well seasoned, some have crispy skin, which I loved. My company enjoyed their orders as well. I saw how well the eggs were cooked on their benedicts! The yolk was oozing. Service was great! Staff were attentive and quick. Some of their prices were okay but I find the straberry waffle a little pricey. Looks like half waffle with strawberry for $15!! But I would still come back. They have other menus that are worth coming back for.

The establishment is under new management. They do not have a liquor license which was a bummer because I was looking forward to a blood Mary. Customer service was excellent. The waitress was very bubbly and attentive. The food was good. I ordered something basic based on the reviews and new ownership. As you can see from the picture my waffle was missing an entire side. Would be open to giving them one more try.

Just want to state I luv waffles. Ambiance Rustic place very clean. Country music playing I like it. There is a counter to eat brings back fond memories of having breakfast with my dad. Service Megan who is owner was very friendly. Her husband is the chef. I asked her to warm my syrup and she did. Waffle Combo Eggs Chicken apple sausage Seasoned potatoes Full of flavor. Will try one of these next time. Chicken fried steak with tenderized ribeye, sauce made in house. Eggs Benedict, sauce made in house, one walked by and wow looks good. Will b back when in area for breakfast.

Do they offer bottomless mimosa specials?

Mimosa carafe and you get full bottle of champagne which serves 4-5 people. I think it's $32

Are they offering outdoor seating with new guidelines for the county?

Yes, they have outdoor seating. It is available anytime the weather is good. Keep in mind, it gets VERY hot out there, so either get there early or avoid it on hot days.

Are you able to make reservations?

Yes just not on weekends. Yelp waitlist works great!

Plenty of parking, and the dining room was clean and inviting. Background music was at a comfortable level for conversation while at the same time giving the place a New Orleans feel. Shout out to Annabella who was working both as hostess and our server. She did an incredible job throughout our visit. Prices are in the upper teens for breakfast. I went with the Dixie Skillet and it was huge! I could have easily split it with someone, but instead I took the other half home for breakfast the next morning. Honestly, I think they could cut the portion back a third, drop the price down to $14, and it would still be a fair value. Here's a tip for families: if you have toddlers who are fine with a half-pancake and maybe some samplings of fruit, potato, or eggs off your plate, choose a side for your meal that they can have. Unlike Black Bear Diner's $5 kids meals, Huckleberry's misses the mark here by charging over $7. Not needing a full breakfast for our granddaughter, we thought ordering just a single piece of French toast was a cheaper alternative, but were charged $6.49 for just that! Not exactly young family wallet friendly. No star deduction for that; just be aware. Bottom line... Come hungry and enjoy!

Food: 2.6 Sunday brunch after church is are normal, but we decide to go back to Huckleberry's since they've been consistent our last few visits. Unfortunately this was one of those days! Greeted at the door and sat immediately, our server came over and took our drink order; at this point we were off to a great start but that's where service stalled. Our server dropped off drinks and took our food order: chicken and waffle stack and a Monté Cristo sandwich with fries. Our food gets dropped off fairly quickly (by food runners). My wife is very simple and doesn't complain about much so I could not assess her meal, but the Monté Cristo was a disappointment, the sandwich was oily which I expected if it was deep fried but it was just oozing clarified butter and the powdered sugar was an afterthought or only for looks. Even the powdered sugar couldn't hide the amount of oil leaking from the bread. The side of French fries were cold and soggy, so I decided to pack them up and refry them at home since I knew my wife would only eat half her meal. And the only time we saw our server after she took our order was when she brought our check and returned our CC. Not sure if we'll return anytime soon...

However, the notification arrived under a different name (Nancy), so I had to double-check whether the table was actually for us. * Our server was pleasant, but service felt scattered. She stopped by to check on us, but before we could respond, she walked over to another table and continued a conversation there. When she returned, she said she would bring water, even though we were already ready to order. It took a while for the water to arrive. * Later, we requested a water refill, which she acknowledged, but it appeared to be forgotten. The refill only came when we were getting ready to leave, at which point she apologized. Although it was a Sunday brunch service, the restaurant did not seem busy enough to fully explain the level of disorganization. Food: Breakfast is available all day. I recommend the Eggs Benedict (weekends only), which comes in several varieties: A. Bacon, spinach, and tomato Benedict B. Traditional ham Benedict C. Cali Benedict with avocado, tomatoes, and arugula D. Smoked Salmon Benedict The Club Sandwich also comes with a generous portion size. A nice convenience is that the restaurant allows split bills, and guests can pay individually through the Toast app.

Saw the same waitress giving checks and to go boxes to nearby customers that were asked after me. Our waitress refused to make eye contact with us. It was extremely awkward for no apparent reason. After some time, I asked another worker for 3 to go boxes instead. She appeared confused. She asked if we already paid, I said yes - I'm waiting for my change and it's been over 15 minutes. She came back after dropping the boxes for me to verify my order ticket, left and came back to give me my $27 change. Her body language appeared flustered and irritated and said some smart comment under her breath. She did not apologize for her or her coworker's behavior/attitude nor acknowledged the $27 tip I gave her for $70 worth of food. That's over 35% worth of tip that was not deserved. Instead, she went to the back, which was directly behind my table to gossip and said very inappropriate comments about me to her coworkers! I was shocked and appalled from all the rude comments she said about me. My family (even my 14 year old daughter) overheard it and was also shocked from the unprofessionalism. This occurred on May 2, 2026. The waitress and the other worker are both young females in their late teens or early twenties. As an ongoing customer for many years, this has never once happened to me. Employees here were always so kind and sweet; but not today. I always supported small family owned business and as a military veteran myself, I always respected that they have family members that also served (pictures of service members posted on their wall). This will be my last time coming here. Those two employees need to be retrained or fired! What a way to ruin my experience with this establishment.

The food was delicious: I had the pear and pecan French toast and my wife had fried green tomatoes egg Benedict which she found super yummy. Their multiple line check-in and wait system where you line up again in a separate line once texted, process is an admittedly a bit clunky but I also surprisingly found it be very efficient. We went in on a Friday mid-morning and the wait for 2 was only about 15-20 minutes. I was blown away by how nice it was on the inside, it's a lot bigger and more modern than you would expect from seeing it on the outside. I'd say there are about roughly 25-35 tables combined inside and outside, so don't be discouraged if the line looks long. I promise it's not the hole in the wall it seems on the outside - it's really roomy on the inside! The food also comes out SUPER quick and the wait staff is super attentive and friendly. The only thing that I didn't quite understand was their pricing on their brewmosa. It's listed as $10 and it includes a PBR and only a splash of OJ but if purchased separately full cup of OJ and a can of PBR they're listed at $4 a piece. So I was a little bit confused and asked the waiter who was equality admittedly puzzled. I ended up buying the separate items and making my own brewmosa. I will say it was quite delicious! Their OJ is freshly squeezed which is a big big plus! Anyways I would highly recommend this place and we hope to be back soon if we find ourselves back in the area!

They put dry ice inside and then pour water into it, making it look like the elephant is blowing smoke out of its trunk. My daughter was completely mesmerized. Watching her reaction was worth the visit all by itself. What I loved most was that it wasn't just a gimmick. The drink was actually good, and the elephant made such a cute keepsake afterward. It felt like getting both a treat and a souvenir. The café itself had a fun atmosphere, and it was one of those places that felt a little different from your typical coffee or tea stop. Helpful tip: If it's your first visit, order one of the drinks served in the elephant. The presentation alone is worth it, especially if you're visiting with kids. This is a fair review…read more Mimi's is definitely a cozy spot with excellent staff, but quality can be hit or miss. I've been dining at Mimi's Cafe for many years, and while it still holds a lot of cozy charm, it's definitely a mixed bag now vs. 15-20 yrs ago. It was 5 stars back then. The Positives... *Friendly Staff: The service here is consistently warm, welcoming, and accommodating. *Cozy Ambience: The restaurant provides a great, comfortable atmosphere that is particularly relaxing and ideal for older adults. Tbh I have an old soul with some social anxiety. So Mimi's became an instant fav in my 20s for the ambience alone. *Great Brunch Selections: The menu offers a fantastic variety that is perfect for breakfast or brunch. It's truly all about the brunch at Mimi's! I don't think they could ever mess up a pancake, waffle, or French toast. *The muffins: Their muffins are unbeatable! So delicious and fresh. The Downsides... *Bland Flavors: Certain classic menu items have become a bit bland and lack the rich, robust taste they had 15 to 20 years ago. *High Price Point: For the quality you receive, the prices feels a bit too high. Plus they have done away with the free bread and carrot cake baskets. Although I believe they may still give you free bread, but you'll have to ask. *Timing Affects Quality: The timing of your order matters immensely. If you order a breakfast item during evening hours, parts of it might arrive tasting old, hard, and reheated. Recommendation:It remains a wonderful place for breakfast and brunch.

French pot roast- Over sauces so you can't taste anything else. Half Chicken- was so old and zero flavor. I was surprised they were not embarrassed to serve us that meal. The soda was completely FLAT. We tipped the server his 20%, not his fault the food was horrid. We will never return. They might be great at just breakfast, I don't know.
