Stopped by Java Kai on a Wednesday morning around 8am, the lines were long but the service was speedy. We waited a bit to order, but our drinks came out quickly. The Mac Nut Lattes (both hot and iced) were super tasty. The Strawberry matcha was good, and not at all sweet. Prices are a bit high, but comparable to other spots we've visited on our trip. We also enjoyed the Surfer Girl breakfast sandwich and the breakfast burrito (not pictured). The surfer girl was amazing, with a very tasty pesto aioli. This is a must. Opens early and the food and drinks were so good. We came before our boat outing which was an early morning so it was nice that this place was open at 6. Not pictured was the food or drinks as it was early and we ate in the car while driving. Attached to the coffee is another business that doesn't open till later. We did stop here a second to check out the clothing store and get dessert but it was gone by the time we got back in tue afternoon. You know it's going to be good when it sells out. My wife and I shared a wonderful breakfast croissant and a breakfast sandwich with avocado toast. My boys had a breakfast burrito and we all shared an açaí bowl that was so good. Everything was tasty and fresh. The açaí was amazing killer. Of course this was on Kauai so it was very fitting and went well with our morning sunrise. Service was easy and quick. The coffee shop was poppin in the afternoon, Java Kai is a local coffee shop with great breakfast items including sandos and pastries. There is plenty of seating inside and outside, but inside fills up bc it's so hot! There is also a gift shop connected. The service was great considering how busy it was. We got a macadamia nut coffee iced and a pork breakfast burrito. This pork was incredibly good, the local pork is a must-try for sure. It was such a big burrito we barely finished it. My friends heard great things about Java Kai and said we had to make sure to stop by at one point. Well we all enjoyed our drinks and ended up coming by a second time during our trip! I got the iced mac nut latte both times. It was tasty and super refreshing on a hot day! Their drinks definitely run a little on the pricier side though. We didn't get a chance to try any of their food, so I can't speak to how their eats are. The interior is cute and trendy although a bit small, so it was pretty crowded when our large group came and stood in line. I can imagine those who were seating eating probably felt a bit cramped. We came by this location twice and both times there was a long line. You can order ahead to avoid waiting but there's a fee for doing so. Once you order, depending on how long the line was, it can take up to 10-15 minutes even for one drink. - DRINKS - Ube Special: This was a blended drink and although I love Ube and I love Vietnamese Coffee, this didn't taste great. The flavors got a bit muddled together and it ended up tasting like coconut cream and a splash of Vietnamese Coffee. Macadamia Nut Latte: I tried my friends latte and it was great, so I decided to order my own the second time we came here. It tasted different than my friends, almost like they missed a pump of mac syrup or something that made the drink not as flavorful. - OVERALL - Maybe I just got unlucky both times and my drinks weren't made properly, but they can make a good latte! Breakfast burritos were basically perfect (as Californians we are very critical about this food haha) and had fresh ingredients, crispy bacon, and a delicious sauce for dipping. I told one of the baristas and she said she would stick it in the microwave (what?). After its time in the microwave, it was still barely warm but she said a fresh brew would be ready in 6 minutes. Probably wouldn't go again unless it doesn't look very busy but just make sure to ask about the wait to set expectations cause it looked like a couple parties in the past and this day were thrown off by the wait time (even with the order ahead).
