Popo's Cookies - Chocolate Chip Macadamia Nut
    Jackie C.

Popo's Cookies was a cute little shop on Kauai. It's tucked in the back behind a couple other businesses, so a little hard to find. The cookies were very yummy! We picked up a couple bags when we went into the shop. The cookies are harder cookies but have plenty of flavor that burst in your mouth. There's only 2 people allowed inside because of COVID and the space is so small. The lady working inside was super friendly and nice. Definitely stop by Popo's Cookies when you're on Kauai.

This is a cute little cookie shop. The cookies are terrific - especially the coconut cookies and the chocolate chip macadamia cookies. These are crisp cookies. The person at the counter was not in a good mood but it was a hot day and she looked like she had a long one already. I will be back for more of the coconut cookies. Price was $5.75 per bag in July 2023. No discount for buying multiple bags.

Great little cookie shop with delicious light, crunchy cookies!! The owners: Erin & Kevin are wonderful people who are very passionate about their shop and put out very good cookies!! We especially enjoyed the chocolate chip macadamia nut cookies, chocolate chip, and butter cookies. Ambiance here is super clean, organized and fun with the shop tucked behind the main road in a little alley area with outside tables and other eateries nearby. Highly recommend checking them out and plz say hello to the owners!!

We were walking around town and happened to be lured in by the sweet smell of butter! My aunt and I stopped in and purchased a few bags and she even scooped some "butter dreams"' off the pan and put them in the bag! Erin was kind enough to leave the bag unsealed as we paid for our goods and proceeded to munch down the entire bag on the way back to the car. Somehow we left a morsel for the others to try, and the first bite sealed the deal! We hauled ourselves back out of the car to go get more!!! These cookies are so buttery, crunchy, and delicious yet so simple with pure ingredients! Alllsooo if you are like us and are pursuit while on the islands for cornflake cookies, look no further!! Such a hidden gem and so excited we found them!

This is still the best cookies in Kauai. Our family favorites are the Chocolate Chip Macadamia Nut Cookie and the Macadamia Nut Shortbread Cookie. This is an absolute must stop when visiting Kauai. You will not be disappointed.

    Mother enjoying Popo's cookies

Came here as a quick stop for a sweet treat before our flight. Cookies were good, shop was small but cute! The employee was nice and we were in and out quick. As for the cookies themselves, everyone loved them. We got peanut butter, chocolate macadamia, and keola deelites. Would recommend this place to anyone hanging out in Hanapepe!

Almond cookie! Tastes traditional and I enjoyed the almond flavor

We were wandering around around Hanapepe during its Art Night (every Friday 5-8pm), and followed the signs for Popo's Cookies. With live music playing in a beautiful & quaint courtyard, we were already greeted with a lovely ambience. A really nice couple owns the shop! After buying the almond cookies, we tried the butter cookie samples and they were SO GOOD. So I'm definitely going to come back for the different flavors. I got almond because "Popo" means grandma in Chinese, and I wanted to try Chinese cookies. I really enjoyed reading the history of Popo's Cookies through their website and through others' reviews here! It's an establishment with lots of history, preserved by the currently owners.

These are my favorite crispy chocolate chip cookies -- ever. Each time I come to visit the island I have to stop and buy a bag, or 10

The sammich just didn't pack the level of flavor that one would expect. It came with a side of fries, which were actually not bad and pretty tasty. They were a little on the oily side but honestly, I wasn't even mad at that since I needed some flavor to come from somewhere. Food aside, the vibe of this place was definitely off. The person taking our order did not seem the be the friendliest person and came off rather stand-offish. Lastly, buyers beware. If you let it be known that you will be splitting a food item, they will charge you an additional $2.50. Typically, when places do this, it comes with a larger portion for each split of the dish, but this was not the case for us. They took the normal portion, charged as the additional fee, and have us no extra food. 2/5 and would not come back.

It's such a cute little mom-and-pop spot, super welcoming and simple in the best way. The second you walk in, it just feels warm and genuine. In town for the day simply to show me an investment property my family and I might be interested in the very near future, before she departed she had to pick up an order of pies to bring back to her family. Of course, I came along for the ride because I liked pie, but I was curious how good they were if she was willing to fly several of them in her carry-on. Founded by Sandy in October 2009, she quickly adjusted her business model from doing six community events a week to her first retail location in Lihue in 2011. The business continued to grow that led to a second location this time in Kalaheo in 2014. Fast-forward to today, the Kalaheo store is the only one standing, and she has cultivated a strong following both near and far of pie fans and the continued support of the local community. Did I choose the right slice for my first time here!? PURCHASE(S) Mango Lilikoi Pie Slice ($8.50): Their most popular pie, they had me at mango! Made with a ton of island macadamia nuts, roasted to a perfect golden brown combined with butter, eggs, sugar, and fresh spices for a nutty tropical sensation, this pie reminded me of a pecan pie but so much better! The care and pride was tasted in each incredible bite, and I wished I had one to bring back with me after I ate each slice back at the resort. Everything tasted phenomenal, the prices may've been a tad high (but well worth it!), and the service was calming and straightforward.
