Seating is a rare commodity here, but we got lucky and were able to sit and enjoy our bingsu. We tried the new flavor, "summer melon." So yummy and refreshing! We topped off the fluffy shaved ice concoction with condensed milk and Frosted Flakes. It came with cantaloupe and honeydew melon balls. Aesthetically pleasing and delicious. This is a perfect dessert for the hot weather. The finely shaved ice reminded me of real Hawaiian shaved ice...light and fluffy, like fresh soft snow. Most of their bingsu are $20 but since it's a seasonal special, I believe the summer melon is a few dollars cheaper. It's a generous portion and was enough for 2-3 people to share. We also ended up getting the "banana cinnamon einspanner" ($9), made with Viet coffee, house whipped cream (always get the cream!), banana, and cinnamon powder. Freakin' delicous! We ordered halo halo bingsu and 3 drinks - ube taro deluxe, guava goddess and butterfly white peach lemon sparkling. Halo halo bingsu was just okay. Shaved ice is light and milky and lychee jelly was good but the canned jack fruit wasn't a good match. The ube cream did not even have the slightest hint of ube flavor. Could do without the marshmallow fluff topping. Similar experience with the ube taro deluxe. No hint of ube but the taro was very good. Some other boba places, their drinks are still too sweet even though you have the sweetness level adjusted lower. I shared a banana biscoff shaved snow with a friend. It had layers of shaved snow, biscoff crumbles, sliced banana, and banana syrup, It came with a side of condensed milk. They were out of ice cream, so they offered complimentary toppings, including whipped cream, boba, and flan. I added half of the condensed milk, but that made the dessert too sweet so we couldn't finish. We thought the ice cream would've been a lot better, as we weren't a fan of the whipped cream and boba. The flan was really good, but also too sweet with everything. Overall, I did like the layers of snow with biscoff and bananas, but I would do without the toppings we got and only take ice cream if they have it. I like that they put the condensed milk on the side so you can drizzle to taste. The fruits were fresh and nice pairing with the intensity of matcha flavor. The Ube Sesame was also aesthetic and refreshing. They don't skimp on the flavors. I asked for less sweet and it was perfect. The shop is totally made for social media. Decor was on point and the tables have lazy susans for that required dessert spin on reels. They have a screen on the wall that shows how they make the desserts that will have you drooling. What a amazing find! This place is around the corner from our neighborhood and I dismissed it as another typical Boba type of tea house. After a bike ride, I decided to have a drink and to my surprise this place had a lot of sweet treats like shave ice! As a huge mango fan, I asked for a mango drink, and the girl recommended the mango ice cloud. It is a blended ice drink with some sort of white cream that's delicious and chunks of mango at the bottom. You specify your level of sweetness, and of course, I went with the highest number five! It would have been better with more strawberries and cheesecake because the slice they give is very thin and awkward to share. We went after dinner and there were a few customers enjoying their sweet treats. As we were waiting and finished our bingsoo, it started getting crowded at around 7:30. A worker had to bring out more chairs and tables for people to sit outside because their space inside is limited and does not have enough chairs or tables for the amount of customers. After finishing our dessert, I waited back in line with my friend to order a drink for her sister. We noticed that the ground was very sticky and it is missing their ordering kiosk at the front. They have a good speaker outside to announce orders that are ready. Came here after a night of hot pot, for something cold and refreshing. The establishment was pretty busy, a lot of people were waiting for their drinks so me and my kids went to order off the menu. It was a self pay situation. Ordered a Thai milk tea, mango cloud and Ube taro. My eldest son did not like the Ube taro, he didn't realize it was going to be as thick as it was. My youngest switched with him since he was full off hot pot but the Thai milk tea was good. I got the mango cloud with mango bits. I was cautious when ordering because I hate mango flavored drinks I want full on mango. I was not disappointed the drink was really good. I had the tiramisu bingsu and it was so good! The ladyfingers were moist, soft, and very flavorful! The coffee the lady fingers are dipped in was quite strong and I really enjoyed it. I was quite impressed. Bingsu is one of my favorite desserts and Bru Tea Cafe did not disappoint! I will absolutely be back to try the other flavors. I like to pour the condensed milk and toppings in slowly as I eat it so that there are still enough for the shaved ice once you get past the initial toppings and all that is left is white. We also got a drink and I can't remember what it was, but it was very sweet. It may have been Oreo or something chocolatey. Despite my sweet tooth, I don't really enjoy heavily sweet things. If that's your preference though, I would recommend it! If not, maybe ask for half sweet or try a fruit tea or something else. The employees were very kind though and helped accommodate us. I think the only thing is that I wish they came by to clean the tables more often or offered to do it when they notice a new party sitting at a table. Orders are placed through a kiosk near through front counter but I've also seen staff take orders at the counter (which I prefer). We usually visit Bru Tea for their bingsoos. Their Mango version comes with Mango chunks and puree, whipped cream, almond slices, mochi bits, sweetened condensed milk, and a scoop of vanilla ice. It's perfection when mangos are in season!! I ordered a drink 15 minutes ago through the kiosk, but it did not go through, because the order was jammed in the printer. The staff members were busy laughing and chatting, and no one bothered to check the printer. I asked for a refund, and a staff member processed it and gave me a gift card. My nieces love bingsu, so we came here primarily for that and their sparkling tea. I didn't realize that sparkling tea was not a common item on most boba spots. Bru Tea is one of the rare places that had it on it's menu. We tried the Hawaiian sparkling and guava goddess. Both were tasty and refreshing. On our first visit, we got the strawberry matcha, mango coconut, and halo-halo bingsu. Bingsus are made of light shaved ice with fruit, ice cream and other toppings. The strawberry matcha had matcha in the shaved ice itself. You can also add frosted flakes and condensed milk for crunch and extra sweetness. The mango and strawberry bingsus were extra yummy because mangos and strawberries are in season. Food and drinks were really great however, the shop itself is really small and both times the seating areas were not cleaned after patrons left. i love bru tea! i'm a repeat customer simply because they're one of the few spots in sac that offer bingsu. their strawberry cheesecake bingsu is one of my favorites, light, fluffy, and honestly pretty sweet, but i have a huge sweet tooth so that's not a problem for me. the strawberries are fresh, the whipped cream light in texture and flavor, and the cheesecake is okay at best for me, i usually skip over it and give it to whomever i'm sharing the bingsu with. the bingsu has a huge mound of shaved ice on top but once you start getting to the base of the bowl there's strawberry syrup and condensed milk spread throughout, offering sweeter bites compared to the initial mound of bingsu you have to get through. if the bingsu isn't sweet enough for you, they give you a container of condensed milk on the side for you to pour and adjust the sweetness to your liking. the strawberry bingsu also comes with frosted flakes for extra sugar and crunch. the workers here seem to get along fairly well and are helpful if you ever have any questions, but it seems the default ordering process is through the kiosk. there is a bell for you to ring if you ever need to ask a worker a question. read more
