I have been wanting to visit Starbread Bakery since forever and I finally was able to visit. The famous senorita bread was really good, it's very simple but also pretty addicting. This is a Filipino bakery and they sell lots of Filipino baked goods. The first thing my husband eyed was the carioca because that's his favorite and he grabbed a couple of those, we got some ensaymadas and malasadas too. The bakery is very small, but they have tons ready to go behind the glass case. You can't see the kitchen or ovens since it's blocked off somewhere in the back, but you can hear the workers chatting back there. The young gentleman at the front was just okay. He wasn't to friendly, but he was ready to help. The prices are not too bad, but Starbread fans I think you should check out Fil Bake Shop in Delano CA because they have lady fingers that are similar to the senorita bread but it also has cream cheese inside too. I definitely will be back to visit Starbread. If you're not from the area you'll love this location. It has a lot of Filipino restaurants and shops nearby. They have seafood city, red ribbon, chow king, Jollibee and they even have a karaoke store next to Starbread Bakery. read more

This is a new favorite. The place is small, no places to sit. This is a pick up and go type bakery. It's bright and the kitchen takes up most of the space. The place smells delicious when you walk in. Quite a few treats were already gone when we got there, but we ordered a Bavarian malasada, a cream cheese roll up, a guava cream cheese strudel, and an apple roll up. These items were melt-in-your-mouth perfection. I'm usually not a morning eater, but I finished my treats. While I was inside, I saw they sold other items, so I also picked some dulce de leche roll up, some cream cheese roll up, and some strawberry cream cheese rolls. These will be great for dessert or a breakfast treat. Will definitely be back again to try their other offerings. read more

Finally made my way into Starbread bakery, after hearing so much about it. Came in early on a Saturday morning and it wasn't too busy yet, and looked around for a bit. I saw their list of popular Star bread options, but wasn't familiar with their other sweet and savory options like their donuts and baked rolls. Been coming here for years. This bakery is small but mighty and it's nice seeing all of the upgrades to the decor and interior. Service is always friendly and the bread and other items sold are delicious! The only thing I would say is that I wish they brushed the butter sugar mixture on top of the bread also versus just inside because some batches have come out a bit dry. read more

Delicious princess bread when you get it hot and fresh from here. They are pretty small and gone in a few bites, so get more than you think you'll need. They also reheat fine if you have extra. I mean, who doesn't love the pillowy, soft, buttery goodness that's fresh from the oven? I always forget they have locations down south, but I never seem to forget when I'm in SacTown!! Lol Maybe it's because it was at this Starbread Bakery location that I popped my Señorita Bread cherry!! They have other Filipino desserts and baked goods, but I've never purchased anything else. Recently stopped by Starbread and picked up one of their malasadas, a Bavarian malasada, and a few Señorita breads. Unfortunately, it was a big disappointment. The malasada was cold and lacked that soft, chewy texture -- it felt more like a two-day-old donut: dense and dry. I wouldn't buy that again. As for the Señorita bread, it seems like they've changed the recipe. It's no longer the soft, chewy, buttery, and sweet bread I used to love. It tastes completely different now. I understand prices have gone up, but I'd honestly rather see a small price increase than a decline in quality. Other than the regular senorita bread, I've also tried their jumbo/XL senorita bread with fillings like Nutella, Mango, Guava, or Strawberry, the hopia baboy, puto. They also had what looked like malasadas in the glass case, and self-serve bags of pan de sal (plain and ube), pan de ube, pan de coco too. Note that this is a standalone bakery not attached to Seafood City Supermarket, located next to the pho place. We tried their rice cake things? I dont remember what it was called but it was alright, we also tried three malasadas and the bread wasnt that soft and not that much filling, would prob be better warm. Haven't been here in ages due to controlling my diabetes, but all that went out the window this morning! Was going to just pick up the standard senorita bread, but lo and behold I see new additions to the case (new to me at least)...Malasadas (strawberry, Bavarian and Dulce de Leche) and mochi donuts (coffee, taro and matcha tea) !! Ate a bit of each upon arriving at the house, and everything was fresh and flavorful. Donuts were good and Dulce de Leche was malasada was filled proportionately. Also, props goes to the cashier who multi-tasked effectively (answering phone, grabbing orders, taking orders)...and all were done in a pleasant tone and mannerisms...something not seen in retail nowadays. My stomach is content, but arteries probably clogged until meds kick in . But hey, indulging in Starbread goodies every now and then ain't bad!
