I went to Cafe Con Azúcar around noon to study, and honestly it was a really nice experience. The inside is super beautiful and cozy--perfect vibes for studying or getting work done. It was quiet the whole time, and even when more people came in later, it never got loud or distracting. I ordered a white mocha, and it was a little bitter at first since I didn't ask for extra creamers or sweetener (my fault ). I ended up adding a sugar packet and it was good after that. Not a deal breaker at all. The baristas were super nice and patient. I went back up to ask for the Wi-Fi password, and after I couldn't get it to work (lol), they were kind enough to put it in for me. Everyone behind the counter was really welcoming and chill. Overall, great place to study, relax, and enjoy a calm atmosphere. I'd definitely come back.
Walked in on a rainy Saturday morning and immediately loved the vibe. The place is beautifully decorated and very picture-friendly, with great music playing. There was a line to order, which is always a good sign. I ordered a latte with a cuernito. The cuernitos are very small (tiny but mighty!), but they had great flavor and weren't overly sweet. My husband had a mocha made with Mexican Abuelita chocolate -- you could clearly taste the cinnamon, and it was full of flavor. We also ordered a ham and cheese sandwich, which was excellent. Overall, a lovely spot and definitely worth the visit.
I love this cafe. You really have to be there to get it. The interior is dope and it's always busy whenever I come by for a coffee date. This is the spot with the giant conchas and the big pot of coffee. Perfect place for all the aunties to go full chismosa on a nice weekend morning. I love their matcha horchata. So good. I come here specifically when I want a warm matcha because so many new matcha spots only serve iced. This is my go to when I want something hot with that little dash of horchata. You really taste both the matcha and the horchata. They also have a fun latte art moment when I ordered the mazapan latte. Super cute reindeer and festive, esp for the holidays!
Great little breakfast spot! Their coffee was just amazing! Even thought it was made of sweet flavors it was not overpowering. The iced horchata latte was my favorite. We also got a caprese with bacon added. The toast was nice and chubby and had a good amount of avocado, cheese & bacon. Staff was very friendly and even thought they were super busy they got the line going and got our things out relatively quick. Definetly a spot to try if you like mexican inspired coffee.
What a fun place and a great place to take Selfies. They have swing with a decorated wall behind it set up just for selfies. They have a sign asking customers to not swing on the swing. They also have a ivy wall in the back beside the fake tree that is a fun addition to the space. The ceiling is also decorated with flowers. They have a pretty good selections of drinks and snacks. The torta is not very Mexican or what I'm used to. They don't come with your typical selection of Mexican meats and beans and lettuce and tomatoes. I always think of a Mexican burrito on sandwich roll. All of their food has been Americanized, which is fine, just know what to expect. One thing they do right is their Conchas. They are very moist and tasty. I got the pink one and loved it. They also sell a giant one that is the size of a medium size pizza. We didn't see anyone with one of those. They would be a novelty for a large group or a good party food. I also got the pineapple Augas Fresca which was very tasty. The vibe is nice. It's more of a grab and go type of group. Very of the tables were occupied. They have a bathroom, and the code prints out on the recipes when you make a purchase. If you want to wash your hands you are welcome to and that party, you don't need a code. Parking is either on the street which is few and far between. Best options would be the parking garage, but that isn't such a good option if you just want to stop in here and grab a snack or drink. I think the only reason you'd come here if you are already in DOCO and wanted a tasty snack. We on the other hand came here just to check this place out, but we walked over so that's another way you can do it. If you are in old sac and want to try something new this is a great opportunity and option.
The space is spacious with lots of seating. They always have decor on point for holiday. Not pictured but ordered their BLT sandwich. It was one of the best BLT I've ever had! Their hot abuelita chocolate was also solid. A nice stop on a cold day.
First Visit a very quick stop due to parking on the street. Walked in loved the vibe and deco , it was busy with a morning event so I picked up a coffee and some conchas ohhh loved the pumpkin ones. Staff quick service no lines. will certainly return again to try other items on the menu. great sitting area and they do have Merch and Coffee for sale. be back soon
Finished working out at 24 Hour Fitness and I noticed what used to be a Starbucks Reserve. Ambiance Bright and festive colors, so Mexican I love it. Customer Service Good. Iced Mocha Mexicano Very tasty not sure what is in it but has two shots expresso, some sort of chocolate, cinnamon and whipped cream. They have miniature pan dulces which I was informed they bake. They have a massive concha for $30 for a family affair. My interaction was brief but very positive.
Located in the DoCo area. Was excited to finally visit, first time I tried on a weekend, the line was out the door! Decor, cleanliness, wall art, and furniture are impressive. Yes, i'll sit and stay awhile. Bakery case was inviting and menu was enticing. This place sells Cafe de Olla- and there aren't many places in Sacramento that do! The cashier was kind enough to give me a cold sample - delicious! I ordered the iced abuelita chai- it was perfect! Not too sweet, the abuelita cold foam was thick and delicious, and the chai was not too overpowering. I also sampled a horchata latte, also delicious. The pastry was light, not as dry as it looked, which was a good thing. Definitely a place i'll be coming back to.
The space is very festive and cute, full of elements of Mexican culture and photo ops! I loved duvalín candy as a kid so I came here specifically for that item. I was a little let down because the latte doesn't really remind me of duvalín and instead strawberry milk over espresso. Perhaps I'll try another drink next time. The pastries didn't look super appetizing personally but they seem popular among others, especially the huge concha. On the plus side, the staff was nice and made my drink quickly. This location is in a busy part of town though and may be difficult to find parking near.
This might be my favorite coffee shop in downtown. It's not because of the coffee. It's just the overall vibe, ambience, and beauty. Con Azucar Café did not disappoint. Both drinks I had one was the Matcha Horchata and the other brown sugar Horchata latte. They were both amazing. I had their jamon torta as well. The staff was really friendly and helpful. Take a look at my pictures. The inside is a party, and sadly if you haven't visited Con Azucar Cafe, then you're not invited to the party!

I came here for the 1st time with a friend finally. After months of there being a line out the door when they 1st opened. It's adorable inside with all the Mexican themed decorations and theme. There were so many options to try. The employee that helped us told us all of their lattes or espresso based drinks come with 2 espresso shots. Whether it's the grandote or medium sized or the smaller size. My friend didn't want coffee so she had the raspberry jamaica refresher. She really liked it. I had the iced horchata latte sized grandote (in Spanish means very big) but it's more of the medium size you'd find at Peet's Coffee or Starbucks. The horchata latte was delicious and not too sweet but, was a yummy sweet treat. Also, they have the good ice! Good ice makes the world of difference in any drink. We shared a bag of the mini pan dulce. It had an assortment of tiny pan dulce like tiny little chonchas and marranitos (ginger pig cookies). They weren't too dry and tasted fresh and yummy. I was pleasantly surprised. The employee said their chain makes the pan dulce off-site and has it delivered. I'm glad I got a chance to try this new adorable place and as a coffee lover too.

Located in DOCO, in a very busy and beautiful area. This place is spacious, clean, and beautiful. I really appreciated the cleanliness and vibe in there. However the coffee wasn't my favorite or as enjoyable for me. The Spanish latte wasn't sweet enough and the espresso taste was weak as well. Then, the mazapan latte was too sweet with hardly any espresso flavor.. which is unfortunate because I asked the cashier for their best recommendation prior to ordering and felt like their product knowledge wasn't in tune as I hoped. However, the employees were welcoming and attentive when needed and seemed to be okay with us eating the pastries we brought from a nearby storefront. Honestly if I would return, it'd be to try their juices or other fruit drinks. read more
So I woke up on a recent Sunday morning and found myself craving a little something different than my Keurig or Nespresso machines offered so I decided to head down to,in my opinion,the cutest little coffee shop in downtown Sacramento-Con Azucar Cafe. This shop is located at the end of DoCo across from Sauced in the spot that was previously a Starbucks Reserve shop.Parking is available underneath DoCo in the city lot,with validation available from the business tenants of DoCo but with the abundance of street parking available,I just parked on the street. Upon walking in I knew I made the right choice that morning,I know it sounds cliche but that place is a vibe.They were playing solid Latin music,the decor inside was truly thought thru to convey a particular feel-it felt great in there,now I just had to hope the coffee and small bites,matched up to the ambience. This particular morning was pretty busy as there were like about 10 people in line when I got there and only 1 person taking orders plus the tables were at about 90% capacity but it wasn't hard to find a place to sit because the turnover for tables was really fast. We decided to try a few things that visit,I went with a Dulce de Leche latte"Grandote" size ($7.00) and the wife went with a similar sized Mexican Mocha ($7.00).We also decided to get some food,so ended up going with the Bacon,Egg,and Cheese breakfast sandwich($7.50) and also the Torta de Jamon ($15.00). Coffee was made pretty quickly but there was a slight wait for the food but didn't mind it too much as I can tell it was made very fresh as I got to watch the worker make my Torta-very glad it wasn't premade. I really loved my Dulce de Leche latte-gave me caramel macchiato vibes but just different enough,it was really good,I tasted the Mexican Mocha and it tasted exactly like one should taste,it's just not my particular preference,but I blame that on my palette not the craftsmanship,as the wife truly enjoyed it. As for the food I really liked the Bacon breakfast sandwich,was a solid value for what we got,I would for sure order it again if I just wanted a quick small bite.The Torta de Jamon I really really enjoyed,featuring ham with avocado,pickled jalapeños,pepper jack cheese,fresh tomato,queso fresco served on toasted bread-very tasty and fresh tasting-I would for sure order it again. That being said,the true star of the night when it comes to this visit was the place itself,I really enjoyed the ambience,the customers,the decor,I'm really glad this place exists and it's a welcome addition to the downtown Sacramento coffee scene-I look forward to returning. read more

I coulda swore I left a review for this spot already...but here goes again... Love this cafecito...I went during their soft opening in January 2025 and many more times with my most recent visit being last night (December 2025) and each time the service, the vibe, the product (no matter what I get) - just blows me away. Alan, the owner, is there once in a while too just helping and welcoming people and I love that he stays humble through it all... I have had their abuelita hot chocolate, banana matcha, piña colada, horchata, they even gave my pup a pup cup. Oh and their conchas, pastries, and other food is pretty bomb too! Grilled cheese was super yummy and they even have tamales during this holiday season too and they put the works on it! *Note: They do stop serving food 1 hour before closing though - so keep that in mind if you are looking for a late night snack. I think it is also cool that you can pay $1.50 to make any drink (that has foam) a "selfie-ccino" and send any photo to be "printed" on top of your drink. It is a fun little touch :) Thank you all for always being so kind and welcoming whenever I stop by...ya'll are doing a great job and make me proud to be Latina and I wish you continued success!!! read more

We had some time to spare before the Wu-Tang Forever: The Final Chamber show at Golden 1, so we decided to walk around the area. I was getting thirsty so we decided to look for a place to buy a drink. I'm really glad we did, or else we might have missed out on this gem! As soon as we walked into the cafe, I was struck by the adorable decorations, the murals on the walls, and the Instagram-worthy swing they had set up for photo opts! It wasn't busy either. They offered a wide range of inexpensive drinks on the menu, and I chose the cucumber lime drink. My boyfriend went with the piña colada. We didn't wait long for our drinks, but during our wait, we decided to take a few fun pics until our order was ready. Both drinks were very tasty and refreshing! I absolutely loved this place and can't wait to return! read more
stopped by this coffee shop while in Sacramento. Their coffee and aguas frescas are delicious! They have some great coffee and mix some classic Mexican flavors in their coffee. The staff is friendly and work super quick to get orders out in a timely fashion. We also had a torta de jamon and it was super good! This is a vibrant and colorful cafe, with lively vibes. One time we walked in there and the line was outside the door - we were told by a customer that they waited approx 1 hr to order! However, we returned on a Monday around noon and we walked right up to order! Yes, the coffee is delicious! I love that they have specialty coffees with Horchata, or Mazapán, etc... I had the iced Horchata Latte and it did not disappoint. My husband had the White Mocha which had just the right amount of chocolate, that didn't overpower the coffee. For lunch we had the Torta de Jamon and 3 Cheese Grilled Cheese Sandwich - both filling and full of flavor. The cheese in the grilled cheese was perfectly melted - I wish I would've taken some drool worthy pics of it. Can't wait to return! read more

I had been wanting to check out Con Azucar Cafe for a while now and I was finally in the area today and stopped in. It is located where the old Starbucks Reserve used to be on the corner of DOCO and across from Sauced. The inside was decorated so beautifully inviting and had plenty of areas to take Instagram worthy photos! I ordered an Iced Duvalin Latte which was described has having a chocolate covered strawberry flavor and it was definitely the perfect description. I loved the subtle sweetness, but could still taste the strong coffee flavor - it was a 10/10 for me and I would definitely order it again! I loved seeing their massive concha's on display as well as other Pan Dulces - we took home a bag of their mini sized Concha's. They offer "Bites" like Avocado Toast and BLTs and lots of different drinks like refreshers and even different flavored Matchas. If I were a Matcha fan, I would have ordered the Banana flavored one for sure. Staff were very friendly and gave great recommendations! Overall, I'm really happy that we visited and I can't wait to come back. Check them out! read more

This cafe lives up to the hype for sure! Super cute inside and the staff was adorable, sweet and efficient. Loved my match and the avocado toast was to die for! I had half of the torta, which was also yummy --- simple, but yummy. Obviously the decor and photo ops are what drives a lot of customers in too and I must say that it's just as cute inside as pictured online. While I wish it wasn't located in the busy DOCO -- I think it's definitely worthy of its home there. Can't wait to return :) read more

I love this franchise so much, it never disappoints. Here i have tried the Hazelnut Truffle and the Mexican Mocha. My favorite was the Hazelnut Truffle, it is much sweeter than the Mexican Mocha but extremely delicious. The service was extremely quick and i have only gone once before to the Manteca location but the rewards are insane!! i 100% recommend signing up for rewards, i got one drink free !! I love the look of the place and it is in such a perfect location. read more

I always love going to con azucar. This location is in a good spot being in DOCO. I've only been to the SJ location before, and I didn't notice any differences in the menu. Just a warning, that the drinks here are very sweet, so if that's not up your alley, not the best coffee option. The bathrooms were clean, there's WiFi so it's a good place to work, and there's more seating here than at the SJ spot. The inside is also very aesthetically pleasing if you're looking for a good photo spot read more

It's where the old Starbucks used to be in DOCO, so not much parking but if you're wanting to walk around DOCO and check out K street I recommend stopping by. My husband and I went on an early Sunday morning and it was pretty empty. We ordered the chocolate abuelita ($5), banana cold foam matcha ($6.50) , and the caprese toast ($13.50). The chocolate abuelita tasted like the leftover milk after having Cinnamon Toast Crunch for breakfast!! Super yummy and pretty sweet. The banana cold foam matcha was super good too. The cold foam had a great banana flavor and I thought the matcha was great! The caprese toast was fine but nothing special. The service was really quick, but we were the only ones in there. I checked out Con Azúcar Café as soon as they opened and have already been back several times. This place is honestly one of the nicest most vibrant cafes in Sacramento. The decor is gorgeous and full of life. It is definitely a spot that stands out. The staff is always friendly and helpful making you feel welcome every visit. The drinks are consistently great with plenty of flavor but balanced just right. It is Latino-owned and bringing something fresh and exciting to downtown near DOCO. It can get busy but that just shows how much people love it. If you are in the area definitely stop by. I am excited to keep coming back. read more

I really enjoyed my visit to con azucar when I went out iceskating! The tamale was super flavorful (not spicy) and iced Mexican chocolate with oat milk was sweet and delightful. Service was quick and there was plenty of seating. They have beautiful decor for Christmas - definitely worth a visit! read more

My bestie and I have a weekly ritual of checking out new local coffee shops, and last week we landed at Con Azúcar Cafe, located right in the heart of downtown Sacramento (DOCO area). My friend went with the duvalin latte, inspired by the nostalgic Mexican candy. It was a surprising but delicious combo of strawberry and espresso, something I never thought I'd enjoy in a latte, but it totally worked. Both drinks were thoughtfully crafted and felt like something you won't find just anywhere. The only "challenge" (if you can even call it that) is the menu--it's extensive, and with so many visually appealing options playing on the screens, you'll want to try everything! It can be a little pricey, but that's pretty standard for the DOCO area. Considering the quality, creativity, and ambiance, I think it's worth every penny. From the kind staff to the flavorful drinks and freshly made food, my experience at Con Azúcar Cafe was fantastic. I'll definitely be back to try more from their menu. It seems like this place is now under new management and is now called CafeX. My coworker and I went on a quick coffee break and decided to check this spot out after hearing it from others on our team. The place is conveniently located in DOCO across from Sauced and right next to Tipsy Putt. Walking in, the place was very well decorated and inviting. When we went, there was no line so we were able to check the menu and order right away. I ended up ordering the Horchata Matcha and my coworker got the Horchata Latte. For someone who is a Matcha girly, I was curious on how they do their matcha compared to other cafes. I also thought that Horchata and Matcha together were an interesting and unique combo. After taking my first sip, the Horchata Matcha was amazing! I love the cinnamon twist that you can taste with every sip. I definitely want to come back again and try more of their menu. The food selections that they have also looked and sounded really good. I was eyeing the Grilled Cheese sandwich and will definitely plan on ordering that the next time I visit here for a coffee run. read more

On a 10 point scale I would give this place an 8/10. BEAUTIFUL atmosphere. LOTS of tables and room to sit with family, meet a date, or even study. As a student, I was eternally grateful for the outlets under the tables as well! I tried the Abuelita hot chocolate and some cookies. The cookies were a bit dry, but the hot chocolate was fantastic, tasted like when my grandma makes it at home. The area surrounding the cafe is the Golden One Center so there are so many places to walk around if you are working or studying and need a break! The staff was also very friendly, and I got my drink and cookies almost immediately. Will definitely be coming again, to try the food and a matcha! Maybe even there gigante concha! read more

Considering Sacramento offers a respected variety of local, independent coffee shops, there isn't a whole lot of them that have authentic Mexican-style drinks and eats. The good thing is that more and more places are now opened for business (as of early-2025) such as "La Costa Cafe" (on 19th St/G St), "Bueno Café" (on 4th St/T St), and now this new place that replaced the (underperforming) Starbucks Reserve at the corner of 6th St/K St., "Con Azucar Cafe". Best of all, this place has all of the Mexican favorites as well as a very generous assortment of Mexican pastries/desserts and even a small breakfast menu. Surprisingly, this small business has many other locations, predominantly in the San Jose, CA area but also a few other spots in California as well as Nebraska. And according to the website, they have many more locations opening in the future throughout California as well as Texas. The DOCO location which is in the heart of Sacramento opened its doors in January 2025. I came here for the first time with my lady during the morning of Saturday 3/15/2025 at around 11:00am. Keep in mind that parking here is quite challenging and I highly recommend parking at one of the nearby underground garages (below DOCO) or the metered surface streets. I also wanted to point out that this place does NOT validate parking. My advice is if you don't drive, there are other easier options including light rail, rideshare, or arrive by foot or bicycle. I will say that what they have done to the interior absolutely defies the true representation of what this place is all about. Upon entering, you will notice bright, colorful artwork with the business name surrounding the ordering area. There is also a wooden swing (that is for display only) complete with a neon light that reads "Sienta El Pedorro" framed by artificial white roses. Additionally, there are several large murals representing historic Mexican women as well as artwork that showcases Sacramento. Finally, this place has an abundant amount of seating throughout but from the time I visited here, the seats can fill up very quickly. During our visit, there was a line of about 15 people ahead of us. However, this moved rapidly as it was finally our turn to order in just under 20 minutes. As I mentioned, this place has a ton of sweet baked goods including "Concha (Pan Dulce)", avocado toast, BLT, and tortas as well as all the common coffee/espresso beverages (Americanos, Lattes, Mochas). And of course their exclusive "Specialty" beverages that includes "Horchata", "Duvalin", and "Mazapan" lattes as well as seasonal drinks, blended Frappes, and even fruity refresher beverages. I ended up going with the "Iced Mazapan Latte" which is a mix of cinnamon, sweetened condensed milk, and espresso while my lady ordered their "Iced Horchata Latte". Considering how busy this place was, we got our drinks in around 10 minutes after we ordered and paid. I must say that the whole process moved rather quickly. I still advise giving yourself a good hour from the time you park until the time you get back to your vehicle due to the popularity of this place. I will say that my Mazapan latte was quite delicious but a tad bit too sweet for my personal preference. All in all, I expect "Con Azucar Cafe" should do well in this location as it is prime location. Hopefully their business withstands the test of time and is here for awhile. My rating, an above average four stars. read more
