Cool hats! Which one you gettin'
Lance L.

We CAME for the Spices.... But we STAYED for Shaka Pops. And then we stayed just a tad bit longer for not 1 bag, but TWO bags of their Jerky Crisps Teriyaki flavored beef jerky. We stayed so long, and enjoyed the jerky so much that we were like... oh hey look, they sell spices here! Haha, just kidding. Maybe. Probably. Not really. ------------------------- Smack dab in the middle of Hanapēpē... Aloha Spice Company is a must stop when coming to this cute town; the birthplace of Disney's Lilo & Stitch. And if you're a Lilo & Stitch fan... Make sure to check out the mural dedicated to these two characters (pun intended) as well as the store that has tons of L&S merch. As for those who need a little spice in their life, or just want to do a little shopping, the Aloha Spice Co. has some really cool things just for you! Whether you are in search of... Cool hats with fun designs, Hawaiian maps, Hawaiian pancake mix, Hawaiian coffee beans, Hawaiian hot sauce, Hawaiian mustard, jelly, or vinaigrettes, Hawaiian inspired spices, accessories for your four-legged friends, magnets, stickers, Knick Knacks, or the best crispy beef jerky ever.... Aloha Spice Company is your place! And the best part... Besides the Shaka Pops.... Once you finish shopping here for all the goodies listed above, you are directly at the start of Hanapēpē's BIGGEST attraction... The Hanapēpē swinging bridge where you can walk across the Hanapēpē river, If. You. Dare. Yes, located directly behind Aloha Spice Co., a pedestrian suspension bridge is calling your name to cross... C'mon it's not THAT SCARY. O.k. before we finish things up, let's talk about the Jerky and of course the Shaka Pops. If you're a Jerky connoisseur like me, you gotta try this stuff. It's beef jerky, but crispy like a chip. And if you're JUST LIKE ME, once you start, you won't stop until the bag is gone (hence why I went back in and got the 2nd bag as mentioned above.). And finally... Shaka Pops!!! What is a Shaka Pop you ask?? A 100% Natural, Gluten-free, Kauai Made, fruit or cream based delicious popsicle! And believe me.... they were DELICIOUS!!! (See pic below of the flavors available) So grab your Shaka Pop, load up on crispy jerky, pick up some spices for your home and then go out back and... run across the Hanapēpē bridge as fast as you possibly can. On second thought... Just walk, yeah, just walk across it. =)

When you are in the historic Town of Hanapepe you might want to take a peek on this souvenir store where you can find lots of spices made locally, art crafts & paintings. They also have a variety of food items from small treats to cold drinks. It is located right when you go to the famous Hanapepe hanging bridge, you can't missed it. Parking is challenging a bit but the good thing is this store has their own comfort room. Also, this store is way too expensive but if you want to support a small women-owned local business feel free to splurge or simply spread the word. I bought some sea salt and chocolates here and it was also good to explore this store. It's like roaming inside a mini museum. T'was fun! Mahalo for reading & happy juandering fellow yeeps!

Good place to browse for souvenirs, though most things are pretty pricey. We enjoyed some local popsicles on the porch before heading to the suspension bridge nearby. Love the shaded parking space in the front.

Aloha Spice Company is a cute store to stop by at if you're in Hanapepe, although I wouldn't necessarily recommend going out of your way to visit. It's located next to Hanapepe Swinging Bridge, which is a popular tourist spot in the area. The store had a bunch of cute souvenir items, including various products from vendors around the island. The shop itself had a warm, inviting vibe and was perfect for perusing. The employees were helpful and easygoing. All the products here looked absolutely delicious, but it didn't seem like there were many ready-to-eat items. I did see that the store was selling gourmet ice pops, which looked absolutely delicious, but I didn't get the chance to try them. If I'm ever back in Hanapepe, I'll have to try them!

The lemonade (I got the lavender one) was AMAZING, so refreshing, perfectly sweetened but EXPENSIVE! This tiny glass cost me $8, but I was really hot and love supporting a small women-owned business. They also sell a variety of other food items, in addition to cool local things. The woman working here was lovely, so nice and friendly. It's a cool store to stop by if you're visiting the Hanapepe Swinging Bridge.

A fantastic shop to pick up gifts. They make all their own spices

Really great little shop with variety of spices (made by their company) and great gifts to pick up. I will plan to visit again next time I'm in Kauai

Amazing shop with everything. Spices, souvenirs etc. Greeted when entered. Enjoyed browsing. Tucked in the back area next to Napa Auto Parts.

Chef Janice is amazing! She prepared two dinners for us at our Poipu house rental for 8 adults and…read moretwo toddlers. She uses fresh local ingredients with a style that is bold in her use of spices and herbs, many of which come from her garden. Our first night we selected off of her Hawaiian Pacific menu, starting with her Ahi Bruschetta with an avocado mouse and her Purple Sweet Potato galettes, then a Farm Fresh Salad to lead into the entrees of Steak and MahiMahi with grilled veggies and an amazing Cauliflower done two ways. Matcha Brownies with Haupia ice cream and a black salt sprinkle brought it all home! The following dinner stepped the flavors even more over the top as we enjoyed her Mediterranean menu. We started with an incredible Mezzo platter including delicious hummus and the freshest, most flavorful feta I have ever had. The menu progressed to include a beautiful salt crusted Red Snapper (see Pix) and concluded with an awesome Strawberry Rose Coconut Cheesecake. Our family has a wide range of tastes and includes some serious foodies (two live in San Francisco and dine out multiple times a week) and all were blown away. Her portions are also very generous, so we enjoyed a full leftover meal the following days. I heartily recommend Farm Cook Kauai for an incredible personal chef dining experience!

I walked into this small shop to find a very friendly atmosphere with the clerk explaining how the shop started its journey. At first I was not interested in buying anything there, until I saw the hot sauce. Thankfully the clerk/cashier offered a free sample of the hot sauce while explaining how it was made and who the chef was. I was impressed with the flavor and texture of this amazing Hawaiian sauce! The soy sauce tasted incredible as well! The twist this chef puts on regular every day sauces is incredible. It's delicious. Imagine tasting a hot sauce without a chip or cracker, just the sauce, and enjoying every bite. You can't do that with regular hot sauce! The store itself is more like a small town shop, clean and neat, fully stocked and decorated to match their product line. I left the store without buying. Three days later I went back and purchased 3 bottles of hot sauce for the flight home! I've used it on every dish I've made this week! It's delicious!
