Naughty List, Purple Haze, Lilikoi, Strawberry fields
    Melisa A.

Stopped by Holey Grail Donuts in Kapa'a mid-afternoon to grab a sweet treat for the family. We ordered four donuts: the Naughty List, Purple Haze, Lilikoi, and Strawberry Fields, along with a couple of coffees. One thing that really stood out was that the donuts are made to order, which is pretty impressive and definitely adds to the experience. The flavors were creative, and everything tasted fresh. The coffees were good too and paired nicely with the donuts. That said, these aren't your typical donuts. They're smaller than what you might expect and come with a higher price tag. The texture was also different from what I was anticipating. Rather than being light and fluffy, they were denser and chewy. Some people may love that, but it wasn't quite what I was looking for. The truck itself is located in a random parking lot, but there's plenty of parking, and it's easy to stop by. Overall, I can appreciate the quality ingredients and made-to-order concept, but the size, price, and texture didn't quite win me over.

A friend recommended I come here for donuts. She was raving about how it's one of her favorite memories from Kauai, and I can see why. These donuts are petite and delicious. They have more of a mochi texture than your classic donut, which I enjoyed. They're not too dense. Each donut is $4.50. We ordered 1 strawberry fields (local strawberries, green tea swirl) and 1 purple haze (ube, lilikoi). The flavors were amazing! They even change out the donut flavors seasonally. The staff kindly packaged them in to-go boxes for us when we said we planned to eat the donuts a little later. They also sell cute merch - shirts, hats, mugs, etc.

Ordered every donut available! Smaller than you'd think ima. Good way so you can get through them all. We had 6 people team up to enjoy these. Favorite was the lilikoi! Normally I worry that's too sweet but this was perfect

Incredible! The hot single is perfectly sweet and savory all at the same time! Served hot, fresh and delicious! Do not miss these Taro donuts while in Kauai. There is another location Princeville, as well. Both were phenomenal.

We loved Holey Grail Donuts! The donuts were made fresh right in front of us and you could truly taste the difference. Warm, soft, and so flavorful. The Original Sin is an absolute MUST definitely one of the best donuts we've had in Kauai!

Tried out Holey Grail Donuts in Kapaʻa and I get why people like it. The donuts have a texture that feels different in a good way. Crisp on the outside and soft on the inside, which really stood out to me. They rotate flavors pretty often and use local Hawaiian ingredients like lilikoi, which keeps things interesting without feeling gimmicky, like adding a random flower on top of a rice plate dish. It's the kind of place where you can try something new or just stick with flavors that sound good or familiar to you. Service was quick, and the food truck setup in the parking lot makes it an easy stop if you're already in the area. Definitely worth checking out if you're on Kauai and want something a little different from the usual donut spots.

Made to order doughnuts! They came out piping hot with local flavors. The cocoa nibs were not my favorite for a doughnut topping. I would recommend the passionfruit!

Have seen them on social media for quite a while, but had never gotten to stop in. Finally got to today! We got a 4 pack so we could try a few, and a couple of iced coffees. The donuts- the original sin and the lilikoi are two of the best donuts we've ever had. Perfect balance of flavor- hot, sticky and yummy. If you are from Portland, think of Phipps donuts with Hawaiian flavors. So good. The purple haze and the chocolate crunch were both good too. Its just that the first two were jaw dropping. No complaints on any of them. The coffees were OK. My first couple of sips were better than it seemed after a few minutes. Maybe the ice watered it down quickly? Anyway- this place is so good! If you are in Lihue or Kapaa definitely stop by!

Made to order donuts, warm and moist. Outdoor seating underneath the little roof, in case rain comes. Hot coffee was a bit sour.

If there's one thing to say about Holey Grail, is that its aptly named.....these donuts are a religious experience. Made to order with fresh Hawaiian ingredients, these donuts are everything donuts were meant to be. We arrived around 8 in the morning, and found no line and almost no wait for our 6 donuts. While they were all delicious, make sure you try the Lilikoi! One thing to note: these donuts are a quite a bit smaller than your typical Krispy Kreme. (Another reason to try as many as possible!)

Welp. Bitter sweet moment, our last stop before arriving at the airport. And the one place i had been wanting to visit the most during our trip, but due to family coordination, I only had it once. It was a bit of a rushed moment, but we made the most of it. Just as advertised by my instagram algorithm prior to the trip from California. Truly delicious and outright fresh. This particular stand was in front of the road, that was the scenery, tourists and locals just driving and riding by. It was peaceful despite the notion of pressure we felt to hurry up and making the plane. My only complaint is the disparity between pricing and advertising. If you look through the social media and even their images in these menus, the donuts lack that same visual look. Other than that, if i had the opportunity to buy them again, i would for taste and quality.

We tried these donuts on our first day in Kauai and then we had them every single day that we were there!!! The textures, the light airy fresh hot donut, the tropical flavors were all a hit with our family! My daughter preferred the classic while we loved the passionfruit, guava and original sin (maple). I highly recommend trying them and also having them daily as calories on vacation don't count! The coffee (macadamia) was also very good! There is limited parking in the food truck compound - they have an app where you get points etc for ordering and you can order ahead. The wait time is usually 5-10 mins as they make each order on demand. The price is also reasonable- with discounts on bulk orders.

Popular menu items include ahi katsu 10/10, chili pepper chicken 9/10, and Hawaii's own- loco moco (not a huge fan in general). They offer a variety of other options, including poke, ramen, and sandwiches, with convenient takeout and delivery available. It's definitely a local favorite due to its generous portions, authentic Hawaiian cuisine and friendly service. We ordered the fried chicken and poke combo with wonton chips and the ahi katsu (my absolute fav). The ahi was fried to perfection- crispy on the outside while rare and tender on the inside. The sauce on the katsu was absolutely fire!!! So good! Macaroni salad was creamy and delicious. And the rice was perfect. Obviously, you cannot visit Hawaii without having some of their poke- always fresh and delightfully tasty. The marinade was savory and packed with flavor.

Its right off a main road and you cannot miss it. Parking lot was a bit small, but there was plenty of parking. AMBIANCE: When I went there was plenty of seating. A bit dead, but I also did go pretty early. There were a bunch of decor of older American pop culture like Bruce Lee, Chuck Norris, etc. But also Hawaiian themed decor (obviously). SERVICE: You gotta walk up to the front to order. I was approached almost immediately as soon as I walked up to the menu on the screen. The girl working was super friendly and welcoming. I made my order and she gave me a pager for when my food was ready. FOOD: I ordered the chili pepper chicken, which was recommended from the girl at the counter. My friend ordered the ahi katsu. The chili pepper chicken was good! It was crispy and extremely flavorful. It was slightly too salty for my taste, but luckily the rice does help balance it out. Some of the crispness was sacrificed for the sauce, but it was overall still pretty crispy. I loved that they used boneless chicken thigh. I was expecting bones or lots of breading but it actually had a perfect ratio. I wasn't much a fan of the mac salad. It was like a mix of mac and potato salad, but more like a potato salad. I'm not big on potato salad, so that makes sense. My friend's ahi katsu was alright in my opinion. The sauce that's on it was good and enjoyed all the flavors. The tuna was just a bit overcooked to my liking, but idk how else one would make a katsu without overlooking it too much. Maybe bread the fish and freeze it before frying? Idk man, I'm not a chef lol but the tuna would definitely be better if it was less cooked. OVERALL: Honestly, I would still come here again. I still enjoyed the meal and the service was pretty quick. Both items were both worth trying. All the flavors were there and the little things I didn't like were just personal preferences. Its a great place to pick up a lunch plate and enjoy it at the beach.

I've been dying to try their Big Island location on past trips but never made it happen. Since they don't take reservations, I was fully expecting a long wait arriving around 12:30 PM on a Friday, but we were pleasantly surprised to be seated right away. While most people sat in the covered patio area, we opted to sit right outside with our feet in the sand, because why not?! The beach view is unbelievable, and the breeze kept us perfectly comfortable without feeling too hot. Hubs and I were both craving fish, so I ordered the fish tacos and he got the fish and chips. Everything was so good! Honestly some of the best battered fish I've had in a really long time. Add in a cocktail to kick off the vacation, and it made for the ultimate welcome lunch to Kauaʻi. Between the food and the incredible vibes, this place set the perfect tone for our weekend trip. Will definitely be back!

For dinner, we ordered the Hawaiian pizza and chef's veggies to share. The pizza was topped with kalua pork, pineapple, scallions, and a unique sauce. Pretty good. We wanted to eat some greens so we asked about the chef's veggies. It was roasted broccoli, bell pepper, and squash. Delicious and seasoned well. For drinks, I ordered a green-tini and my mom got a virgin lava lava flow. I actually preferred her drink over mine. The green-tini had a nice kick to it. Can definitely taste the jalapeño. The virgin lava lava flow was sweet and creamy. Perfect way to end the night! The restaurant and bar definitely get crowded, but there's plenty of space inside and outside. You can get a nice view of the beach. The weather is always good, so we sat outside. The bartender was also super kind and checked on us multiple times to see if we needed anything else. It can feel a little touristy, but I still think it's worth a visit.
