This is one of my favorite coffee shops in EG. There's so much seating and parking! But the real highlight are the drinks. Their coffee is stronggggg. I will mention most of their drinks have dairy (condensed milk or cream tops) so if you're dairy free, it might be hard to find a drink without customizing it. We had a terrible experience. We ordered five drinks: two with light ice and three with no ice. The no-ice drinks were intended for the next day. Unfortunately, we had the displeasure of being helped by Trish. She was noticeably rude to my sister from the start. The irritation and outright contempt she displayed were unlike anything we've experienced at this location. She even spoke negatively about our order to the coworker making the drinks while we were standing just a few feet away, which was incredibly unprofessional. When we received the no-ice drinks, we understood that ordering without ice might mean the cup wouldn't be completely full. However, the amount of the drink we were given was unacceptable. While the drinks are delicious and worth to us, they are $8.00! Thankfully, when we requested a refund, it was handled by a different employee who was kind, courteous, and professional. I want to end by saying that my sister was polite and respectful throughout the entire interaction. The way she was treated was completely uncalled for, and we left feeling very disappointed. So I went to this place on Monday May 11th around 3:45 p.m. . The place was pretty chill there were three other tables being occupied by customers. Even with that I would call the atmosphere very pleasant and calm. Two of those individuals were working on their laptops so definitely a place where individuals come to potentially do work or crank out a project they may be doing. I was really excited about coming on a day where they had a happy hour special and I definitely took full advantage of it. I got a classic milk tea and got the ube style macaron with it. I will say before I go into the food and drink itself, I was really happy with the person behind the register. She told me it was her very first day at the shop and I was asking these random questions and she was like I don't know but I can go find out for you and I'm like you know what don't worry about it I'm going to just try something at random and see how it goes and she get gold which made me go but it was the best case scenario based on us both not knowing the ins and outs of the menu. The macaron itself was superb. It was not overly sweet, the crunch of the bottom and top were perfect and it definitely melted in your mouth as you savor the taste. My milk tea again I'm a person that enjoys the taste of the tea and the black tea definitely came through which I was really happy about. The one thing that would have really made the tea extremely great for me would have been to be able to change the sweetness level. Again the person behind the register it was her first day so she wasn't sure how to do it so I got it as is but for me it was a little too sweet but again that is my preference. This box was not cheap and the fact that they still sold the broken macaron shows that they do not care about quality. I've been here many times and I love this place. They have a new matcha menu now which I'm happy about. I tried their matcha latte, double matcha and banana matcha. Their drinks are so good. They have so many wide variety of drinks, macaroons, desserts and even gelato. They have plenty of tables and free wifi. I actually see a lot of students come here to study. I recently went to try the new earl grey matcha on the menu. I did really enjoy the matcha and it definitely had a unique taste compared to other earl grey matchas I've tried. I didn't look at the menu to see if they offered oat milk, but I didn't ask and wasn't given the option. I can see why they recommend oat at most places as whole milk definitely has a flavor that overtakes the matcha. As I drank the drink, it started reminding me of cereal milk, so I felt like I could taste the sweetener more than anything else. There is a parking lot in the business plaza, but it can fill up during peak hours. The spots can be a bit tight too. The staff were approachable and the wait time for my drink wasnt too long. Came in right as they opened and right off the bat was greeted by the kindest young lady. Can't remember her name but she gave some great recommendations and had superb customer service. I got the strawberry matcha for myself and I would say it was a solid 3 out of 5. It was a bit chalky and I didn't get much of the strawberry taste but the matcha was rich in flavor. The Vietnamese coffee was for my friends and I would go back and get one for myself after tasting. The coffee was brewed perfectly and it had a nice bold body to it. The macarons were so so good! Honestly wondered if I missed something at Rooftop Macarons...... because I felt like this was a total waste of money.... I tried six macaroons and a tiramisu latte. The macaroons were sooooo stale that I was SHOCKED that they even sold these to customers. We ordered the tiramisu, churro, vanilla almond, espresso, samoas, vanilla, and one other. I tried one at the store and it was so hard that I could barely chew the macaroon. I thought maybe they were cold so I left them out for 2 hours to come to room temperature. The remaining macaroons were so stale that I couldn't even cut them with a knife. The tiramisu latte was good but filled almost entirely with ice. I would love to know if the make macaroons only once a week and there is a better day to go or how there are so many good Yelp reviews (this was why I wanted to try it). read more

Rooftop macaroons is a great place in Elk Grove to grab macaroons and coffee. It's a great place to hangout with friends and study (booths have outlets for chargers). I ordered the banana matcha latte which is only available Friday and Saturdays. Wow, this drink was delicious! They also do milk substitutions - I got almond milk with mine. My husband ordered the regular latte which was also good, however his cup was half ice. Although the drinks were good, the prices were pretty steep. I love the backdrop with the cute French macaron stools. I have been craving the strawberry matcha latte from Tule Coffee house and they happen to have something similar so I decided to try it. Unfortunately, I did not like the strawberry matcha latte. The matcha was gritty and they used a strawberry syrup instead of fresh strawberries. My friend got the egg coffee and I didn't try it so I can't provide a review on it, but she did tell me that it's strong. This was my second attempt at trying this shop. A few days ago, I stopped by around 5:26 PM, well before their 6 PM closing time. I went in hoping to order two specific drinks, but the staff told me they had already started cleaning and could no longer make them. Since there was still about 30 minutes left before closing, it felt a bit unreasonable to stop service that early. I was pretty disappointed, so my friend and I ended up leaving. I came back today to give it another try since I really wanted to try a specific drink. I finally ordered the Biscoff latte along with a cheesecake bite, which came out to $11. Unfortunately, the cheesecake was very dense and broke apart when I bit into it. I only had a couple of bites before tossing it--not really my favorite. As for the drink, it was extremely bitter--so strong that I couldn't get past a few sips. I ended up asking if they could dilute it, and thankfully, the staff member was kind enough to give me a cup of milk so I could adjust it myself without wasting the coffee. I really appreciated that gesture. She also explained that their coffee is Vietnamese-style, which makes sense. I've had Vietnamese coffee before and personally find it too strong for my taste, so ordering it without realizing that wasn't the best choice on my part. Based on her recommendations, I ordered 12 macarons consisting of the following flavors: Birthday Cake (3), Blueberry Cheesecake, Fruity Pebbles (2), Girl Scout (3), Raspberry, Salted Caramel, and Vanilla Bean. After paying, I waited for five minutes and another employee (who I assume may have been the owner), emerged from the backroom to present me with the 12 macarons in a cute box (I'm a sucker for presentation packaging). My wife's face lit up when she saw the macarons and she thoroughly enjoyed the flavors that I selected (of course my son and I made sure that she shared some of the goodness with us)... my personal favorites were "Birthday Cake" and "Girl Scout." As a tip - I suggest consuming these the day after purchase, for whatever reason they seemed to taste even better. My first review of 2025 and what better way to start off the new year than to review one of the more popular desserts, macarons! These sweet and savory Parisian-styled French inspired cookies have become increasingly popular over the years. This is where I had the opportunity to check out one of the trendiest dessert places in the Sacramento area, "Rooftop Macarons". Believe it or not, this small business has actually been around since 2017 when they were exclusively doing online orders through Instagram. Over that entire 5-year span, this craze got so immensely popular, they decided on building an actual brick-and-mortar location that came to life in August 2022. Located in a small strip mall, their business is situated at the corner of Vintage Park Dr. and Elk Grove Florin Rd. Hours of operation are Monday-Friday 8am-6pm and weekends from 10am-5pm. Keep in mind that they still do mobile orders but having an actual location also enhances the whole experience. I came here with my lady during the afternoon of Saturday 12/28/2024 at around 4:00pm. Since there were quite a bit of businesses opened during this time (Chinese restaurant, tattoo shop, etc.), the parking lot was quite full. Upon entry to Rooftop Macarons and they too had quite a few people inside. As for the interior layout, it was very bright, cheerful, and spacious as there was an abundance of seating throughout. To the left are a lovely mural painting of macarons and to the right is the digital menu board of all food & drink items. Since we had some much later in the day, they had sold out on many of the macarons but still had a few excellent options. My lady went with their "Strawberry Cheesecake" while I tried their "Cookies & Cream". Prices for these were a very reasonable $3.50 + tax. Since we also wanted to enjoy a cold beverage to pair up with these, I went with their #1 seller, the "Rooftop Marble Coffee". This was Phin-filtered coffee complete with sweetened condensed milk & house milk. My lady went with their "Tiramisu Latte" which also used the Phin-filtered coffee but added a housemade tiramisu cream & cocoa powder. Our drinks were ready within 5 minutes. I want to point out that this place exclusively only makes iced drinks; and that is for all their coffees and teas. In addition, they have an impressive amount of milk teas, matcha, and a few fruity specialty drinks. My drink was delicious but it was loaded with way too much ice to a point where I was done in just a few sips (hence the reason for deducting a star). However, the macarons were on point and some of the best I've ever had. All in all, "Rooftop Macarons" is definitely a business worth checking out if you're in this part of Sacramento. The service is above average while the ambiance and atmosphere was above average. One final thing is that this place does not accept cash but they do take Apple Pay/Google Pay as well as major debit/credit cards. I came in to try Rooftop Macarons for their $5 New Year's Day drink special and was glad I did. I asked for a matcha latte with a splash of pandan syrup and condensed milk. The staff was really helpful in answering questions and making adjustments since I can't drink anything too sweet. I was intrigued by the MACamisu since it was a mix of macaron shell & tiramisu. I ordered the ube flavor, which I could taste (none of that subdued flavor). The macaron shell was nice and crispy which added nice texture to the dessert. It wasn't too sweet so I ate it all in one go and didn't feel like I was sugar loaded. Parking is easy in a shared complex. It's in a residential area so pretty easy to navigate. It's so good and everybody should try it. Probably one of the best Macaroons you can get in Sacramento. Portion size is huge, and twice the size compared to other places. Quality is also great.
