I got my incredibly gorgeous Halloween cookies from the truly amazing artist that is Carol Saiki at https://www.facebook.com/TheSugarGalleryKauai I had a great talk story with her when I picked up my cookies yesterday. She is an amazing culinary artist that supersedes any baker I've ever dealt with here on Kauai. Please check out her FB page and give her a like! Mahalo Carol for your artistry! She's also at the Wed. afternoon P-ville Farmers' Market at the Makai Golf Course!

There are not enough words to express how much we appreciate, Carol. I was looking for someone to make my daughter's wedding cake and I happened upon her via the internet. Greatest find ever!! It was a destination wedding so the planning was a little tricky. Carol was truly a Godsend. She spent an endless amount of time helping me figure out countless details including the transportation and care of the cupcakes/cakes, how to serve them, how to present them beautifully and how to keep them from melting in the warm July climate. Carol's work was not only beautiful and better than we imagined, but the cakes were delicious. Our guests were raving about how good they were. I started this wedding planning looking for someone to help us with our cake and came away from the wedding as a huge fan of Carol. She was truly one of the best parts of our wedding experience. Thank you for EVERYTHING, Carol. You are a gem on this sweet island of Kauai.

I was at a Farmers market in Princeville on December 22, 2021 when I noticed a bakery stand. I found a slice of pineapple cheesecake and bought one. I then got myself a business card with the name The Sugar Gallery. The slice of cheesecake was delicious.

Saw Carols ad on Kauai Buy and Sell and messaged her if I could order Bridal Shower Cookies for my daughters shower. She provided the most perfect cookie we asked for. You need cookies for any occasion, call this wonderful lady, she'll create it for you just the way you want it! Thank you again Carol! You will definitely be my cookie lady from now on.

Carol is amazing and makes the best cakes and cookies!!! They are beautiful and delicious!!! We use her for all our family celebrations. She recently made an adorable assortment of cookies and a cake for my son's first bday - she nailed it.

Carol was wonderful to work with! I found her on yelp and contacted her (only a month before!) my sister's wedding to see if she could make her a cake. Carol was so helpful with her suggestions and she always responded very quickly to any questions I had. We chose 3 flavors for the cake - chocolate with raspberry filling, red velvet and lilikoi. They were all delicious! Carol did a great job of using a fresh lei to decorate the cakes. She even delivered the cakes to the reception in Kapaa! Thank you Carol!

Our chocolate cake with haupia filling was not only delicious, but it was also beautiful. It was exactly what I wanted. Thank you, Carol!

I found this incredible baker at an artisan market, and fate was smiling on me that day. My group purchased two slices of pie, Hawaiian sweet potato and chocolate haupia. We sampled the pieces after walking away, and immediately went back to the stand to purchase additional pieces. We also tried the chocolate rum macadamia nut pie, another excellent life choice. Days later we couldn't stop thinking about this pie, and contacted the baker to determine where we could acquire more. What happened next was some of the best customer service I have encountered. The fine baker not only let me know where she would be hosting her stand next, but she also let me know that I could pick up pie from her home at my convenience. Obviously, we could not wait. I apologize that there are bites taken from the accompanying photos. Waiting was simply not an option.

We stopped by on a Tuesday around 8:30AM and got our pick of malasadas to try out! Kauai Bakery is located in a shopping plaza with plenty of ample parking, making it very easy to stop by and grab some delicious pastries. Service is like your typical bakery, you pick what you would like and they get it to you so you can stuff your face immediately after purchase. Ambiance is cozy with plenty of pastries to pick from in the large display case. We got 4 flavors of Malasadas for $16, which is $4 per doughnut, which I think is a decent price for the size and heft. The flavors we sampled were Lilikoi, Coconut, and Guava - out of these flavors, the coconut one was my personal favorite! The flavor was exactly what I would want anything coconut cream flavor should taste, creamy texture with a pleasant coconut taste that didn't taste artificial at all. It captured the floral background taste that is missing from a lot of coconut desserts that makes coconut so pleasing to eat! The Lilikoi one was my next favorite, it had a slight tartness and a more subtly pronounced flavor - I think I was looking for something stronger personally. Lastly was the guava one, which actually tasted a bit artificial and didn't have a pronounced flavor at all, which was unfortunate. Despite this critique, I would still glady inhale 2 or 3 of them because the dough was really pillowy and really enjoyable to eat. I think that the pastries here (at least the malasadas) are very solid and priced competitively vs most things here on Kauai. I would totally come back to get several more of the malasadas as well as try the other pastry options on the menu. Stop by and give this bakery a try if you are in the area!

They offer fruit smoothies that are much bigger than those across the street - $8 for 20 oz of fresh fruit smoothies instead of $9 for like 10 ounces across the street. They also offer other desserts like boba teas and halo halo, which we found to be very delicious and very reasonably priced. This would be great place to stop by before or after your hike at Waimea for baked goods, trail mix/chips, sandwiches and/or teas and dessert. I would highly consider ordering sandwiches and snacks to-go and then having them on my hike. I also ordered a malasadas and bought some trail mix for the road - all packaged by 4tea. I think the price points are great and the owners are very kind. However, I noticed the downside of this store is the small signage, which I couldn't even see eating at Island Taco. But what we did was park near Island Taco (since they do not have their own lot but instead they share the lot with a private homeowner). So I would park on the street or nearby and walk over. Alongside the trail mix, they also have fruit candies, chips, bakery items, and sandwiches of all kinds - all very reasonably priced. It's hard because this place does not have seating, but you can easily grab this food to go and enjoy it at a beach nearby like Salt Pond Park. I hope this business does well and that they get more foot traffic, which is why I'm writing this thorough review, noticing that they aren't on Yelp yet - Hope this local business does well!
