Came here for a quick breakfast sandwich on Sunday morning 11:30am. I was the only customer at the counter and there were two ppl eating at tables inside and what looked like 2 ppl waiting for their drink orders. I had to wait about 2min straight before anyone would acknowledge me. I saw 3 staff members repeatedly walk in front of me, as well as another staff person making drinks. No one managed a "hello" or "be with u in a sec", just a bit odd for a mom and pop breakfast cafe. I was finally greeted after the barista finished the previous customers drinks. I ordered their lox bagel and bfast croissant sandwich, and an iced coffee. The food definitely wasn't something to write home about. The breakfast croissant tasted way too hot, as if it had been in the microwave. The lox bagel was the most decent thing, and consisted of lox, capers, block of cream cheese, thin slices of red onion, on toasted cheese bagel. Everything came out to $25 with tip. Stopped by Java Jax on our way to Napa. Very diverse menu and crowd. Loved seeing all the locals in their GSW gear. Friendly staff, friendly customers, straight forward menu. The pastries looked awesome, the coffee was fresh, and the hot dogs were loaded! Prices are better than the big chain places, and they're more efficient too. We ate inside, so we got to see at about 10-15 customers place their order and were on their way in only a few minutes. Overall very nice place to come have a snack and a cuppa! read more

Really hard to give a low review because the people who served me were very nice. A+ for customer service, but my goodness are their portions too small. I ordered a small shake and and breakfast bowl and the total was $15. (Excuse the photo in advance, I later found out it was 15 after I ate the part with sour cream). The bowl itself was $10 and it looked as if the eggs and other ingredients were microwaved inside it. The concoction was good, but breakfast is supposed to be the meal for Kings and this was a meal for a chihuahua. The shake was really good and fresh you can tell. I had never been to Vallejo before, so on our way to catch the ferry to San Francisco, we found that we had some spare time to find a quick breakfast spot. Joe K. had read some pretty good Yelp reviews about this place and it made our decision to stop here an easy one. This coffee house is well maintained, cute and clean with the 50's style red vinyl and chrome bar stools and matching tables. We were greeted right away by a very nice young girl who was eager to help with our food choices. She recommended one of her favorite "Morning Buns" as a starter. We also selected a breakfast croissant with egg, cheese and turkey. Everything on the menu looked deliciously appetizing! As we were paying for our orders, the gentleman at the register whom I suspect is the owner, was more business like and had a serious demeanor. Even when my boyfriend tried to break the ice with some courteous small talk and jokes, he never cracked a smile or barely responded. The young female employee seemed to take over the friendly customer service side whenever she could. I even felt a little uncomfortable to look in his direction for fear of receiving a stern glare from him. I also noticed that many locals patronized this place with a steady stream of customers. They all received the same "Vulcan" like treatment as we did. I guess showing no emotion works for some humans too! Anyway, our food, orange juice and coffee all fit the bill and we felt ready to move on to our next destination with satisfied stomachs. I've never been displeased with their service even though I rarely visit Vallejo to continue to stop by. The two gentlemen behind the counters are so nice and I'm still in love with the bagel and lox. The food is horrible. I got a toasted sandwich which ended up being soggy and didn't have the ingredients I ordered, and was just the saddest sandwich Ive ever seen. I had ordered "for here" but was packed up "to go" indicating they didn't want me there either, and our interaction was brief enough for me to assume the cook was being discriminatory in some way I will never understand. And for a 10+ dollar sandwich which at 711 would cost less than half as much, this is inexcusable. Highly unrecoverable experience. Really sad about having to write this review. I enjoyed the bagels which were prepared in a very timely manner and simplicity of the place and the staff were so friendly.

Edit: They no longer carry the donuts. So many people have been requesting them but unfortunately the owner doesn't understand supply and demand. Maybe with enough requests he'll bring them back! Below review left and edited for posterity. V3gan DONUTS AVAILABLE!! Well kinda sorta... They get daily delivery of a dozen donuts from the owner of V. Donut Gelato. Once they sell out there's no more until the next day. The bright side is that you can place an order in advance for the following day. I believe the only day they do not have them is on Tuesday. Sure you can travel all the way to East Oakland to get your donut fix but it's nice to be able to pick up a few without crossing the bridge. If they continue to sell out day after day perhaps they'll consider carrying more at a time. Until then at least there's one way to get V. donuts in Vallejo. Just be sure to CALL AHEAD!! read more

I recently relocated to the area. I work largely remotely so as usual, I found a local coffee spot to sit outside and do work. I've been coming to this one for about a week. The coffee is fine, though nothing special. Today I bought a small coffee and started work but needed to leave for a Zoom meeting. I came back a short time later (with the same cup of coffee). The man who's been serving me this past week (presumably the owner) came out and said "if you're going to use the wifi you need to buy something". I pointed to my cup of coffee to which he responded "that was from earlier". I picked up my laptop and left. I have experienced poor service at coffee shops, but have never had anything like this happen. This would have been extremely rude even if the place had been busy, but it was (as usual) nearly empty. It is hard for me to believe that this was not racially motivated (I am Black). Perhaps the kindly old man that some people wrote about is not so kind if you happen to be Black. I came here for ther vegan donuts that they get from oakland. Hey it beats driving all the way to Oakland for a vegan donut. I am not sure how they stock those donuts but the display had one of each flavor so I was lucky enough to try ther matcha donut. It was not too sweet but I am not sure if it was worth $2. Staff seems friendly. I heard them greet a few regulars as I was choosing my donut flavor. Parking is limited but I didn't have problem parking and to be honest I didn't see a restroom. Overpriced. Food is ok- you can tell they microwave most of it so it gets kind of soggy. Also dirty- Ive seen roaches a few times out in the dining area. Lots of creeps hang out there- I know multiple workers who had to quit because there was no sexual harassment policy. I've also seen customer's be harassed in the building and no one does anything. No cameras either so lock your car and take your keys with you. Sad to see such a cute store fall into disrepair due to incapable management. This had always been a priority stop for coffee before Covid-19, since I am working from home in 2020, I always try to stop by every time I have to take a ride to the office. I have noticed the new staff and when they started sometime ago they made my Tuxedo Mocha wrong, no worries I loved Java Jax, but I went in last week to get my Lemon Bar & Tuxedo Mocha, I was the only person in the shop, my order was taken and the employee started my order, then all of a sudden stopped making my mocha and helped the new customer. After the new customer was served and left the shop, my drink still was not completed, I asked the server "Why did you do that, as my time is important also" and the other server came from the back and they both were so rude. I told the employees that my money and time mattered also and all they said and very sarcastically was "have a nice day". I never thought I would say this about my beloved coffee spot, as I have been trying to spend my $$ at Mom & Pop businesses because I know they are struggling during Covid-19, but I won't be back and I miss the original staff. read more

What a total gem! You know that place in your humble hometown you keep meaning to try but never seem to get around to it; Java Jax has always been that place for me. I finally got the opportunity to try this place early in the morning a few Saturdays ago when I was out for a walk. I had the bagel and lox on a toasted onion bagel. It was perfect. Generous portions of cream cheese, smoked salmon, red onions and capers. Just how I like it prepared I also had one of their Apple pastries. It was flaky and buttery and the apples were perfectly soft. There was also a little bit of sweetened cream cheese in the pastry, unexpected and delicious. On a recent trip to Napa for a wedding, we took advantage of a Restaurant.Com certificate and put some serious hurtin' on some breakfast & a sandwich to-go back to the hotel with us! The service was friendly, the food was very good, and the coffee may have very well saved our lives after a night of post-wedding reception partying! Hubby had the breakfast burrito, which was massive and loaded with sausage and just the right amount of cheese, I had the bagel with lox...soooo yummy! Let me start by saying this: If this place were open late, I'd risk going to Downtown Vallejo at night. The coffee? So good. Punch your taste buds off good. Grab an espresso, grab a pastry (the one with the almond paste is my favorite), sit down and just enjoy being there. They've also got all sorts of sandwiches, bagels, hot dogs, and ice cream, all of which are great. I can vouch for their Bagel and Lox, another favorite. If you come here, you must order Bagel and Lox and/or Chicago Hot Dog. Basically, this is a gem in Vallejo and it's too bad the city is kinda run down. There's not really a parking lot here--it's small. But then again I don't think a lot of people come here so you can probably park under the roof--you'll see what I mean if you come here. I have been here twice and everytime I came I felt a unfriendly vibe. The people working seemed scared and dry towards me. I asked if the had any specials and they looked at me like I spoke French and said only hotdog. I only asked because I use to drive by and see a different special posted usually Italian beef or something. So far I had the pesto chicken sandwich which was good and the chicken salad which was just canned chicken and mayonnaise it was salty and boring. While my daughter was at an event, I needed somewhere to hangout, work, and get some good coffee. Little did I know that, at Java Jax, I would also get to see some great sides of the local Vallejo community. This was clearly a place where people in the area came to, no only get decent cafe eats, but to meet up with friends, share the gossip, and just connect. The owners and staff knew everyone who came in and they really friendly to this stranger as well. The space is kind of odd when you first see it. Not sure what the building was pre-Jax, but it is nice and bright, there was free wifi, and plenty of table and power outlets. It is also located in a great pocket of downtown where there are lots of local-feeling stores. Cool, quirky spot that I'll have to check out again the next time I find myself in Vallejo! read more

We went and I ordered a toasted Turkey Pesto Sandwich ($6.50) with a side of potato salad and a White Mocha Frappe ($3.50). My boyfriend ordered the Breakfast Burrito ($6.75) and a coffee ($1.25-1.50). The sandwich was to die for!! It was so yummy and amazing! The White Mocha Frappe was sinfully rich and delicious! His breakfast burrito was full of flavor and tasty! We have been back twice since the Groupon and I ALWAYS get the Turkey Pesto and White Mocha! I'm not a fan of this place mostly due to the fact that I rarely have had both good service and good food or coffee... That said, they serve some amazing stuff on the breakfast menu and I think the latte's are pretty darn good. I prefer to go to other sites for the usual fix of caffeine and sugar, but since I live literally across the street, it's terrific in a pinch. All of the local law enforcement is usually here as well so you can definitely feel safe while at this establishment. To be honest, I still love their food and normally I don't rate companies on customer service but when your the owner then I mean I have too. Like I said the food is good. But god forbid your order is slightly different then the way it is on the menu, you get eye rolls and sighs from the owner. And honestly which is crazy to me but we've even gotten the eye roll because of how many things we ordered. Like seriously? We're spending money here at your business. My family spend a lot of money there, like $30 on a breakfast place? Like come on now. Keep your eye rolling till I at least walk away from the counter. My family and I go here maybe once every two months. So if your not a regular or not getting just one/two things, be careful for the attack of the eye rolling! Peaceful, solid spot in downtown Vallejo. It is a coffee shop with the buildings like a renovated gas station/ car shop. Pretty neat!! I enjoyed the caramel latte, which was very sweet as well as my egg burrito! Nice place to spend your morning! read more
