    Maui Mocha--phenomenal
    April S.

This was the best breakfast we've had in a long time! Definitely the best on the island. It was absolutely delicious and the Maui Mocha was the best latte I have ever had. Not too sweet. Perfectly balanced. We had the rebel bagel, loco moco (best loco moco we have ever had), and acai bowls. Also the best açaí we have had. It had a floral note to it. We wil definitely be back! Be prepared to wait in a line, but it loves quickly and it's completely worth the wait!!!

Super cute coffee spot in Old Koloa. Love the ambiance and the graphic design on the cups, sleeves, and stickers! I enjoyed their strawberry matcha, though it was heavier on the strawberry side than the matcha. Such adorable merch. The sugar free hazelnut latte with almond milk had a bit of a sour aftertaste though, may have been the syrup.

Went around noon and it wasn't crazy busy! Got a vanilla matcha latte. It was perfectly earthy. Very smooth. Staff was very sweet and welcoming. Didn't wait long for my drink and was able to sit and enjoy on a bench! Excited to come back here!

Of course when visiting Kauai, trying their coffee is a must! What better than the well known Java Kai!! Got the mac nut iced coffee and Maui mocha iced coffee and I must say that they were both delicious. The macadamia nut flavor subtly comes through with the rich blend of coffee with a pleasant aftertaste. The Maui mocha gradually grew on me with each sip. The mocha flavor compared to other mocha coffees I've had on oahu can best be compared to dark chocolate vs milk chocolate taste. As a person who prefers dark chocolate the Maui mocha tasted more bolder with a slight bitterness that worked well with the sweetness of the drink. The ambiance is outdoor seating and parking can be a bit of an issue as the location is a popular spot for tourists and locals. The service was above average. With the mass influx of customers at busy hours, the staff did their best to accommodate everyone's orders on time.

Wish we would have discovered this sooner on our trip. Outdoor seating where you find your own table. Friendly baristas and a really cool vibe. Coffee and food were tasty

Macadamia nut latte has the perfect amount of sweetness, and the servers were kind. I liked the patio seating to soak up the summer.

Pour over I had was not only tasty but rocket fuel which I loved. Got the Hawaiian French toast and the surfer girl subbing avocado for the bacon. For a little rained in but so worth it. Beware as with just about everything on an island, it's pricey, but high quality and for me at least , worth it. Barista was super nice.

Java Kai is the cutest! The service is quick for drinks and pretty quick for food! All the coffees are so dang good but the juice is amazing! The food is fresh and the surfer girl sandwich with caramelized onions with spinach pesto is so good! This location is all outdoor seating but they have umbrellas and plenty of seating. The ambiance is great and there are plenty of cute shops nearby to stroll after you eat!

Java Kai in Koloa is a super cute surf cafe serving up trendy healthy, and energizing dishes. I went in for breakfast. I tried the egg sandwich, pineapple French toast, and a cold brew with macadamia nut syrup. The service was super friendly, and every everybody who worked there was super chill and laid-back. Java Kai is a must do for breakfast/brunch on the island of Maui.

Hubby and I were up very early and on the hunt for some good iced coffee! Happened to see a guy walking with coffee in his hand and asked him where he got it! He pointed us in the right direction and told us it was by the little market. What a cute little spot and so glad they were open early! We both ordered a sugar free iced latte with extra half and half. It was really good! Definitely my new favorite coffee place while on the Island! Yum!!! :)

Fruit plate Portuguese Sausage + Egg Sandwich and coffee

Tried coming a couple times while staying in po'ipu....there was a line both times but we didn't try that hard. You can order online. We got the Portuguese egg sandwich that surprisingly had nuts in it, a fruit plate, and two coffees. Kid finished the fruit plate prob would not recommend the Portuguese ground sausage and egg sando. It is situated in a historic town which is cool and a good area to shop for souvenirs. Taste OK. Might come back if convenient but not going out of my way to.

What a great spot! When we arrived, there was a short line that moved quickly. The server was friendly and upbeat. I ordered the breakfast sandwich with coffee -- both were excellent, especially the sandwich. Sitting outside and looking out over historic Koloa Village, I couldn't help thinking about all the times I'd driven by without stopping. Now I wish I hadn't waited so long.

    Mac Nut Latte - Great!

I was shocked when I ate here because it's better than most places in Los Angeles (which has a huge food scene). So when I saw a huge line outside of Java Kai I knew it was probably going to be better than the other offerings in the area. The line moves quickly, so it is 100% worth it to wait. This place was so good that I just came here everyday for my breakfast. I didn't even want to try anything else. And as, a Yelper, as a foodie, I am all about trying new places but Java Kai was that good. The coffee is strong and they also roast it themselves. It's local Kauai coffee and it gives you the nice perk to get through all the site seeing we were doing. Normally I would list each item that I had and then rate them but I am not going to do that this time because they all are stand out. Choose what sounds best to you and it will will not dissapoint! I must mention though that their bakery, whoever makes the bagels, the broiche buns, and the muffins is top tier professional. The lemon ginger muffin and the lemon bar was out of this world. I am seriously considering another trip back to Kauai just to have more of those muffins. They had a DJ on Saturday that played electric music which kept it feeling kinda hip and happening. I would've preffered more chill music for the morning, and save the electric music for later in the day maybe. Nevertheless, the DJ was friendly.

I ordered a hot matcha latte with oat milk, and the matcha already comes pre-sweetened per the barista. It tastes very similar to Starbucks matcha, not horrible but not great either. A little too sweet for my liking and not enough of the matcha flavor comes through. The color also wasn't the correct shade of green for good quality matcha, but I'm someone who likes to make my matcha at home and rarely find ones at coffee shops that I actually like, so take my review with that in mind, if you're a casual matcha drinking then you would like their version. It doesn't dry your tongue out or have a bitter taste. The following day I decided to try their coffee and ordered a hot vanilla oat milk latte. It was just okay, the espresso is a little more on the acidic side and I couldn't taste any vanilla flavor. Definitely not the worst latte I've had in Hawaii, but for the cost of lattes nowadays, I wouldn't come back to try more of their menu until I try other local coffee shops first. Pros: Plenty of parking right out front, good amount of seating inside, clean bathrooms, wifi, they sell their coffee beans and merchandise including shirts and hats which are super cute, there is also a small shop inside the same building that sells clothing/candles/bags/etc and the store employee is super nice

No xbloom pour-overs being served, so I settled for pre-made drip. The barista was friendly enough but couldn't tell me anything about the coffees on her own menu -- origin, roast, process, nothing. She recommended a mac nut latte for my partner, which felt less like a recommendation and more like the only thing she was sure of. The drip came out fast and hot. That's the last nice thing I have to say. The latte comes from a second window, where a different employee was actively hostile. Busy morning, so I asked if the drink was mine. She snapped that my name was written on the cup. It was -- facing her. I was apparently supposed to read it through the cup. Here's the real problem: someone clearly put thought into the roasting side of this business, and then handed the entire customer-facing operation to people who received no training whatsoever. Not in the coffee, not in basic hospitality. You can teach someone to smile. You can teach them to answer a question without contempt. Nobody bothered. Average coffee, worse service, priced for people who won't be back anyway -- and given the volume of visitors, that model probably works fine for them. It won't work for me. Kauai has cafés run by people who are genuinely obsessed with what they're doing. Go find one of those. Serious coffee drinkers should walk right past this place.
