    Funky monkey

Needed coffee to continue our trip back from Santa Rosa so here we go... nothing remarkable on the ordering process (this is drive through) and unfortunately they don't have rest room. We ordered funky monkey and boy does it tasted like burned, sandy peanut butter. This could possibly be the worst drink I've ever taste; banana flavor is nice but what kind of nasty peanut butter did they use? It's also loaded in unhealthy amount of sugar that I had to water it down so much.

Wasted money on a breakfast sandwich that was burnt. Will not be returning. Stink up my car, even after it was thrown out. Horrible.

    Butterfinger white mocha!!! Mmmmm

This is my go to for frozen coffee treats. The staff are all very polite, cheerful and knowledgeable about the coffee drinks offered. They have great hot coffees as well. The lemon milkshake, butterfinger white mocha and caramel macchiato are my favorites. Warning: Lines are long in spring and summer!!! Be patient, it's worth the wait.

Warning: Highly recommended deliciousness! This is my go to for a rich candy crafted frappe. These Frappuccino's are out of this world. Everyone is different but I usually get the Butterfinger White Mocha Frappe. It will blow up the socks off any sweet frappe you have ever had. Highly recommend for one of those "cheat days" Anyways, I had to jump on here and write a stellar review because they also always have the sweetest ladies working there that have excellent customer service skills. Today I was hungry and decided to get something to eat also. I tried their PASTRAMI DOG! Holy cow. It's like those hot dogs you get at baseball games but slap some pastrami, mustard and cheese with some pickles. This thing is bomb.com!!! I usually stay away from things like this but I couldn't resist today. Five stars for my favorite small business coffee stop on the way to the city!!! Check it out!!

This ain't McDonald's!!! I love this place for quality and convenience. I wish they were located throughout Marin! Smoothies, breakfast sandwiches, and coffee all officially tested and approved...multiple times!

Excellent! Highly recommend the blended tuxedo mocha! Great service on Christmas morning and the only place open in town. Thank you!

    Reese's Milkshake
    Donald H.

Was in the area and randomly stopped by one afternoon. Never heard of the place but glad I decided to indulge. The Reese's milkshake was amazing. According to the barista is was the first day they started making shakes. I asked if they could make it think and they didn't disappoint. So many Reese's at the bottom. Will definitely be back the next time I'm in San Rafael

This spot popped up pretty high, and funnily enough, my boyfriend--who doesn't live locally--had actually heard of it from a previous visit, so we decided to go for it. Right off the bat: huge win on logistics. There's a nearby parking garage with ample space, and parking is free on Sundays and holidays, which already put us in a good mood. The place was packed when we went (Sunday), but in the best way. It's honestly adorable--there's a small playground, multiple seating areas, and everything feels very thoughtfully put together. I don't usually gush over ambiance, but the furniture, layout, and overall warmth of the space really stood out. Cozy without being cramped, lively without being chaotic. There were three people working, one of them quite young, and while we didn't order food, I did get a matcha--and wow. It took a while to come out, but when I saw how they were preparing it, it all made sense. Unlike most high-volume spots that rush matcha, they actually take their time with the full process. The result? Easily top 10 matchas I've ever had. Fresh, clean, energizing in a way that felt genuinely good for my body--not jittery, just right. They do have pastries and a couple of food options, though the savory options didn't really tempt me personally. That said, I'd 100% come back just for the drinks and the space alone. There's just enough white noise to sit and work comfortably, and the ambiance makes you want to stay awhile. This is officially going into my coffee + work rotation.

Upon arriving I realized the namesake is because parents are welcome to bring their kids for a communal play area (which does have an entry fee). My "Soft Scramble" was a pile of astonishment. It was so unrefined that it was an insult the the ingredients. There was nothing soft about the eggs, they were overcooked. The only thing soft on the plate was the watery run-off from the vegetables they heaped into the eggs: Too many chewy mushrooms and HUGE. Too many cherry tomatoes. I had to dig to find the eggs. The leeks were strips of inedible ribbon. The toast? I think it had been toasted yesterday and left on the top of their oven overnight and then reused today. I had to get up from the table and ask for butter to make it edible and still I worried whether I was going to break a crown. The pickled vegetables? Again, HUGE, hard and barely pickled. I will refrain from criticizing the service because they are all unaware of the nightmare in which they are working. Bless their hearts. I was so sad and annoyed. People think they can buy a restaurant with recipes and wholesale accounts and staff and just run it, "business as usual" but they are wrong. I went in and asked if they had sold the restaurant and was told, "yes." I imagine some tech-bro's wife or some hedgefund community doodler wanted a pet project with zero idea about food or food quality or how to treat and retain employees because what happened to MHBB is astonishing. It's rude and insulting to anyone who opened this restaurant and put in their best to keep the name and claim to be catering to the same people. But then again, this is par for the course or, from my vantage point, everything wrong with what's happened in Marin in a nutshell. Faux authenticity. Zero care. This is now all about the money. I will never bother with it again.

Comforts sits right in the heart of downtown San Anselmo, with a small parking lot next door (very handy). We opted to skip the sit-down café and grabbed a to-go salad from the marketplace instead. The small size is $10, which feels reasonable until you look around and realize everything else in that to-go area is... let's just say Whole Foods looks like a bargain by comparison. This is premium Marin pricing, full stop. But back to the salad -- it absolutely lived up to the hype. All the components were fresh and crisp, but the real star is the sesame-ginger vinaigrette: savory, sweet, and tangy all at once. Add in the satisfying crunch of peanuts, and it's the kind of salad that makes you understand why people drive out of their way for it. Comforts has been a Marin institution since 1986, and one bite of this salad tells you exactly why. Just go in with eyes open on the prices -- and maybe don't browse the marketplace too long if you're on a budget.
