It's incredible and the most delicious homemade Filipino bun ever! My kids were also incredulous of how wonderful it tasted. During this visit we also tried the chicken adobo (better than my Filipino mom's version and better than the way I prepare it!) Wow, again best ever chicken adobo dish! My hubby got the breakfast plate that had sausages and rice. He loved it. Also got the chicken tinola and pork adobo on a second visit and more pan de sal! The shopkeepers are so nice and friendly. It's a pleasure supporting this local small business. It will definitely be a place we'll return to over and over again during future visit to Kauai! Highly recommend! There were many locals who came too! The lovely owner grandma said they've changed the name of the restaurant, because she's handed it down to her son and he'll run the business. Thank you for preparing and serving delicious Filipino food!

I should've got a dozen. This place is a small Filipino bakery and turo-turo joint on Rice Street in Lihue in between Rob's Good Times Grill and the bowling alley. The Tita that helped us was friendly and I was going to get a bag of their homemade chicharon but decided against it. She laughed when I changed my mind. They have some vegetables for sale scattered about the small retail space out front. But the main draw is their baked goods and their hot food to-go. I saw everything from biko (sticky rice dessert), musubis, empanadas, suman (sticky rice wrapped in banana leaf) for baked and packaged goods. Then they had pancit, dinuguan, fried fish and pork adobo. There were several other offerings that I cannot recall. Pan de sal was 3 for $1 or a dozen for $4. Gotta get the dozen. Parking is in the share lot right out front or street parking along Rice if the plaza is packed.

They called their boss and asked if they could refund our first order and we then ordered a new order at the truck. They refunded our first order in 36 hours which was great! The truck had a couple of nice picnic tables where one could eat on site. We highly recommend and will probably return.

I will admit that they are muuuch thicker than other malasadas I've tried, almost similar to the texture of a churro, but still super delicious. Don't let one fool you!! It sits pretty heavy after x3 (oops haha). Such sweet service and they have other yummy breads and pastries available at the counter.

It's such a cute little mom-and-pop spot, super welcoming and simple in the best way. The second you walk in, it just feels warm and genuine. The roasted pork rice dish was honestly the best I've ever had in my life. The pork was perfectly cooked, so flavorful along with the cravy, and everything tasted incredibly fresh and homemade. Best mac salad as well. They have other rice dishes too, can't wait to come back to try these. You can really tell how much care goes into the food here. And the malasadas... easily some of the freshest we had in Kauai. Soft, warm, and just perfect -- the kind you wish you had ordered more of right away. They have both simple malasadas and filled ones (get the coconut one!!!) The whole experience honestly felt like you were eating at your auntie's house. So comforting, so friendly, and just really special. If you're anywhere near Hanapepe, this place is 100% worth stopping for. I'm already thinking about that roasted pork and can't wait to come back next time I'm in Kauai.

Total ripoff! If I…read morecould only give negative stars! Pepper beef that was tasteless and more gristle than beef. Cold rice (how do you even do that). Tasteless veggie soup. Tasteless veggie rolls cooked in very old oil. All this for $48!!! (Without drinks) hands down both the worst "Thai" food and the worst food truck experience I've ever had. Avoid like the plague.

Wow very polarizing reviews here. We chanced upon this place on the way back from the Kalalau Trail…read morehike to our Poipu hotel at about 6pm on Thursday. We were the last customers since the lady literally closed up shop as soon as we finished eating by 6:30pm. I only got a Thai moco here, and got more stuff from the other Thai truck just in the next lot, so I suppose it is difficult to judge the entire menu based on one dish. However, I'll say it was probably the best (though not perfect) moco I had during this trip. The burger patties were crisp on the edges and had great umami, almost like a fried chicken which was unexpected. The rice was a lot, maybe too much, but cooked right. The eggs were a bit undercooked, whites still slightly raw, but I actually don't mind raw eggs (psh salmonella) so I didn't say anything. The gravy was good but a bit too chunky and thick, like too much corn starch or something. Service was ok. Had to order from the window right next to a swarm of flies as the trash can was nearby. Lots of open seating, but also lots of flies trying to beat me to my food. Menu very very extensive, not just Thai food, but also a lot of Asian classics. Overall, don't regret trying this as it satisfied my loco moco craving, but I probably wouldn't drive 45min out of my way to get it.

I had to try it, and it completely lived up to the hype. We came for breakfast on our first morning on the island. The staff were friendly and chatty, and I learned the chef has been cooking on the grill here for 19 years--she must have started young, because she doesn't look that old! When I mentioned I'd found them on Yelp because of their outstanding rating, they seemed genuinely surprised and appreciative. I ordered the Loco Moco and it was absolute perfection (and more than enough food). Two scoops of rice, two perfectly seasoned hamburger patties, two eggs, and the most delicious gravy I've had in a long time. The portions were generous and the prices were more than reasonable. I also couldn't resist grabbing some freshly baked Chocolate Chip Banana Bread and Pumpkin Crunch Cake with cream cheese frosting to take back to the cottage. Both were still warm when I got there--pure heaven. The vibe is pure local: simple tables and chairs out front, ideal for people-watching. I fully intended to return for more meals during our stay, but Hurricane Lowell had other plans and they rightfully closed ahead of the storm. Even with just one visit, this place left a lasting impression. Highly recommend Gina's for any meal, but especially breakfast. Support this wonderful local spot--you won't be disappointed!

The employee who took my order was rude and even yelled at me because she couldn't hear me over the loud music playing in the food truck. I ordered the poke bowl special, which was supposed to come with their famous tots, but the tots were missing from my order. I considered going back to ask for them, but honestly, I didn't because I was worried the employee would be even ruder than she was when I placed my order. I also tipped 20% because I truly believe in taking care of people who work in the service industry. We also tried the katsu musubi and the fried musubi, and all three dishes were absolutely delicious. We've visited both locations, and while the food was excellent at each, the Poʻipū location lacked the warm, welcoming spirit you'd hope to experience while visiting Kauaʻi. That said, much aloha to Kauaʻi. We had a wonderful trip and can't wait to come back.
