Yum!! Had to bring a big ol box of their Staxx- their version of Señorita bread to a Grad party, always a hit!!!

I haven't been here in about year and wanted to get a treat for my family. I walked in today and it looked pretty runned down inside. I got the 20 pc stack and a mochi donut. Almost $20. I come home and open the box and the stax is mini size!! Not the size I remember, but the same price. Ridiculous! They taste fine but I thought I was getting what I remembered! I won't come back. Only gave 2 stars cause the flavor. I looked at previous pictures on the reviews and you can see they use to be way bigger just a year ago! Shame. read more

Interesting place but not to our taste. We stopped by to get a thank you gift for someone at the Elk Grove dealership. The donuts are definitely pretty, colorful and unique. The injections or syringes full of sweet fillings are quite novel. Kids love 'em. I know they were super popular when a student's parent brought Bad Bakers donuts to celebrate their birthday. So presentation wise, they have it down. Taste wise, ugh. Texture is all wrong and way too sweet. I grabbed an old fashioned donut to take home and by the time we got home, it felt all mushy, unlike old fashioned donuts at other shops. You know it's bad when the donut sits around at home untouched by everyone! But I'd say it's a good place to go for maybe kids, teens and younger customers who just want a cool-looking donut and some sugar. Our gift recipients thought they were super cool though. I kinda mumbled under my breath that they look amazing but not sure how great they taste (having tried the Roseville location in the past). Neat place but not quite our thing. read more

Don't get me wrong... how can you not love the staxx!! I order them from the Folsom location often for work and it's always a hit! So I decided to grab some from the Elk Grove location and for some reason it was not the same!!!! The size was half of what it use to be and there was barely ANY of the delicious frosting (or whatever is on it). Given them a couple tries but it's just not for me. It's waaaay too sweet and some of the flavors aren't so good. I don't like the gimmick of squeezing your own jelly/jam into the donuts. It's wasteful and inconvenient when you are trying to eat on the go. read more

Bad bakers is one of the good bakeries in EG. They have lots of really good pastries and my favorites are the señorira bread and the donuts. Always fresh and so good. The ambiance is lively and modern with a bright, clean setup and that cozy bakery buzz where you can see pastries on display and people coming in and out. It feels trendy but still welcoming. The service is always good too. Friendly and efficient every time I visit. Definitely a must-stop bakery if you're in the area. read more

I wanted to try Bad Bakers when they first opened a few years ago but was deterred when I saw the masses of flies landing on the donuts. I always drive by them on EG Blvd, and finally decided to go in, thinking I could give it another shot years later during the cool weather. A lot of their regular donuts didn't really stand out to me. Of the ones I tried, I would only get the "Shorty Cake" (strawberry icing) again. The Ube Cookies didn't have a strong ube flavor but had a good, chewy texture. I was surprised by their large selection of mochi donuts in various flavors and much preferred the taste/texture of these over the regular ones. I also tried some of the Jalapeño Cream Cheese, Ham & Cheese, and Hot Dog & Cheese Roll. I really enjoyed the Jalapeno Cream Cheese, it was pretty spicy as well. I've also tried a few of their other breads and bread-based items and have not been a fan. Service was quick and efficient. Now that I've tried a variety of items, I'd probably stick to mostly mochi donuts and I'd possibly get the Jalapeño Cream Cheese again. read more

Bc of January's Explore Elk Grove my wife decided to give this place a try. She actually was happy she did. First thing she observed walking through the door was clothing behind the display case. But she didn't come to shop! Yay! She loves mochi donuts so she gave the ube coconut mochi donut a try. It was good yet it wasn't really the highlight of this trip. What she did thoroughly observed through the display were the savory hotdogs & empanadas. She ordered one of each and enjoyed them especially the empanada was that was huge, tasty & fulfilling. She was sad she only bought one that day...She saw ube pandesal on a cart yet she's watching her carb intake. The service here however was excellent. My wife didn't catch the gal's name. She was so polite & nice. This business is definitely an order to go place. No tables or chairs to seat inside. Parking however was free & plentiful! My wife really loved those empanadas!!! Bad Bakers, another favorite bakery in Elk Grove. Bad Bakers is located in a convenient shopping center right next to Starbucks. In this trip, we grabbed donuts, hotdog kolaches, and stacks bread. Service was friendly and we had to wait for the fresh bread to come out, no issues there. The pastries were fresh and tasty. My favorites here are the kolaches. The donuts were good also however don't get here way too late because you won't have as much choices - I suggest getting here earlier, we got here at 11 and pictured is what was left of the donut display. I had a craving for some sweets in the morning and stopped by Bad Bakers. They had a large selection of doughnuts and flavors. Their doughnuts are very creative for sure. I grabbed a couple of unique donuts like the mangonada and ube mochi and jelly filled and some flats. I was disappointed in the mochi donut as it tasted stale. Like day old. Decided to come try this place out during Elk Grove Restaurant week. Only good thing about this place was first walking in and seeing all the different colors and flavors they had. And the jalapeño cream kolache wasn't terrible. Looked clean and aesthetically pleasing inside but don't let that fool you. A definite no no on the donuts. We ordered individual donuts and the employee just threw them in each bag and they came out super squished. The flavors were too sweet and they tasted like they were made with old oil. They were not fuffy like donuts are supposed to be. They were really dense and even ordering the guavas one, there was barely a dot of jelly inside. I told the employee I was checking in for Restaurant week and I was supposed to also get 15% off, I even asked if the discount had been applied as well. He told me that he had, yet the price didn't change. I got my receipt back and he definitely did not apply the discount. I was hopeful since this place is around the corner but I don't think I'll be coming back. I rather get better donuts and service elsewhere. read more

I was instantly greeted when I walked through the door. There was a decent selection of donuts ready for purchase. I came in to purchase a box of Staxx actually. I arrived at 7:04am not too long after they opened. I purchased a box of 50 pcs staxx for a work party and everything was freshly made and piping hot. I LOVEE the staxx! I really like Bad Bakers, I frequent both the Roseville and Folsom locations quite often. However, I think this location might be my favorite because it's closer, the customer service here is great, the prices are reasonable and they don't run out of my favorites. I've yet to try their donuts but I have had their staxx which is their version of "senorita bread" and it's so good. They are always fresh, buttery, sugary and they literally just melt in your mouth. I also really love the cheeseburger lumpia, they are my absolute favorite item here. The cheeseburger lumpia are always fresh as well and are filled with ground beef and gooey cheese. So crispy on the outside while the inside is decadent and so flavorful, you don't even need to dip these in anything because they are amazing alone. They also have a chicken lumpia as well, they are ok I just wish there were more ingredients and the chicken tends to be a bit dry. I definitely have to try their donuts, they have a wide variety of specialty donuts and mochi donuts as well. Bitsos, croissants and empanadas are available here too and I need to try those as well. I highly recommend coming here to at least try the staxx and lumpia because they were worth it! read more

Bad Bakers has a lot of interesting flavors and ideas and I give them extra points for trying new things. I also appreciate the variety as there are not many places you can get regular donuts and mochi donuts side by side. I have tried multiple styles and types of donuts here, from mochi, to jelly donuts with a flavor injecting syringe, to unique flavors like mangonada and lots of their stacks, but I really just find everything to be basic and ho-hum. The flavors aren't balanced or even very good sometimes. The mochi is chewy and stale. Lots of points for innovation but not so much for execution. The shop is cute and clean and the employees are nice enough and the prices are reasonable. read more

I think I missed the craze when Bad Bakers first opened in 2021. Honestly, I'm not sure what the hype is about. I picked up half a dozen donuts and 10 ube staxx for my friend's birthday. The ube staxx didn't have any ube taste at all. I have had way better senorita bread elsewhere (iykyk). I had the server select 6 of their most popular donuts for me. Some of the donut was interesting that came with the filling in the syringe and you can fill it up when you want and as much as you want. Nothing blew my mine - it was just okay. These donuts are unique. They have so many different flavors. They are a little on the sweeter side. I do like that they also have señorita bread. The mochi donuts are cool. My girlfriend said she wanted to get some Senorita bread and wanted to get some here, so we decided to make a trip to Bad Bakers. I've vaguely heard of Bad Bakers and didn't even know we had a location here in Elk Grove now. We arrived on a rainy Saturday afternoon, and Bad Bakers was pretty quiet. There was one other group of customers in the shop at the time we arrived. As I walked in I immediately noticed the apparel section to the left, as well as the assorted donut type items at the front of the shop. Bad Bakers has a fancy Boba/Tea House vibe, mixed with a Bakers Donuts (locals know what that is) mix of donuts/cronuts with a modern spin to them. There were various flavors of donuts and cronuts, as well as a few savory treats. I've never had a Cronut (Croissant donut) before, but have heard of them as they've become more popular in the last couple of yrs. My girlfriend got a little less than 2 dozen pieces of Senorita bread, and I decided to get an Oreo Remix donut and a Guava Cream Cronut. As well as a Bavarian Cream shot for my Oreo Remix Cronut. Overall: Both the Oreo Remix with the Bavarian Cream shot, and the Guava Cream Cronut were delicious. I did not try the Senorita bread but was told they were good as well. I really like the idea of the various flavored shots that you can add to your cronuts and donuts. It definitely adds an extra layer of flavor to an already delicious treat. read more

Partook in the too good to go surprise box. Came during the pickup window and was pleasantly surprised by the friendliness from behind the counter. He said he would be right back, it seems like he packed the box and came back with it. Box was hot which he warned me about and was a good weight. Very small box so was happy to see that it was jam packed with goodies, including some hot dog type looking salty food. Donuts looked fresh also. Tried a bit of everything and it was delish. These bread were not to standard today. I was told that they had changed the recipe to it and substitute butter instead of margarine and these were literally drowning in butter. They said that they were aware of it and still served it. Very mushy and not edible. This was the first time I received them this way. read more
