It was a Sunday afternoon and we wanted to check out some Kauai food places. We were surprised that Kauai chocolate company was open late on a Sunday. We found a nice large parking lot on the back side of the store. We were the only patrons there for a few moments but then it became a bustling place. It's a small shop with a few chocolate items. They also have ice cream and other local made products like Kauai Kookie company and Auntys lilikoi dressing.there were also handmade soaps, candles, and cards. They offer turtles which are chocolate, caramel, and Mac nuts in milk and dark. But I didn't realize they also have something different: opihi. Which is a short bread, with caramel and Mac nut, covered in chocolate. That was a fun little treat!! They have gift boxes of those in milk, dark, and mixed chocolate. A perfect omiyage or gift to bring back home to family, friends, or coworkers. Service was quick once two people were up at the front. If a lot of people are coming in for ice cream, it slows the line down a bit. Make sure to stop in if you are passing by. It's a quick way off the main road and a real treat!

Located on the strip mall down in Port Allen. Corner of the main drag across from the brewery and grill. Locally made ice cream, specialty chocolates and little takeaways. Onolicious everything!

OMGGGGGG!!! All the numerous times I've been on this island this is my first time trying these chocolates ???!!!!!! I have missed out!!! OPIHI Chocolate consists of layers of shortbread cookie, caramel, and macadamia nut dipped in chocolate. Dark or Milk Chocolate I enjoyed every single bite of these chocolates!! The macadamia nut is huge, the shortbread cookie is buttery.. this creation is decadent!!! Pure deliciousness!!! I can't wait to come back to get some more delicious chocolates!!! What a treat!!!! Hold on.. I can order some on line!! Yes!! I don't have to wait!! Thank you!!!!

Kauai Chocolate Company is a popular destination for chocolate lovers on the island of Kauai, they offer a wide range of handcrafted chocolates, truffles, and other sweet treats, even old fashion ice cream. What happen here, I visit Kauai so often, how can I not visit Kauai Chocolate Company or have not been here. hehe?! I remember having their chocolates years ago when we received these omiyages at the office so when I had the chocolate & samples again it sure brought back memories! I have to say Kauai Chocolate Company is very addicting, had to get out of there quick after you visit. Even though there's a note in front glass on the ice cream, stating " vacation calories does not count" I wish!! After samples, getting my chocolate opihi stash and darn after sampling the opihi ice cream I had to get a scoop, regret not getting more than one scoop but I was worried about the vacation calories. Enjoying my scoop of opihi ice cream with my other half who can't have sweets, sharing is caring but next time I am getting an extra scoop no matter the calories. Opihi ice cream consist of caramel flavored base with shortbead cookies, macadamia nuts, and chocolate shavings, Wow. oh so good, I can say the same for the opihi chocolates. Kauai Chocolate Company is located at the Port Allen Marina Center, tons of parking and check out Hanapepe ( swinging bridge) the businesses ( Ex. The Right Slice, Kauai Kookie, Kauai Coffee) and glass beach nearby since you are in the area. If you are planning to visit Kauai, stopping by this business is a must do for any chocolate lover, & Kama'aina discount is 5%. Thank you to the wonderful other half, for taking me here. For now I will have to enjoy my stash one bite at a time before I can visit here again.

    They have ice cream too

Little shop with lots of wonderful aromas and tastes! Stop in and grab a sweet before / after your boat/snorkel tour. They have items that make a nice take home gift / souvenir.

We actually went to store across the street from Kauai Island Brewery on Waialo Road. They give little samples and it's pretty pricey but the quality is there so bought a few boxes.

We were told about this company because of this cookie. I didn't have high hopes for it but I blew me away. The high cost was worth the price. I'm def going back next trip for more.

My friend who used to live on Kauai suggested we stop here. It's a small shop and you can see the workers making the chocolates behind the counter. After getting an explanation of the various chocolates, I decided on a box of mixed opihi, and another box with some caramel covered chocolate with Mac nuts, a peanut butter chocolate bar, and. Mocba chocolate bar. We we came into the shop, we were the only ones there, but by the time we left it was crowded. It's a popular place! Several people were buying the ice cream and on my next visit, I'll be sure and get some. A cute little shop and nice to support local businesses on Kauai.

A coworker mentioned having tried a "chocolate-covered opihi". My nose wrinkled, my mouth frowned, yet I was curious as to how it tasted. As I inquired further, she said it's not what I was thinking and laughed, meaning they're not made with the local delicacy limpets that are found on coastline rocks. Aww, shucks! Fast forward a few days and I found myself at a birthday dinner where one of the attendees bought everyone a box of chocolate opihi! MENU: Bricks & clusters, chocolate-covered "opihi", brownies, mac nuts, pretzels & marshmallows, cocoa mix, fudge and toffee. THE GOODS: Opihi (milk chocolate, 6 pcs.) - $11.99 I forgot what said coworker described was inside, so I was going in clueless. The bottom is a miniature Kauai Kookie-brand cookie, then a smear of caramel and topped with a whole macadamia nut, all covered in creamy milk chocolate (dark is also available). It's good but I'm not a fan of caramel so I didn't love it. Definitely recommended for sweet-toothed folks though. OVERALL: Every major Hawaiian island has a snack or goodie that's unique to them. Here's to another!

Kauai Chocolates is hands down one of my favorite stops on the island. Their Opihi Ice Cream is absolutely incredible--creamy, rich, and full of that unique local flavor you can't find anywhere else. You can really taste the love and quality in every bite. It's the perfect treat after a beach day or just because. The staff is always friendly and welcoming, and the whole shop has that warm, small-town charm. If you're ever on Kauai, do yourself a favor and stop by. You won't regret it!

Maybe 15 people max before it gets too crowded. They had some odd hours. They were closed on 10/6 without any notice but a sign on the door. We wanted to come back but couldn't reach anyone on the phone on 10/7 to make sure the drive there wasn't wasted. Thankfully the Gaylord residence was able to ask someone working there and they mentioned being open till 3:30, opposite of their voicemail which said 5 pm. Wis their hours were a bit more consistent. The shop has caramel which come in 6 different flavors and we got to sample some. They also have chocolate covered caramel, pretzels, pineapple, apples, and bark. If food isn't your thing, they have apparel like shorts, aprons, towels, mugs, cards, cups, coloring books, and hats. There is a small window you can see where they make the caramel. The macchiato caramel was soft and coffee flavored. The perfect mix of sweet and salty. The Oreo caramel apple was good as well. The caramel was soft and very thin around the apple so it felt more like eating an apple versus something covered in sticky caramel. Make sure to check the bottom of the bag if you plan to share these. Some batches had only a month and nothing past 2 months. If you are heading over to the Gaylord property and want to visit the sweet shop, make sure to call ahead.

10/28/24 Must have passed by this tiny shop more than a couple dozen times-never knew it was here!!…read more The reviews were pretty accurate about its size, perhaps a room/space for 3-4 maximum (if you're all related & fairly intimate enough to share the personal space). It has a refrigerated showcase/display that features their array of delectable delights. The cacao is grown about10 minutes away from the shop & a picture hangs on the wall (see photo) of the lady, Ms. Mitchell, who makes all the chocolates. This is according to Debra, the lady tending to the shop. I had my heart set on (3 piece @ $7.00) Dark & Stormy plus the 70% Cacao Truffle Turtles (3 piece for $8.50, unless I mixed up the prices). One for the road, Coffee Drop, &2.75 per piece just to try. It was very good, smooth, not overly sweet but I could not detect the coffee taste, but it was quite delectable. Imagine the dimensions of 8 x 8 ft of a shop, the display case at the center towards the back a tad. If you're facing the case, another display case (shelf, no refrigerated) will be on your left with cacao nibs packages. There's a metal bench in front of the shop under the awning of the structure. Debra was personable & attentive. She mentioned that the hours have changed to 12 noon to 5 pm daily. Additionally, she said they've expanded the shop about a square foot recently. I love supporting local businesses & this place gets the thumbs up. FYI, keep the treats cold, they're delicate, or eat them quickly--no problem there. Hahaha Luckily we have a cooler in the car to keep them chilled.

Well, we finally pulled the trigger on it and did the experience...and it was well worth it. Lance, the owner and instructor was fantastic. With only 8 spots available, you have to book this as soon as it is available. The shop is only 300 sq. Ft. So any more people would be too much and the set up was perfect. It is amazing this small space produces the chocolate! The overall lesson is great because he takes you from bean to chocolate. This is not tree to chocolate because he doesn't have the trees nor does he have the pods and that part of the collection process (however, Lance, if you or your wife are reading this, it might be a great future endeavor to have an option to work with one of your partners and add on the collection tour before!). While he doesn't have the collection process, Lance does an excellent job speaking to the process once beans are collected. From there, the chocolate making and tasting process is thoroughly explained and you are part of it. Finally, making your chocolate is a lot of fun and there are roughly 30 ingredients you can use for your 2 bars. I personally made: an Indian spice flavor chocolate for half a bar, coconut sea salt for second half, matcha coconut sea salt for 3rd half, and coffee bean sea salt for last). Bring your creativity! Thank you Lance for this fantastic experience.
