    She took my banana bread.
    Brian M.

This a great little bakery in the Warehouse. It has a Mexican - Hawaiian fusion vibe - likely because the owner is from TJ. The employee who helped us was so nice. She told us all about the store including the awesome sprinkle bar for your cupcakes. We opted for a piece of banana bread, and it was amazing. Probably the best I have ever had. Soft and delicious. Looking forward to my next visit.

The best cake I've ever had! The macadamia nut and butter cream was so good! I would recommend anyone getting married in Kauai to get a cake from here :) it was so delicious and the flowers turned out perfect too.

I emailed Alfred a week and a half before needing a cake for my daughters birthday, and boy did he deliver! I sent him a photo of what I wanted and asked him to add his own twist on it. He was so easy to communicate with and his work is so awesome. I am so glad I found him! The day of pick up was a breeze, he was able to meet me an hour earlier then I originally asked. He was very nice and really does the best at cakes. I am definitely gonna use him for all my cake needs. You should too

3 tier strawberries and cream cake by @sugarskull

I hired Alfred to do our 3-tier wedding cake and is very happy we did. The quality cake we had was for a great price, he included a cake stand for us to use and delivered on site at our reception. He was very easy to work with, always prompt in meeting us and always quick to reply to any questions we had. I had an idea and a photo I found online on how we wanted our cake to be and he met our expectations real well. Our wedding cake wasn't only what I pictured it to be but also very delicious. We had the strawberries and cream cake and enjoyed it very much. From the detailing that was put into our cake, to the moist texture and taste, it was everything we wanted and more! My husband and I would definitely recommend Alfred of sugar skull!

    Gender reveal cake

We hired Alfred for the second time, the first time for our wedding and this time for our gender reveal party. My wife and I enjoyed our wedding cake so much that we had to have Alfred create our gender reveal cake. Alfred was easy to work, always prompt in replying to our messages and delivered on time for our party and was able to lend us a cake stand to display our cake for our party. The cake was exactly what we pictured it to be and our guests loved the way the cake looked and taste and we couldn't agree more!! We are always satisfied with Alfred's work and would definitely recommend him for anyone looking for good quality cakes on Kauai!

    Wedding cake 8/16

Awesome cake and cream puffs! We contacted Alfred with less than a month from our wedding date and he was able to pull it off for us and it was amazing. Everyone LOVED the cream puffs. We ordered chocolate, vanilla and lilikoi. They looked and tasted amazing. The cake topped it all off. We ordered a two tier with topper and flowers and I left the design up to Alfred and we couldn't have been happier with the result. Thank you Alfred for the hard work in preparing and for delivering to our party ahead of time!

Sugar a skull is a very cute little bakery. We got a brownie, a Carmel bar, and coconut macaroons. Everything was very tasty!

My search is finally over for the "best" peanut butter and ginger cookies I've ever tasted. They are absolutely amazing! Lost of people make cookies, but Sarah's of Cravings are truly just outstanding! From those first two bites I was wanting more - and fully indulged myself several times over while on the island! Cravings has a wonderful variety of organic foods, and their produce is so fresh and flavorful. Their granola also has a reputation of its own as being world-class. When you're on the island, please don't miss the opportunity to find Cravings of Kilauea. I'll be back there again this year and you can bet they'll be one of the top things on my list of things to stock up on!

My Filipino in me was so happy especially when I saw that halo-halo. This store got lotsa snacks for the road. They got deli that includes cold wrap & sandwiches, lemonade, boba drinks and smoothies and some Filipino groceries that reminds me of home. I got muncher (a Filipino green peas snack) and a can of Filipino corned beef. I also got banana turon paired with fresh buko. It heart was so happy. The Filipino couple who owned the store was so friendly and are the happiest to talk to. Ate & Kuya I'll be back! Mahalo for reading & happy juandering fellow yeeps!

We stumbled across a really cute variety store after going to the Coconut Corner across the street…read more The shop is owned by a really cute mom and pop and they have many great options for folks that I think are superior to the options at Coconut Corner. They offer fruit smoothies that are much bigger than those across the street - $8 for 20 oz of fresh fruit smoothies instead of $9 for like 10 ounces across the street. They also offer other desserts like boba teas and halo halo, which we found to be very delicious and very reasonably priced. This would be great place to stop by before or after your hike at Waimea for baked goods, trail mix/chips, sandwiches and/or teas and dessert. I would highly consider ordering sandwiches and snacks to-go and then having them on my hike. I also ordered a malasadas and bought some trail mix for the road - all packaged by 4tea. I think the price points are great and the owners are very kind. However, I noticed the downside of this store is the small signage, which I couldn't even see eating at Island Taco. But what we did was park near Island Taco (since they do not have their own lot but instead they share the lot with a private homeowner). So I would park on the street or nearby and walk over. Alongside the trail mix, they also have fruit candies, chips, bakery items, and sandwiches of all kinds - all very reasonably priced. It's hard because this place does not have seating, but you can easily grab this food to go and enjoy it at a beach nearby like Salt Pond Park. I hope this business does well and that they get more foot traffic, which is why I'm writing this thorough review, noticing that they aren't on Yelp yet - Hope this local business does well!

In town for the day simply to show me an investment property my family and I might be interested in the very near future, before she departed she had to pick up an order of pies to bring back to her family. Of course, I came along for the ride because I liked pie, but I was curious how good they were if she was willing to fly several of them in her carry-on. Founded by Sandy in October 2009, she quickly adjusted her business model from doing six community events a week to her first retail location in Lihue in 2011. The business continued to grow that led to a second location this time in Kalaheo in 2014. Fast-forward to today, the Kalaheo store is the only one standing, and she has cultivated a strong following both near and far of pie fans and the continued support of the local community. Did I choose the right slice for my first time here!? PURCHASE(S) Mango Lilikoi Pie Slice ($8.50): Their most popular pie, they had me at mango! Filled with plump juicy mangoes combined with the just right amount of lilikoi (passionfruit) and topped with a sugar crust. Juicy sweetness burst in every bite, and I was in pure heaven! https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?userid=8jVT2inwc8GIQ6sH2UG9Vw&start=120&select=-IUMWv6HB5wpv9AiQ-Y_bg Macadamia Nut Pie Slice ($8.50): This time, they had me at macadamia! Made with a ton of island macadamia nuts, roasted to a perfect golden brown combined with butter, eggs, sugar, and fresh spices for a nutty tropical sensation, this pie reminded me of a pecan pie but so much better! It was heavy, thick, and required a cold glass of milk to perfectly pair it with. I went nuts for this pie! https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?userid=8jVT2inwc8GIQ6sH2UG9Vw&start=120&select=JfthjT1sMLgeXqbfMPGzhA To-Go Containers ($0.50 x2): For my dessert, I've never been charged this before, but I understood businesses needed to cut/pass along costs as much as possible - c'est la vie. Credit Card Surcharge 3.00% ($0.57): Another pass-along fee that has become more prevalent - oh well. SERVICE I was warmly greeted by a young woman behind the counter who gave me time to review the menu while she offered recommendations. Once I ordered, my items were quickly packed and ready to go - mahalo! PARKING (FREE): We were lucky to grab one of the five small spots in front of their shop (it was very difficult to back out due to the heavily-trafficked thoroughfare). Otherwise, I wasn't sure where else you could park nearby - be prepared. OVERALL The Right Slice offered magical pies both savory and sweet (I must return to try a savory one!) all made from scratch and with a ton of love. The care and pride was tasted in each incredible bite, and I wished I had one to bring back with me after I ate each slice back at the resort. Everything tasted phenomenal, the prices may've been a tad high (but well worth it!), and the service was calming and straightforward. Plus, I always loved to try and support small local mom & pop businesses. I found complete value based on the prices, service, and experience noted above (TOTAL paid experience was around $19.00 BEFORE any discounts, points usage, and/or tip). And, they accepted my credit card of choice... AMEX! 5.0 STARS
