Chicken adobo with garlic rice. Always consistent, always good. Casual environment. Small seating area inside good service. Parking is in the parking lot out front.
Ummmm.... Disclaimer for anybody just stopping by to eat here on your drive home....call your order in ahead of time so that they will for sure have food available for you(and your family) to actually eat, otherwise the lil one at the register will keep saying"...oh, unfortunately, we ran out of that..." OR "...unfortunately, it will be a 40 min wait for that..." i mean, they told us they ran out of rice?? What filipino anything 'ran out of rice' ?? ...THIS place! Lol Anyway, we came in 3 fams deep and basically the restaurant was probably not ready to accommodate alot of orders taken 2.5 hours prior to closing time on a sunday. Also, its sacramento summer heat at 103 degrees outside and this spot only using overhead room fans and a portable fan sitting on top the coldest thing inside the restuarant, cola fridge. We had to make sure the kids ate something so we ordered the pork adobo and rice with some lumpia on the side. At least our other fam was able to order silogs and a few savory chicken combo....i guess timing is a virtue here. Cost is not bad for what the food is, just wish it was ready available. Overall thought....theres no more Savory Chicken in milpitas and this the only one to get it if you are craving it and live in sf bay area. So it is what it is solid 2 stars for experience alone, if food is on point then they get that plus HALF POINT.
So. . .I was hungry and wasn't sure what I wanted to eat but Savory kept popping up in my head LOL. I got the half glazed chicken w/garlic rice and tosilog (for the first time). OMG. I don't eat pork much but that's about to change with this tosilog because it is SO good!! The pancit is a staple for us, my daughters love it. I didn't get his name but the employee working was very welcoming. Great service. Highly recommend.
There was a point in time where I would come here on a monthly basis during my college days. I recently went back after 10+ years and it still serves great chicken. The restaurant still looks the same and you can dine inside again. I'm glad they survived COVID. I recently called in an order so I wouldn't have to wait for my food when I got there. The server/girl who answered the phone was really nice and great. She got my order down quickly and efficiently. I ordered the combo plate with half fried chicken, longanisa, upgraded to garlic rice and got extra gravy. I also ordered a side of 6 piece pork lumpia as well. The food is as good as always. It is a lot of food so I got 2 meals out of it. It really hit the spot. My only complaint was the rice tasted old since the texture was like day old rice and really dry. There is plenty of parking in the plaza as well. I'll have to remember to come back here soon.
My son saw an IG video for their fried chicken. The name itself should convince you to try them! Savory Fried Chicken is a Filipino restaurant hidden in Laguna Village Plaza. Plenty of parking. Although we got our food to go, there are about 10 tables to dine in. They also have a catering menu. Glazed Chicksilog (Breakfast Special) You get half fried chicken served with garlic rice and 2 eggs cooked any way you want. I like my over medium. Glazed sauce on the side. The chicken is indeed savory, juicy and crispy. The glazed sauce is like a sweet, syrupy teriyaki sauce. I like it but I think I like the regular chicken sauce more. My son got the half fried chicken with garlic rice. It's the same item without the eggs, but with a chicken broth sauce that's like a gravy. I think the sauce is what makes the chicken special.

The place appears to be clean and a cute decor of the Nipa or bamboo house decoratively adorns their flat screen television. They have the typical giant wooden fork and spoon and even a metal art of a rooster on one side of the registers. The workers behind the counter are nice and friendly. I ordered the Half fried chicken, longaniza and steam rice. I also bought a side order of their pork lumpia and the girl at the counter said they are Shanghai versions. I ordered it to go. They told me to wait 10 mins. It was around 2:30pm when I ordered on a Saturday. While I waited for my food, I notice the art paintings that depicted life in the Philippines. Got my food and left to go home. I have to say.....the portion of the fried chicken is big. It's practically a whole leg that gives you the breast too. I had to save again and ate it again at another meal setting. I got two of the sweet longaniza and it was nicely cooked. I ordered a side order of the pork lumpia and it was a lot when you pair it with your chicken meal. I was stuffed. I now know that I have to decide how I wanna eat. Because just the chicken alone is already large enough. Not bad. I'd try the other dishes on the menu.
Stopped in for a light bite before heading to dinner with a friend. Ended up ordering a half fried chicken for $11, which seemed pretty reasonable. Lots of take away orders being picked up, but there are dining tables and chairs to eat in as well. Chicken came out hot and crispy, meat was a tad of the drier sauce, and is served a long with a side of gravy. Which offset the dryness pretty well. I'd definitely go back and could consider this spot for catering in the future as well.
Authentic Filipino food with big portions. Been here twice. First time was pork adobo & longanisa, second time was the fried chicken with longanisa. No pics of the adobo/longanisa from my first visit, I ate it too quickly. Tip: call beforehand if you're driving to eat here to make sure they have fried chicken. We came the Monday after Superbowl weekend and they ran out of chicken right before we got there. They said it wasn't typical, but I suggest calling to be safe. (I think they actually gave me an extra longanisa the 1st time if I'm not mistaken, I presume since the chicken ran out.) Pork adobo: all meat, no potatoes. Sometimes there isn't enough meat when eating at other places so I was actually happy there was a lot. The pork was tender and flavorful. Longanisa: Well done but not overcooked. Very good. Chicken: definitely the star of the show. Similar to Max's Chicken, but better. Delectable skin and juicy meat. Love the gravy. Ambiance: I knew going off of the interior/furniture this place has real Filipino food. It's a casual restaurant with simple tables/chairs and Filipino artwork that makes you feel like you're in the Philippines. It's a safe place to take someone who's never had Filipino food; they can try anything on the menu and would enjoy it. NGL the 2nd time I visited there was a table (or 2?) that should've been cleaned, there was rice on the floor. Otherwise, the restaurant was clean. I like that they package your food in to go containers even if you're eating there, for baon. Customer service was great, both times staff were friendly and polite. Parking: Located in a plaza with plenty of parking. Sarap!! A must visit when in NorCal.
We purchase the grill and glazed whole chicken ! Both were fresh and flavorful It was a pickup order but we were greeted with big smile when we pickup.
This is the second time we've been here and it always hits! Just be aware that you'll wait about 15-20 minutes for your food if you don't order ahead. They get pretty busy. But it's definitely worth the wait! We ordered the 1/2 glazed chicken with rice and lumpia shanghai and the palabok. I noticed a lot of people order on Door Dash which makes sense because the restaurant isn't huge. 10/10, get your Filipino fix on!
Paid about $18 for the double combo with Longaniza and half fried chicken and $10 for lumpia! Java rice I can pass on Longaniza grilled was bomb... 8.3/10 Half fried chicken a bit salty but a perfect thin crisp 8/10 Lumpia 9/10 long pieces with good pork flavor! Gotta get that gravy with the chicken and vinegar to cut the fats and oils Nice little ma and pa shop and very friendly and helpful service. I'm parked outside right now waiting for it to open at 11am back to back weekends :P Overall a great value and taste
Today, I ordered the pork belly combo and a side order of pancit. The pork belly combo comes with a scoop of rice and four lumpia's. The pork belly was prepared perfectly with the right amount of char. It was moist and delicious. This is the best place to get pork belly. The lumpia was very good also. The pancit was very good. The noodles were very fresh, with the chicken and cabbage. The staff tonight were very helpful and friendly. The perfect dinner tonight!

My husband and I split a glazed chicken and a fried chicken entree. The chicken was pretty dry and didn't have that much flavor. You definitely need the gravy to moisten it up. We also waited a long time for our food (~40-45 mins). The restaurant didn't seem too busy- there was only one other person eating in the restaurant. They had a couple of to go orders and seemed like they were prioritizing those. The staff did give us a complimentary order of garlic noodles which was nice. The lumpia was good. If I was hosting a party, I would come back and order a party tray of lumpia. Unfortunately, the name sake fried chicken did not impress us. read more

Savory Fried Chicken is one of our favorite places to get Filipino fried chicken! We love the huge portions of chicken with the different combo meals. We usually get the half chicken with either rice or pancit. The half chicken is huge. The chicken is always juicy and crispy, and taste great with the gravy. The gravy itself is light but flavorful. We also love their pancit. It tastes just like what Lola would make. The inside space has several tables for dine in. The space isn't big but the turn over is fast. The staff are easy going. Do be mindful they run out of things. Last time we were there they were out of lumpia and halo halo. read more

Savory Fried chicken is a family favorite for many years! The food is always so good and delicious! We love ordering combo plates as my kids like different items. We love the fried chicken, pancit, spaghetti, Longanisa and my favorite Halo-Halo! This is also the closest Filipino restaurant to my home so it makes it easy for take out for dinners. If you are in the area, definitely give them a try! read more

The chicken is very good. My husband and I love their fried chicken, it's full of flavor and I really enjoy the gravy on the side. For 2 meals, it came out to be around $35. It's a great deal considering the portions are huge. We've never eaten inside but we plan on doing so. There's plenty of room to dine in and I appreciate the homey feel of the decor. The cashier was super nice and overall, I've never had an unfriendly encounter with any of their staff. Next time, I'll order dessert with my meal. read more

This place is wonderful. The chicken is delicious, moist, and fried perfectly. The garlic rice is not to be missed. We also got a spam plate with both fried and grilled spam. Grilled spam is the way to go. Don't miss this place. Service is wonderful and friendly. Don't expect fancy dinning just great food by good people. But remember this place is busy order ahead or prepare to wait but it is worth it. read more

I wish I could dine in this place. But I'll take to go or door dash. I love Filipino food and this place does chicken really well. I would say I have to knock odd a star because I feel the prices are a little steep for the amount of food you get. I would actually hope to get a little bit more rice. I was not the biggest fan of the gravy here, but maybe because I just prefer other places. The food is yummy and flavorful and I could see myself craving this a lot. read more

Tried ordering online but currently not accepting online orders. I did have to call several times to order by phone as it was constantly busy. Keep in mind they only do take out.My order was ready in 20 mins during lunch time which was great. I ordered their savory half fried chicken with gravy, longanissa with java rice and halo halo. The chicken and gravy was good. I didn't enjoy the longanissa it felt dry and the taste was just not good. Halo halo had more beans than I would like. I'd probably just get their fried chicken next time. read more
Review is for togo order, but man it was still really good! I got the glazed chicken which means its fried but with a thin layer of glaze. I exchanged the rice and side for pancit. My partner got the fried chicken with garlic rice and chicken lumpia. It was relatively cheap and the inside has tables and seats along the sides of the eating area. The food was delicious, they did run out of the gravy for one of the boxes and let us know by text when it was ready bc we waited in the car. Service was good from what we encountered. Would def recommend for a cheaper meal option. read more

5 Star for the Food 1 Star for the Dine-in experience I rarely give review however i think, it calls for management attention. We were looking for Filipino food and its our FIRST TIME to eat here at Savory. I have kids and Eldery seniors with me. We came in the resturant and I settled them on the table. They only have menu list no photo or descriptions, so I open my yelp to show my elderly parents photo of the food and servings to help them decide and get their orders..however... halfway browsing, the Guy at the cashier, called our attention from a far in a very loud voice, "Are you going to eat here?" " "You have to order here " "We are not going there!" with other customer looking towards us.. I was very surprised, with the demeanor.. So I just decided to walk to the counter unprepared of our order.. I did tell him that we were looking at the menu and pictures, but he did not even acknowledge... he seems so impatient in taking our order, and answering my questions on the menu.. but i let it pass... When they served our food at our table, My husband accidentally tipped over the flimsy styro cup and water spilled on the table and floor...my husband and I look around for help.. and saw the same cashier guy on his cellphone was just sitting right across us.. my husband was asking his help, he did not even move an inch.. look up, or even assist to call another staff... I dont know if he was just in a very bad mood or he is having a bad day.. but i wish he was a bit nicer.. I read tthey just started their dine-in recently but I just wish more accomodating and warm so you could atleast feel filipino hospitality... So sad.. I'll just do take out next time.. read more
we only got to try their halo halo this time but it was out of this world! stacked with mango and ube ice cream leche flan and my first time seeing ube halaya rimmed cup. service was good. and it was a small but clean and quaint spot. read more

Food is a 1000/10 for me! If you like Max's, you surely would love Savory! Service was good and fast. Food was super fresh and made with love. Didn't eat inside, but felt like I was in the Philippines when I was inside. read more
It's been a couple of years since I've had SFC and their food is still delicious. I used to do phone orders but now their online ordering system is better. It was easier to place an order and customize rice options: steamed, garlic or java. They also provide a text once the order is ready for pickup. I got their grilled chicken, fried chicken, chicken lumpia, pork lumpia, longanisa and taho. I would have ordered halo halo but the drive back to Lathrop was an hour. Their servings haven't changed, one plate is enough for two people. read more

Nope and it doesn't seem like they'll ever reopen for dine in. Shame. The pandemic has been over for a while but I guess they've gotten used to just operating via takeout.
