Always looking into small mom and pop shops. This place is located in South Sacramento. I've passed this shop several times and is pretty close to me compared to other donut shops. I decided to finally try this place out in the early morning after the gym. When we came in, we were the only customers at 6:30 am. There were a variety of delicious donuts. I think the prices here are pretty average. There were no places for us to sit if we decided to stay in to eat our donuts. I decided to get an old fashion and a maple bacon donut. They are both pretty fluffy and flavorful. Just know there is also a charge if you use card so I suggest to bring cash. The owner is super friendly and nice. Don't judge a book by its cover, outside looks suspicious. I went in a little late close to 12pm on a Monday but I still had some stuff and donuts and coffee. Gave me the option of creamers hazelnut, French vanilla or half-and-half. The donut was a little bit more bread style for my liking but it was really good flavor. I have been here before, but usually late to the party when there is slim pickings left. Always friendly service when I've come. I woke up too early and couldn't go to sleep so by 5 a.m. when I thought the chain store would be open, I decided I wanted an apple fritter. Well, the other guys weren't open as I was told they would be so I went here. I am so glad I did. I got 2 of the freshest apple fritters I have ever had. My husband was sad that I didn't get more. A few days ago my bf and I came here for the first time. This was the best decision we've made in a while. We were hooked after the first bite and decided to make this our new donut spot. The donuts were dense and had the perfect amount of sweetness. It's not overwhelming like the donuts you would typically find at Krispy Kreme, but this is just my personal preference. The size is huge plus since you're only paying $1 and feeling satisfied after the first one. The man who runs the shop has a very welcoming vibe. Try to dodge the con artists and the panhandlers on the way in. Lucky Donuts is pretty large for a donut shop, but they only have three tables that are pushed to one side leaving a lot of extra unused space. Fortunately they are not very busy so there are always plenty of places to sit. The donuts taste just like donuts and the coffee tastes like donut shop motor oil.
